White House Subpoenas

Posted: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 1:48 PM by Countdown

Here's the report filed by the associated press...rest assured we'll be all over this on tonight's show.

CAPITOL HILL (AP) - A Senate panel is demanding some documents from the White House and from Vice President Cheney's office.

The Judiciary Committee today issued a subpoena for documents related to President Bush's program involving eavesdropping without warrants.

The subpoenas also name the Justice Department and the National Security Council.

A congressional official says the panel is looking for documents that might shed some light on internal squabbles within the administration over whether the program is legal.

Scott - I see C A's words of advice to you, which you attempted in your way to "take" has lasted all of 24 hours!!

Nice going Scott; I sure hope your comments leave you "rolling on floor laughing 'my' ass off".

You will never learn Scott, as you are unteachable, a xenophobic and completely hopeless.  It's too bad, as C A took a lot of time in trying to help you out. I was hoping the “kinder and gentler Scott might just last”.  You blew it again pal!!

It's a real shame...........
Pam / Todd what a scholar ya that says it all, funny
so if anybody ask you a question they are morons? does that sound like something bush or chenney would say? or is it ok for you do say what ever you whant but everybody else is should shut up or you call them a moron? I actually like you both before but you two just lost me.
Ya the only thing I tried to say is if Todd didn't like what I said he could have told me instead of Pam.
Scott you right what she said made sence> Iwan't sure if she tried to tell me that she isn't as smart as Todd?
ya right...disacreace, intetions, sence> Iwan't...the spelling police have no idea what you are trying to say...what is disacreace? please try to share the English language or run spell check...
Hey Spelling Police:  You've got no authority here.  Anyone who has been on the internet, in chat rooms, on instant messenger, etc. reads past any typos.  You'll catch on in time - trust me.

Ideas sometimes run faster than the fingers.  It's the ideas I care about.

PS - I don't care about grammer either.

PPS - I use a lot of run-on sentences myself.
Thanks, Tru M, Cleveland, for explaining to Anthony that Countdown's format is ideal for people who aren't simple-minded authoritarian followers.  We prefer the "intelligent guest inteviewed by intelligent host" format.  Let me add, however, for Anthony, that there are many cable news shows that follow the "shouting match/food fight format" and which feature "viewpoints" that are just endless itertions of talking points handed down to PR people masquerading as experts.  What's sad is that these shows have come to seem the norm, rather than a political version of the Jerry Springer show.

You guys were all on a role today.  (Yes, BA, I mean you.) I agree--let the subpeonas roll.  Idon't know if any of these criminals will end up in jail, but we are at least seeing some feet getting singed in the fire.  The road to impeachment or criminal trials begins with investigation, and there are a whole bunch of those going on.  And in the worst case scenario, they are finding it a lot harder to do business as usual with the spectre of testifying before Congress looming over them.

What I want is a shot at seeing those Rove emails...

non-spelling/speaking conservative lackies
Thanks Sue
Well Pam or Todd I will try to spell better or not but that doesn't change anything what I said about both of you period. And Todd you sacring me ( not)
By calling me a moron. Just let's me know who or what you are.
Ya Right - I may not look at spelling or grammer but ideas and behavior are another thing.  Stop being naughty and play nice with others.
ya right Denver - What I am is civil until given a reason to be otherwise; a reason which you gave me coming out of the gate.  So I guess it comes back to you still being both rude and a moron - a combination that renders your opinions moot.  Now unless you have something relevant to add, how about posting elsewhere where they appreciate your level of skill and lack of manners.  Like FAUXNews.
ya right: Your spelling is ok, dont woryy about it. Sometimes folks may not understand that a person wishes to express their opinions but due any number of reasons may not have the best spelling or grammar, or perhaps poor fine-motor skills required to use a keyboard with perfection. It could be due to a legitimate learning disability, who knows. Whether the case with you or not ya right, shame on those who criticize without knowing if that is indeed the case or not. If one looks at your sentences and spelling carefully it appears that just may be the case, and if so, I hope those criticzing you feel really good about themselves. And if not, how do they know. Anyway ya right, I don't necessarily agree with what you are saying but how you use the english language to state your opinioins is fine by me.
C A don't worry about it it doesn't bother me, exually it tells more about people than like too. English is not my First, second or third fourth language so I don't care what people say too much about my spelling after all. But before anybody get's any idear here I am an LEAGAL AMERICAN who's son served in Kuwait, Afganistan and Iraq.
ya right: Understand. I saw it the first time you posted. I knew there was a very legitimate explanation for your use of the english language. I incorrectly guessed a learning disability and I suppose if a language is your fifth or sixth language that could certainly count as a disability if you reside in the country where that fifth or sixth language is the spoken language. Especially in terms of writing the language, the spelling and grammar. I don't mind people disagreeing with or even fairly attacking others opinions or statements in here, but personal attacks show intolerance no matter what side they come from. And those against a person's ability to spell, write and express themselves that may be a result of a situtation similar to yours, or due to a disability or a lack of education is uncalled for. Although I tend to agree with the positions of most of the folks here politically and regarding this administration ya right, there is intolerance in here just as there would be in a blog that leans to the right. Tell your son thank you for his service to this country. It is appreciated believe me.
Dear ya right, Denver - This is my second posting of this, as perhaps you did not see it on another thread.

My apology this morning was very sincere, as after reading your post to me, I re-read what I wrote and it most certainly could have been inferred as sarcastic; therefore, I apologized to you.

I learned nearly 12 years ago; when I am wrong, I must promptly admit it, which is what I did.  I also learned nearly 12 years ago, “I am powerless over people.

Therefore, I can only clean up my side of the street.
I try my best to follow this rule every day of my life, while failing at times. Again, I am sorry you took offense to what I wrote, as I was attempting to explain what Todd meant; however, it was not my place to do so.  Therefore, I apologize for that also.

There is nothing else I can say, nor will I.  If you choose to accept my apology, that is certainly up to you and well within your right.  Should you choose not to, again, I am powerless over people thinking, or ability to forgive, as I have no control this.  I have done my part in cleaning up my side of the street and will move on.

Thank you.
Ya Right...I only recommended spell because it would help get your ideas across and the time to copy your posts into a word file and run spell is a minute or two at most...I would never censor you or be little your ideas...but since English is not your first language, spell check will do three things...add depth to your posts, help get your ideas across, and most importantly, help you learn the language...

you ideas are welcome...always...my comments were not meant as criticism...I can understand how they might be understood that way...I should have explained my ideas better...

lastly, posts don't have to be grammatically perfect...being a linguist, I do take language serious and one of my buttons is the lack of time people spend using spell check...it is my problem more than other people's problem...but to really express oneself, spelling is a key element...I never complain about comma splices, run on sentences, etc on blogs...my writing has them...but spelling error are easy to avoid...yet, spell check only means all the words are spelled right but they my not be the right words...but the form of writing is as important as the content...I just hate to see the lack of "effort" people taking in spelling when using spell check is so simple....keep writing and blogging...writing will make English more natural for you...and I hope your son is fine...

I just hate to see the lack of "effort" people taking in spelling - the spelling police (Sent Friday, June 29, 2007 10:47 PM)

That would be the lack of effort people TAKE!!
