Countdown Monday: Nexus of Politics & Terror

Keith Returns Tonight...

Fight or FlightThat Iraq has eclipsed the current presidency; that it will dominate the race for the next one -- we all already knew, and all too well.  How much -- we might not have guessed.  Last month was the deadliest month for Americans there in more than two-and-a-half months.  June has already seen the daily average escalate.  Our fifth story on the Countdown: The U-S military, announcing that 14-Americans have already been killed in the first three-days of June in Iraq... four of them in a single roadside bombing.  And the Democrats had to debate it.

The Plot ThinsThe JFK Terror plot... heavy on the hysteria... short on the "plot"... We'll ask an expert about the real impact of the possible attack.

ODDBALL:  A dubious call by a minor league umpire leads to an argument with the manager, then the manager freaks out and re-enacts a scene from "Platoon".  When it's this good, folks, you only need one story in Oddball.

Nexus of Politics and Terror:   Since last August, there had been a period of calm.   The screaming hair-on-fire pronouncements about terror plots that may have had real plotters but no real conceivable chance of actually happening... ceased.  That the period, spanned the time between the 2006 mid-term elections, and the week we reached exactly 18 months until the 2008 presidential election -- just a coincidence.  Our third story on the Countdown...from the mind-bending idea that four guys dressed as Pizza Delivery men were going to out-gun all the soldiers at Fort Dix...to the not-too-thought-out plan to blow-up J-F-K Airport... here we go again.   Time for an update of our segment "The Nexus of Politics and Terror".

Looking Ahead to Paris:  We're trying to fit 20 lbs of cranberry stuffing into a fifteen pound bird here, folks.  On a night when we have the Nexus of Politics and Terror, we need to shorten #2 to fit it all in (see #1).

WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD:  Television's biggest hit sensation (WPITW) is back, and Keith has a head of steam saved up for the Big Giant Head.

Paris in the Pokey:  Michael Musto helps console Keith as the first of Paris Hilton's twenty-something day prison stint begins.

These stories are all relevant, Keith, but, I depend on you above all the other talking heads on MSM to deliver the news. More important than Paris's time in the "Big House", more phony "terror" threats and most all the rest of the Headlines is the Tim Griffin-John Conyers-Greg Palast connection. How long are y'all gonna ignore the absolutely stellar work that Greg is doing? The guy actually has 500 of Karl's "missing" e-mails, which he turned over to Conyers last week. Hopefully you already knew this.If so, where's the story? If not, YOU"RE WELCOME!
Well hell. I guess Countdown decided not to take my challenge that they omit any reference to or story about Ms. Hilton and her ilk for a whole week. If only the prison stint under discussion was 180 YEARS for Cheney, Rowe, and, THE DECIDER.
Great review of all the phony propaganda this administration has spewed over the past six years. However, in addition to raising false flag after false flag, they have also deliberately covered up and concealed evidence of the real culprits behind Al Qaeda and 9/11. You mentioned the 28 pages that the administration redacted from the Joint Congressional Inquiry into the events of 9/11; 28 pages devoted almost entirely to detailing the links between 9/11 and Saudi Arabia. Well, that is just the tip of the iceberg: www.asecondlookatthesaudis.com
Regarding the Nexus of Politics and terror. Yes, it has been plainly obvious for a long time that whenever the Bush administration is in trouble a sudden "terror attack/scare/warning/outbreak/etc., ensues. What has not been discussed is the fact that it has been six years since the 9/11 attacks. How is it possible that in six years our government cannot make the USA, its borders, cities and monuments secure? In a country with unlimited means we cannot secure our nation? If another attack does happen, add it to Bush's long list of incompetant acts as president.
Your story about the Nexus of Politics and Terror reminded me yet again of why I "dislike strongly", ok, hate the Republicans and George Bush. Thank you!!! Not to mention, O'Reilly.
