No News is Good News at Fox Noise

Posted: Friday, May 25, 2007 2:00 PM by Countdown

This should probably come as no shock to anyone, (with the possible exception of the use of the word "Newshole"), but is it any wonder that Fox Noise viewers seem less informed about the reality on the ground in Iraq?.

Gotta love that FOX did more coverage of Anna Nicole than the '08 Campaign. Classic smoke and mirrors.
Should this shock anyone? Fox (News) Channel (FNC) never has been a legitimate news organization. I have always wondered how Rupy has been allowed to get away with what he has. Even when hauled before Congress to explain George W. Bush's cousin declaring Bush the winner of the 2000 election, while broadcasting from Florida, Murdoch was a complete ass. When asked about the incident he "played dumb"; and when asked what "liberal" commentators he employed on FNC, he stated Alan Colmes. WOW Rupy – ONE!! I guess the thought that would “settle it with Congress”!! When pressed harder, he stated Greta Van Susteren, although she is the host of a legal show. Van Susteren was also THE guiltiest on the air of exploiting the death of Anna Nicole Smith through airing a stolen video (over and over again) where Smith appeared intoxicated. I heard on CNN, FNC was being sued based on Van Susteren's complete disrespect for the family, the infant daughter and friends of Smith. In addition, as a lawyer, she should have known better than to air stolen video. She also showed she doesn’t possess ONE shred of decency for airing something, which will one day ultimately harm or hurt Smith’s innocent baby. However, she works for FNC so what should anyone expect? I hope Murdoch, through continued spiraling ratings, loses everything he owns!! His CEO, Roger Ailes, is a bigot who insulted Senator Obama at a republican function by tying him to Pakistani terrorists’ base on his NAME!! FNC was then "shocked and appalled" the DNC pulled the democratic debate from underneath their bright RED carpet. I sincerely hope more people become wise to their lies and complete irresponsibility in reporting. I look forward to the day when lack of advertising revenue forces FNC off the air. I would LOVE to say ciao to O'Reilly, Hannity and Gibson - in person if possible!!
Me too. For the record I am glad that CNN had only 4% devoted to Anna Nicole Smith. Still FOX is still far from the days when they would try to find good news in Iraq everyday. Now I have a new nickname for them Keith" Fluff News Channel."
Chris Wallace, the Tori Spelling of right wing news.
After visiting the website InflationData.com and finding that before the Bush43 crowd moved in, gasoline prices after adjusted for inflation has essentially been dropping steadily before 2000 but upon George W. Bush's election(?), those prices have bottomed and have determinedly gone up ever since. Now, however, those prices have gone up exponentially. Given the association with Enron-types and the inability to speak about whom made up the corporate-types who were involved with meetings just after that election,Bush is allowing a collusion at the refineries to keep a scarce commodity in gasoline and therefore gouge people. Those excuses for California's energy problems of the early 2000's look quite similar to the argument that gasoline is becoming a scarce product due to assorted refinery problems. It is said that Katrina is the problem for refineries inability to keep pace with gasoline demand while that graph(chart) specifically implies gas shortages(?) ever since Bush 43 took office! There can be no doubt that this gas problem is not due to a lack of refinery space but rather due to a collusion of refineries inducing problems to look like a natural problem, allowing oil companies to skim off profits while keeping the economy going into recession. This explains the chart of gasoline prices during Dubya's presidency and his apparent penchant to rip off the American people. Who said Dubya couldn't find oil? Not only has he found it, he is reaping excessive profits from it. Trouble is, it is oil already found. Not only is his Iraq war essentially a claim-jumping episode, but his allowance to get gas prices far above usual prices is his payback to those oil companies. Leave it to Dubya to screw the electorate! I would recommend having an analysis of refinery production against these gas prices to concur that gouging is taking place. Afterall, must we trust the very people gouging us to tell us that we are not being gouged? Analysis is the basis for that determination.
Too bad Anna Nichole isn't alive, serving in Iraq, and running for President. She could mop up at FOX/FAUX. On the bright side, even deceased, she still is a Major FOX Celebrity.
Hi, I'm Greg, and I like explaining jokes to people.
