Countdown Tuesday: Cheney World

Posted: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 12:01 AM by Countdown
Filed Under:

Sorry so late, folks...

Cheney World:  President Bush may be the decider, but his decisions are often filtered by the one and only man-branch Vice President Cheney.  Rep. Rahm Emanuel is on to chat with Keith over his efforts to have the VP's office defunded, since Cheney says he's not part of the executive branch.  It's a congressional purse strings thing.

Ex Lugar:  He's the latest Republican to break ranks and ask the President to bring troops home.  He says he took months to arrive at his decision...but he finally came around.  Gee, thanks.

ODDBALL:  Ooh, baby...don't miss tonight's oddball.  It was so great.  So SO great!

Factor Fiction:  Bill O'Reilly gets his lunch handed to him by a 16-year-old high school kid (for the second time in as many weeks).  We just can't pass up the opportunity to enjoy the moment.

Cruise Control:  The controversy over Tom Cruise's movie currently filiming in Germany.  The descendants of the German fella Tom is playing doesn't want a scientology guy pretending to be his dad.

WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD:  Well, if you saw the show, you'll notice that our graphic producer used the wrong image of the ultimate worst for this fine Tuesday.  Worstie fans will know what we're talking about.

Viva Le Paris!:  She's sprung from the cooler, she looked fabulous and we wrapped up the day's ridiculous coverage with a redux of the get out of jail news and the one and only Michael Musto.

I repeatedly ran into people who said "Bush wasn't smart enough" when I argued that this administration had deliberately planned to destabilize the entire Middle East and provoke an even broader war by actually spurring on an Iraqi civil war.  Everybody seemed to think they just had bad luck or messed up...  Well, low and behold... Looks like ‘boy blunder’ wasn't in charge after all.

This entire situation reminds me about how a republican strategist actually came out and said on TV that Dan Quail was deliberately chosen to be Bush Sr.'s running mate so that his stupidity would deliberately draw attention away from the Iran Contra scandal.  Oh boy... everybody made so much fun of Quail that any other news and Iran could hardly trickle in.  So I wonder, is George just a name-plate spokes person for a divisive and power-hungry neocon party deliberately chosen to draw votes and help lull us into thinking Iraq was just a big mistake???

We’ve all been focusing on George, but if you look even before 9/11 you can tell they had something grand in mind right from the start.  Sending spy planes and ships to within 20 miles of a major Chinese naval base was their first action and was about as provocative as you could possibly get.  They offered to sell Taiwan an Ageis Navy destroyer and then... Colon Powell himself went around (BEFORE 9/11) unbelievably petitioning European nations to sign an agreement that they would never turn over any US soldiers accused of WAR CRIMES to an international tribunal – an action that should have sparked some serious concerns to say the least as it is against international law.
#1. She survived the Dungeon with the help of her Patron Saint Jesus Malverde. #2.  Look at it this way.  It could be John Travolta pretending to be his Mom. #3. Careful kid. Bill will send FOX-trained Hall Monitor Thugs to your school. #4.  Actually it only took Lugar five minutes, a couple of days ago, when he realized he was gonna get skunked in '08. #5. If Cheney has gotten out of the loop, doesn't that make Nancy Pelosi second in line to the Throne if Dubya either croaks or cracks?  Cheney, in his own private Netherworld, has only his mouth to blame.
There it is! Now my day is over.

Thanks Steve
And Independent:  You ask and you shall receive!  The Countdown breakdown, courtesy of our own Steve Turner.

Thanks Steve.  Your comments certainly brighten this blog and my day (or evening)!

PEACE!
OK thats it Ann Coulter the truth comes out how you got the way you are,you ignorant foul sleazy slut.I watched that hit on the Edwards family a over and over as well as the Chris Matthews Interview with Mrs Edwards. You and Der Dickhur belong together. Two of a kind.

So I think I finally have figured out your vile problem and how you became so damaged. While you were under VP Dicks desks trying to straighten his things out(you know the monica method you claim to know so well bj scott, john phila) he crossed his legs and thereby caused a whip lash to that lizard neck of yours going strait to your bird brain causing such a fuss you can't figure out whether your a man or a woman.I bet that was some site under there eh Ann all those classified documents and some of Roves old hard drives and bunch of other missing stuff the boys have been looking for over at the Judiciary Committee.Dicks underwear?A bunch of Scooters stuff.Well that's all classified and he doesn't have to share it right Ann?