There is always a federal snitch. They have no money, weapons or sponsors but they have a plan on the back of a Bud label. The first may have been the South Florida History professor exonerated on all charges by a jury and I'm sure he ended up suing somebody for somehthing. Then there's the color coded threat from hell but we don't know where the threat is or who or what it is and if we knew we couldn't tell you unless you were of course already dead strangled with your duck tape beneath your Christmas tree. The Red Coats kicked down the doors of the Sons of Liberty at 4 am and shot the insurgents dead. The Christians burned Native American insurgents and religious non-conformists alive. The Nazis kicked down the doors of the French Underground insurgents at 4 am and shot them dead. Nixon shot four Kent State Student rebels dead at point blank range. Now, Republicans have ordered our soldiers to knock down the doors of Sunni insurgents and shoot them dead in the night to steal this oil reserve with a revenue sharing law giving Big Oil seventy percent, reconfiguring OPEC and controlling development and production of the second largest oil reserve on the planet. When the Klan was hanging slaves from Live Oaks, Southerners didn't have to do too much door knocking down to do. It still comes naturally to many of my brethren and stopping this ordained self righteousness is slow business, not unlike chemically bombing colored folks off their oil and telling them you've got their best interest and the best interest of their oil at heart. The deafening silence is the rest of the world not rushing to our aid as we bathe in the bloodletting of Republican greed. It would not surprise me in the least for them to stage a false attack against an electrical grid for instance in the desert where they could plant evidence. Nothing a Republican would do would surprise me. Our troops are begging us to bring them home before they die for this oil theft. GROW A SPINE AMERICA AND STOP THE KILLING ONE WAY OR ANOTHER.
What was the connection between (even if only coincidence, lol) was it the Police Chief of NYC and a fox reporter??? I may have to wait for transcripts, but if anyone remembers....please post. Thanks,
Wonder why Keith Olbermann showed John Edwards scolding Hilliary Clinton and Barack Obama for not showing "leadership" when they cast their votes against the spending bill at the last minute and without having announced previously how they would vote BUT fail to show Obama slapdown of Edwards? I have never known Keith Olbermann to be so blatantly unfair. Guess he received the memo as did Craig Crawford, Chris Matthews, George Will and all the others. Alas! If I cannot trust Olbermann.........
Keith: If I was not already happily married, I would be outside the studio to give you a big hug and kiss--I have been saying to just wait for it everytime something derogatory about the Bush Administration makes the news, and everytime, old Georgie does not disappoint me! On top of that, I had just finished a discussion with my husband about the fact that the whole plot senerio of blowing up a pipeline from JKF to Allentown Pa is not possible, and my favorite news anchor goes and says the same thing. Do you need a research assistant or anything? THANKYOU for being a defender of the Constitution, even if it does mean you will get audited for the rest of your life. We need you to keep saying what you do just to remind the rest of the robots out there who do not have a single thought in their empty brain...that serious crimes are being commited under the banner of GOVERNMENT in DC everyday.

Hey Keith - you forgot the terrorist bozos who's plot took up days of the news cycle during the early days of the US Attorney scandal or pehaps it was during the Libby guilty verdict or maybe the Rove email scandal ..... I get all these scandals and their subsequent "lets get the media off the story " events mixed up - you know - the ones who wanted money from the federal agent so they buy shoes and uniforms for their team.
Your history of the White House's use of fear to manipulate the citizenry by manipulating the news cycle makes me worried that when it gets too hot in Iraq for Bush to repeat his demagogic rants about staying the course, the White House may very well stage another terror threat to justify staying in Iraq. And we can all count on it, there will be another terror threat just before the election, and it will be a doozy. Who in the news media is going to not only investigate these threats in a timely manner, but make the cooked up stories front page news and and headline news on the talking heads programs. Your reporting on the scandalous lies they told, and the evidence that they were lies was mostly news to me. Were these stories buried to placate the corporate masters? Where is the investigative journalism that is the antidote to demagoguery? (Besides Keith Olberman, that is).