We need the Fairness Doctrine back. We need an end to Corporate Media. We need Fox "News" Channel relabelled Fox Republican Propaganda Channel. We need an end to surrounding one liberal or even a moderate commentator with 2 if not 3 right-wing talkers (who interrupt, overtalk, and scream to prevent a sentence they don't agree with from even being completed - hear that, Chris Matthews?? - I don't watch your program any more because of your sham "debates".). We need a decent government that preserves, protects and defends the constitution of the United States (hmmmmm, didn't they take some kind of oath to do that?). We need an end to pointless war. We need an end to warmongering. We need the Democrats to do what they were sent to Washington, DC to do. Otherwise, we send more birds. Millions and millions of birds. You can't stay inside and hide forever.
This is Rupert Murdoch's stock in trade. Do stories that are fit for tabloids and ignore real news. He has torn down real journalism and replaced it with junk. He supports those who will increase his profits, period. In Britain he supported the New Labour movement because it would increase his profits. In America, he founded FOX News to tear down Clinton and support the Republicna Party. When France refused his demands to both support the war in Iraq AND increase the number of commercials per hour of programming (by law it's limited), he got Bill O'Reilly to start things like the boycott and even started villifying the French. FOX News even pushed the war in Iraq long before even the Administration began talking about it, and hasn't really wavered in their support of it either. Ultimately, this is the man who needs to be stopped more than even Bush.
Keith, You the man!!!!
Keith, You the man!!!!
Greg, CA - Well since the 2008 campaign is in full swing and there have been two republican debates and one democratic debate already, there are NO problems with these statistics whatsoever. The candidates kicked off their "2008 Campaigns" MONTHS ago, so what's your point? Or please explain if or why you are trying to turn them into a joke? Or am I not understanding? You did state, "Hi, I'm Greg, and I like explaining jokes to people." Ok, explain please.
I would rather get 15 min of accurate news than 31 min of propaganda. But then I guess that's just me.
Scott, I think you got your numbers mixed up. I didn't know truth about the Iraq war was "propaganda," but I guess that's just me!
Pam, I think what Greg is saying is that FOX News is busy ensuring that people are idiots so that they believe the tiny bit that they do slantedly cover about the campaigns and the war.
Anytime someone starts a conversation with 'I saw/heard this on Fox news,' I automatically shut them out!
Scott Henderson, I like accurate news too, but the 15% that FOX does is hardly accurate. I've listened too way too many 'everyone must shut up and support the President no matter what, even if he declares marshall law and begins rounding up Muslims and imprissoning them." By the way, per hour, FOX devotes nine minutes to the War in Iraq, or about 216 minutes in a given day. (That is 60 minutes times .15 or 15%. It is also 60x24x.15 and there are 1440 minutes in a day.) MSNBC devotes 18.6 minutes to the War per hour, and 446.4 minutes in a given day. CNN devotes, per hour, 15 minutes to the War, or 360 mintues per day. Now, you can have a fairly decent discussion about the relavent points on a subject in about fifteen minutes, if you don't get too detailed, but it's very hard to cover much of anything in nine minutes. Now, I was taught by my mother, who was taught by her father, to always get two views on the news- one Liberal and one Conservative. Somehow you manage to get the whole story in there. Thing is, I hit a point where FOX News just got on my nerves. It was more entertainment than fact, and it wasn't entertaining at that. So, I basically avoid it now.
Memorial Day: I know that a lot of people think this weekend is all about having an extra day off, or to go shopping, but I think too many people forget WHY we celebrate this day. That is sad. My friend (whose husband just returned a couple of weeks ago from Kuwait), told me the kids from her daughters class will be practicing for the play, this Monday morning. "On Memorial Day?' I asked. She said yes, but that was okay because they would be home. I told her that it bothered me that they would take THAT day to practice. The major emphasis on shopping during this weekend has always bothered me, but in light of the fact that we've been at war for over 5 years, it makes me sick! I guess for some they feel they are honoring our fallen troops by attending that 'white sale' but it's disrespectful. How sad this country is. It may or may not be crowded at your local/nearest National Cemetary, but it is worth going. Have your beers, barbeques and day off, but please, at least take a moment of your time to think about, and thank, those that gave it all so that you can! PEACE!
