Youre right, Tom Grove- where was the outrage?  Well, where's it now?  You one of those 'two wrongs don't make a right, but three do" guys?  Are you?  Bet you are a huge proponet of 'morales' and 'family values' , too, the way you still seem to be worried that Bill 'got some' some time ago.....hey, wait a minute- where's Jerry today???
I don't think Cheney or Bush would be impeached, but at least the effort would 'out' the people that voted AGAINST it.  At least their identities could be plastered on the news every day until the next elections.  As much as I hate to agree with the Libby decision, it does at least help ensure the impending demise of the corrupt 'family-values' party up on the hill.  Hell- I'm confident this isn't the end of Bush helping the Dems.  Every time one of these stories pops up, people on the blogs say "Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse.....", it gets worse.  Keep 'em comming, puppet-boy!  Like the Mickey-D's promo says- "I'm lovin' it".
Tom Grove: Excuse me but I didn't know you sat on the jury that was enabled and instructed by law to decide Libby's fate. I must have missed your name as one of the jurors. On the other hand if you were not on the jury who cares what you think. Libby was tried and convicted by a jury of his peers who were representing the law and the American people. I don't care if you think Libby was guilty or not. I don't care which side a person takes regarding the decision of guilt or innocence. The fact is he was found guilty by those selected to make that determination. Therefore, Bush just told the jury, the judge and the American people to stick it up their ass (including yours). How does it feel defending and supporting someone who just stuck something up your ass Tom?
If any of you want to take REAL action on this joke of Justice get out your checkbook and fill the coffers of the opposition party and make your donation in the name of Scooter Libby. A story on millions generated for the opposition because of the commutation might make some vulnerable GOP Senators and Reps choke on their wheaties.

1. Fact – Plame was not covert.  Opinion – She actively worked against the administration using her position in the CIA.  She probably should have been fired.
2. Fact – She wasn’t covert so she couldn’t be “outed” so no crime was committed.
3. Fact – Early on in the investigation, it was determined that Armitage was the person who let her name be known – which supports 2 since he was not charged with a crime.  Question.  Why after determining the source, and the fact no crime was committed did the investigation continue?

This became a witch hunt, just find something on someone and punish them.  They pushed Libby, he had a memory lapse and ta-daa there was the head they were looking for.

Now you tell me that it is ok for the Government to investigate nothing, questioning people for the sole purpose of compromising someone.   If it’s ok for Libby, is it ok for you, your wife, kids, other family?  Maybe it’s ok to do it to just a Republican, so now we have political crimes - you can go to jail if you don’t have the correct political ideology?  What does that remind you of?  The president finally did something decent.
I want to thank Joe Wilson again for the courage to stand up to these administration warmongers in the early days.  To tell the truth at a time the truth was not only repressed, but at a time when the patriotism of truth tellers was questioned.  To stand up for what is right at a time when the Grand Oil Pary was sawing the legs off of anyone not kneeling to President Stupid.

BushCo got a twofer with the outing of Valerie Plame.  First, he used her in a flagrant attempt to tarnish Joe Wilson's integrity.  I heard those same stinking talking points all over the news today - the same old lies over and over by the Repugnikant talking heads.

Second, in totally outing Valerie Plame and her entire brass plate company, he destroyed our ability to have intelligence on Iran's nuclear program - handy when you want to save time and use the Iraq WMD plans to justify a brand new shiny war with Iran.

Nixon and Reagan - two American law abusers - didn't have the audacity to commute the sentences of or pardon their law-breaking lackies.  Only BushCo, with an arrogance that can only come from a total disregard of our laws, could disrespect our country to this astonishing degree.

How low can these criminals go?
One might want to read the Inaugural address of the second President of the United States, John Adams. We have with this most surely become a Monarchy, when certain individuals are above the law. These laws I have been made only for us mere people of the United States not the personal friends of our lord and Monarch King Geroge.

Paul Ibsen - STOP PLAYING THE BROKEN RECORD!!
Tom Grove - STOP PLAYING THE BROKEN RECORD!!
Tom Grove - Thank you, we will ALL have a great evening listening to Keith's special comment asking for the resignation of George W. Bush & Dick Cheney.