Excellent work on updating the Nexus of Politics and Terror, Keith. Did I play some small role in inspiring this update with my earlier comment on wondering whether this latest one just before a Democratic debate was a coincidence or not? I'd like to think so. And let's not forget it's right before the Scooter Libby sentencing too! Oh yeah...Either way, welcome back, and now let's get on that voter caging thing, OK? And don't forget the Dictator Directive! We still haven't heard about it!
OK...I normally give a rat's *** about Paris Hilton or any other "celebrity" flavor of the day. But, after the brilliant exhaustive sobering "Nexus of Politics & Terror" update, I welcomed a bit of comic relief. A person much wiser than me said, "If we didn't laugh, we'd all go insane." Cut Keith and COUNTDOWN's producers a little slack.
#1. It's not her Daddy's Hilton. #2. If it's going to Paris, stick a file in it, too. #3. They spent the last six months watching 'Goldfinger". #4. I'm no expert but the term 'Cherry Bomb' comes to mind, that is, if yer' Cherry Pickin'. #5. Just when Dubya let's it leak that we're in it for a thousand years. Does he mean a "Reich" or sumpthin'?
Tonights "Nexus of Politics and Terror" segment was amazing! I sat there with my jaw on the floor. Thank you Keith for putting this together.
Great piece about the nexus of politics and terror. Oberman does us a great service by connecting the dots with these alleged terrorists plots the administration puts on display for us about the time their numbers in the polls are suffering. Clearly the administration is great at going after the nut-cases and blowing their "plots" out of proportion to the seriousness they attribute to them.
Keith, thanks for reporting the Fox News link reguarding the JFK airport plot. None of the other networks mentioned it and the Nexus of Politics and Terror are always so eye opening. I appreciate all you do for calling out the cowards and making them accountable for their misdeeds. You always speak so eloquently for the American people and we thank you.
Must agree with Indy/Tx Keith. Today on CNN 2 male reporters were discussing the Hilton incarceration; one pro, one con. Panning back to the female anchor, she was holding an opened newspaper in front of her face. After a slight, pregnant pause she lowered it stating: "oh! sorry gentlemen; I was just catching-up on some 'real' news. Give it a rest PLEASE for the duration of her stay. Then, after 3 weeks of monochrome orange she'll be in the throes of SWS (Schiaparelli withdrawal syndrome); will have had no access to '72 Chateau Neuf-du-Pape, but rather Tang and should be errr ... sufficiently 'randy' to give you something substantial to cover. It will be a 'break-out'evening for her (no pun intended) and given past inclination, she'll likely film it before you do.
Loved the review tonight! Keith, you are brilliant! I forgot half the stuff you brought up, guess that is what "they" want us to do. Keep up the good work. You are my hero. MK
No current Presidential candidate has the foggiest as to what they would do about the Iraq conflict if elected, Democrat or Republican. As stated many times, the curtains on the debates came down as of the November elections, and there is no confusion about what the American people want. (1) fund those troops currently in Iraq with the money and supplies neecessary to keep them viable and (2) quickly develop a plan and implement the same to get our troops out of harms way (either via bringing them home or redeployment). It has been 7 months since the November elections. I see no plan to redeploy, the Dems and Bush argued over the funding, the Dems wanted to tie funding to other spending, then to holding a non-viable Iraqi government to benchmarks, and then timetables that exceeded a year or more before our troops were redeployed. Bush and company wish to stay the course. There is no leadership. Where are specific plans that might take an evening of brain-storming to successfully redeploy our troops. I don't want to hear we need first to decide what we are going to do (Independent - smile). I want to see some detailed specific redeployment plans that any monkey with some sense could come up with. Again, as the debate continues 14 more American kids lose their lives to an enemy they never saw, they could not fight, they could not defend themselves against. It is disgusting. It is a crime against humanity what we are asking our young military personnel to do. Perhaps not in a court of law, but in the court of care and concern for your fellow human beings, I have to agree with Pam, San Pedro. Bush and Cheney are guilty of the worst violations of human decency (a disregard for the senseless loss of American and innocent Iraqi lives).
