Tonight's Special Comment

Tune in at 8p ET for Keith's Special Comment regarding the President's attack of the anti-war movement and Moveon.org.  We have provided an excerpt after the jump.

"...Mr. Bush, you have hidden behind the General's skirts, and today you have hidden behind the skirts of 'the last question' at a news conference, to indicate once again that your presidency has been about the tilted playing field, about no rules for your party in terms of character assassination and changing the fabric of our nation, and no right for your opponents or critics to as much as respond.

That, Sir, is not only unAmerican -- it is dictatorial.

And in pimping General David Petraeus, Sir, in violation of everything this country has been assiduously and vigilantly against for 220 years, you have tried to blur the gleaming radioactive line between the military and the political, and to portray your party as the one associated with the military, and your opponents as the ones somehow antithetical to it.You did it again today, Sir, and you need to know how history will judge the line you just crossed."

NOW we're talking!!

I'm looking forward to KO's return!

Let's have an O.J.-free Countdown!!

Although paraphrased many times, it is more relevant now than ever in our history: "beware the past, lest you repeat it."  Fascism wears the costume of nationalism and feeds from the fears of the ignorant.  Fear is not American.

The ONLY way to "support the troops" is to bring them home alive.

My husband and I went to San Francisco on our honeymoon just over 5 years ago. There was a huge banner on the front of City Lights Bookstore that read "Dissent is Not Un-American!" I can't wait to see this tonight, but don't overdo it! We're all glad you're back, but we don't want you to relapse.
Who is "OJ"?
Keith, i hope you take the time to address the attack on the Gold Star Dad by the hate group gathering of eagles. i have provided a link to the filth this group espouses.

This morning, the Senate didn't pass an exit strategy for Iraq. They didn't pass a bill to cover millions of uninsured Americans or combat the climate crisis. Nope—they condemned 3.4 million Americans for speaking out against the war.

Whether you agree with MoveOn.org or not -- 43 and the vast right wing propaganda machine is attempting to kill yet another 'Right' -- Freedom of Speech.

If you wish to sign a petition, that will be submitted to Congress, you can use the link here.

Fascism is despicable -- and the neo cons are taking us there.
I really don't understand the attacks on MoveOn for challenging General Petraeus.  The line seems to be "how can you do that to a decorated military man".  Does anyone remember a similar attack on a decorated military man, what was his name?  Oh yeah, that Kerry fellow.  How is MoveOn different from the Swift Boat crew?
Thanks Tom.

I have been telling people for seven years that this would happen, but they wouldn't believe me.
Cursed by Comcast and it's eternally failing cable, I'll have to wait to watch your special comment--hit 'em with your best shot!  Welcome back.
Thanks Tom.

I have been telling people for seven years that this would happen, but they wouldn't believe me.
Sane,

Fascism happens. Don't step in it.
Without dissent we wouldn't even be a country.  Our founding fathers didn't think a tax was fair and committed an act of terrorism upon the British that we now refer to as a "tea party".  Democracy doesn't work without dissent.  That's why the right to freespeech is the FIRST amendment.  But if it makes anyone feel any better in the beginning of the  revolutionary war about 60% of colonists were on the side of the British.  It seems even then Americans needed to bang thier heads against a wall for a while before they caught on to a good thing.
Now Keith do be careful tonight. We know how angry you get once you start on Special Comments. Try not to injure yourself.
Tom Prince, Enola, PA (Sent Thursday, September 20, 2007 5:38 PM)

The difference is the Swift boat guys were truthful.  Move-on is just a character assassination group, and ultimately the cowardly Dems who accept their support will regret it.  Most Americans are closer to the center, and are disgusted by far left lunatic fanatics.
Laura,

Good point.  Keith doesn't want to pull a Colbert.  On the other hand (pun intended) he could make some money on eBay! ;}

Scott - truthful?
This is no differant than the swift boat thing.  Except that the target is republican.  Democrates believe free speech is for everyone and will fight for the right of people to say things we consider awful.  Republicans seem to believe free speech is just for the people they agree with and will attack anyone who disagrees with them.  It's a pathetic and desperate move to avoid talking about the fact that they just filibustered the return of Habeaus Corpus and leave for the troops they say they support.
Jen - well put.
jen,il (Sent Thursday, September 20, 2007 5:49 PM)