Wishing ill on John Edwards and Mrs Edwards and their family.I'm telling ya bitch there's an 86 mph rotten tomato waiting for your pinched face ass out there somewhere compliments of the UFW.I don't have that pitch but I bet some immigrant farm worker has one.We had a guy named Lopez played some good ball and pitched. His family had been farm workers.

You were whining about the Edwards fund raising and made a horrible statement on Monday which epitomizes the slime of character and political affiliation.Which ship did you come in on when the pods landed?Nothing on this planet resembles anything you could be a part of except perhaps shit. That could be the title of your next book. How I became the Shit I am Ann I am.

If there are a couple bucks left over from one of those fund raisers we'll see if we can't get you some breast implants,a new dress, and see if we cant get you castrated so you will be less harmful to the world and mankind in general. You know help you figure out if I am a man or woman Ann thing.Well the rest I don't know judging by what ya said about Senator Edwards I guess you side with the terrorist and maybe Dick should have your sleazy vile little ass marched off to Gitmo.

I'm not going to say anything more about Ann Coulter anymore.I just wished they would have used better birth control. We aren't gonna go to the level she went on Monday about John Edwards that speaks for itself.

You guys are right. Where was Ann Coulter's eye patch? I missed the Pirate Annie image. Seeing both her eyes at once is more than I personally can bear. Come to think of it, seeing that revolting witch at all is more than I personally can bear.
Fire the graphic producer!! Just kidding. Need to find another image, other then the patch over the eye. More like horns coming out of the head.
Well, when the #1 story came on and Musto was there, I turned off the television.  He needs to be disinvited to the show, permanently.  Bad enough we have to have Paris Hilton coverage, but to have a creep like Musto on just to see how outrageously he can insult her, that's not something I'm interested in seeing.

The rest of the show wasn't bad, though.  I especially enjoyed the guinea pigs all dressed up.  Cute!

I'm also curious in a "watch the train wreck" sense about how the Coultergeist's appearance on Hardball went.  I refuse to even watch video of her, because my blood pressure doesn't need that kind of elevation, but a summation would be good.  Even the transcript of her phone call w/Eliz Edwards made my blood boil and I had to stop reading it.  Ugh.
Steve in Cedar Falls, Lugar won re-election in 2006 by a margin of 85-15.
Good morning, everyone! Well, last night's COUNTDOWN was wonderful and a laugh riot for me! My fair state and city not only made the #4 story, but we got an ODDBALL segment as well!! I haven't been this proud (??) of living in Indianapolis in a long long LONG time!:) ("Indiana, oh Indiana, Indiana we're all for you. We'll fight for the cream and crimson..." sorry for breaking into the Indiana University fight song. Half my husband's family, including my husband, are IU alums, so it's kind of been forced upon me).

If memory serves, Senator Lugar is going to the White House for a "meeting" (aka being taken to the wood shed) later on this week. If our dictator-wanna-be VP is going to be part of the meeting, Senator Lugar may want to invest in a bullet-proof vest if he doesn't already have one. I mean, hell, if Cheney managed to shoot someone in the face that he called "my friend," what the hell is he going to do to one of my senators? I know some of you are practicing Catholics or were at one time. Could you throw a few "Hail Mary"s or whatever is appropriate to Senator Lugar for later in the week?

And, Steve Turner, I always LOVE the hilarious way you present the COUNTDOWN stories, but I have to take slight (and I do mean VERY SLIGHT) issue with your #4 interpretation. Richard Lugar is an institution in Indianapolis and the state of Indiana, and the Democrats never seem to come up with anyone that anybody else has ever heard of to even come CLOSE to defeating him in an election. So, his seat is usually pretty safe. I think something along the lines of a dead body with his DNA on it in his office would be the only thing that would come close to defeating him. With all that said, I've had quite a bit of respect for him for a number of years about a variety of issues and the way he conducts himself. Keep those witty bits coming, Steve!

I was wondering what happened to CoulterGeist's eyepatch last night!!;)

I'm sure I'll have a few dozen thoughts about part 4 of the POST article about Cheney, so I'll be back later.

