Bravo! I've been teaching American History for over 25 years and finally believe that someone remembered something. Particularly, Republican Senator Taft's opposition to the Marshall Plan. More importantly, thank you Keith for reminding us that the facts of history are generally twisted like 'silly putty' by those who are at a loss for contemporary logic or morality. The Third Reich was clearly not the only government using the Big Lie to justify its policies. Facts can usually speak for themselves when one studies history with those who allow the facts to stand on their own without a contemporary political spin. Thanks, Keith!
Great show, and great Comment. I will be replaying, rereading and thinking about this one for a while! Also, thank you for remembering the passing of the late great Bill Hicks. God, he was brilliant. I wonder what he'd make of Bush 43 and his minions. It'd probably kill him. Remember: humans are so NEAT!
Mr Olbermann, Great show tonight. I recently was living abroad when I was surfing the internet one day and came upon your show. I must tell you that I have been overseas since 1999 and I saw 9 11 come and go. We all know what happened after that. The point of my comment here is that until I saw your show I thought the American news media had given up on ever doing any part of their jobs. You have renewed my faith in your proffesion. Thanks again.
Right on tonight, Keith, with your special comment. Condi is nothing less than a lying bloviator.
Thank You Keith again you point out that most members of the Bush administration, not only do not know or understand our Constitutation but that they do not seem to know or have learned anything about American history. Please keep the special comments comming.
Why not have Dr. Rice on the show to ask her your questions Mr. Olbermann?
dear keith why is it that with all of the media coverage about anna nicole smith most reporters continue to say her daughter's name wrong it is not DANIEL LYNN OR DANIELLE LYNN it is danielynn pronounced DANNY LYNN Please show some respect and say it correctly. Everyyime I hear a person from the media say it incorrectly it makes me cringe. Thank you Kym Lindo
Keith, don't you watch Colbert? The truth has nothing to do with "facts!" Unfortunately, using lies to persuade a public that still widely believes Saddam had something to do with 9/11 (and that Saudi Arabia didn't) is not such a difficult task. They're too busy voting for "American Idol" to worry about what pesky thing is getting the kids killed in Iraq.
BRAVO! Once again Keith Olbermann voices what the "silenced" majority feels! Keep up the pressure.
Keith, No specific comments regarding any one show ... but I just wanted to say THANK YOU for being one of the very few on-air commentators in these disturbing times, who has the cojones to absolutely speak truth to power. Unlike the majority of followers who are employed within the media industry, your efforts do the profession of journalism proud. Please keep fighting the good fight, and don't ever let them wear you down. We need more professionals like you. All the best to you Sir!
It seems to me that Secretary of State Rice was incorrect at claiming Saddam Hussein's supposed alignment with Adolph Hitler. Didn't she say once before that Saddam Hussein aligned himself with Stalin? How can she get her henchmen wrong particularly as she is a confirmed Russian historian of the Cold War and would therefore know that Stalin was Hitler's eastern front adversary. But henchmen aside, I think that Rice's confusion rests with the length this stupid Iraqi confrontation has gone on. As long as it was lied into operation, the lies to sustain this debacle have become grosser and grosser, leaving the likes of Miss Rice to become Missed Rice on occasion after occasion. What is another lie. When it comes to lies, this administration has it all over Shakespeare when they get their lies so confused.
Special comment: Condi goes too far Tonight on "Countdown," Keith Olbermann delivers a special comment on Secretary of State Condi Rice's comparison of Saddam to Hitler. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17351284/from/ET/ On history (didn't she refer to the september 9th presidential daily brief as an "historical document"?? Hmmmm...) Condi Rice (isn't that a side you'd order, like instead of couscous? "I'll take the veal, with the fruit jello-wait! I can get the Condi Rice?!! Hotcha!") had it partially right- the spirit of those murderous times- like where they burned down a government building and blamed it on someone else to grasp for power even though it still wasn't the Iraqis, Taliaban, Al jazzera, librocrats, boogyman, Tinkywinkey, or even Al flippin' Quaeda for sweet one-pound eight-ounce baby Jesus' sake! You were absolutely right and most astute, professor! F her! ( http://urbansquirrelstuntdesign.blogspot.com ) David Scott Martyn, Iowa City, Iowa
Thank you Keith for a great special comment. Thank you for catching our public servants making such huge mistakes. I guess I don't want to believe she is really that dumb. Could she be dumbing down her interview on Fox News for the audience so they can be led to believe what she is saying? Either way whether she's being ignorant on purpose or not, it's all just plain evil to compare what this administration has done to Adolf Hitler. Thank you for an intelligent, thought provoking, wonderful news show. I look forward to watching the news now because of this show.
Bravo Keith for another excellent Special Comment on Monday 2/26! Your perfect mix of cleverness and boldness always amuses and inspires me! Thanks to you and the reporters/commentators who are the eyes and ears for the rest of us who must daily attend to the normal business of our country to keep the wheels turning. It is so insulting that our President and his administration think we are buying what they are selling....Keep holding their feet to fire Keith!
Keep up the great work Keith. I feel at times I am right there with you and agree with you in so very many ways. However in the article about 'Condi. goes too far...' I just have to add....don't forget about the other people who also defeated Hitler and his horrible regime. Namely the Canadian soldiers and the British. Unfortunately in many history books they included the Canadians in with the British...but as you know we are our own country. For example as I was reading to my Father about a certain battle in Europe long before the American soldiers joined, and only quoted that British soldiers were there. My father stopped me abruptly...'what? he said in shock and yet so much pain in his face, There were Canadian soldiers in that battle...in fact we held it....we were there first, my regiment were strong...even though I lost friends and soldiers were stayed and fought and pushed back the enemy we won that battle...'. You see my Dad was one of those Canadian soldiers. Then he told me the way it happened and the way that history books should have been written. Also my Grandfather fought in WW1. There is an awesome book written by Pierre Berton 'Vimy Ridge' all about WW1. So you see as also in the Korean, Vietnam and even the US Civil wars Canadians played a hugely significant part. But that's ok Keith I still love your show and also as I always say...living is a journey of learning....only wish I had continued my career in the media so I could work with such a great commentator as yourself. Your ability to 'tell it the way you truly see it and as it needs to be told' is truly to be commended. Thank you!
Keith, Thanks for pointing out what many of us have already felt. Sadaam is not the only bad guy in the world. Has anyone ever heard of Kim Jong Il?? What about Hun Sen??( Cambodia in case you didn't know) When are people going to realize that we cannot fight all the bad guys in the world. There is just too many!!! Even our alleged ally in the war on terror in Ethiopa is a creep. Soo many bad guys soo little time.
