Mitt Out You

Posted: Saturday, July 28, 2007 4:47 PM by Countdown

In the latest "is this guy serious?" moment of the 2008 Primary Campaign, former Massachussetts Governor Mitt Romney apparently isn't a fan of snowmen, and has all but said no to CNN's Republican YouTube debate.

He told CSPAN....

You know, I do think that there is a degree of respectfulness that ought to be associated with the process of selecting a nominee for each party, and I think from what I’ve heard that, that, that level of respectfulness was breached, you know I don’t that it makes sense to have people running for president, answering questions from, posed from snowmen. Uh, so, with things of that nature, I’d look for a format that’s a little more, uh, a little more respectful if possible.

Here he is on CSPAN via YouTube re: CNN and YouTube:

TPMCafe makes the case that Mitt doesn't like the YouTube because, well, YouTube hasn't been bery bery good to him.

well, who was that Mitt and the Deaftones?? that guy makes my skin crawl. they hated him in MA. they were glad he left. pu-leeeeese. he looks like he's dressed for hiking. perhaps he should take one.
Brenda

I have paid attention to your posts, only since I have been on here, and I see the growing trend.  I know you state that you are not alone, but to state that the Bush Administration was responsible for 9-11 is, with all due respect, ridiculous.  There was 19 evil, braimwashed, looking to 72 virgin, radical islamic scumbugs who committed the worst attack on US Soil.

Yes I know that Bush was in your state.  At that time he chose to not upset the children, and calmly state that he needed to attend to other business.  There was no need to panic those young children.  I believe at that point he did the right thing.

THE GOVERNMENT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH 9-11.  Please, Brenda, you can state your opinion however you like, but you are way off track here.  For the sake of yourself, move on.

Pam

I know what you are trying to say, but there is no link between Bush and Pat Tillman. You say that the Bush lies all the time, and that is your perogative (sp), but my point is Bush is not to blame here.  Now if you also believe that Bush caused 9-11, then I can see how you would make that link.  I don't agree with it, but I stated that in the paragraph above.

Please keep your focus and perspective on what is right and wrong.  I have come on here and said that Gonzales needs to go, but I respectfully disagree with your Bush Lied mantra.  Do all politicians tell the truth.  No, of course not, they tell you what you want to here.  But that discussion is for another day.

Have a good work week all!

Pam, I do believe the Directives and Executive Orders, due to the fact that this is what they want..  Through the Patriot Act and Military Commissions Act they don't have to lie, because those they have done for themselves.. all under false pretenses I may say, but those two things save their butts.

Independent, since this is in the top I'm letting you know sweets I answered your question in the blog
Breaking: Blue-In-The-Face Watch I am telling you here.. since this is at the top at this time..
MK my fellow "Circle City"ite!! I am truly humbled by your kind words in your 11:03 pm post. Wow...I'm glad you think I have something relevant to bring to the table.

I used to live in Dan Burton's district [insert upchucking sound here]; I live in Julia Carson's district now - Yippee! I actually had a fairly long conversation with her in a nail salon the day after Thanksgiving a few years ago about (of all subjects) what to do with all the leftover food. She's very funny and personable!

Thanks again for your thoughts!

What is the "Nook in the Rock" room?  It is not an expression with which I am familiar.  You are not that far from me geographically (10 miles south to Rte 78 and 24 miles to the Delaware river), so it must be generational.

Have a good day -- but carry your umbrella.
SO, when are the liberals goind to debate on Fox ??
Well, it doesn't matter much to me what Romney says, there's no way I'm voting for anyone who is part of a religion that thinks my skin color is the sign of a curse from God. C'mon, are you all really going to put someone into the Oval Office whose core religious beliefs include thinking black skin is a holy curse?
My problem with Mitt Romney is not his religion.  It's his pandering, flip-flopping, and denial.  The man has already demonstrated that he will say or do ANYTHING to get elected.  No principles at all, just absolutely shameless.
What's wrong with a snoman posing questions to a group of candidates?  We have a turnip that routinely makes statements to reporters at press conferences.
One reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' program will not work is because too many people believe that "it's not my politician" that's causing the problem.  Every one else's representatives and senators are corrupt, but not "mine".

Another reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' program will not work, is the 'hold the nose' factor.  No matter how bad it is, some people would never, ever switch parties and vote the incumbent out.

The main reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' campaign is necessary is because even if "your representative" is not the problem, they have been enabling the "problem" ones either actively or passively.

Today, it's the lock-stepped republican foot soldiers who faithfully follow '43'.  Listening to them try to defend the 'executive privilege' nonsense over Tilman and everything else was enough to turn my stomach.

Tomorrow, it'll be something else, but for now, the ultra right wing neo-cons masquerading as republicans have got to be stopped soon, before there is no Constitution or Bill of Rights left to defend.

