The 'President's Cluelessness'

Posted: Sunday, June 24, 2007 9:00 PM by Countdown

We know we've assigned a lot of reading for a Sunday - but this Rolling Stone investigation is required, sorry. The more articles like this we read, the more we realize that one of the men in the photo above is the President of the United States, and one seems to be not much more than our national mascot.

The Secret Campaign of President Bush's Administration to Deny Global Warming.
Cheney took full advantage of the president's cluelessness, bringing the CEQ (the Council on Environmental Quality, a policy arm of the White House) into his own portfolio. "The environment and energy issues were really turned over to him from the beginning," Whitman says. The CEQ became Cheney's shadow EPA, with industry calling the shots. To head up the council, Cheney installed James Connaughton, a former lobbyist for industrial polluters, who once worked to help General Electric and ARCO skirt responsibility for their Superfund waste sites.

Industry swiftly took advantage of its new friend in the White House. In a fax sent to the CEQ on February 6th, 2001 - two weeks after Bush took office - ExxonMobil's top lobbyist, Randy Randol, demanded a housecleaning of the scientists in charge of studying global warming. Exxon urged CEQ to dump Robert Watson, who chaired the IPCC, along with Rosina Bierbaum and Mike MacCracken, who had coordinated the National Assessment

Exxon's wish was the CEQ's command. According to an internal e-mail obtained by Rolling Stone, Connaughton's first order of business - even before his nomination was made public - was to write his White House colleagues-to-be from his law firm of Sidley & Austin. He echoed Exxon's call that Bierbaum, the acting director of the Office of Science and Technology Policy, be "dealt." In the end, each of the scientists on Exxon's hit list was replaced. "It was clear there was a strong lobby and activity against me by some in the energy industry - especially ExxonMobil," says Watson.

Scott: I appreciate the civility towards me but as I stated before, when you decided to come on to a site where you know many if not most are going to disagree with your views and opinions you can expect to be confronted. And because people are very passionate about their beliefs, perhaps more so those who come on to these blogs, you will also receive responses that are not so civil. The same would apply and happen to many people here if they were to visit a site that was visited by a majority of conservative Bush supporters. If people would just tone down their comments when disagreeing with others, including you at times Scott, and refrain from anything that looks like a personal attack, then everyone could have a healthy convseration on here and share thoughts, ideas and opinions, even those that totally disagree on an issue. Forget the Muslim or Christian thing. One thing I learned a long time ago, that when discussing politics or religion, it is very difficult making a point without offending someone. People say they are open to debate about issues that are personally very close and private to them, but in the end most cannot keep the emotions flying to a degree even if another makes somewhat of a legitmate point. I knew what you meant when you inferred "at this time" it appears that Islamic fanatics are carrying out the majority of the terrorits activities around the globe. I suppose not being more specific and also inferring that Muslims across the globe are the most violent group is what set off this emotional debate. So think before you write something, disagree with a person's comments or beleifs if you wish, but keep the personal rhetoric down. Maybe it would help if everyone here would start out their posts (if addressing a specific person) by stating first, John Doe I enjoy your posts, but I disagree with you on this point..blah..blah. Finally Scott, it would seem to me that there are a lot of very intelligent people on here from all walks of life, but no one is a total expert on all issues and most posts are opinions. And many that don't have one or who can't support theirs by way of personal knowledge will research and recommend other sites where they quote another person who has written their opinion. We can talk about Iraq all we want but unless someone has served their and has personally observed the daily events and incidents, they really can't give a complete and accurate picture and what perhaps should or should not be done. And those who use name calling or personal attacks (whether initially or in response to someone who they think started it) are just lowering their intelligence level in front of everyone else here no matter which side they are defeidning. In any case Scott, those are my thoughts.
Ya know if Congress tried to impeach Cheney, he would probably try to abolish them.
PEACE!
You know I could not understand them either after all, Bush didn't go to fight a war, he got to drunk to go and his daddy got him out. Chenney never went to war either so what die hart repubicans in the military exactly been proud of recarding this president or chenney I will never know. But I know for a fact that many of them turned against the rebulican party because of this mess. I guess 2600 + dead soldiers can do that. The pad part is, that there is no end inside. Bush & Co have nothing to loose why would they care. Nobody in there family is figthing this war.
"Scott, Hitler was a product of a Christian background. The orders to drop the bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki were given by Christians too, so are the people who ordered the invasion of Iraq thereby taking many innocent lives. Nobody blames Christianity for their actions. Take a good look in the mirror before pointing your finger at Muslims. "

Hitler was a Heathen Pagan, even modern neo Pagans have admitted that. He was a twisted little jerk who's main source of inspiration as a child was a series of Western novels written by a German author, the equivalent of the later spaghetti westerns.
The OSS files on Hitler's scheme to destroy Christianity are now declassified and available in PDF from Rutgers University.
Also the SS included a large contingent of Muslim volunteers who's job it was to hunt down both Jews and Serbian Christians.
While Harry Truman was a Democrat and former KKK member, I don't consider either of those things a factor in the tactical necessity of using the A-bomb to end WW2.
The Japanese had already begun to use bubonic plague as a bioweapon against the Chinese and had demonstrated that their quaint little balloon bombs could in fact reach the continental US.
They also had five large cyclotrons and an active nuclear weapons program, plus submarines capable of reaching our shores and launching aircraft from sealed compartments on the decks.