All and all Keith is doing a great job at keeping some of the viewers hanging on, because most halfway intelligent, reasonable people know that our current administration and their partners in crime have been shall we say "Less than honest with us". And most of the main stream media takes that ridiculous view as if they're not sure if bush is telling the truth or not, and this leads the average viewer extremely turned off to the talking heads, even Chris Matthews looses it when he implies that we still have a great law abiding government. Reasonable people know the government did 9/11, and they also know that Keith knows, but we also know that Keith would loose his job if he mentioned it in any way shape or form. So we look at Keith from time to time, wondering how he’s gonna handle issues such as Rosie's comments or Charlie Sheen. If Keith implies that the governments impossible theory is true then he runs the risk of loosing all credibility with his viewers, but if he says anything to "Let the cat out of the bag" MSNBC will make him the next Imus. So it's interesting to see Keith's reaction to those questions that come up now and then. We know that he knows that we know that he knows. It's beautiful. Sad story and sad state of affairs, but at least we know who knows.
Does anyone have a transcript on the number 3 story? That was brilliant
Ya know, I wish the DICK and George (and all the rest of their war mongering lapdogs) could have been sitting on my brothers back porch this morning. As our weekend has dwindled down and my siblings have slowly left, a few of us watched the news about 14 Americans being killed in Iraq. Two of my sisters and I looked at each other then looked at John. I wonder how many people know what it's like to see silent tears running down their brothers cheeks, knowing that his wife is already there and that he will soon be departing for that hell hole. I wonder how many people have heated 'debates' with their loved ones about this war, but the heated debates are heated not because of opposing view points, but because of the absolute fear of losing their brother or sister in law. I know for some of you that it may seem like the war in Iraq is the only thing I think about-not true. However, my 8 brothers and sisters are my best friends, my confidantes, my heroes. I can't explain how I feel-and if you've never felt it yourself, then you will never understand. I'm scared-scared like I've never been before. John has been to Afghanistan and Iraq already, so I don't know why this is different. Maybe because the tactics of the unknown enemy are ever changing and there seems to be no safe place in Iraq anymore. Maybe because with the deployments of two my bros and my sister in law, that it's almost like Russian roulette. I don't know. I do know that there is no measure of victory in Iraq. I do know that 14 MORE Americans are dead. I do know that there are people who will continually support the president and his failed policies in Iraq and Afghanistan, and I do know that I just want this all to end and for my family to be whole again. PEACE!
Great job, Keith, to point out the suspicious coincidences between terror alerts and political setbacks for king George. No need to weara tin hat to see the pattern. You could even have added the recent headline-hogging public scare about the drug-resistant-TB carrier who was going to fatally infect two continents. Now it turns out said carrier was never contagious and had been told so by the CDC, and that the entire story appears to be due to incompetence at the CDC. In an article on News-Medical.Net titled "The real villain in TB jet flying case is the ...?" (http://www.news-medical.net/?id=25977) the writer concludes: "The actions of the CDC are questionable and raise the suspicion that by invoking the first federal quarantine order in forty years, which requires the signature of the President of the United States, that there was some other motive involved. The quarantine order was lifted over the weekend accompanied by little if any major publicity. However, Mr. Speaker remains confined to a Denver hospital under an isolation order from the state of Colorado and the public must be forgiven for suspecting this is yet another case of 'overkill' given the repeated assertions of the 'experts' at the CDC that he was non-infectious even before treatment." You pick which among the many ongoing scandals this bogus international health alert may have been meant to crowd from the screens but it sure did a good job while the scare lasted.
Um, Steve, I think you assume too much. I don't think there's any reason to assume anyone else's belief in tinfoil-hat 9/11 theories unless and until they state them outright. What Keith's doing with "The Nexus of Politics and Terror" is simply pointing out how interesting it is that there always seems to be a new "terra alert" or announcement of a big "terra plot" foiled right around the time the White House most needs to distract the public from its troubles or from the actions of Democrats. And that it's worth all of us being skeptical because, in the immortal words of Todd Rundgren, "You cried wolf once too often!" Way more than once, actually! Making you wonder just how dumb they really expect us to be...
