ABOUT THE NEWS HOLE

It's the new award-winning blog* from the cast and crew of the award-winning television news hour** "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."

We heard about this whole "blogosphere" business from Tom DeLay, and came to the immediate realization that we too, "needed to become involved" in it.

So here it is. Covering the big news, the small news, medium-sized and irregular, The News Hole strives to bring everything you love or hate about Countdown to the internets.

Your feedback and hate mail is encouraged.

We know most newsholers don't always enjoy the Britney news, but when the politics of a court spokesperson creep into his address to the media, it's our job to bring it to light....(see video here)

Don't worry...we'll still have Sen. Hillary Clinton, Howie Kurtz, and more tonight...just thought you all might enjoy this.

Plus...a few lost oddballs after the jump.

Just when you thought this was the worst home shopping blooper featuring a ladder...

along comes this one...

"We know most newsholers don't enjoy the Britney news" and yet you continue to subject us to her idiocy?  why?  Please stop wasting everyone's time -- and leave the twits off this site.

thank you.
To update this date

would sure be great

it relieves the hate

that we sometime contemplate

once the action to up to date

then and only then can we celebrate

#2 video..CARAMBA! Stay away from ladders..
Welcome back OJ!....
Dear News Hole,

I would like to sincerely thank you for an excellent day of moderating this blog!!

I have complained when it's been bad and I must say thank you for a GREAT day!!

Please come back tomorrow!!

PEACE!!
That Britney video was beyond lame. Short, pointless and stupid. Can I please have that 15 seconds back?
Holy Childrens, Commissioner Gordon.  That's a pretty lame excuse for a Britney segment, but I suppose anything is better than nothing.  Pretty please, can't you find some "political" excuse to get George Clooney or Clive Owens into the celebrity line-up?  I bet you could if you wanted to.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Hillary did not cackle!  Or even laugh!
Oh....by the way....everything she said was BS.

Check MSNBC's candidates + issues matrix to see where you stand compared with other voters.

Great blog Keith, the best in years. Stay on this Britney thing , something you can relate to.
Britney vs. Jasmine Maxwell

I'm sick to tears of hearing about Britney Spears.  Couldn't one of the "haircuts" you have following her around spend a little time understanding the terrible failures of LA County's Child Welfare System, the nation's biggest and worst?  Perhaps you could start with the story of Jasmine Maxwell, a 4 year old who starved to death in a homeless shelter, after having been seen by a County child abuse investigator.  Perhaps you would look back and see that in 2003 the County eliminated its Child Protection Division that was charged with doing these investigations, deciding to save a small amount of money by just piling these investigations on top of the work that Foster Care workers were already doing.  Perhaps you would see that other big child welfare systems, like New York and Illinois, turned themselves around by focusing on quality investigations to protect children.

No, you wont.  I wonder if Britney will go to the nail salon today?
I agree OJ. Leave Britney alone.
Larry (8:44 PM Post): Stay on him Larry. I agree this Britney coverage has gone way too far.
Pam: You may have spoke just a bit too soon in giving the Newshole credit for doing better at updating the blog. The only updates I have seen so far this AM are those on the Britney thread. Larry had a shot at the Britney thread at 8:44 AM, myself at 11: 24 AM, but no other threads have been updated. The moderator must be a Britney fan.
I am a huge Countdown fan and believe that Keith Olbermann is one of the few journalists left with any integrity and the guts to tell the truth. That being said, I feel that wasting our time with Britney baby daddy drama and Lindsey lame lush Lohan is beneath the stature of KO and Countdown. Their presence on your show cheapens your message, Keith.  Can we please get them off of Countdown and over to E! where they can fade into well-earned and well-deserved obscurity?  Keep up the excellent work Mr. Olbermann and hopefully soon you will not be a voice in the wilderness.
Dr. David (1:30 PM Post): I agree Dr. MSNBC, Keith and all other news media need to understand that Britney's own destructive behavior coupled with the constant attention and ridicule she receives from many quarters, including Countdown, will take her very quickly to her grave. I understand she is a celebrity and has placed herself in the limelight, and that she does possess self-destructive behavior. But regardless of how one might feel about Britney no one deserves the help she is receiving to end her own life one day before her time. Even though Britney is a celebrity, an irresponsible one at that, and even though she brings a lot of attention on to herself because of her behavior, if and when this occurs I hope all those who have constantly bombarded this young lady with such attention feel real good about themselves.
C A - Agreed; one good day after two very kind responses from two MSNBC execs and it looks as though the blog's "in the hole" - AGAIN!!

I'm going to fire off some more emails now!!

PEACE FRIEND!!
Something interesting John Dean said when I had the pleasure of attending his book signing on Tuesday.  He said Keith has really no control over the Bimbo stories, my description not Mr. Dean's. He has almost free reign with the first half hour, which we love, but his producers and such want some of the trashy stuff as well. He said Keith hates doing these stories. The people we really should be complaining to are the powers that be who make the decisions of Countdown's content..not Keith. Ideally, his show should feature all political subjects..as well as our favs WPITW and Oddball.
UPDATE PLEEEESE!
Mr. Olbermann

I watch your show every night or, more precisely, I used to until you turned into a shameless shill for the Clinton campaign

I mean really you are about as subtle as a train wreck and nearly as painful to listen to as Lou Dobbs (no I never watch Fox News but if that's your saving grace - save it for O'Reilly)

Enuf already with the Clinton Bums rush.  Her Iran vote, just more of her triangulation of political expediency
Ahhh yes....would that Kieth had full reign on the content of his show. Unfortunately most of the American public eats up the titilating stories of brit, lohan, and paris (purposefully NOT capitalized) Here's my plea to the producers of countdown; Leave brit to self destruct in peace and please please please send that musto character packing!!!
Doesn`t anyone see the fact that we are enabling a
mentally ill person who is in desperate need of help
and our society is promoting this type of behaviour
by watching these people destroy themselves to satisfy
our need for gossip and voyeurism//Shame on all of us
