We all knew Britney Spears was an impressionable young lady, but if we had known she'd react this way to our "Plight of the Bald" report last night...we would have done it months ago!

People Magazine has the photos and story of Britney's surprise appearance at a San Fernando Valley hair salon, where she grabbed the electric razor and did this to herself.

Spears then visited a Sherman Oaks, CA tattoo parlor, where she got herself "inked up" a little bit for good measure.

A bystander says Britney told reporters she did it because "she didn't want people touching her anymore."

You're getting there, sweetheart.

But it's not too late. You can bet we'll be having a little intervention on Monday night's Countdown, 8 p.m. ET -- set your TiVo's right this minute.

And please, no jokes about what matches what now, clearly we've got some issues to deal with here.

I remember in the 1960's Mia Farrow chopping her hair off when Frank Sinatra broke up with her. It seemed an act of futility then and does so now with Britney Spears. Anyway, hair grows back, and she probably has some lovely wigs. People won't dwell on it for long.

Britney seems to cry for accountability, a state of being in control and grounded. She likely missed these steps as she grew up a working performer. Emotionally she is a child still looking for the reward yet not understanding the rules of the game. She needs help for her sake and her children.

Gosh, this makes me want to cry for her. I, too, am a young mom with little ones. This makes me worry for them, too. Even if she hates the world, maybe she can suck up her pride and admit that if we all see there's a problem, maybe that would be a hint that she should just get some help. I think she would be surprised at how much support and even respect she would get, even from her critics. Life is not always pretty. It is about finding happiness and peace no matter what everyone else thinks. I wish her the best.

I distinctly remember acting out as a child of seven. I realized very quickly that my results were opposite of what I'd hoped to receive. I learned a lesson, and I matured, changed my actions and went on to excell in an interesting career. Drawing attention to oneself is not always good. Brit should get a good nanny, a workout routine, and take care of herself and her boys right now. Get out of the limelight for a good 6 months. Well, I personally think it was a ploy to get attention whether it be from people directly connected with her or from the public. If that is the case, she certainly got it. You know the saying, bad attention is better than no attention? I think she's also trying to say that she doesn't care what people think, though thats obviously not how she really feels, since she did something so drastic. Lots of stars have done it though, or done really strange do's. Let's not forget Madonna (her icon), Demi, Sinead, and a host of others. They all had their reasons whether we undestand them or not.

Where are her parents, I want to know. In the BIG PICTURE, no one really cares why she is acting out. Just because she is famous, does she get the media attention. If it was you or me, nothing would be said. Did anyone ever consider that there just might be a practical reason why this girl would want to shave her head? Three weeks ago she visited a salon at the Palms hotel - they said her hair was so badly damaged from repeated bleachings that it had broken off and thinned to the point where bald spots had begun to appear.