Ditto to Erik's question: I'm stuck in the hinterlands w a dial up (can't do streaming) and no TV access to MSNBC. Can I get access to this "Nexus" thing? Also - the damdest thing: Wasn't getting blog updates for hours so I turned off the browser all together. To do other work later, I turned it back on and gave this blog a try and, behold, bunches of blog updates. Is this a problem in my system or fortuitous timing when I tried again?
Dawn from Oceanside - the Police Chief is the daddy of a Fox (Faux) News reporter (can I really call them that - they really aren't reporters - maybe "propaganda specialist" is a better title) according to the segment on Countdown.
I would love to have a copy of the nexus.
The problem with the government is that they are merely puppets of military industrialists who are making fortunes at the expense of dead Iraqi's and dead American soldiers. Think about, Haliburton's stock went up over 3,000% since we began this illegal and immoral war. So what the heck are the lives of 3400 ++ American soldiers, and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis worth in compariosn to 30 times on your money. That's why some people call it blood money.
Never mind - unless it changed from one item to the next, the "Nexus" text is in the link provided in the "The Plot Thins" item. When I first tried to bring that up in my browser, the tab was labeled with the word "video". Under this arcane dial-up I'm forced to use, I can't recieve a video so I turned the tab off without waiting to see what the link was. The next time I was more patient and let the page display to reveal the text. Sorry for taking your time on this.
Erik Weinberger, Woodland Hills; You can get the transcript tomorrow, on countdowns homepage just click on transcripts & scroll down to Kieth Olbermann June 4th, it takes about 24 hr's to appear.
Erik just do what Independent said didn't see it there thank's Independent.
Folks who want us out of Iraq - watch how fast we leave as soon as the Iraqi Parliament passes the Oil Sharing Agreement (should be called the Oil Stealing Agreement). This agreement is the #1 Priority of BushCo and gives the lions share of Iraq's oil to foreing (read OUR) oil companies for 30 years and only about 8% to the Iraqis themselves. BushCo will no longer talk about staying there to establishfreedom, democracy, stabilization, "fight em there", etc. It's gonna be "adios Iraq" with the speed of light. KEITH - if we really can't have the Bush Dictator Story can you at least have Greg Palast or John Conyers on to discuss the vote caging operation that Rove and his Injustice Department coven were doing? The some of missing emails that the Judiciary Committees have been trying to get were sent to the wrong place and ended up being forwarded to Greg Palast. He just turned them over to John Conyers, Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. Further reading at ..... gregpalast.com ...... enjoy.
The great coverage that Countdown has produced on the Gonzogate scandal suggests that this might be just what Keith is looking for. I have not been yet convinced if Gregg Palast is a conscientious investigative reporter or a tabloid sensationalist, but this story should be both worthy and easily vetted. I hope, if Mr. Olbermann or a member of his staff reads this, this story will be investigated and, if accurate, reported. http://www.bradblog.com/?p=4594
John, Phila: Looks like C A was right, and well-- you were wrong! Kieth did mention Congressman Jefferson being indicted. Kieth also informs the american people about Monica Goodlings admited law breaking, & how many of our brave troops have died in Iraq, somthing you won't hear from Fox, but then Michael Reagan thinks the american people shouldn't be told anything.
Bush has declared that he will be Dictator the next time there is a terrorist plot, but these guys were less "terrorists" that Brownie was a "FEMA director". The Dictator on demand story, and the "caging' Of Timmy Griffin, and all the "Timmyclones" still in office are the real story. If Paris had half the gumption her father had, she would recognize a cash cow when she was slammed in one. The profit margins are way higher, and you can get away with skimping on all the amenities you charge outrageously for. That little private "Hotel" business is also a much neglected topic. Any of these would have been better than what was on the case. I love your work Kieth, but all that money looks like it is dulling your edge.
Independent, Texas; I to am still on dial up, but still can listen to the sound on the video clips, it only takes a minute or two, the video is still, but i can hear the broadcast fine with a pause here & there, have you tried that? I hope to have high speed in about 2 weeks.
