Countdown Wednesday: Subpoenas A-go-go

Posted: Wednesday, June 27, 2007 9:08 PM by Countdown
Filed Under:

The Paper ChaseIf you're scoring at home -- or even if you're alone -- sharpen your pencil. The White House, now claiming it will not release documents related to the warrantless eavesdropping program... on the grounds that the executive branch has a right to receive confidential advice... While, at the same time, still refusing to comply with its own executive order regarding the safeguarding of classified documents... meant to apply to all entities within the executive branch.  In our fifth story on the Countdown... Something the White House might find more difficult to argue against: Congressional subpoenas.

Rudy Blames Bill:  Rudy Giuliani claims he knew that the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center was part of Osama Bin Laden's declaration of war on us...But then President Bill Clinton didn't see it.  Sheez, Rudy, maybe you couldn't mentioned it during those eight years between the attacks.

ODDBALL:  A Virgin Mary watermelon, a splodin' watermelon and some hanky panky on the links headline tonight's all star wacky video cavalcade.

The GOP HorseraceIt was one of the funniest videos on the internets this year. Will Ferrell, getting hassled for rent money by his foul-mouthed boozing landlady - Pearl.  The two year old daughter of Ferrell's comedy website collaborator Adam McKay.  Now in our third story on the Countdown - two months after Pearl debuted to the paranoid -- almost hallucinogenic -- cries of child exploitation by the likes of Bill Orally, she is back. And back for what is described as... her farewell performance. And back as... the ultimate bad cop.  The ultimate two-year old... bad cop.

TiVo Alert!  Much like Tony Blair hinting at retirement in 2005, making an official announcement in 2006, then finally actually stepping down today -- the release of the I-phone has been impending so long that it feels like it's already last year's technology.  But in our number two story on the Countdown -- the wait is finally... well nearly... over.  Apple's first cell-phone goes on sale this Friday.  And as our correspondent Jane Wells reports, people are already lining up for it.  Or at least, paying others to line up for them.  One caveat: I am not convinced that none of these people in line, are not shills of some sort.

WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD:  A FOX News trifecta vying for top honors tonight...you have to see this one to believe it.

Paris and the Sheriff:   The wheels of government turn slowly, particularly when the wrench thrown in them, is shaped like Paris Hilton.  In our number one story on the Countdown, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors was trying, yesterday, to address an inner city hospital so beleaguered, a patient died in it's Emergency Room lobby last month.  The Board eventually got around to its health care crisis, but not before facing Sheriff Lee Bocka... to find out why he initially released Ms. Hilton after just a few days in jail.  Meantime, Ms. Hilton has now described that jail-cell meltdown...

Hmm, let's see. It's 9:34 ET...is the Office of the Vice President part of the Executive Branch now or not? Or, is it only when it needs to claim it has a right to receive confidential advice, but not when it's a matter of checks and balances? I'm so confused...

Oh, and Keith, I'm really glad I wasn't eating when you said that the only "traditional stance" Billo has ever taken was when he was on the phone to his producer. Ohhhhh...MY...

Did you hear Billo's latest? Mr. Sensitive, noted authority on male-female relationships that he is, has figured out that the women whose names have made headlines recently as murder victims should have expected to meet the kind of fates they did. After all, they should have KNOWN they were dealing with violent men, and they should have looked out for the safety of their children and placed that first above all. And because they didn't--because they were neglectful, bad moms--it's only to be expected that they'd end up murdered. Too bad!

Don't you just love Billo-Land, where everything has an explanation, everything is everyone else's fault, and they all get what's coming to them?...Nope, me either. Just slot him next to Ann Coulter as one who simply can't avoid the compulsion to spew out of his mouth whatever diarrhea emerges from his brain...and believes it a virtue.
Good evening, everyone. "Our guy" Mr. Turley was a busy guy today - DIANE REHM this morning and COUNTDOWN tonight! But...