What? Oh, "pardon me", I must go back to reading the Constitution.....................
Hey, C.A.- re: tom having something shoved up his...   again, like the Mickey D's ad says- I bet 'he's lovin' it'.
George W. (Dubya) Bush entire life on planet earth has been one big lie and cover-up.
This administration has made a mockery of everything this nation has been founded on and stands for. Lies, obstructing justice, total disregard for the constitution, and what is most painful, they are all prospering and will continue to do so until they die. I guess they truly enacted the GOP contract on America and we did get "hit".
Scott: This administration did what they could to discredit any persons with influence who challenged the reasons for invading Iraq including both Plame and Wilson. They did not like anyone taking a position or releasing any information (true or false) that might be in opposition to their reasons for invading Iraq. I know that, you know that, everyone knows that. These folks got together in a smoke-filled room and tossed around ideas on how to handle such opposition from any source. As to anyone's guilt in going too far regarding leaks, telling the truth, perjury, lying or any other shady behavior, I'll hold my tongue as I was not there to personally witness who said what to whom, and who said what first. But you know Scott as well as I do, that there were some folks in this administration including but not limited to Libby who knew how to play these dirty little games and played the dirty little games when this administration's position on Iraq was challeneged. These CYA games happen in every single administration, Dem or Republican. So don't make it sound like this administration is any cleaner then any others. And if any of them (Dem or Republican administrations) are to damn stupid as to how to initiate and keep under wraps any form of covert operations against those who oppose their policies or decisions, then one or more of them ought to go to jail.
Buzz: It's bad enough that Bush is shoving things up the American people's asses including those who support him as Tom and Larry and Scott, etc., but what is really a shame is that they don't even realize it. What's worse? Having something shoved up your ass and knowing it so you can try and get that something out of your ass before anyone knows what happened to you, or not knowing it and walking around town all day with a big smile on your face because you're too ignorant to know there is a long, big broom handle protruding from your behind. On the other hand, perhaps there are those in here that are kind of funny that way and like Bush sticking things up their ass. And if they like it well enough no wonder they defend Bush on this blog. They don't want anyone from stopping Bush or others from giving them what they want in the first place.
Hey DaveD, I'll be sure to pass along your opinion about this whole Libby deal, to my brother, SIL and nephew that are currently serving in Iraq.

Ahhh, it's so nice to know that you can be completely corrupt, lie and hide illegalites for a sitting president and his administration, have people back you up and be thankful that you get to go home to your family, and still make millions.

Um, do any of you people that are standing behind this ludicrous act by Bush realize that we still have Americans fighting and dying in Iraq?  Probably not.  I'm sure that you all still think that Saddam got that yellow cake from Africa.........
scott henderson nv (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 10:27 AM)

Scott, I usually respect your opinion. I can ignore the ranting of neocons but I am disappointed in your position.

I think maybe that you have missed some reports. The CIA issued a statement during Libby's sentencing that Ms. Plame was, in fact, a covert operative at the time she was outed.

Now, that being said, that has nothing to do with the controversy over this issue.

The facts are that Mr. Libby went through all the judicial system's layers for relief. All of those layers confirmed his conviction and sentencing.

This action by this president is saying 'screw you' as he always has when the "justice" system works against his personal wishes.

That is what this is all about. It wasn't right for Clinton either and I maintain that, until we put a stop to such foolishness, each future executive will become even more emboldened to render our justice system "irrelevant".