RE: The Worst Person in the World. Keith, would you or your producers get over what ever it is between you or them and Bill O'Reilly? This constant harping about him is sophormic at best and just plain childish.Yup, he is over the top sometimes but I'd rather listen or ignore his rantings than listen to your childish whinning about how evil he is. Grow up and grow a pair would you please? It's hard to tell who is the bigger dope you or Bill as you both slant way to far to one side or the other. Move on!
You might also check truthout.org tomorrow. They usually provide a text version and a video version of KO's special comments and stories like the one tonight showing the nexus between politics and terror. They also run Greg Palast regularly as well as other thoughtful writers not seen or heard in mainstream media. If Palast has those emails, I am dying to see them.
carol durham, spartanburg, s.c., ahhh you hicks from south carolina always vote for the same republican conservative guys anyway and Have done so since Barry Goldwater and being pissed about Kennedy, LBJ and, Civil Rights. The only decent leader and senator and political brain out of that state in the past 50 years has been Earnest "Fritz" Hollings. He called this mess on the way out of the Senate in his "who's going to pay for the war speech of 4/2004".You all are so afraid of change your still living behind the fear and resentment of the Civil rights movement. There are probably some white hoods stuffed sway in some closets still down there some where. And I am betting you don't really care about that issue anyway. You just another ho hum "cack a lack" run of the mill Carolina Republican. We call em "Graham Crackers" as in Lindsey.Yes and do know these things from experience.I worked in your factories for the "slave coolie wages they paid cause that' all they had for a lot of folks being elected with I brought industry to South Carolina.Damn right you did cheap labor was like about $1.25 or $1.55 an hr back 1965 then in some factories.Yeah them northern union busters were moving down there left and right.Emm Hmm.I lived with share croppers the upgrade from slavery, yeah lets criticize Kieth Olbermann and Countdown.Get the plank out of your own eye sister and be gland you still have freedom of speech without having a cross burnt on you lawn or being beat to hell for your believes.Don't you? Or is that still the status quo in some parts? And by all means keep voting for the same old shit out of fear, because it after all it's safe and warm and by all means CHANGE might give you some of your DREAMS.The one thing we can count on is not to count on S.C. ever changing.I am not gonna go into here. You haven't got it from brighter minds than mine.Keep making that big money for those big benefits and sending your children to their wars and patting one another on the back for being such patriots, without ever knowing what the hell just happened.Carolina is a beautiful state but it's stuck in the past.
Don Oubre - That is the way video works for me as well but I am too impatient to wait through the pauses. They can last for as long as a minute sometime!! I have no hope of high-speed except for one satellite company that charges based on downloads. I don't even know how to deal with that. It is way more expensive too. I checked it out because I really would like to watch Countdown.
Um, Tru M. Maybe on the surface people "pretend" to believe in the fairy tale that a man in a cave was able to suspend the laws of physics on 9/11 and cause the WTC buildings to do impossible magic tricks, such as collapsing at free fall speed, but when they are honest within themselves they know the laws of gravity and reality are permanent. Yes, as hard as it may be to accept, the laws of physics are even more RELIABLE than the word of your president. Have you ever heard the term "Actor"? I know this might be a little deep for you, but sometimes politicians and even talking heads put on an act, they pretend to be something when they are not, they pretend to be great leaders and great saviors who only care about the welfare of the citizens, but in reality they are very selfish and greedy, taking bribes and kick-backs from lobbyists and other financial backers. It's true there are many people, even adults who seem to be stuck in tele tubby land, where life is simple and everything the president says is true, and in this great fantasy land all true american republican christians are good, heaven bound people and everyone else is headed for hell in a hand basket, because narrow is the way and they interpret that as meaning narrow minded. But in this place we call reality, or the real world, we know that the laws of physics, gravity and reality don't change. Presidents and congressmen and other disingenuous individuals may come and go, but the laws of reality are here for ever. And that is why I said "REASONABLE" people. Maybe I should have included halfway intelligent people that are still able to think for themselves and do