#4 Agree with your "gee thanks" to Lugar, Countdown.  The guy sees the handwriting on the wall and knows politically it is suicide to continue supporting Bush and this so-called surge. I give him no credit whatsoever for coming out now and saying gee-whiz, the surge may not be the way to go. What a jerk. So what about all the American troopers killed between the time he and the rest of the repuiblicans should have known the surge was a ludicrist idea and the present time. What does he have to say to the families of those soldiers. He needs to be tarred and feathered along with Bush and Cheney and rode out of Washington on a rail. And regarding this "surge" does one not have to have a goal or objective in mind to move towards before one starts a surge. Even the damn ocean with all it's erratic undercurrents has more direction than this administration. And Lugar, the guy pisses me off so much with his current BS I just can't continue or I will use words here that are inappropriate for all the decent bloggers in the room. But I sure would like to have a few minutes with Lugar by myself in a small locked windowless room. And when I'm done with him send Bush and Cheney in the room together. I'll be waiting. We'll conduct a little down-home a-- whoopin for all of them.
#3 Story: Did I hear right? The brain room? Or did you say bathroom? Either way, you nailed it - the guy is nuts. I bet he won't be having 16 year olds on again soon. Can't handle the truth.

FOX Propaganda is asking viewers to send in videos. I was contemplating sending over tapes of Countdown. But like I said, they can't handle the truth. I may do it anyway, just for fun.
I agree with True, the eyepatch was missing and would definitely add to her macabe mystic. MOrning Joe was talking to Geist about her in her black dress, all that was missing was her broomstick and jar of eyeballs. With Mrs. Edwards calling in, she has a right to voice her concern, however, it would have been more credible with Senator Edwards doing so. She and "dicky boy" need to have there own neverland and stay put. What two awful people they are and look at all the power they have. They have stage presence and command it well, we are just dumb enough to pay attention to them. On another blog site, crawfordlist.com one of the bloggers asked why I watched Hardball, I replied, I knew a bit about her and knew she was a witch, this just confirms it. Peace! Denise
will somebody go over and slap Chris Mathews? can you do that Keith?? i didnt watch coultergeist, but saw enuf clips about it..... she is just a vicious .....etc. why does chris even give her a platform? shame on you!
WOW! What an eye-opener Hardball was!  In the background, to Ann's right, was a small, gopher-faced girl, and to her left was.....A NIPPLE!  And it seemed to have it's own on-off switch, too!  Huh? What?  I was supposed to get more out of the broadcast than that?  Ooops, sorry.
Doesn't anyone see the double standard? I am no fan of Ann Coulter but Bill Maher insinuated the same things about a rocket attack on a FOB in Afghanistan that could have killed the VP. Shouldn't he be hated and scorned for wishing ill will on someone as well?
At some point yesterday, I remembered Ann Coulter was on 'Hardball' and I flipped it on, coming in at the spot where somebody pointed out she could still enlist.  She deferred and said something about her not being effective in Baghdad with her 'teeny-weeny little gun'.  Her 'sorry, no enlistment' banter struck me as being rather cowardly, something I hadn't noticed before. She didn't handle it very well, looking foolish and the hypocrite. Aside from that, the 'Terminator' sunglasses and the dumb schlub with the "Will You Marry Me?"-sign, rounded off a pretty pathetic scene.  Click.
Wow, CA Tuscaloosa, AL (9:01 am)...I usually agree with a good deal of your WONDERFUL PASSIONATE blogs, but I have to take a little bit of an issue with the venom in your post. Yes, I agree that he shouldn't have voted for the surge, and he shouldn't have voted for the Iraq spending, and I expressed my displeasure in this forum for the spending vote (I wasn't blogging here yet for the surge vote).

But, there is PLENTY of blame ON ALL sides for the state of affairs in Iraq and in other areas of our government and in foreign policy. In a perfect world, our politicians would put country before party and/or self-interest (which, as I said above, is never really an issue with Senator Lugar because his seat is usually pretty safe), but we are hell and gone from a perfect world.

Senator Lugar should and will (if he hasn't already) have to explain himself to the families of the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice or who have had their lives irrevocably changed because of this senseless war in Iraq. But, there are plenty of Republicans (and a few Democrats!!) who are still "towing the party line" when it comes to the Iraq war. In light of all this, I think it took a bit of courage for him to go on the Senate floor and say what he said.

So, CA, I understand and agree with your passion and your anger and your cynicism, and I respect you, but if there is to be a "beginning of the end", it needs to start somewhere. Maybe it will come with Senator Lugar's words the other night; maybe it won't. But, he tried.