Even one minute was too much for Anna. I can't see why a serious news program is asking too much!
Jamie, some of us do remember what Memorial Day is. I have had some family involved in what seems like every conflict the US and Canada have been involved with since the early 1600's. My maternal aunt and cousin served in Vietnam. My paternal cousin served in Iraq I. I had a cousin in Korea. My grandfather served in the Army Air Corps in WWII, his sister in the Marines as a Nurse, his younger brother served in the Merchant Marines, and his youngest brother served in the Army as a reporter for Stars and Stripes. I had an ancestor who marched out with Sherman durring the Civil War. I had an paternal ancestor who was arrested for inciting a riot because he and his brother refused to be drafted to fight in the War of 1812. My paternal great-grandfather was Royal Canadian Army. I had ancestors and ancestral relatives on both sides who fought in the Revolutionary War. Two of my ancester's cousins died at Fort Tyconderoga, one fighting for the Americans and one fighting for the British. The service of this family goes back to an ancestor who fought in the Carignon (sp.) Regiment out of France. His regiment fought the Iriquois Nation. The Iriquois had a habit of attacking French settlments in what would today be called terrorist attacks. (they would run up to the edge of the forest, fire a flaming arrow, and run.) Some of us live with knowing about all of this, and we are always thankful for two things. The first is that they served, and the second is that they returned home.
Bridgette. There is a T-shirt, available at most Pow-Wows (Hedewachi), that has a picture of Geronimo and his sons, looking straight ahead, serious, and holding rifles. Above them in large block letters, is the term, "Homeland Security". Below them is the caption, "Fighting Terrorists since 1492". Hoka He.
Bridgette - Thanks, but I didn't infer that; but I'll take your word for it, what you say is 100% the truth - FOX News will do anything and everything to keep people "ignorant" to the truth!!
Scott – It is IMPOSSIBLE to get15 minutes of ANY news on FNC when they spend hours upon hours repeating the same Anna Nicole crap, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and then move on to Bill O'Reilly screaming about illegal immigrants and body language segments, to Sean Hannity praising the days of Reagan, in addition to "everyone MUST be scared" and “Bush is right” blah, blah, blah!! There is NO news at FNC, just screaming, yelling and "soap opera" reporting. I would hope no one considers that news. But to those who wish to be told lies and listen to show hosts speak of presidents from two decades ago, ENJOY!!
Thanks Steve. Oddly enough, I find that very funny :). Pam, Greg's first comment is really about that, just very short. His second comment left me baffled. Still, I get about 99% of my news online these days from a bunch of different sources, some in English, some not in English.
Let's watch transgenders and child predators on MSNBC for hours every night, I guess that counts as news on democrat delegates
Scott, so are you for FNC or against FNC..........??? I miss Brinkley saying to Huntley, " good night Chet." To those who are too young , find these and sigh on what you are missing in today's telejournalism(sic)
Fox sucks and specially O'Reilly
Good afternoon Scott of Henderson......I'm turning to "the Big Story" on Fox right now.....let's see....OH! It's Rosie Leaving The View!!!!!I guess you can leave your house now, because you are soooo well informed.
do you people think the fnc care if they have viewers or not? the RNC will continue to funnel massive amounts of $$$ to them and all will be happy at fox. ruppy who isn't even american bitching about corprate freedom of speech frost my a__ as much as anything else the RNC puts any intrest into. they are all part of the evil empire that is the executive branch of the US government. they all are going down in 08 they know it, now its a race to see if america nd he world for that matter, can survive until 1-09 when the new president and congress is sworn in. i'd say it's less then 50-50 will all make it.
all the tv sets at the veteran centers in viera,fl. and veteran hosp.in tampa,fl.are tuned to the fox noise channel and can not be changed!i wonder if this is also true around the country?talk about brainwashing the vets.
In the Colloquial, the term, 'Fox', means a hot-looking female. Could it be the demi-coquettes, both male and female over at FOX, have a little thing going on in their heads about how they are all "Fox's" by association? They constantly act like they're the hottest things since Vesuvius. "Screw the truth, am I stylin' or what?"