You do realize that the biggest reason for the American Revolution was not Liberty. It was money. Wealthy Colonists were fed up with paying taxes back to England. They promoted literature and promoted seperation from the mother land. These welthy colonists are now refered to as our founding fathers
If you have any doubt about the plans of PNAC, run a search on "REX 84" (ignore the token Wikipedia entry).  It was the VERY first project Bush 43 refunded (the 84 is from the Reagan years - 1984).  Don't stay up to late.  ;}
Why is it that most Liberals always seem to be paranoid whenever something happens. The belief that states "just because nobody is really out to get me doesn't mean I should not be critical" seems to flow from them continuously. They are quick to attack like pirahna and quick to escape and run like roaches. They require swift justice against those they HATE, and demand censorship when caught in the act.

Can anybody explain this??
Welcome back KO!
Well, obviously, they took out KO's appendix, and not his spleen.
As Sinclair Lewis said "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross."  The Repugnatans have done a fine job of this. I am so glad to have Keith back and calling them on it.
Welcome back Keith...you were sorely missed by this viewer and family.  We love your work!!
The difference is the Swift boat guys were lying about the facts. Move-on has true facts behind the statement in the ad. The one Betrayus line was just an opinion interpreting the facts.
swift boat (v) - 1) To fabricate various forms of media excrement disguised as facts; 2) <CENSORED>; 3) <expletive deleted>; 4) lie; 5) score an exclusive on the Bill O'Reilly Comedy Show.
Nuanced,
Exactly.  MoveOn backs up everything with actual facts - and ones they can verify.  The Swifties fabricated them and refused to provide proof.  Wait, that sounds like FOX.
I told you so hardly seems sufficient.  Closed practice, burned law license.  You're on your own.
M.C. - Wrapped in a flag?  It comes shrink-wrapped from China!
moderator; i assume jo mamma isn't appropriate unless you're dead in iraq in which case jo mamma is in tears.  the dudes in washinton dont think about that.  nuf said

Hi Keith, glad you're back!!  Best Wishes because you have the best show on TV, it's all truth.  The Republicans can't handle the truth.
Everyone needs to read this.  I found this on C&L.
14 Common Aspects of Fascist Governments by Lawrence Britt.  Or you can go to www.secularhumanism.org/library/fi/britt_23_2.htm
please, please, please no OJ. Everytime I see it I will change the channel. it is not impotant in the large schemee of what is going on in the world.
Let us review the facts about the swiftboat veterans shall we?  Dr. Louis Letson, said he treated Kerry's wound and that it was too small to receive a medal.  But Latson didn't sign off as the person administering treatment.  Hmmm, guess he's lying.  Alfred French admitted in an interview with the Portland Oregonian that he had no first hand knowledge of the incident and that his information came from secondhand accounts.  After that several lawyers filed complaints with the Oregon state bar against Mr. French for signing an affidavit about events he knew nothing about.  Oh gosh another liar.  Larry Thurlow signed an affidavit stating Kerry was not under fire.  Yet Thurlow was given a medal for being along side Kerry's boat while they were both under enemy small arms and automatic weapon fire.  So, Larry is a liar.  I have posted this before but I think it needs to be said again, Between Excederin headache #43 and John Kerry, which one volunteered for combat and which one volunteered to bring the eight ball to the kegger party at the frat house while shirking his Air National Guard duties?
Lets not forget the reason were in this war, the lying bush administration, who pulled us into a war based on lies, a patriot act written by traitors, and a country that looks like weve lost control of our own sanity. Rock on President Bush. Rock On.
Oil Boys from Texas and Big Wyo invade a defenseless country to privatize their oil. Oh, No. Say it ain't so Rudy. We have been saying the same thing for five long years before the first shots were fired, do not, do not, do not give the power of our military to two oil boys, you did and now you're up to your eyeballs in Hunt Oil, dead bodies and lying, thieving Oil Boys. Imagine that. One last thing. Saddam had no missile system and every Congressman knew it. He couldn't have delivered a mushroom pizza UPS much less a nuke he didn't have in his dreams. Oil for Hunt Oil and Halliburton moving to Dubai so what do they do, change the subject beating up on MoveOn the truth teller. Judgement Day is comin to Town like a freight train.
Welcome back, Keith. Set 'em straight, and keep 'em honest. Let's hear that Special Comment!
The line he crossed?  So Bush crossed a line by talking about MoveOn?  Wow Keith.  You have a pretty low bar for what "crosses the line".
Hee hee. I'm glad to see when they took his appendix, they left his huge balls.