Thanks to you, CA, and to everyone else for reading this. I (as ALWAYS!) look forward to reading the dialogue.
Hey...totally off topic, but "our boy" Jonathan Turley is on the DIANE REHM show on NPR this morning talking about the recent Supreme Court decisions!
Shouldn't CoulterGeist get investigated by some law enforcement agency for suggesting harm to a presidential candidate?  Imaging what would happen if anyone would encourage assasinating someone in the current regime.

Is everything she says OK?

Please refer to my previous, pre-appearance post on CoulterGeists modus operendi on ALL of her appearances.  Why does she even get AIR TIME????

I refuse to watch her appearances and Chris Matthews has lost me permanently as even a casual viewer.

Steve - thanks for the Lugar rant.  As I have said, lookie lookie at all the Repugnikants that are going to "come to their senses" as election day 2008 gets closer.  It's like those Repugnikants who ran away from Nixon at the last moment who were "praised" for their "courage".  It wasn't courage, it was the realization after so much information came out (and would continue to come out) that Nixon was finished.  They were trying to whitewash their own involvement in trying to stall and prevent the Watergate investigations.

Unfortunately, they suceeded - you don't hear tapes of their months and months of full throated Nixon support and trashing of those trying to investigate.  You don't hear about the roadblocks they put in the way of congressional investigation.  You only hear about what they did in those last couple of days before the other Tricky Dick resigned.

It's going to be deja vu all over again with this decaying bunch.
Yes, I heard that on NPR, and I'm a big fan of Turley.
And I'm a big fan defunding this rogue fourth branch of government.  If this happens, Cheney will probably just make everyone his staff part of Haliburton.
No Mann Coulter graphic? Good!  I'm in no mood for the macabre and the Crypt Keeper today.
I love Jonathan Turley but will miss the show. Steve, once again I agree with you. You would think with all the negative comments Coultergeist makes she is weither an illegal alien, or actually a terrorist herself, these comments about the "teeney weeney little gun" and the bomb droppings, someone arrest her  and lock her up before she does more harm. Peace, Denise
John Mandor - With all due respect sir, your statement is incorrect.  Bill Maher stated, and I will quote, "The world would be better off without Dick Cheney." I concur!! All the republican pundits and the like jumped on the "Bill Maher was advocating the assassination of Dick Cheney" rant!! No, he was not.

While the neo cons attempted once again this route, while looking very foolishly in doing so, to attempt once more to slander Bill Maher.  This time, it didn’t work, as most Americans now know the truth about this Administration, its manipulation via fear-mongering and the countless lies we have been told.

Bill Maher made that statement in response to a question asked of him, which also involved the attack in Afghanistan.  The question was indeed a slam at the Administration; as just as Iraq’s supposed almighty Green Zone, built by the criminals at Halliburton, Afghanistan’s bunker-proof compound has also proven to be not as safe as we have been told – what a shock!!

Quite frankly, his statement was right on target.  The world, indeed, would be better off without Dick Cheney; however, that in NO way means I want him assassinated.
You know it is quite telling what with all the Bush bashing, Iraq bashing and all there is no mention of the positive progress occurring on the North Korea front.   This is why I think liberal media does not paint a full and accurate picture of events, they censor out stuff that might show the current administration in a good light, and report all the bad stuff.  I think this is Billy O’s point, it reeks of propaganda.  It’s not that the liberal media lies, it’s their careful selection of what to report.  This is why you guys get caught up in this administration is evil nonsense, if you read nothing but negative you get a skewed picture of reality.  That is why I attempt to read through a spectrum of news sources in an attempt to get an accurate picture.  You guys disparage Fox news, and discount anything said there denying yourselves an alternate picture of reality that combined with your preferred sources might bring events more into focus.  But I guess the hatred the liberal media has induced in y’all drowns out any possibility of balance.
C A - I certainly agree with your sentiments about Senator Lugar, he is indeed a sleaze and has gone on too long with his support of George W. Bush no matter what the cost, personal included, as so many have lost their lives as a direct result of the policies of this Administration..  However, to be somewhat “fair”, the co-conspirator is not up for re-election until 2008; however, I won’t him a lot of credit on that either. He’s a selfish SOB and wants his Party back in power.  That’s what this degenerate is about!!