complex math equations like 2 + 2 = 4, even though your president has some people convinced that 2 + 2 = 17. They even try to label people who go by true science and the laws of physics as being tin foil hat people, but in reality it's the mindless followers of this corrupt regime that are apparently wearing the preverbal tin foil hat. Now let me give you another clue about how reality works regarding Keith, and why he's pretty popular, (at least for now) It's because the mass public has become so disgusted with the lies and total corruption on the part of the media that people in masses are turning their televisions off and going to the Internet. Trying to find out the skinny on main stream news is like asking OJ Simpson's lawyer to give an unbiased account of what really happened. It's called a conflict of interest. How can you expect the main stream media to reveal some of the truth about the real criminals, when the real criminals are sponsoring their networks? So people in large numbers realize you simply cannot get anything remotely honest on any television news outlet so they turn to the Internet. Also the main stream news is really peeeeing people off to no end, because it's obvious how they've betrayed the public trust by only airing things that are approved by their masters. And so to keep some of their viewers they had to give them a little truth, not too much, they could never do that, but they give them just enough to restore a little confidence in their audiences, they give us Keith to satisfy our craving for some truth, even a tiny bread crumb of truth will be great in this dry land. It's rich in Buuuuuullll puckey, but it's so dry in the field of truth that seeing Keith come on and speak is like your in the desert, dying of thirst and you find a canteen with some water in it. Your so grateful to quench your thirst you don't really care if the water is perfect or not, as long as it’s wet you'll drink it, but the stuff on Fox news and other places on MSNBC come right from the sewer so you know better than to digest anything from there. And that's the way it is, good night and good luck!!! www.iwilltryit.com
Speaking of Greg Palast, I too thought he was a great investigative reporter...but did anyone read that he thinks 9-11 truthers are tinfoil hat wearers because he "saw the video of the plane hitting WTC 7"? WTF???
Could we make this required reading for The decider, etal? (we can provide someone to read it aloud to him, someone who has a basic knowledge in word comprehension) Do you think they could grasp the concept that WE grasp the concept of fear-mongering? Or are they like the little kid who when he closes his eyes thinks that he disappears (or bushspeak misundisappears)? It'll be tough to impeach-- Gonzo's making up the rules as they go along. Damn!
I am a voice among many, the common people, who see that the military complex has a firm grip on the executive branch and it will falsify intelligence and stop at little to keep it’s killing machine alive and well. This complex which benefits economically must be contained and commanded by the larger majority which are not willing to sacrifice innocent lives for economic gain. The empty value of economic gain is poised to rear it’s ugly head in environmental degradation which will not discriminate it’s wrath of death and destruction. It will be the great equalizer. The time to fight it is now and the military complex had better be redeployed to manage the catastrophic events about to unfold. Weaponry in this fight is useless. In lieu of such pressing matters I can not bring myself back to the minor injustices I wish I could correct for the sake of our future generations. Suffice it to say that America’s founding fathers had great insight and it’s directives should not be in such a contemporary contempt. Hypocrisy stems from the deviation of that original intent and brings shame to our great nation.
Don: So good to see you again my friend.
Kieth you are the best. As soon as I hear rhe beat of the drums of yet another TERROR PLOT I know it is the usual bs from wh. This one is a doozy IT should be called "THE OVER THE HILL GANG". How stupid can these people be who feed us this BS , how can any one take anything they say as true. The terriost in the wh is to be feared the most. PLease, Please do not stop talking about Gonsouless, we need to get that abomination of an AG the hell out of power. Keep him in the crosshairs(if only we could load the gun) with the brown, stinky stuff he wears so well.
Keith, I'm a big fan of yours, but I've gotta break with you on story #4--using box cutters to hijack airliners isn't necessarily a "sophisticated" terror plot either. While it's feasible to suspect the timing of these plots as a critical journalist (and given the constant lies of the Bush Admin.), I think it's borderline irresponsible on Countdown's part to take such an aggressive stance so shortly after the foiled JFK plot. Great Worst Person segment last night, though, one of your best yet.