JONATHAN TURLEY SAID THE "I" WORD! JONATHAN TURLEY SAID THE "I" WORD! JONATHAN TURLEY SAID THE "I" WORD!
My hero, my hero, my HERO!! Now, Democrats, Congress, anyone who gives a rat's ass about our country's future, WERE YOU LISTENING?! COUNTDOWN's faithful saw it, and we're not going to let you forget it!

I also enjoyed hearing from the reporter from the VILLAGE VOICE. My, my, my...the more I hear and learn about Mayor Rudy, the more my stomach turns. Maybe that can be a new soap opera - "As the Stomach Turns". I couldn't help but notice the big Regents University sign behind Mayor Rudy. Y'all remember Regents, right? The lower-tier university that gave us Monica Goodling? Any other person's tongue would have leaped screaming out of the mouth with all the B.S. spewing out.

I think Pearl is cute! According to my mom, some of the first words out of my mouth when I was around that age were "Oh, Hell!"

Tonight's SOUTH PARK on Comedy Central is their rag on Paris Hilton. When she loses her dog, she tries to buy one of the neighborhood kids, and she's plugging her perfume called "Stupid Little Whore." The LA County Board of Supervisors couldn't revise their agenda to address the critical issues at the hospital BEFORE delving into the Paris mess?! Glad to know they had their priorities straight.

In addition to the POST series about "dictator-wanna-be" Cheney wrapping up, I finally finished CONSERVATIVES WITHOUT CONSCIENCE this evening. I highly recommend it! I want to wrap up tonight's thoughts with a quote from John Dean about democracy:

"Democracy is not a spectator sport that can be simply observed. To the contrary, it is difficult and demanding, and its very survival depends on active participation. Take it for granted, and the authoritarians, who have already taken control, will take American democracy where no freedom-loving person would want it to go" (184).

Thank you all for a spirited day full of great dialogue. Be back tomorrow!
Paris Hilton trumps a poor dead woman,  now that's a news story.  A sad, sad, sad state of affairs.  That poor woman died,  in a hospital ER while being arrested on an outstanding warrent, and she and her family STILL can't get any justice because the real news is that Paris Hilton cried in jail and had to be let out to go cry in her mansion.  Maybe the family of the dead lady can understand that Paris and the needy games she plays would always come before them, after all Paris is more important then they could ever be....she's weathy. Maybe they can understand that Paris was not used to being told "no" and therefore didn't understand that she had to stay in jail.  The family of the dead lady can certainly understand the word "no",  they hear it all the time.
I think I'll fly the flag upside down this 4th. no I will fly it upside down,as a form of protest. So if anyone asks I'll blame the Republican Senate for my actions. Spread the word. care to join me.
#1. The Sheriff told them, Paris was so wigged out, it was send her home, or send her to a beleaguered inner city hospital. #2. The new phones are actually injected into the butt.  Looks like those folks who paid for someone to stand in line for them, will have to bend over to use it. #3.  Something tells me O'Reilly hasn't progressed much since the age of nine, so he's been exploiting himself since then. #4. Rudy has been saving it until now.  Call it his "June Surprise!" #5. Congressional Subpeonas? Just more toilet paper for Cheney's privvy.
Saw the interview with Eugene Robinson, and he mentioned he'd really like to learn more about Cheney's very special relationship with the Saudis.  I'd sure like to hear more about that too, and to provide a little context, you might want to check out a few of the links here:

<a href="http://www.asecondlookatthesaudis.com">www.asecondlookatthesaudis.com</a>

Also, one more question - does Keith have the cajones to name Chris Matthews the Worst Person in the World for that ridiculous Ann Coulter interview?  I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants to know.
Ezequiel:  If this were another time or another place, I might join you with in flying the flag upside down, but not now.

I currently have one brother, a sister in law and a nephew deployed to Iraq.  The American flag that I fly, I fly for them as much I as I fly it for myself as an American.  I also hang a Two Star Service Flag in my front room window.