Having said that, and while I hope and pray his words will get more republicans’ heads out of their asses, he indeed has given George W. Bush all the power to continue this unjust occupation, in addition to the “surge”, which my dog most likely knew would not have worked.  KUDOS CA for that brilliant assessment and blistering attack regarding both Lugar and the surge.  How right on target you are!!

Lugar and the rest of those who have continued to betray our military, indeed, deserve justice handed to them.  I am in way a person who could get into a physical altercation, and never have; so I thank you for making the offer.  I’m sure you have a list, in chronological order, of those who indeed deserve your justice!!

Thank you!!

PEACE!!
Steve - Was the bitch wearing that same stupid black mini dress as I noted yesterday is apparently the only piece of clothing in her wardrobe?
Sorry Krista / Indianapolis: Lugar gets no pass. Nor does any other republican who has supported this administration (not just with the surge) but with the entire invasion in the first place. And that goes for Dems who voted to give Bush authority to invade Iraq as well. And the Dems get no pass for being whimps since the surge and not holding Bush's feet to the ground on the funding bill that included timetables that they evnetually caved in on instead of just sending back the bill. None. I repeat none have any excuses. Krista, my post is quite light compared to thevenom others in here feel for this administration and anyone who has supported them throughout this conflict and surge. I relaize I am normally a little more dilomatic but not regarding this so-called war in Iraq...been there done that another time another place, and I know exactly how many of these soldiers are going to feel when they get home. Tar and feathering these people and taking them to the woodshed is very light punishment compared to what they have done to many soldiers and their families.  Again, Lugar gets no pass. He is typical of politicians, republican and democrat, they do not have the people's will and best interests at heart. That is not cynicism, that is fact.
C A - Yeah, Lugar is acting solely out of a sense of self-preservation and anyone who thinks otherwise does not understand politicians.  On NPR this morning (I forget who was interviewing) he was asked, repeatedly, "What is one thing Congress could do to stop the President or make him change course" and he did some fine dancing to avoid using the word "Impeachment".  But he's the kind that could tilt the party to realize that if they don't sacrifice Bush and/or Cheney, either now or later, that the GOP will be destroyed.  One way or another.  Their polls already were in the dumper.  Cheney crapping on the Constitution behind closed doors is one thing to these enablers, but he did it in public last week and Dick is starting to poison their slop trough, er, chances to get re-elected or maintain local party control.  That is the only reason that the pasty faced weasel, or any Republican in the Senate, have or ever will speak up against Cheney and Bush - to save their own worthless hides.

Make no mistake.  The primary reason these criminals are still in office is the Senate.  I think the House would send Articles of Impeachment if they knew they would not be stopped by the Neocons in the Senate and that obstructionist hack Pelosi wasn't in the way.  But the Senate has a problem.  They are awakening to the fact that We The People know they are part of the problem and, unlike the revolt against Caesar, they can't stab Caesar without some of the others Senators taking the opening to off them for their previous support because quite simply, the Senate Republicans are not the equivalent of the Liberatores.  These are not men concerned with the deposing a dictator and restoring the Republic.  No one there has the guts to be Cicero and stand up for the people and the Republic against the Caesarieans purely on principle.  These men are playing CYA and if you got to be Senator through the current lobbying and campaign finance system, you pretty much don't have an ethical or selfless bone in your body.  Some of them have realized they need to slay the Beast as a matter of survival, but not how to do it without it being a Pyhrric victory.  I am willing to watch them try.
Steve you right last night she not only acted like a bully in a glass house but she didn't even make any sence. Somebody please tell here that even Bush and Chenney don't insist that iraq had anything to do with 9/11. And for god sake somebody explain to her that Hssain and Ban Ladden did not only not work together but they where bitter enemies.  What happen to hardcopy last night? I used to watch it sometimes but after last night they last me. By the way why is it ok for her to say all this hatefull things about Edwards and nobody does anything about it? I guess law agin does not getting applied the same for everybody. If somebody else said this things about GOP running for office she be out there screamming her dumm head of.
Krista.  OK.  Lugar's GOP will get skunked in '08.  That makes him a Canary in a Coal Mine.  Have you thought about purchasing the Soon-To-Be-Here "Chinese Chrysler"?  I've heard rumors that Cerebus Board Member Dan Quayle will have a Chinese Chrysler Dealership in Indianapolis, and each purchase comes with a side of Venison, the "Deer in the Headlights" special.
Scott NV - media selective and doesn't give the good news of the administration? Well, here's your chance to make up for that. I have repeatedly asked for people to post positive things about this administration and have gone so far to actually dig through all sources available to me (including white house press releases) and posted some myself. The pickin's were slim.