Can't we agree on that last point?
Enough is enough!  George Bush feels he is above the law.  He is nothing but a lying, corrupt thief and has abused his power long enough.  He is supposed to work for us, the people, but refuses to listen to our wants and needs.  We need to get rid of him before he does anymore damage to this country.
Twillercat, I don't know who your representative is, but my friends is Mica (Republican)and he wrote to her saying that her reasons for impeachment didn't count and that he disgreed with her. Everytime I've written them, I get a bunch of BS. When I wrote Mica when he was my representative before the war in Iraq started and I was against it he sent me literature about the gasing "which Reagan, Bush, Cheney, & Rumsfeld sold to him" of the Kurds that happened 20 years earlier, I told him then, if that's the case and that happened why wasn't anything done then.. I got no reply! I still also wonder to this day why when Papa Bush was told by the CIA that Saddam was heading towards Kuwait, he did nothing about it! Why didn't they do it then? I can guess.....
Please tell me something we don't already know here.  Bush, Chenney, Gonzales, Conny are all liars.  The rest of the wolrd knew and saw that before we did. There was a reason they didn't fallow us blindly into war ( exept Blair of course) Did it take people in this coutry really take that long to realize this?
This is truely constitutional blasphamy!  This administration is so open with their complete disregard for the law. They honestly think they are above the law! Most definately the most corrupt administration since the founding of our nation. Dubya is just the worst!!!
George W. Bush is not currupted; he's juts dumb and he's also scarred for life. for example in his child-hood his sister dies, the parents should be sad right? wrong. the next day bushy's heartless mother and father went golfing the next day. now that's coldblooded. his father basically taught him to be heartless. he's only a puppet in a secert socity that really controls america. The skull and bones. George W. Bush is in it. his father is in it. so is cheney, rumsfeld, john kerrey. so on and so forth. now i must hide again because i just reveiled some people from the skull and bones
George W(war) Bush is not the problem!!!!! The 64 million idiots that voted for him in 2004 are the PROBLEM!!!! They hired him knowing he had been lying and misleading the country for at least 3years prior! We all have to put up with another 19 months of him; so hold on for more action!
Becky from Traverse City, MI.  I have to admit I'm dumbfounded over the right leaning thinking.  What is it about the right that makes them so naive as to believe all of the spin this administration has put out.  Yeah, Clinton did it too.  I don't believe everything I hear from either side nor will I follow my president over a cliff because he's not smart enough or too stubborn to change directions.  But you supporters of Bush have swallowed his spin and lies completely.  You have heard only what you want to hear and because of that you still do not have your facts straight about the Clinton administration, the Bush administration or Valerie and Joe Wilson.  I will not waste my time trying to explain something to people who apparantly have no desire to learn the truth.  So you all just relish this moment because it won't last.  Why don't you stop spitting the talking points of the White House and do yourself a favor by doing some actual research into finding out the truth for yourself.

By the way, Clintons lies didn't get anyone killed, the Bush administration's lies have.
C A, Tuscaloosa, Al (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 11:28 AM)  I think that the dirty little game was played by Plame and Wilson.  I find it too coincidental that both Wilson and Plame are contributors to the Democrat party,  Plame choose her husband to investigate yellow cake in Niger?  If the CIA had been doing it’s job wouldn’t they already know if Iraq had been attempting to get yellow cake from Niger?  It was obviously predetermined what he would find.    One would think the CIA could do better than Wilson but from a democratic political perspective who better?  Even suppose that he did an adequate job in the investigation, his job then should have been to report findings and let it go.   Since when does the CIA get involved with domestic politics?  If the weasel didn’t want his wife’s identity perhaps he should have waited before offering his opinion publicly. Did you know the weasel had been advising kerry on foreign policy prior to his criticism of Bush?   God with people like Plame in the CIA,  our enemies must be laughing out loud.

Why can’t anyone answer the question why was Armitrage not charged with disclosing Plame’s identity if in fact she was covert?
"Please tell me something we don't already know here.  Bush, Chenney, Gonzales, Conny are all liars.  The rest of the wolrd knew and saw that before we did. There was a reason they didn't fallow us blindly into war ( exept Blair of course) Did it take people in this coutry really take that long to realize this? "

Most counties didn't want war because they were making money hand over fist from questionable business practices with Iraq. Iraq was required to prove their lack of WMDs and stopped the UN from doing so for over a decade. Maybe we should have taken Sadaam at his word?

They weren't wrong to invade, but they should not have done it without being able to do it right.
Americans can never know whether Libby would have informed on his masters, but everyone on the planet can be certain beyond any reasonable doubt that Bush thinks Scooter is a worm who would have turned. The legacy is now written in permanent ink: Bush is as crooked as Nixon.
Ha,Ha, Ha, It's over.
Ezequiel (Sent Monday, July 02, 2007 9:48 PM)

Shut up!!
It ain't over, its only just begun.
scott henderson nv (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 2:31 PM)

Scott, Scott, Scott:

The case wasn't pursued further because of that little word called "intent". Mr. Fitzgerald (a republican named to this inquiry as special prosecutor by John Ashcroft btw) said that that portion of the case had been so covered that he didn't think he'd be able to untangle it. He never never never said he didn't believe that the crime didn't occur.

I notice that you've backed off somewhat on the "she wasn't covert" angle. If you keep reading and researching, you'll come to the reality: This administration outed a covert CIA agent because her husband had the unmitigated gall to publicly disclose the lies that led to the Iraq war. In addition to outing that agent, an entire investigative team focused on what was supposedly the most important issue of our time, ferretting out terrroists, had to be closed down. Anyone remotely affiliated with that effort under covert status is now at risk.

funny that IT WASN"T LIBBY that was the PERSON who leaked Plame name.....and that's a fact, but NO ONE wants to address that do they... Everyone wants to blame Libby for it... He wasn't the person it was Armitage did it.