Fox News is the Nickolodeon of the news channesl out there. Would love to see Barney chase the Big Head in cirlces. Bill O' is wrong on just about everthing he says and just think about the viewing audience on Fox, it is the old viewers from Beverly Hill 90210. My tip for Bill 'O and John Gibson is to read Politics of Life.. by Craig Crawford and pay very close attention, especially Rule #1 "life is a filfthy battle for control." It will enlighten both of them, but this is a book for people who look to better themselves, mindy, body and spirit and I am afraid both men would get a bit confused, due to the fact there is no pictures to color in. Denise
Larry. Taking the last few years into account, I'd say the transgenders are the Democrats and the child predators are the Republicans. Viva la differance, eh?
The difference between MSNBC's 'News Hole' and FOX's 'News Hole', is that MSNBC also eats, drinks, whistles, and speaks out of its' 'News Hole'.
Keith where would we be if you and John Stewart were not there. Stewart with his sharp commedian wit. But seriously, someone needs to take on MICHAEL SAVAGE, RUSH L, HANNITY, COULTER, LAURA ? AND CONDY RICE WHO "LIKE BAD BOYS"; BUSH THE 50 PLUS BAD BOY. CHENEY THE ULTIMATE CRIME BOSS SICKO BAD BOY. WANNA INTERVIEW ME. SAM RICHARDSON B.A 6615658834 freedom2soar@yahoo.com
On Thursday 24 May this was reported by and ONLY by BBC News: "At least 40 people have been killed and 70 hurt in a car bomb attack on a funeral in the Iraqi town of Falluja" Obviously, not Faux. But, also not NBC, ABC, CBS, Yahoo, MNSBC, CNN and not even by Google News Search. Jusus Christ, can't we even bury the dead without killing the mourners left behind. Oh, I certainly AM sorry, you probably didn't want to know about that.
Anybody that watches Fox News is a BRAINWASHED FOOL!
I seem to recall a fair amount of Anna Nicole Smith on Countdown in the past, and did I lose count, or am I correct that Countdown devoted 3 of its own 5 stories on Friday to entertainment-related news, and not even interesting entertainment-related news? No one begrudges Countdown its holiday weekend, but given recent trends generally, Countdown should not be so anxious to throw stones.

Say pmsnbc covered the Iraqui war 100 % of the time, but as usual , 100 % of what was reported was wrong. Does that make you a better news organization ? Say pmsnbc covered the Iraqui war 100% of the time and only a handfull of people watched. With ratings at the bottom, does that make you a better station. If a tree falls in the forest and no one hears it...... Bottom line, for a station that puts a liberal, biased slant on every story and has very few people watching , that speaks volumes. If you even faked trying to give both sides of a story...pathetic. and to consider Molly Olberman, Bill Maher , and Jon Stewart journalist .. comical. So good luck pmsnbc, like Dan Rather before you putting forth false documents as real, you soon will be disposed of with a new Republican in the White House and your loyal followers jumping from the nearest window !
Fox News just refuses to join the "WE CANT WIN WE ARE ALL DOOMED" crowd. I served and am more than sick and tired of programs like Countdown that do nothing but exagerate the bsad and leave out any good news that takes place constantly in Iraq. Maybe the fact that no one on your staff has ever served in the military is a reason that you are so biased. I know of literaly no person stillover in Iraq that I served with would voluntarily watch Countdown.
To Larry, Charleston, SC: I have two words for you: MARK FOLEY. Despite Faux News attempting to smear Democrats by running a banner under the story describing Foley as a Democrat, we all now know he was a Republican lawmaker. We also know that Dennis Hastert was aware of Foley's pedophilia but chose to look the other way. And finally, while we're on the subject of child predators, how about Bill O'Reilly's claim that Shawn Hornbeck enjoyed being abused by the pervert who kidnapped and sodomized him? I guess that counts as news on Republicans...which I'm sure you'd like to conveniently forget.