Why don't you give it a go? Go ahead, Scott. Tell me some of the good things this Administration has done for the country. I am very eager to hear it.
Sue - PLEASE help me, as not only is the circus in town, "he" is attempting to state Bill-O's assessment of the "liberal media" is correct in that, "It’s not that the liberal media lies, it’s their careful selection of what to report."

Yeah, that reporting Bill-O did the other night on "Lesbian Gangs" was sure relevent!! Bill-O has resorted to reporting on ANYTHING in order to not discuss this Adminstration!!

What a joke - indeed the circus is in town!!
Pam. Yup. But the dress looked wimpy with those 'Terminator' Sunglasses.  She would have looked more 'couture' with some Harley Davidson Leathers on, studded chaps and jacket, and maybe a 'Wild Ones' bomber cap.  In that get-up, she probably would've inspired the 'Chad' with the 'Marry Me Ann' sign, to kneel, beg, and serve.  As it was, I'm surprised Matthews didn't pull out a little cat'o'nine tails and ask her for a complimentary lash or two.  It all had about as much to do with politics as 'the Gong Show'.
To Steve Turner in Cedar Falls, IA, Todd in New Orleans, CA in Tuscaloosa, AL, Sue, in West Allis, WI, and Pam in San Pedro, CA, it is clear that we disagree about the impact, methods, whatever of Senator Lugar's comments in the Senate the other night, but I think we can all agree on the fact that there's plenty of blame to go around with everyone in Congress and the Executive Branch (whether Cheney is included or not) for what Iraq is today. Anyone who supported this war should be held accountable no matter what their political stripe is.

And, Steve Turner, my "joke meter" may be off, but I can't tell if you're serious or not. I consider Dan Quayle to be one of the biggest embarrassments to come out of the state of Indiana, and I'm ashamed to even be associated with him on that basis.
It is indeed uncomfortable for me to find myself on a different side of a position than some of our most revered bloggers, but here I go.

I do not condemn Sen. Lugar. There are a couple of reasons for my position.

1) From a pragmatic point of view, it does no good to beat a (supposed) enemy once he surrender. We do not wish to make other Rs who haven't yet made the jump even more defensive and reluctant to make said jump. Welcome them with open arms so that we can move forward more quickly.

2) I've followed Lugar for years and he has always been very even keeled. As a member of a political party in the Senate, it is even more critical than in the House that the party present a unified front. Is that a good thing? I have opinions about that but the point is - Things are what they are. Lugar worked within the system to the point where there is now a strong enough support for him to tackle the WH. I don't really care AT THIS POINT what his motivations are. I want the Iraq redeployment to begin as soon as possible.

When reelection time comes, his home state will evaluate his performance. At that time, this discussion may have more relevance.

At THIS time, let's keep our eye on the ball - IRAQ!