While I despise everything that Bush, Cheney and all of their evil henchmen stand for, the American Flag is the ONE thing that I can hold onto to know that I am still an American living in the country that I know and love.  It is the one thing that separates my loved ones in harms way, from everyone else-just from the mere fact that it is on their uniform.

I understand you anger and frustration, but I won't let the powers that be take away my symbol of what this country really stands for.

PEACE!
"The Paper Chase"!! Apparently this arrogant group of wild boar cross bred “Iron Age Pigs” has yet come up with another excuse for defying its own orders by refusing to release documents relating to their illegal actions of executing warrentless wire tapping. Oh what a shock!!

The latest absurd reasoning, in keeping true to form, is not only illogical, it’s illegal.  Indeed the safeguarding of classified documents does apply to the Executive Branch; and yes Dick Cheney, while appalling and dysfunctional as this current Executive Branch is, you are indeed squarely at the core of this “Dysfunctional Branch”.

So as I can digest this lump of Charlie Brown coal, the White House now claims it is within their right to receive confidential advice and therefore this feckless Executive Branch is exempt from following its own orders.

If indeed, Mr. Bush, your collective group of lawbreakers wishes to continue on this criminal path, please do not simultaneously insult Americans by giving us an explanation a toddler would laugh at.

Mr. Bush, you are guilty of committing not a petty crime, but a federal crime, amongst executing many other criminal offenses.  Indeed Congress will win this battle, albeit the Supreme Court route. As your criminally inept and dense Administration will indeed string this along, wasting tax payer dollars and most likely well into the next Administration, to cover up your crime.

Should you take this obscene route to cover up this crime, indeed many will remain ruthlessly patient in our demands that you and the remainder of your co-conspirators are placed in orange jumpsuits with your snap shot perp walk moment.  While your arrogance may bring you to the conclusion that on January 21, 2009 “all will be forgotten”, think again!!

Congress, who will without doubt gain more Senate seats in 2008, in addition to a Democrat moving in to your current residence (after multiple fumigations) will deliver you to your next destination, a prison cell.  “We the People” will demand such, and we, too, can be ruthless.

I did enjoy watching Countdown...but I don't know if it is just me...but I was really getting tired of hearing how much of an idiot "Billo" is. Yes, I agree whole heartedly...FOX and Billo are in my opinion for boneheads.

However, K.O.'s constant ragging about him...just about every show... started sounding to me more like a sick obsession. Alright already! We get it! He's a jerk! Move ON for God's sake.
#1:  Can I say that this is the first time in my whole entire life that I'm glad that I don't have Los Angeles news?  Thank goodness that the news a couple of hours south doesn't give a rats ass about the bbbh and its' release from County!

PEACE!
Jon M, the reason Keith comes back to Billo again and again is because he's "the gift that keeps on giving." And no matter how outrageous his remarks, he never, ever seems to have to pay for them. I imagine Keith will keep repeating them until he does have to pay...however long it takes. And I, for one, will be happy to see him do just that. So get used to it.

As for Keith: You and Dan looked great on Letterman tonight. It was lots of fun. Ha, you even switched chairs halfway through. I bet when you're each 80 years old you'll still be telling those "Blow Doll" and "Bulging Disk" stories. They never do get old, do they? Add Roger Clemens' "fatigued groin" and you have a wonderful trifecta of tales.
Krista:  Pat Robertson's Regeant University not only gave us Monica Goodling, but his "heck of a job" administration has hired 150 of this lowest rated college's graduates.

Kudos to Michael Moore - he was on Jon Stewart's Daily Show tonight talking about how he was bumped from Larry King Live tonight so Paris Hilton could have the entire hour of the show.  Mike and Jon had a big laugh about the news priority.

Sometimes if I didn't laugh, I'd cry.

