I don't know about you but I could go for "The temple explodes the chicken cube" with a side of rice and an egg roll right about now. I think every item on every menu should be as descriptive. Maybe then people will be a little more hesitant before ordering so much crap. Or maybe, at least, the will go for the steamed crap instede.

Speaking of steamed crap, Andrew Card was just interviewed on MSNBC about the Senator Craig resignation-to-be. The WONDERFUL weekend anchor, and 1000 apologies for not catching her name, came right out and asked him about the image of the Republican party not practicing what they preach as far as "family values" and such and possible ramifications for the 2008 election. Mr. Card proceeded to spin this line that these were the actions of an individual that absolutely did not reflect on the party as a whole. Let us hope that he and others are that "fair and generous" if a Democratic party member is involved in a similar scandal in the future.

Well, it's official. MSHA took the occassion of the long Labor Day holiday weekend to quietly announce at 5:30 PM Friday (after the regular media news programs were done) that they were finished looking for the 6 miners stuck in the Crandall Canyon Mine in Utah.

We should spend Labor Day considering how worker safety standards have been eroded during the Reagan, Bush I, and Bush II administrations and insist on restoration of those protections.

7 mine disasters in the past 7 years is way too many. The coal industry is advertising heavily on television about how wonderful and clean coal is. The body of a dead miner would be more accurate.

But, the current "talking points" that I've heard from nearly everyone is the fact that Senator Craig pleaded guilty to a crime. While Senator Vitter shouldn't have been screwing around on his wife, what he did wasn't illegal. I also heard a couple Senators and a few pundints say that Craig would still be in the Senate if he hadn't made the guilty plea and decided to fight in court. Guess Senator Craig was more afraid of what sordid details may have come out in a trial.

Don't you all realize that large American companies somewhere here in the USA gave the Chinese the specifications (and cost) of those products, and sold them to us! Is illegal homosexual activity more heinous than illegal heterosexual activity?

To the "Christian Conservatives" aka "the Religious Right" all sex is bad, but homosexual sex is worse. Even though Christ never preached against homosexuality in any of the books of the New Testament, they have taken it upon themselves to rid America of this activity.

As I've written before, you can't legislate morality, it can't be done, and it shouldn't be tried. One thing that happens when you demonize an activity is that you create 'criminals' where no 'crime' exists. The only other result is that the 'forbidden' behavior doesn't stop, it just goes underground until a future government comes to it's senses.

God created us all, we are all human and fallible. For crying out loud, folks, it's just sex, it's not a crime. Whatever happens between consenting adults in private (public restrooms are not private) is no one else's business. The 'morality' police need to get over themselves and let everyone else alone. If Larry hadn't preached so loudly against himself, no one would care. Larry Craig was a "nasty, dirty, bad boy" in his own eyes, and he made himself one in the eyes of others. He has only himself and his hypocrisy to blame.

I wanted to answer Ann Walling's question about why Vitter hasn't been forced to resign, even though he engaged in illicit sex. It's all about the politics. The "Honorable" Larry Craig's Republican seat is going to be filled with another Repugnican. Vitter's seat would possibly go to a Democrat, and so the Grand Ol' Perverts can't possibly let that happen.

I really can't wait for this nightmare of an administration to be over with.

Clinton I was disappointed with the eventual disclosure that he indeed had had "sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky." Well Sen. Craig's repeated assertion that he is not gay and that he never has been gay has that same ring. I guess that means he's not gay he's just on the downlow. So where are the stained pants or suit coat that will prove it beyond a doubt? When will the GOP learn to live and let live?

We Americans have been had by this pair of "co-presidents". One reads the cue cards that the other has drafted. Neither one gives a damn about anyone else but their like minded neocon friends. The immorality of these "Conservatives without Conscience" has killed thousands of people, Americans as well as Iraqis.

Once again THE INVASION OF IRAQ WAS PURELY ABOUT THE OIL -- EVERY OTHER MADE UP EXCUSE WAS PROPAGANDA. We are occupying another sovereigh nation -- OF COURSE they are shooting at us, I'd expect nothing less. When Britain tried to occupy the 13 original American Colonies, we shot at them, and we called ourselves Patriots. It's the same thing, only this time WE are the 'bad' guys.

There are 505 days left of this totalitarian regime. The best thing that Congress can do is the bare minimum to keep this country running, if it can't stop the President. For the next 505 days, they have to stonewall back, order investigations, supeona witnesses -- anything and everything humanly possible to contain this administration. Anything good that they could try would only be vetoed anyway.

We desperately need to take our country back and restore our good name internationally.

Next election, we have got to elect a strong leader, one who can and will undo all the damage these men have done. '43' broke our Constitution and our armed forces, '43' has no experience fixing his mistakes, he has no experience acknowledging his mistakes. That thankless task will fall upon the shoulders of the next President, may God help them.

Although I'm as flummoxed as the next citizen and wondered why Vitter is not as toxic as Craig, I'm not so sure it has as much to do with homophobia versus boys will be boys (not denying that is a strong consideration though).

It seems that Vitter has the somewhat dubious distinction of being in a state with a Democratic governor and, as such, his exile would -most likely- usher in a democrat if he were suitably chastised

Craig, on the other hand, is quite expendable because his state's governor is a Republican and it's a no-brainer (figuratively and literally) that his replacement will be cut from the same cloth.

The Craig - Vitter difference is not about sex or homophobia but the party of the Governor who will appoint the successor. With a quick exit the person who replaces Graig will be pure as new snow (till proven otherwise) and hold the seat as an incumbent.

in Vitter's case the Guv is a Democrat, and that is the main reason he gets a pass.

True story..I live about 2 min from a heavily populated Chinese community. When they first came here they evidently didn't know that some of their cultural practices didn't apply here. I was working for a veterinarian at the time. People started noticing their pets missing. We couldn't help them. Police later discovered trash bins behind restaurants contained trash bags with animal carcasses. This quickly stopped. Non-Chinese residents absolutely freaked..

Ditto in San Francisco about 25 years ago!! It was bad and after several "sting" operations, as more and more people were reporting missing and/or stolen pets, Golden Gate Park was turned out to be “first choice” for these restaurant owners to “collect” their food from, only to later serve it to their patrons - true story also!!

I had nightmares about it too, being so close to the situation..I'm glad our clinic kitties weren't part of the menu.