Hail Caesar, Heil Hitler, Hail bush.
Wanda- it's not his MORMONISM that affects his ability to practice the 'principal of honesty'- it's his political party affiliation.
Pam,
you accuse Fox of being biased and apparently think that CNN is above all of that. Yet, it was CNN and NOT the public who chose what questions were aired.  Do you remember one single question on terrorism?  no!  yet it's the single greatest issue of our time and the issue the democrats are weakest on.  and somehow i'm supposed to think that not one single American submitted a question on it?

The fact is CNN is as liberal as Fox is conservative.  Republicans should still debate there, tho.  the defeatocrats have already shown their cowardice in facing the tough question Fox would have asked.  I guarantee the republicans will be given much harder questions than the democrats got - and they will probably be hate and emotion filled rants from your fellow liberals chosen because they portray republicans badly....

You're right, Carol.  The "Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians" program will probably never work.  I would be glad to retire a few of our state representatives.  But, hey, would anyone here like to see my state senator, Russ Feingold, gone?  (Charleston Larry, you need not put your ridiculous spin on this inquiry).
Let's see , democrats refuse to debate on Fox and they are hero's because Fox is bad. Republican's skip the debate and they are assholes. Liberals are comical. Everyone knows the You tube debate was embarassing. Who was you favorite teacher ? Say something you like about the person to your left ? If these were the 30 most intelligent questions then the American people are hopeless. Get over it libs, CNN YOUTUBE was a joke. They should have let the Citadel Cadets ask 30 questions and watch the libs squirm. What a worthless bunch !

Hey Pam, recruited any new terrorist lately ? Remember the Geneava Convention and the liberal's torture tactics ! Big brother is watching

I agree friend!!
Folks like Wayne have no right to chemically bomb a defenseless oil reserve into rubble and then force the survivors of the chemical attack to rebuild their rubble with only American companies within our deadlines and in the enconomic and political system we fashion. Wayne said Saddam was planning to be a bad boy. Saddam had no air force, navy, aerial defenses or any conception of a missile system. Republicans are the psychopaths arming space. Republicans are the maniacs creating biological weapons. Republicans are the orbs of light who sold nukes to India and Pakistan and then slaughtered 17 innocent Pakistanis at dinner because the bad guy ate early and we're sorry and Peter had to run home to Florida to see his kids. Wayne's boys let the Iraqi army go home with the guns we sold them and they now use to kill our troops while doing a little dance on a little navy boat. Wayne. American President Daddy Bush sold the weapons to Saddam he used to murder the Iranians, Kurds and their kids. It is Neanderthalic to sit round the campfire discussing how much longer we should go door to door shooting the residents resisting our military occupation to steal this oil reserve. What honor is there to protect when you murder innocent people from 40,000 feet and thena have the audacity to tell the world you're doing them a big American favor. Chemically bombing a defenseless oil reserve to steal 70 percent of all their oil profits forever and control of development and production is simply an international oil theft gone terribly wrong. Don't litter the war dead with more lies about Saddam's intentions. Cheney and Halliburton were selling oil field equipment to Saddam before 2000. Bush and Cheney are taxing us for an oil and gas pipeline in Azerbaizan. Their leader, Ilham Heydar is a mass murderer. How self righteous do you feel? Are you better than the dead barbarians you melt with a B-52 from 40,000 feet because you're such a man? NO, you're Neanderthalic Hunter-Gatherers sitting round the campfire deciding how much longer to murder the wrong people if we can't fetch their oil for Exxon!! It's a disgrace to humanity and not one of these presidential candidates can even mention the oil or the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions who kept Halliburton off the rigs in 2003 when the oil company illegally represented this nation as an "agent" stating reconstruction funds would be withheld if the unions didn't allow them to access the rigs. The unions reacted by shutting down the entire system for three days, cutting off funding to the former parliament and Halliburton ran away. It is now moving to Dubai, perhaps to escape American justice and be closer to the oil reserve they still intend to steal. One last thing. Bush lied about commuting Libby's sentence. Judge Walton had sentenced Libby to 30 months for obstruction of justice, six months for making false statements to the FBI during an investigation, 24 months for perjury, making false statements to a grand jury and fifteen months for another perjury to the grand jury. Judge Walton had already reduced sentencing to 30 months. The Presidential Liar said, "...do hereby commute the prison terms imposed by the sentence upon the said Lewis Libby to expire immediately, leaving intact and in effect the two-year term of supervised release, with all its conditions, and all other components of the sentence." Well folks. Libby can't serve supervised release if he never goes to prison. There will be nowhere for him to be released from and hence, the Presendial Liar would have the American public believe Libby will serve some type of supervised probation. NO WAY. This is Bush Country. There's only one rule, there are no rules. We murder for oil and tell the world we're spreading democracy. We're spreading something alright!!
Keith, Allentown, PA (Sent Monday, July 30, 2007 7:13 AM)

Keith -

We disagree on fundamental issues.  George W. Bush is to blame for many things; based his OWN track record, which speaks for himself. People do not believe him period!!