My opinion, such as it is.
Todd, New Orleans, LA (Sent Wednesday, June 27, 2007 12:10 PM)  No Todd the reason Impeachment has not been attempted is because there are no real objective grounds.  Most of Congress lives in the real world, not in some liberal, progressive, Disneyland where propaganda is deemed truth, and fact and logic are ignored.  If the Dems in Congress thought they had even a 1% chance of success they would proceed.
Independent, Texas (Sent Wednesday, June 27, 2007 2:09 PM)  Honestly Independent, I believe that is a question for history, it is exceedingly difficult to project how the actions of the Bush administration will affect the future.   I’ll give it a shot.   Things look pretty rough now in Iraq, and it appears it was a mistake to initiate that adventure, but no one knows how it all will play out and history may show it was a success.  On the home front things look good – the economy is chugging along pretty steady, tax cuts have resulted in higher revenues for the Govt., alternate energy technology is on a roll, and technology in general is improving lives and promises a bright future.  The Korea conflict is improving with Korea backing away from nukes, Libya gave up it’s nuclear ambitions.  The world is getting a little warmer which will probably help agriculture, and keep me warmer in the winter.  Don’t have enough time or space on one post to describe it all…
Steve - Thanks for the "glamorous" feedback on the witch!! I swear, not only is she a bigoted fascist, she's so cheap she wears the same dress - to EVERYTHING AND EVERYWHERE!!
Steve - Thanks for the "glamorous" feedback on the witch!! I swear, not only is she a bigoted fascist, she's so cheap she wears the same dress - to EVERYTHING AND EVERYWHERE!!
Sorry Independent: Lugar condemned himself when he voted along with so many others to give Bush the go-ahead to invade Iraq. He heard the American people and what they wanted in the 06 elections. He heard the generals come and go (including Patreaus) state this war cannot be won militarily. Yet he conntinued to support Bush and this surge. He sees just like you and I this unwinnable ludicrist policing action that Bush has gotten us into and 150,000 troops trying to bring secuirty and peace to a country of millions at civil war with one another. Hell, I would have more respect for someone who wanted to stay the course by calling for a million troops to take this damn place over for good then for someone who suported staying the course at the danger to 150,000 American soldiers caught in the middle of a dust storm. Nope, Lugar made his bed and now must lie in it. I won't put him there, well, someone better or I might. Like I said before, I tend to try and be more diplomatic, but not when it comes to wha tthese people have done to our US soliders over there. They got away with it in VN but not this time. No mercy.
Pam - I don't care what the clowns or fleas say.  It's just talking points anyway or some flagrant abuse of the truth.  Bypass that crap and move on to someone elses post.

I live in a Repugnikant area and can't take more of that garbage here.
If Keith doesn't call out Colter shill Chris Matthews as his Worst Person, he has no right to claim to be in the same business as Murrow.  Matthews is an utter shame to MSNBC, and Keith should be ashamed to be associated with either.
Sue - "garbage" is appropriate and thanks for the suggestion. Leap frog was always fun as a kid and yes, indeed they are talking points, or frogs from this point on!!
Scott - thanks so much for an answer that contains no inflammatory statements. I wish I could say that the statements included were valid. I really do wish I could say that.

However:

Point 1: "Honestly Independent, I believe that is a question for history, it is exceedingly difficult to project how the actions of the Bush administration will affect the future."   Dont understand the relevance of this statement but I will let it go. I have very strong opinions about how history will portray Mr. Bush but will leave that for the future to prove.

Point 2: "Things look pretty rough now in Iraq, and it appears it was a mistake to initiate that adventure, but no one knows how it all will play out and history may show it was a success."   Again, you are make assertions without substantiation but I will let that ride. At least you didn't defend the action. Thank you for that.

Point 3 - "On the home front things look good – the economy is chugging along pretty steady, tax cuts have resulted in higher revenues for the Govt., alternate energy technology is on a roll, and technology in general is improving lives and promises a bright future."  Nice sounding words. Where's your source material? For instance, I can point to 3 Federal Reserve projections about inflation with grave fears based on the deficit. I can also point to articles where Alan Greenspan (still the most respected economist in the entire world even though he no longer chairs the FRB) that say he tried to talk to Mr. Bush about the implications of his policies being detrimental to our fiscal health and the Mr. Bush was indifferent to these points. I can also point to record breaking gasoline prices, a failing housing market, and employment metrics that show falling middle class incomes. You cite that more tax revenue is being received by the feds? Better check that out. What you see is higher gross and lower per capita because per capita our income paying base is dropping into non-reporting poverty levels. (IRS 2007 projections). Since those tax cuts were for the high earners and there are more non-earners than ever, guess who is coughing up the difference? Also, revenue is one side of the stream. This government has very very very very large defecits. That will get us very very very very soon. Re tech advances? Let's go talk to Arnold Swarzenegger (or however the hell you spell his name). Most technological advances are coming from his state. CA has been trying for years to get the feds to back this up and MR. BUSH SAID NO!!
High school performance is down; illiteracy is up; college costs are exploding. (Wall Stree Journal qtr 1 market and economic reports) Where is this bright future?

Point 4a: The Korea conflict is improving with Korea backing away from nukes." This is true. Do you know why? The economic sanctions that have been in place pre-Bush have pushed this starving country to be extreme in getting attention via the nuclear discussion. This was a good thing. This technique was predicted and planned for. This was the way for that extremely xenophobic society to handle allowing western aid into the country (we freed up those funds) without losing face. Read this situation as described almost to the date in, oh shoot, I can't remember the name of the journal. Written during the last year or so of Clinton's last term and was, frankly, critical of Clinton. I'll have to go find it. This is as far as I know the only time the Bush has worked to an existing foreign policy plan.