Ask the Islamic Terrorists where they get their inspiration. The Hadiths are what they depend on not the Koran itself.
Here's what they need to do. Simply put. Once the Democratrs get in office, pull the ExxonMobil Lobbyists to the side and read them the riot act. Let then know that they will still make their huge profits but they don't run crap. The people do. Let then know quite bluntly that they keep out of the way or the House and Senate will run hearings exposing what the company they work for has been doing. Also let then know that if the war they wanted in the Iraq keeps up and we need a draft, we won't just draft their kids, we'll toss them into the front lines.
W. Young  - Google "Justification for Hiroshima & Nagasaki", it might be an eye opener for you. Just as some people can still justify the invasion of Iraq there are some who also feel the bombings of H & N were justified. Sorry, I completely disagree.

Nowhere in the Hadith does it tell you its okay to take innocent lives. People are people and they'll twist facts to suit their purpose. The whole point I'm trying to make is that it's wrong to make sweeping generalizations. There are evil people in every religion and they'll be judged for their actions but in no way should the religion itself or all the followers of it be put in the same category as the terrorists.
Paul Barba: I don't disgree with you regarding the Dems reading the riot act to the ExxonMobil lobbyists once in office, but what do they do with the lobbyists and special interests groups that helped them get elected into office and that they also owe their souls too.
Well just a quick one. First I am no expert, and this is just a feeling I get from reading and listening to various news sources.

It seems to me that we will probably not have a constitutionally led government in a few short years. It feels like this administration is setting it up so that it will, after the next national threat, declare that some form of special session or marshal law is necessary to protect our country and will seize total control. It just feels like Cheney will take charge directly (or indirectly through his puppet) and the Republic of America will go the way of the Republic of Rome. It just seems that the seeds have been sown, Gonzales has compromised the Judicial branch, war mongers still emasculate the Legislative and Cheney has exploited the loop hole in the constitution and has trapped the puppet and runs the Executive. Only the people are left, but with the rise of warrant-less spying I doubt they will be much of a vanguard in protecting the constitution.

Empire America isn't coming, it seems, it is here. The Dumbing of America has played well into Cesar's hand.

Only a ground swell of public opinion now and not later seems to be our only hope. It seems to me the greatest threat we face today is the destruction of the Three, independent and co-equal branches of the Government.

John Doe, Seattle, Wash. (Sent Tuesday, June 26, 2007 1:19 PM)

You nailed it. Everything else pales in comparison.

Countdown to Inauguration Day 2009: 574 days(Thanks First Read)

Will we make it?
PA, Los Angeles - Thank you!! AMEN!! How you did that so kindly, well, I'm working on it!!
John Doe, Seattle, Wash. - Great piece of work!! Thank you!!
C A - At least the democrats will place them under oath. As when it was the democrats who wanted them under oath a couple of years back, obviously when the republicans were "arrogantly in charge", it was the republicans who stated, "NO, there is no need to place them under oath".

It was the democrats who insisted on placing them all under oath, and the republicans quickly stopped them. I do agree that some democrats have sold out to the lobbyists and special interest groups, but not all, and certainly not near as many in comparison to the republicans that have.

Yeah, the republicans, as usual, were looking for us during those hearings!! For me, it was a VERY telling sign!!

soon to be texashogfan,
I have signed every possible petition to impeach them all online and a few other things too.
Hitler was a pagan?  ROFLMAO.  Oh, that's a good one.  Revisionist Christian zealots . . . who knew they had a sense of humor?

Hilter was very much a Christian so chew on this, W. Young, courtesy of Wikipedia (which only confirms every history book I ever read on this topic):

"Hitler was raised by Roman Catholic parents, but as a school boy he rejected Catholicism and was influenced by nationalism. Apparently, after Hitler left home, he never attended Mass or received the sacraments.

In later life, Hitler's religious beliefs present a discrepant picture; publicly he often spoke positively of the Christian heritage of German culture and of belief in Christ. Hitler’s private statements, as reported by his intimates, are more mixed, showing Hitler as a religious man but also critical of Christianity. However, in contrast to other Nazi leaders, Hitler did not adhere to esoteric ideas, occultism, or neo-paganism, and ridiculed such beliefs in his book Mein Kampf. Rather, Hitler advocated a "Positive Christianity", a belief system purged from what he objected to in traditional Christianity, and which reinvented Jesus as a fighter against the Jews.

Hitler believed in Arthur de Gobineau's ideas of struggle for survival between the different races, among which the "Aryan race"—guided by "Providence"—was supposed to be the torchbearers of civilization and the Jews as enemies of all civilization. Whether his anti-semitism was influenced by older Christian ideas remains disputed.

Among Christian denominations, Hitler favored Protestantism, which was more open to such reinterpretations. At the same time, he adopted some elements of the Catholic Church's hierarchical organization, liturgy and phraseology in his politics."

And here is a bit of trivia for you free of charge: the internal structure of the SS was based on how the Jesuits run their order.  Did you know that?  Yeah, your "pagan" used the Roman Catholic Church as an organizational role model.

Here's the link, in case you think I was making things up, you know, like YOU do:

Have a nice day.