Therefore, yes, George W. Bush is to blame for ALL distrust, ALL questioning of all events that have transpired during his tenure and should be sent to The Hague and charged with war crimes, crimes against humanity, violations of the Geneva Conventions, murder and treason among many many other criminal and international violations.

You have NEVER read one thing from me stating 9/11 was a conspiracy, it was orchestrated by Bush, or that Bush had Pat Tillman killed.  You have missed my point multiple times; as ALL of the skepticism relating to these events and others is the DIRECT FAULT of George W. Bush!! I have NEVER stated otherwise.

It is your prerogative to believe as you wish and it is mine to believe as I wish.  Personally, I find it absurd, irresponsible, a violation of his oath of office and criminal that he remained in that classroom and continued to read "My Pet Goat" after being told our country was under attack.  What about those children? What about the country? NO, he gets ZERO slack from me!! What he did showed his inability to lead and put those children in danger by staying, in addition to the country.

PEACE!!

LOL!!!!
C'mon libs - debate on Fox. Show them you aren't scared.  Yea right. Hillary , I love your jacket. My favorite teacher was Mr Smith, he taught me to talk. Yes, I'm all for you two lesbians getting married. Ok, reparations for the white males - the most discriminated people in the US. Any more questions before we get to Liberals Raising taxes , disemating the military , etc ?

Pam, How are your terrorist' friends coming along ?
I know this goes without saying, and many people have done this and much more, but just a quick reminder from the Military Officer magazine:

Will You Really Support the Troops?

'Many Americans have "Support Our Troops" bumper stickers, but war-zone leaders say the troops' real need is for free phone cards to help them keep in contact with their families.  Please make a concrete difference for those on the front lines.'

'Those affiliated with the military:  Active, retired, reserve, etc., can visit the Army/Air Force Exchange Service online at https://thor.aafes/com/scs/default.aspx to donate one or more cards.'

For anybody that's ever been away from home for any reason, you know what it's like to just hear that voice on the other end of a long distance phone line-it means the world to our troops-I know it really does.

Thank you and PEACE!

Well worth reading.

Krista,  I like Julie Carson BUT she appears to be drunk most of the time and that scares me.  It is good to hear she held an intelligent conversation with you,  even if it was two years ago.  I have been of the opinion that she is always loopy drunk and not up to doing her job.  She came very close to loosing the election last November,  hope that sobered her up some. We really need a solid challenger to take out Dan Burton.  When I call his office I get stonewalled by this office person who only wants to argue with me.  The guy who answered the last time I called went on to arrogantly state why Dan is right and I am wrong.  I told him I thought his "job" was to take messages,  I am sure he liked that.  I know that Dan has bought a place REALLY close to my new home ( there goes the neighborhood!),  like the same building,  so maybe one day I'll "run" into him and his latest fling.  We can chat while taking out our garbage.  Now that would be fun!
Carol, Long Valley and others - "throw all the bums out" won't necessarily work.  For one, I will never give up Russ Feingold in the US Senate - the best guy there in my opinion.  Additionally, it provides no reward for those doing a good job.

What is really needed is public financing of all campaigns - so that we don't continue to have a Congress made up of millionaires or those beholden to corporate donors.  Limitations on those expensive media ads would be a blessing to us all and limit the amount of cash that they would need to raise.

Right now we have a millionaire Congress beholden to their corporate donors, without a care for the people.  They figure that they can do what they want and then just put out massive amounts of "attack the other guy" election ads to ensure that the sheeple will vote for them.  After all, we no longer have real news reporting in this country anymore to discount all their lies and expose their records so they feel that they can do and say whatever they want.
Buzz, that gave me my daily Chuckle :)
Why all the publicity coming from Countdown on Romney. The guy was not going to get the republican nomination from the get go. Let's move on and find someone or something worth reviewing.
SO, when are the liberals going to debate on Fox ??
Larry Charleston, SC (Sent Monday, July 30, 2007 10:09 AM)

I doubt that they will. They are scared. Scared that they will be ask a "real" question from a thoughtful articulate host and will get stumped on national TV with millions watching. Have you seen that batch of weirdo's that are running for the Liberal Democrat nomination. When you put all of them together they look like the old has been band Sha Na Na....without Bowzer. The other day when all were on stage I expected that at any moment Hill would grab the mike, pull up her skirt and start high stepping around the stage like they did at Woodstock. Yikes!
What the hell kind of name is "Mitt" any way. Next we will probably be seeing "Beaver" or "Gopher" run for office. Oh wait, one of them already has....