I see the media whore has a new name, Rudy “Nine Eleven-It’s all Bill Clinton’s Fault” Giuliani – his name is sure getting long!! “Mentally defective” would be a better fit!! – JERK!!
Did you guys know about this? I came across it by accident. Haven't seen any lead up advertisement.

Democratic Debate - PBS - 8:00pCDT Thursday
Moderator: Tavis Smiley.

This may be one debate that doesn't have the "theatre" angle. I've only seen Mr. Smiley in one-on-one interviews but he seems to be a pragmatic and non-BS kind of guy.
Ezequiel, I would join you in your protest by flying my flag upside down, but I took my flag down on Sep. 11th, 2001.  I will not fly it again until I am convinced that this country is free of American terrorists, in the pay of our government.  In other words--probably not in my lifetime.
Lay off the republicans. We're the only party that matters. These wining liberals have never had it so good. Our country's safer, our leaders strong and our freedoms are diminishing. The only thing left to do is to rid this country of all the immegrants, homosexuals and the poor and we will have a strong, conservative country.
Pam San Pedro (12:30), thank you for your powerful words. I was literally cheering last night when the words "impeachable offense" came out of Jonathan Turley's mouth. I'm getting ready to send out my first round of letters to the Senators today. Even if the House does suddenly grow a spine and impeaches (a la Howard Beale "I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore!" - have you seen NETWORK?), the Senate must have the courage to vote to convict. I'm even putting little personal notes on my letters basically imploring for bravery and putting country and Constitution first instead of party and political ambitions. Naive, yes, but I gotta feel like I at least tried.
I thought Jonathan Turley was amazing last night!!! He came right out and said Bush has indeed "committed a crime". Since they don't seem to have a clue and continue to show out and out arrogance, I guess if the Bush Admin. want to know where they stand legally, all they have to do is watch Countdown and they can find out. Keith Olbermann provides the news and stories no one anywhere else I guess feels is necessary to report.
Bill in Chicago - I also sat up and took notice when  Eugene Robinson mentioned Cheney's visit(s) with the Saudis.  With all of the coniving and backroom policy-making he has done here, God only knows what he has been plotting over there.  I'm sure it has to do with how he and Bush's oil company buddies are going to divvy up the oil revenue in Iraq with the Saudis once they "win" the war.  That, I believe, is one of the big reasons they refuse to leave, no matter how many American and Iraqi lives are lost in the process; blood money.

I too am disgusted that Hardball gives Coultergeist a platform so often.  I can understand Faux News doing it but I thought MSNBC had more integrity.  They canned Imus for his words but continue to allow Coulter to spew her disgusting comments.  Yes - Chris Matthews and Hardball deserve a Worst Person award.

I LOVE the Pearl videos!  Will Ferrell and his buddy who made them are comic geniuses.  Anyone who is up in arms about it needs to get a life.  Happy retirement, Pearl.

Regarding Paris; and I hope this is the last time I have to hear about her or comment.  How the hell can these news organizations listen to her spout her jail time as "so scary" and whine about her whole 3 weeks in prison (remember - she had frequent visitors) and give her any sympathy at all?  Does the media realize there is a war going on and what these guys are going through day in and day out over there?  And this is not for 3 weeks; this is for many, 15 months at a time and then they have to RETURN after only a year or less at home.  Where are all the cameras when our guys come home from deployment(s)?  Where is all of the media attention?
Ok we get it, Bill O is a jerk and Ann Colture is a schmuck or visa versa. We know they slander people in any way, shape or form possibly. We know Chris Matthews needed a rating booster, but come on, calling the spifer woman agood writer two times is beyond ridiculous. She is the poster child for disaster and hate mongering. We let people like her and Bill 'O get away with the pot calling the kettle black. He thinks women like Jessie Davis invite bad men into their lives and deserve what comes there way do to "poor choices", b****. If BIll left his door open at his home by accident and an intruder broke in and harmed him or his family, would we blame him just becasuse he left his door open. Judge, not be judged and I sick of these people in the media who act so inhumane, that we allow it.The friggin media alloes it and it needs to be stopped. For Elizabeth Edwards to feel like she has to call in to defend her deceased son and her spouse and ask for a retreat of being ridiculed by this Cruella Da Ville, is sad. Ann wont stop nor will Bill, inless people start to ignore them. Keith, you go first! Peace, Denise!
Bill in Chicago, I have been thinking the same thing.  My guess is that Keith will wimp out and not criticize Chris Mathews because he is at MSNBC
And now for some much-needed moments of levity - check out the latest JIB JAB video titled "What We Call the News." Very VERY funny and full of images of our non-favorites and our favorites, including one Keith Olbermann! You gotta look quickly, though, because he's not there for long. Once again, JIB JAB "What We Call the News." Watch and laugh!
It is now in the news that the administration is refusing to turn over the documents requested in yesterday's subpoenas and is citing "executive privilege." What a shock. I passed out from the shock of that revelation and had to pick myself off the floor before I could type this.