Everyone here is such an expert> Please just one let me know that you have actually been in Iraq in the past two years for more than six months . Please tell me you are all commenting from experience when you say you know what is going on over there.
Hmmmm-worrying about child sex predators (MSNBC), or whether or Rosie O'Donnell still has a job at ABC (Fox)? Hmmmm-which story is more important? As a mother of four young boys, it is so much more important to know about Rose O'Donnell than it is to make them aware of online predators. DOH!
'Everyone here is such an expert> Please just one let me know that you have actually been in Iraq in the past two years for more than six months . Please tell me you are all commenting from experience when you say you know what is going on over there. Larry Boston (Sent Tuesday, May 29, 2007 2:47 PM)' Well Larry, I haven't-but I did serve my country for 20 years. That being said, since the beginning of this God forsaken invasion, this is the rundown for my brothers, nephew, cousin, and dear friends: Bro Willie-initial invasion with the 82nd. Bro John-left for Iraq a couple months after his 8 month tour in Afghanistan (which by the way my then bro's fiance, now wife, was also serving-did a year there). Cousin Tyler-7 months. Nephew Christopher: Spent one year there and now is currently on his second one year tour that was extended for 3 more months. Friend & sons' Godfather Fred: Six months. Friend & another sons' Godfather Mike: Eight months. Tom nine months. Let's see, Willie (my bro), went back to Iraq for 8 months 3 months after his first tour. Okay, now Michelle (my SIL), is leaving, um, soon, as she has been put on the advanced team. John (my bro) will be following a few days later. They are both going for 15 months. Ya see, these are the people that I am VERY close to, this doesn't even include the myriad of people I know that have served there. I can guarantee you that 99% of these people listed think the whole deal is screwed up. But guess what? They are doing what they have been told. Can't just walk away from the military-THEY have honored the oath they took, unlike Bush. Did I mention that my husband of over 17 years just retired from the Navy on May 1? Yes, he served for 31 years. Don't come on here and ass u me ANYTHING about anybody. You'd be surprised on what you'd find out on here about who has served and/or has loved ones serving. DO NOT ass u me that everybody currently serving in our Armed Forces are Right wing Conservatives that are ooh-rahing the President, 'cause it just isn't true. PEACE!
Jamie, Your comments are why I don't understand why we say "Happy Memorial Day!" Service to our country is something every citizen MUST do if we are to continue as a strong nation. Otherwise the Hiltons and Lohans are gaining on us. Rome fell within!
Larry Boston, While I have not myself been to Iraq this time around, I was there during the 80's, and have many friends that have served there, not only in this latest debacle, but in the debacles before hand. The story as I'm given it, by people that have been there, on the ground, for literally years has changed over the past 6 years. At first, many came back with inspirational stories of how many iraqi's welcomed them, and treated them well, but, the latest of my friends to come back from there has told me, that basically, that sentiment is no longer there. In fact, some of the same people that he met the first tour, will no longer even speak to him, even tho he had dinner with them during his first tour. He also feels less comfortable going out without armor, and a weapon. Larry, I'm sure your experience there must have been a good one, otherwise you wouldn't be so vehement in your bias toward the good side of this war (I say that with tongue firmly planted in cheek) There is no good side to this war. What our leadership has done, is to create more instability in the middle east, and basically made recruiting posters for Al Queada, the violence has not lessened due to our presence there, but increased. This last months fatality figures bear that out, with this last may being the deadliest month since May of 04'. Why? hmm..could be the "surge" or, it may just be that the sectarian violence there, like all religious conflicts cannot, and will not be controlled by anyone or anything. Bush, Cheney, Feith, Rice, Fox news, all lied to us 5 years ago, when they began deseminating false news, or doctored reports, I blame them for their shortsightedness, and now our country's division. Bush is not a uniter, but a divider, anyone that researches his governership will soon realize this. Larry, you may want to really educate yourself on what is happening in Iraq, and the political implications to the world on the outcome. If you can honestly sit in your chair, and say that Iraq was a good idea, well, you should probably take up smoking, drinking, and any other vice you can think of that will shorten your life, and is considered by most as a bad decision..because you've already done that to yourself now in believing this administrations crap on the war.