You want respect you little p.o.s.? Earn it like I have to.

Oh yea, one mor thing. Say hello to all twelve of your grandmothers for us all.

EXCELLENT!!!!
What an amazing stuck-up piece of work. Sorry, Mitt, that real Americans might have real questions (even if they have fun with the presentation) unlike the kooky soft-ball questions from Fox noise-monkeys or CNN inaction figures. All the candidates whose science knowledge dates back to 1820, raise your hands now!

As another blogger said, is your panic attack over yet? Good!! Now, please tell me where I said anything about CNN.  I did NOT even mention it buddy!!

Get a grip, as I explained WHY the DNC yanked the debated from Fox and I agree with that decision. When the PRESIDENT of a news organization displays such racism, they deserve to air NO debate!!

The fault lies squarely with Fox News' president, Roger Ailes!!
Here's the WOW story of the day:

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=abIV0cO64zJE&refer

The National Security Agency asked AT+T to set up call monitoring, not AFTER 9/11, but SEVEN MONTHS EARLIER, in February 2001 - which puts it shortly after BushCo was appointed President.  This is coming out of a privacy lawsuit by customers of the largest carriers in the United States.

This definitely negates the case that BushCo and his enablers have been making that 9/11 created the necessity of such call monitoring since the creation of the illegal monitoring program predated the "terrorism prevention" excuse by 7 months.

Expect more truth to be revealed about the true nature of this criminal administration.
Supposedly, the question that made Giuliani decide he had "scheduling conflicts" was:

"In the past, you all have expressed the opinion that you need to protect the sanctity of marriage as between one man and one woman. could each of you state how many times you've been married, and for how long."

I'd add:

"As the guy who let the world Trade Center get attacked twice on his watch, how can you promote yourself as the guy who's going to keep us safe?"

"How did you feel when you found out your campaign manager tried to sell 20 kilos of cocaine to a undercover cop, and how does this tie into your claims you're going to bring America back to "family values? And if you can't tell your own campaign manager is a major drug dealer, how can we trust you to "keep us safe?"
Hey Bud Light: Tell me when any politican in any debate (regardless of the sponsor or moderator) was put on the spot, and if so provided nothing but the typical BS skirt around the issue response (republicans or democrats). The only person I can think of that seemed to stumble quite a bit when asked pointed questions has been GW Bush. Not only in prior debates but more specifically after he became President.
This is a very very sad day for me!! May he rest in peace!!

SAN FRANCISCO

BREAKING NEWS

Bill Walsh, who transformed the NFL with his West Coast offense and led the San Francisco 49ers to three Super Bowl championships during the 1980s, died Monday after a long battle against leukemia. He was 75.

Carol,   Great article about the VP office.  I liked that part were Mondale said they told the truth, broke no laws and kept the peace.  Cheney is power hungry and Bush is such a dimwit he is/was easily over powered.
Larry: Not working with Pam anymore. You no longer have her attention. So you might as well just post without trying to get a rise out of her.

What would be cool is to see a Dem debate moderated by Hannity and Limbaugh and a republican debate moderated by Olbermann and Bill Mahr. The only problem Larry is that you would not get much out of the dem debate. Hannity and Limbaugh would not give the dem candidates any time to answer the questions because of their constant interruptions and their need to hear themselves talk. At least Olbermann and Mahr would let the republican candidates try and answer their questions.

I loved what you wrote, I just wish that you had added some white space to make it easier to read.

Please come back and post more of your thoughts.
After seeing how Mitt performed the last time he wasn't in a completely scripted forum, this isn't surprising. Remember when he was asked about smiling while standing with someone holding a sign that said "No to Obama Osama and Chelsea's Mom"? He handled that question so graciously, just imagine what a powerful snowman could to him.

You know these republican candidates, they only deal with straw men, not snowmen...
Hmmm, my post back to Keith didn't get here.. I didn't state anything nasty to him.. I was pretty pleasant.. but I said as Pam did.. that he can have his opinion and vice versa... nah, I am not going to move on because 9/11 is what started The Thug Bunches dirty deeds thing on a roll. PNAC PNAC PNAC...
Pam,

If you refuse to watch a news station that is headed by a politically biased individual, then you probably don't watch ABC,NBC(especially NBC), CBS, NPR, PBS, CNN, or MSNBC.

What does a CEO's political affiliation have to do with the fact that an entire political party refuses to debate on Fox because they don't want to answer tough questions.

Democrats on CNN = No questions on terrorism

Democrats on FOX = plenty of questions on terrorism.