Like I said yesterday, to the courts, to the courts, to the court court courts [to be sung to the Lone Ranger theme].
Independent: Referring to a post made yesterday on the White House Subpoena thread (June 27, 4:48 PM) I  noted that either the White House would not turn over any documents except perhaps some from the funny papers, and/or if the VP or any of his staff were to agree to testify regarding the eaves dropping program we would hear " I can't recall". Well, the first part of that prediction was obviously true. Now Countdown states this administration will have a more difficult time arguing against Congressional subpoenas. My question is what has ever stopped this administration putting forth twisted or ludicrist arguements against any form of investigation or subpoenas no matter who they come from. Countdown - don't bet on this administration having a diffuclt time arguing against Congressional subpoenas. It comes easy for them whether making sense or not, legal or not. Remember, they have already informed the entire country, the entire world, they are above the law. Screw the subpoenas for documents related to the eaves dropping program - begin impeachment proceedings. Even if impeachment cannot be achieved for both Bush and Cheney at least keep this bunch busy and on the defensive fighting such proceedings all the way until they leave office so they can't screww anything else up.
Jon M- I hate Bill-O as much as the next sane person, but have been wondering, too, if there aren't plenty more targets for KO to go after.  It also occured to me we never see Bush or Dickhead placed in any of those worst-worser categories.  I may mot be too bright, so can anyone tell me- would it be illegal in some way to put thoese two on the segment on occasion, or is it that MSNBC does not own a man-sized pair?  (which, after the Imus firing, I tend to believe....)
Actually, making Bill O'Liar WPITW or at least a contender is a good thing.  New folks tuning in for a laugh will get an education on the Bill Baloney too.  As things stand now, many people may not realize that every word out of BillOs foul mouth is not the gospel truth.

Additionally it gives regular viewers of Countdown with Repugnikant friends (or enemies) some truth to counter O'Liars talking points at the water cooler the next day.  Not all of us go to Media Matters or other sites that monitor content.

On another matter, can't Keith ask Jonathan Turley about the Dictator Directive when he's on?  I'd feel better with his expert opinion on that.

And finally - we picked up a new circus clown this thread.  Please everyone ignore the new flea.  He needs to find a new dog to annoy.  We've got real discussions to get to and can't be bothered to get distracted by garbage.
Good article here:

http://www.americanprogress.org/issues/2007/06/supreme_court.html

Remember all those promises made during Senate Confirmation hearings on Alito and Roberts that they were going to be "umpires" who believed in the legal concept of "stare decisus"?  That they didn't have a political agenda?  The demands that the pair of these boobs deserved "bipartisan support".

All lies and BS.  Read the articles - their ideology is showing - they even joined together with their NeoConJob buddies on the Supreme Court to come to a "you have free speech" in a Right to Life election ad campaign, but "don't have free speech" in another case.

