The AP reports that Sen. David Vitter (R, LA) has apologized for his name showing up the infamous DC Madame's phone records (read: list of 'johns'). The report says that the liaison occurred before he was a senator, and that his wife knew about it before his public apology.

"This was a very serious sin in my past for which I am, of course, completely responsible," Vitter said in the statement. "Several years ago, I asked for and received forgiveness from God and my wife in confession and marriage counseling. Out of respect for my family, I will keep my discussion of the matter there — with God and them. But I certainly offer my deep and sincere apologies to all I have disappointed and let down in any way."

He says his family and God knew about whatever infractions occurred...we just wonder if Rudy Giuliani or a certain Christian-right non-profit think tank and lobbying firm knew about it.

Rudy Giuliani has picked up his first endorsement from a current GOP Senator — and he's a major Southern conservative from Louisiana, no less. Rudy's campaign announced today that Rudy's earned the backing of Senator David Vitter, who will server as regional chair for the Giuliani campaign in the South — exactly the region where he needs the support of people like Vitter.

You'll also recall that Giuliani's campaign director in South Carolina was caught allegedly dealing crack...and now this. Oopsie.

For his work in Congress, David has received numerous awards from leading organizations such as Americans for Tax Reform, the 60 + Association, and the Family Research Council.

The rest of the country has alway's talked about the corruption in Louisiana's politics. Breaking news posted here from a poster from another state about a Louisiana politician, who may have broken the law since prostitution is illegal, but i should not respond to it. Senator Vitter's Campaign was about family values, he has a right to try for my vote, but i should not respond. The country has a right to talk about another Louisiana political scandle, but i should not respond.

At the time they went after Clinton I felt much the same as you probably do. I figured that anyone would lie about an affair if for no other reason than to protect his marriage. But Clinton lied, got caught, then tried some lame ass excuse about the definition of "is".
The guy in this story told his wife long ago and already went through marriage counseling. There was no obligation to call a press conference and tell everyone. If I recall, adultery made the Top Ten List of Sins. Being gay did not.

What Family Research Council, Focus on the Family, and their right-wing Christian cohorts do is foster an atmosphere of hatred and fear. They need to be exposed as to who they really are- a bunch of hypocrites. They preach the need for protection of our freedom and letting people live their lives as they want to, but have no problem interfering with my constitutional-given freedoms.

She has staunchly defended the rights of all here and I believe you should read some of her past posts.

Yes, I have read many of Jamie's posts since making NewsHole a daily part of my Internet travels back in May. I was simply making my point about the conservatives, that THEY DO judge, and we just want the right to live as other Americans do: providing for our families, being accepted in our communities, and having the same (read: not special) rights to do this as everyone else.

Is it too much to speculate that now that Dan Patrick is free, we could see the return of "The Big Show," only this time maybe just once a week, on NBC? Or on MSNBC? Or maybe that at least Keith could pull Dan onto Countdown with him every Monday night so they could do a wrapup of the weekend's sports together, catchphrases and all?

What's wrong with prostitution anyway? It's the only way some people get any attention. We all need lovin'. It does seem pretty sordid that this guy would use the service while in his church and in his conservative clique he actively supported criminalizing the very same activity. He's really off.

Hmm . . . "no specific threat" and "may be". Another fine example of propaganda using vague and spooky language.

There is also no specific threat of an asteroid impact but the gravitational perturbations in the asteroid belt and the Oort could may be sending a large chunk o' something hurtling our way this summer.

There is no specific threat that peanut butter prices will soar but pests may be regrouping to eat the crops this summer.

Make of that what you will.

And again, if we ARE attacked, test Cheney's hands for explosives residue first.

Yeah. Or the WH has finally figured out the public sees the color code for what it is: A tool to try and ratchet up our fear and us forget whatever administration screwup/war crime/crime-against-nature the Chimp and his master have done now. The Emperor not only doesn't have any clothes, his crying-wolf act wouldn't work even if there WAS a legitimate, imminent threat against the US. That's what happens when you lie... and lie... and lie about the lying... and lie about the people who caught you lying...

Therefore continuing on this form of thinking, since President Clinton attends church and one can assume he also has asked forgiveness, his wife has most certainly forgave him, his sins and trangressions are no more. There is no need for him to say such and make his dirty linen be made public. Yet no one seems willing to forgive him, and using his past as a excuse for their own violations of the ten commandments and the law as well.
To Larry, Scott, John, whomever brought up the fact of the ethically challanged pardons that Bill Clinton gave at the end of his term, why did during the roughly six years of Republican controlled congress that no one challanged this, no questions, no charges, not even a pip. One can easily make the assumtion that their silence in this time frame is acknowledgement by the Republicans that he was justified in his actions. Why now do you feel it is congress responibilty to correct all past wrongs. Should they bring in Bush I for pardoning all the cronies involved with the Iran/contra affair. Where will it stop and when will we deal with this present fiasco that we are currently mired in.

Isn't it strange that these guys like Vetter (I dont care if I spell his name correctly) are soooooo apologetic (once caught) Why did they not confess their sins to the public before they got caught. You know like when they asked GOD to forgive them and of course he did (what choice does GOD have when dealing with a politician )!!!!!!!