I'm 15 minutes into the show and Keith is full of piss and vinegar. Ahhh, we missed you man!!  I love Allison, but there is no replacement for Keith.
OJ is innocent!!!
As Sinclair Lewis said "When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag, carrying a cross."  The Repugnatans have done a fine job of this. I am so glad to have Keith back and calling them on it.

You earned another glass of kool aide
President Bush -- "jumped the shark" today.
nuanced wrote: "The one Betrayus line was just an opinion interpreting the facts."

If an insult is nothing more than the expression of an opinion, what does that mean . . . anything goes? Civility has gone out the window forever? This isn't the same thing as what KO does in his "Worst Person in the World" segments (Fixed News, etc.). The use of "Betrayus" (betray us) in a mainstream forum is tantamount to a public accusation that an active military officer is committing treason, and by extension is unpatriotic (if you betray your country it must be because you don't love your country, right?). Questioning the patriotism of war dissenters is something that executive branch members were accused of doing a couple years ago; they were wrong then and MoveOn.org is wrong now. There's no problem with criticizing his testimony (although it might have held more weight if they had waited until after he had actually given it), his facts, or the political motivations behind his conclusions; but, to imply that he was -- or was about to -- commit an act of betrayal (read: treason) against the country he serves . . . sure, they had the right to do it, but they SHOULD NOT have done it. Bad form.

And when did the President say there was, to quote the preview of Keith's comment, "no right for your opponents or critics to as much as respond." I don't see anyone trying to supress the right of anyone else to exercise their freedom of speech or expression. Voicing the opinion that what someone else said was wrong, and that -- as I wrote above -- that someone shouldn't have said it, is not an attempt to deny a right to speak.

I'm a moderate conservative who is against our continued occupation of Iraq. I don't necessarily believe everything Petraeus said in his testimony, but I for one have no intention of calling him a traitor. On 9/11, radio host Darrell Ankarlo lashed out at Dennis Kucinich, bleating that Kucinich had committed an act of treason and should be "tried and executed" for traveling to Syria and meeting with President Assad. That was a wrong thing to do -- to say the least -- and so is what MoveOn.org did . . . it was wrong, even though they both had the right to do it.
First, welcome back, and second, the last complete game no hitter hurled in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by the Pittsburgh Pirates was by John Candelaria on August 9, 1976 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, with the Pirates winning 2-0 on ABC's Monday Night Baseball.
Welcome back Keith. We have missed you. Kill the GOP!!!
What's the matter scott, nv.. If things are going so swimmingly for your party, then why are you constantly acting as the neocon pit-bull on a 'librul' forum?

Don't you crazies ever get tired of slinging wild generalities? No, of course not. Your holier than thou Grand Oil Party is sinking into the mud/muck of its own corruption and filth..no wonder you are getting more and more hysterical.

I will say one thing for the 29 Percenters, they never let the facts get in the way of their made up versions of the 'truth'.

Reminds me of the Borg from Star Trek, The Next Generation. The ReBorgicans have a "Collective" set of beliefs (And Most Importantly), directives and talking points. As a member of the ReBorgican Hive, it is imperative that these uniform beliefs, talking points and directives are disseminated to all ReBorgicans.

Resistance is futile. Once a ReBorgican has been assimilated into The Hive, no amount of rational communication or reasoning, with cold, hard facts will sway a ReBorgican from their Collective Directives, eg. Core Beliefs.

There is still hope for the 70 Percent of rational, thinking Americans, who will not stop dissenting and protesting against the policies of a failed administration, which is quickly turning into an authoritarian regime.

These are scary days, but I have every confidence that the true American Way will prevail, and the Constitution will once again take center stage in our system of governance.

Peace to Us All
Off for six days straight, and you return even more surly than ever.  I like it.
Thank God For Keith! Which phony flack was prepped to ask the question about Preteous. Bush and the Senate are equally weak. Good for Dan Abrams for making the same point. What? We can't dare disagree with a freaking General!!!
Outrageous that this general is to be hidden behind!
Pat Buchanan is such a total out of it loser who is nothing but a flack for Bush and the war.