The Supreme Court is now in the hands of these nut jobs.  God help us all.

Apparantly FEMA had great plans for mitigating a major hurricaine in the Gulf Coast.  Too bad they didn't bother to implement it.

Records that a watchdog group had to go to court to get finds that FEMA officials couldn't even find a copy of it.

Your tax dollars at work.

Since I agree with all you say, I'm a little confused about why this post was addressed to me. The only thing I can think of is that I had the temerity to suggest that I would not condemn Lugar for being late to the game and that I would like a little time to celebrate without negative thought a brief shining moment when we start seeing some actual movement in highlighting the criminal acts of the WH.

Did I miss something?
Sue, regarding your 11;42 am post about the Alito and Roberts.  You are so correct.  God help us all.  And God protect the four in the minority until we have a president who doesn't want to wrick the Constitution.

Lay off the republicans. We're the only party that matters. These wining liberals have never had it so good. Our country's safer, our leaders strong and our freedoms are diminishing. The only thing left to do is to rid this country of all the immegrants, homosexuals and the poor and we will have a strong, conservative country.

Oh.  My.  God.

First: Learn to spell.  It's "whining," and later, "immigrants."

Second: How the hell is it GOOD that our freedoms are diminishing?  In a country that calls itself the land of the free, surely that's a bad thing?

Third: Gee, xenophobic, homophobic, and poor-ophobic all at once?  You ever stop to think that having immigrants, homosexuals, and poor people is part of what makes America America?

Fourth: Soviet Russia was a strong, conservative country.  Look at what happened THERE!  That country fell apart!  And you want the U.S. to follow THAT model?  Are you insane or just really, really stupid?
Sue, West Allis, Wisconsin (Sent Thursday, June 28, 2007 11:42 AM)

Yep - been my concern about electing Bush from his first campaign that he would be stuffing the bench.

That being said, however, if you read The Brethren by Bob Woodward and Scott Armstrong (1979) they make a convincing case that after the first flush of power, justices settle down when they come to realize that they are going to be on that bench through many administrations and generations of political shapeshifting. Although an old book, I believe that this idea is still valid. If Roberts, et al, do mishandle claims of executive privilege for the purpose of political partisanship rather than ideology, they know that possibly as soon as 2008 they'll have to live with the impact of that decision. This is the reality check for the justices. I do believe that some of the ideology positions will be our cross to bear for many years. However, I think and hope that political partisanship is already starting to fade.

We'll have to just wait and see. If you think it is hard to impeach a president (and actually remove him from office), it is just, in reality, impossible to impeach a SCJ. They are there to stay.

BTW - in case you think that last statement was a complaint, it isn't. I think lifetime appointments are the only way to ensure a true independent Supreme Court - warts and all.

thanks
Brandon, Schleswig, IA (Sent Thursday, June 28, 2007 12:21 PM)

Brandon - you may be right in responding to Mark's post as you did. I, however, read it to be supreme sarcasm on Mark's part.

Either way, I certainly think you are right if anyone actually does have the stupidity to think as Mark's post indicates.
Independent:  Thanks for the info from that book.  I inspires some hope, but I don't think we've ever had such partisan ideologues on the Supreme Court.  I pray that the sane justices will remain in good health until we have a decent president.

However, Alito and Roberts are rather young men.  Also Thomas and Scalia are young as well.  These 4 Horsemen are going to be around for a long time.  I'm hoping that they aren't the ones predicted for the apocolypse.
Linda & Sue - Thanks for your most on target descriptions of our Supreme Court.  I knew the moment I heard Sandra Day O'Connor was resigning, we were in BIG trouble!!

I felt that Justice William Rehnquist's leaving the Bench was in no way as significant as Justice O'Connor's was.

