So here it is. Covering the big news, the small news, medium-sized and irregular, The News Hole strives to bring everything you love or hate about Countdown to the internets.

We Hope No One Gets Fired For This

Posted: Wednesday, May 02, 2007 12:25 PM by Countdown

Just minutes after interviewing his boss, Rupert Murdoch, Cavuto is apparently doing a segment on the history of FOX, and who pops up on screen but "He Whose Name Must Not Be Spoken" himself.

Technically, Keith's name was not actually spoken, it was spelled out and his image was shown, but Neil didn't actually say "Olbermann", so he'll probably keep his job.

But clearly, they're going to have update the "No KO" memo to include archival tape.

Meanwhile, an Indiana University study reportedly concludes that Bill O'Reilly
calls “a person or a group a derogatory name once every 6.8 seconds, on average, or nearly nine times every minute during the editorials that open his program each night.”

A derogatory name every 6.8 seconds?! Who-hoo! I beat the spread!!
Re: the U of Indiana study. Well, there's a shock. You'd think an Irishman would be a little more careful about drunken bigotry, wouldn't you? Ey, Bill-O! People who live in glass houses...well, they have serious ego issues for starters, but they shouldn't throw rocks either.
Keithie, Derogatory 100% of the time !
It's that attention to detail that makes Fox Noise the high-quality organ-i-zation that it is...
It's just a pet peeve of mine. There is no University of Indiana! There is Indiana University in Bloomington, IN and there is Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, PA. Confusing? Yes, but not insurmountable. Both IUs do fine research!
Wasn't the Steve Lyons guy fired for making racial slurs?
C'mon, Countdown, get it right: it's "He Who Must Not Be Named"
To Keith: I see this image and I'm reminded of the fact that you will be joining the guys on Sunday Night Football on not FOX thank goodness, but NBC!!!!!! Yes!!!!!! By the way Keith, sorry about your beloved Yankees. But to be honest, I do sleep better at night knowing NY is in the basement, at least for the time being. Perhaps, just perhaps, your pre-season prediction about the Yankees will come true afterall. Also, I heard a promo on the radio this morning about you. Mike Savage's guest was Imus' ex-producer Bernie McGuirk (sp) and they were going to be talking about the future of broadcasting, and in particular, you.
Although I attended the other large state school in Indiana, Purdue University (Go Boilermakers!), I always knew those folks in Bloomington could do some outstanding work. Well done!
Although we all abhor and denounce violence there are times, with some people, you just think it would be so nice just to kick their a--. You know, just for the hell of it. Is this the blog that mentions Bill O'Reilly and his foul mouth?
“I think the Democrats are in a box,” Republican Eric Cantor, Virginia, said in an interview. “We’re pretty resolute on our side. We are not going to tie this funding to any type of withdrawal deadline or any type of redeployment deadline.” This asshole is a piece of work!! He, in conjunction with George W. Bush is a premeditated mass murderer!! He knows damn well the consequences will be more Americans lives cut short, tens if not hundreds of thousands of more Iraqi deaths, and streets continued to be teemed with anti-American protests in Iraq and around the world. Our moral leadership is gone as a country, and this is truly one of the saddest days of my life. George W. Bush, you are a pig, a murderer, a criminal and a JACKASS!! I hope you rot in Hell along with Republican Eric Cantor and the remaining members of your criminal Administration!! By the way, GREAT picture of you; however, I almost lost my lunch seeing Fox logo underneath your face!!
All that *and* a sneaky little Simpsons joke -- nicely done.
Ya. I'd hate to see Kieth loose his job! What scares me, to the point I snore at night, is thinking that there are people out there that enjoy and support Bill'o and Rush'l. My mom listens to Rush on the radio but she is 91 and says she has it on just for the noise.
I guess we now have to boycott Indiana. Do the Traditionalists there now have to move?
HAH! HA-HA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Cavuto looks veeeeery unhappy. Hehehehe-I wonder who works at that company that was sly enough to slip that one in. HAH!
What's anyone's oppinon about Stephanie Miller's three day fill-in on the old Imus slot? I thought that the show was great and they should be offered a permanent spot.
“... a person or a group a derogatory name once every 6.8 seconds, on average, or nearly nine times every minute during the editorials that open his program each night.” And BillO says he doesn't get personal.
Nine times a minute for Bill O eh? Since I don't watch him or listen to what he says other than on TWPITW I shouldn't be surprised. Wow Keith just who did you P. O. at Fox to be treated like an un-person anyway?
do we know if this was actual research or just a fun new drinking game?
Your welcome (for the screen grab from Cavuto's show)! Signed, Your friends at Olbermann Watch. PS, are you sure Keith REALLY wants to be quoting studies from Indiana University? Seems to us last time he did that it did not work out so well. Can you say "Hoosier Gazette"?
Watch out Cavuto - Billo's "Fox Security Team" will be showing up at your house.
As a chronic early riser, I have to say I also enjoyed Ms. Miller's program and think she would be a great Imus replacement as MSNBC's AM show. A superior choice to either Smerconish or Tucker, both of whom make me want to slap the television. A side benefit is Keith would get plenty of exercise running from Steph's perpetual sexual harassment in the hallways. I hear she is sweet on him. BOY! Didn't we all hear she was sweet on him and, HA!, Chris Matthews as well. HA! And she's kinda cute for a sweaty chick. Good Luck, Steph! I hope they bring you back.
Never let it be said that the Countdown staff is nothing if not courteous. Thank you for the link, that is more than generous. I will update our post. - All powerful master of the site that must not be named. PS, jeez...we don't "hate" the staff at Countdown, that would be like hating the people that built the pyramids because the Pharaoh was a megalomaniac.
So, now we can expect Neil Cavuto will receive a visit from the Billo Police... armed with loofahs.
"do we know if this was actual research or just a fun new drinking game?" Well, if the game was to take a shot every time O'Lie-lly either lies, bloviates, or simply says something that's flat stupid, everyone would be under the table before the newsbreak at the bottom of the hour.
'“... a person or a group a derogatory name once every 6.8 seconds, on average, or nearly nine times every minute during the editorials that open his program each night.” And BillO says he doesn't get personal.' Well, in the spirit of "Fredo", you have to remember that great Al Pacino line from _The Godfather_: "It's nothing personal, Sonny... It's just business."
Fox is the attack machine of cable news.
I would rather be hoarse whipped or go a couple of rounds with mike tyson than watch bill oriely ,or neil ,or shawn hannity if the government wants to make terrorist confess they should make them watch fox noise channel! msnbc rules
Not to put too fine a point on it, but there is no such place as the "University of Indiana". The school in question is "Indiana University."
Won't the Fox Police be armed with felafels?
Why does not law enforcement not hire a 16 year old "geek" to send all of these internet sexual predators a fatal viru to their computers? It would put them out of action for a little while and it would make them think twice about continuing to "surf."