FACT, Armitage was the person who leaked her name.....Can anyone disagree with that!!!!!
lee,
By the way, Clintons lies didn't get anyone killed, the Bush administration's lies have.

Well, if Clinton had DONE his job...He had 10 tries and FAILED to get bin laden..... we wouldn't be in this situtation. oh how we forget the failures of the clintons when we only see red for Bush.. Get your perspectives straight....
Opps, looks like I hit a nerve with the angry liberals and the hate Bush crowd.  Love to see your rants gives me a good chuckle.  Such hate - I thought liberals were all about compassion and freedom of speech.  I see lots of swearing, name calling, references to deviant sexual acts and quite a bit of elitism.  Dosen't appear you angry liberals are following the blog rules.

"...use appropriate language and are not attacking the comments of others."

Especially Christopher Courington he seems to have an anger management problem - hope you are seeing a therapist for that problem.  You all have a wonderful day seething in your anger:)

Is there any wonder why we will eventually be dealing with car bombs and suitcase nuclear devices in America when we have such assholes running or is it ruining the country.  The Home Entertainment industry will be the only winner when we are afraid to go outside in crowds.
Tom Grove: That's right Tom. Liberals support freedom of speech which may at times include cussing, maybe some name-calling now and then, and reference to sexual acts. Sex is great!!!! At least they don't claim the moral high ground while also swearing and name-calling and talking sexual acts as do those on the right. My gosh, some of the most hateful, abusive, profane language and comments about banging  Betty the night before I have heard has come from those moral high ground elitist on the right 10 minutes after walking down the steps of their Church on Sunday morning where they heard a sermon about those evil left wing libs. At least the libs wait 15 minutes after leaving the prayer service at their communes on Sunday morning. I guess it takes the libs an extra five minutes longer to get the hair out of their eyes, the beads from around their necks and to pick a few flowers before they feel ready to start the cussing again. Have a great day Tom seething in your anger about people in here seething about their anger. By the way Tom, are you a geek?
I am fully confident that after all is said and done, that when you connect the dots from the start of the Bush Administration until it ends, we will all find that the war in Iraq along with all the illegal activities Bush and Cheney have been involved in, will lead to Bush's and Cheney's pockets by way of all the kick backs I suspect they have been getting from Haliburton.  If Bush and Cheney knew there were no WMDs, no connection to Al Qaida, no nuclear weapons program, etc. etc., the only possible motive for going to war had to be war profiteering at the cost of nearly 3600 American men and women's lives and over 25,000 severely wounded so far.  I just hope that our Congress uncovers the veil of secrecy within the Bush and Cheney White House.  If they are successful in doing so, I just hope that they throw both Bush and Cheney in prison where they belong.
Before I really lose my temper, will someone stop Scott's Plame/Wilson STUPID conspiracy theory!! IDIOT!!
As Victor, Balad, Iraq so eliquently said.

Follow the money, and you'll find the criminals.  I sure would like to be in the room when Cheney's accountant prepares his taxes.  Hiding the bribes must take forever.

I am very proud to say that I didn't vote for "43", either time!  I just wish that Gore didn't have the deck stacked against him in FL and in the Supreme Court.

Enjoy the 4th

"The standard common law test of criminal liability is usually expressed in the Latin phrase, actus non facit reum nisi mens sit rea, which means that "the act does not make a person guilty unless the mind is also guilty". Thus, in jurisdictions with due process, there must be an actus reus accompanied by some level of mens rea to constitute the crime with which the defendant is charged (see the technical requirement of concurrence). "
Scott; There was no conspiracy by Plame and Wilson to destroy Bush's justifications for invading Iraq. So what if they were, are supporters and contributors to the democratic party. That does not make them conspiators. You will have to come up with some solid evidence of that Scott rather than assume by some pretty weak circumstantial evidence. By even if that were the case, it does not excuse either side from playing dirty tricks to usurp or quiet the other side. If Plame and Wilson did conspire against Bush then that is bad, espcially in light of their positions. If Bush and Cheney and Libby conspired against Plame and Wilson that is even worse.... considering "their" positions.
Independent, Texas (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 4:24 PM)  No Indy, I didn’t mean to back off on the covert claim.  Let me state it quite clearly I do not believe she was covert.  I believe if she were clearly and unarguably covert Fitzgerald would have indicted someone for the disclosure.  The weasel had to have known that after going public with his opinion he would get some heat, and probably discussed the issue with both his attorney and wife, and probably Kerry or his election staff.  Notice I think he is a weasel not stupid.  They probably expected her identity to be compromised, and decided to go forward anyway.  She might have had a secret status, but not covert, and clearly was in no danger as a result of the disclosure. The CIA was used as an instrument of a political party that is obvious.