Sadly, this has played out - thanks!!
The only plausible reason for Olbermann not naming Chris Matthews "Worst Person in the World" is that MSNBC wouldn't allow it.
His show should be renamed SLIMEBALL.
I posted a long serious blog over at my site this PM so I'm in no mood to be serious.  I just want to say that I don't see it about the Virgin Mary watermelon.  It looks like a misshapen slab of raspberry gelato to me.
Pam:  Rehnquist, like Joe McCarthy, is a Wisconsin product.  He was bad from day one.  We're sorry we inflicted another a$$hole on America.
Sue - LOL!! You certainly do not have to apologize that these scum bags, sadly, were products of Wisconsin.

I am proud of Wisconsin, as YOU are also a product of this state!!

We Californians have been making apologies for "Saint Ronald Reagan" for years!! I certainly understand your pain!! Many apologies for his nauseating library, located in Southern California, too!!

PEACE!!

Pam:  Thank you for feeling my pain.
"I just want to say that I don't see it about the Virgin Mary watermelon.  It looks like a misshapen slab of raspberry gelato to me."

Acyually, my wife and I were wondering what PART of the Virgin Mary's anatomy that watermelon was supposed to look like...
KT, TN...Even wonder why most of the Jesus and Mary images end up on E-Bay if they are so sacred? The Blessed Mary Grilled Cheese Sandwich, the Jesus Christ Cross Potato Chip, the Jesus Christ Pierogi, The Weeping Jesus Rock, The Jesus on an Oyster, etc...what I am missing?...you would think people would turn them into sacred shrines...but no, their first thought is I can make money selling this on
E-Bay...strange...Wonder if Jesus and Mary get a cut?
Re SCOTUS: I disagree strenously with the positions of some of the idealogues. However, this is exactly the kind of stuff the court should be addressing. I never thought I'd agree with Scalia on anything because I think he is such a slimebag but in this one area, i think he is right.

In my posting re SCOTUS decision over issue ads prior to an election, I warned that is wasn't the decision that was the problem it was the inconsistency of the courts opinion. They have been, in my view, since Roberts took CJ been saying yes on some occasions and no on other occasions for the same topic.

Scalia is tired of playing gently. He wants strong opinions. The only reason I agree with him is that mediocre justicee will play whaley with the lower courts.

We're gonna see appeals out the kazoo because precedent is unreliable.

IMHO.
Do all these people realize that what they see on their food items, cloud formations, misshapen tree bark, etc., might not be Jesus but Charles Manson?  I once saw a face on my slightly charred Chapati that resembled Jesus, but I was informed by the chef that it was not Jesus, but the Maharishi Mahesh Yogi.  I looked again and decided it was closer to Charlie.  With a burning ember, I added a Swastika between the 'eyebrows', just to update it a bit, slathered on some curry sauce and lentils(who vaguely resembled the Left Field Crowd at Yankee Stadium), and ate it/them.  It all depends on your point of view I guess.

I saw Bill 'O in my jello (lol) maybe I will see Ann Colture in my split pea soup. Yuck, Peace, Denise! P.S. Maybe I will see Bushwhacked in my oatmeal.

Independent: I supposed I addressed the above post to you in light of my post yesterday on the WhiteHouse Subpeona thread and your reply that I was looking at the glass half empty. My responses on this thread noted that what I predicted yesterday did in fact occur. Bush will not release any documents no matter who subpeona's the Whitehouse. And I was trying to answer your half glass analogy by stating I did not want to burst anyone's bubble or sound too critical for the hoops and hollers about the subpeonas, but wanted to remind everyone that this administration will not cooperate in any way regarding subpeonas and none in the Congreess, including the Dems, are going to take this all much further but rather will wait until Bush and Cheney leave office. Not looking at the glass half empty but rather stating the obvious, the history of the Dems and their inability to get tough, and the fact nothing is going to happen to this President and VP until their terms are over, and then they will just go home and reap any rewards they have estblsihed for themselves for the last few years. Does this make sense Independent? Plus I might have just addressed it to you by grabbing a name out of the hat just to make a statement, smile.