Point 4b: "Libya gave up it’s nuclear ambitions." You're kidding right? Libya? Khaddafi has been so stoned for the last 20 years that this nation has been very idle (thank god). I'm willing to be surprised. Point me toward something I can read about this. This one, I admit, I've not researched.

Point 5 - "The world is getting a little warmer which will probably help agriculture, and keep me warmer in the winter." Oh please. Let's go talk to some of those farmers and ranchers who are having to deal with this "little warmer" weather we are having. This was just one of your silly statements to try to get me going. Nice try.

Item 6 - Don’t have enough time or space on one post to describe it all… "  Well, see, you didn't describe anything. You threw out some words about what you think you see but you haven't pointed to anything that can say that this is more than your opinion. No where in this piece did you say the words or any variant of "This (thing whatever) happened because the Bush administration did (whatever.)"

I do really appreciate that you were polite in your response. I just see no factual support. When I have no factual support I am always careful to say so and to clarify that I am expressing an opinion.

I'm still willing to listen and learn. Thanks
Ah, Scott Henderson...still living in his dream world, I see...

For the record, this is my notice to MSNBC: I am no longer even turning on Hardball just to wait for Keith to come on. I will turn on MSNBC when Keith comes on and ONLY when Keith comes on. Chris Matthews will no longer be tolerated by me; just from what I heard about it (I was determined not to watch), yesterday's Coultergeist Circus went beyond the pale. When we are telling women with cancer that we wish their husband would be killed by a terrorist and that he is exploiting his dead son for sympathy; when we imply it's great for us to insult him because it helps him raise campaign money and therefore he should thank us; when we disavow all responsibility for terrible things we said simply because we said them "months ago" or "years ago"; and when we equate a polite request to stop personal attacks with a call for censorship of ourselves...then we have gone too far. Keith, I know you'll never speak out against him because you have to work with him, but in all honesty, if there was a way I could watch you cover things like political debates without having to see him, I would. I'm sorely tempted to cover his half of the screen with black construction paper the next time such an occasion arises. At least then I don't have to see him in the wide shots.

MSNBC as a network needs to stop going for "ratings and controversy uber alles" and STOP GIVING ANN COULTER A FORUM. Trust me, she'll get over it, she'll find plenty of other places more than happy to spew her venom, and nobody who watches your network will miss her a bit.
When it costs MSNBC sponsors and Nielsen ratings Coulter will be HISTORY, until then media wh*res like Matthews and Scarborrough will book that Homobigoted HAG! Matthews added insult to injury by having a proven PAID PROPOGANDIST Armstrong Williams as a commentator.
More for Williams than Coulter I'd nominate Matthews as WORST Person.
Ah, Scott. Living in a dream world, monkey boy who beats the drum, just to see his pathetic little so called life, living in the desert getting heat stroke, beating the go christain radical drum, and homofobic freak. You sir are indeed a dumb ass. You should do yourself, this blog, and your ate up political party a favor and just go away. Lock yourself in that little secret room you have hidden in the basement, strip down and beat your little drum to FOX, and O'reilly.

You do absoloutely nothing hear but further prove that you sir, are a moron.
Sorry you feel that way Independent and appreciate your concern that we not become that which we oppose, however, sometimes you fight fire with fire.  The art is not getting burned yourself.  Personally, I prefer a screwdriver approach vs. a nuclear option in dialectics.  One does not always get what one prefers and changing tool sets is sometimes the best way to victory.  Consider staying.  You have value.  If not, then best of luck to you.
Everyone, to deny anyone the right to free speech is against one of the things left in our constitution. Seems they are working on removing that soon too. They already arrest peaceful people who protest. Even if we don't agree with their comments, they have a right to say what they want and we have the right to change the channel on our TV sets or ignore it. I don't like the sleeze Ann Coulter either but....
Krista.  I'll take that as a 'No' about buying a Chinese Chrysler from "Dan Quayle Cerebrus Chinese Chrysler of Indianapolis".  (I might though. Do you know what a side of Venison is worth?  Probably more than the car.) Rumor has it, Dan is also opening up a dealership in Idaho.  It will be known as "Famous Potatoe's Cerebrus Chinese Chrysler of Boise".