As far as Fitzgerald unable to “untangle it” just what needed untangling?  Either she was covert and Armitage is guilty of the disclosure or she wasn’t.  Since Armitage has not been indicted I think it is clear she wasn’t.

 Have a good 4th Indy.
As far as Cheney profiting from his Vice Presidency, try using some of that grey matter God so generously provided you guys with.  If money were his motivation, he could have made one hell of a lot more money staying private than he did becoming Vice President.
Pam Bignardi, San Pedro, California (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 5:27 PM)  Hope you have a nice 4th, sugar.
Carol,

that could be said about all the past misgivings of the Clinton family as well...and of pelosi, harry reid's sons (Lobbists)....feinstein (her husband)... it occurs in both parties....... but you won't admit to it would you?
angie, tampa, fl -

BREAKING NEWS:  Today's date is Januray 3, 2007!!

Stop with the "bububububu" defense!! Defend George W. Bush on his own merits or go away.  You are only making a fool of yourself!!

Perspectives?  How about facts Angie?  You need to know a fact about your comment.

THIS.LIBBY.THING.HAD.NOTHING.TO.DO.WITH.OSAMA.BIN.LADEN.

Yes, President Clinton tried and failed, and readily admitted it. He also tried and was shot down by a Republican Congress.  Tell ME Miss Angie, where is bin Laden now?  It's been nearly six years since our country was attacked, and we've had troops in Afghanistan for over 5-where is he?

Where was he before Bush invaded a sovereign nation based on lies that had NOTHING to do with September 11, 2001-an invasion that has left over 5,584 dead American heroes, countless wounded American heroes, and thousands upon thousands of dead and injured Iraqi's?

See Angie, that isn't perspective, it's a fact.  Now, I suggest you rearrange YOUR perspective and get your FACTS straight.,

PEACE!

BTW Angie-if you'd come around here more than once in a blue moon to hyperventilate,  you'd realize that most of us around here do point out the misdeeds done by Democrat leaders.

Oh, and another BTW, the flippin' Clinton administration was over SIX FREAKING YEARS AGO-it is time to move on and face the reality of what is happening NOW!
scott henderson nv (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 5:55 PM)

OK - If you think that the CIA is lieing about Ms. Plame's covert status. Then that is what you think. If you want to deny published fact, I can't stop you.

You have a good 4th as well.

I'll be crying over how our forefathers sacrificed everything to create the absolute greatest experiment in government that has worked so beautifully for over 200 years and that has been brought to its current state.

I'll be crying over all those people who died in Iraq, ours and theirs, and those who were so wounded and the families that are dealing with loss and injury all because this administration LIED.

I'll be crying over all those people who will die tomorrow in Iraq because this administration LIED.

I'll be crying over the fact that the one person who we managed to get some accountability in this administration was released from payment because our president LIED.

Our president said that "he did not believe in interfereing with justice unless some new evidence had been brought forth after sentencing" in his book. He LIED.

I hope that you will have a happy happy 4th believing that all is well. It isn't.
The "commutation"/pardon of Libby is an abomination and the final affirmation to all Americans that “justice” does not, and has not, existed in America since the Bush administration was appointed by the Supreme Court. There’s a kid in prison down south for having a teenage consensual sexual encounter with a fellow teenager who’s going to spend 10 years behind bars, even though he never would have been convicted under the revised state statute. Libby gets a presidential commutation/pardon from a two and a half year sentence for crimes that could, and may have, harmed this country. This should disgust and frighten us all, as it is yet another slap in the face to us written-off Americans who would have found ourselves in Gitmo for lesser crimes, and with no recourse to justice.

Kathy in New Hampshire
Independent, Texas (Sent Tuesday, July 03, 2007 7:34 PM)  Then why didn’t Fitzgerald convice anyone of the crime?  Come on Indy, hyperbole does not suit you.  The state of the Union is healthy, and I intend to enjoy the holiday.
