It's the new award-winning blog* from the cast and crew of the award-winning television news hour** "Countdown with Keith Olbermann."

We heard about this whole "blogosphere" business from Tom DeLay, and came to the immediate realization that we too, "needed to become involved" in it.

So here it is. Covering the big news, the small news, medium-sized and irregular, The News Hole strives to bring everything you love or hate about Countdown to the internets.

Crossing the River

(Yeah, it's the wrong river, we may not bring any muskets when we move, and George Washington was going to N.J., but it still kinda works)

In the immortal words of staff favorite Bruce Springsteen, it was bye bye New Jersey... we were airborne. Countdown and the Newshole prepare to leave the Garden State for good after Friday's show.  We're movin' up to the east side (by east side we mean mid-town Manhattan....either way the beans don't burn on the grill). With our new digs, (building, set, studio, offices) we're going to have a new graphic look for the show. Same Keith, same Countdown...new coat of paint. There are a few sample images after the jump, we hope you tune in Monday to check it out.

Does the money go to all the families of fallen soldiers or just the ones that agree with the war.  In other words, no money for families of fallen "phony soldiers".  Will Rush make all recipients say "major ditto Rush" prior to getting the money?  I think Rush is trying to get on KO's "best person in the world" list.  The day that happens is the day I stop watching Countdown.

Carol -- Depends a lot on your frame of reference.  To me it looks like the lidless eye of Sauron mounted on a stick out in front of the gates of Morannon in Mordor.  I hope they didn't intend to conjure either one of those images.

What a great idea.  Turn a stupid partisan stunt into a charity that will benefit our great military.  That is putting your money where your mouth is.  I don't always agree with Rush, nor do I listen to him, but here he hits a home run.  Anytime our brave kids can benefit, I am all for it.

I keep blanking on the latest W.H. press secretary's name-Dana Perino?  Anyway she reminds of the Peanuts' cartoons when the adults talk in that incomprehensible "waugh waugh waugh".  She gets so flustered and basically responds with "Because we say so."  She does accesorize well though-love her necklaces-wish I could afford bling like that.

Keith . please follow up on the breaking news that Hillary has collected over $300,000 from dishwashers in China Town. Seems to me something fishy is going on and I can't put my finger on it. I don't understand why the dishwashers have such an allegience to Hillary. Am I missing something ???

It's a program that was mandated by Congress to the Justice Dept. to prosicute people who falsify claims of having served in the Armed Forces. ie Jessy McBeth who claimed that he was an Army Ranger who served in Iraq when he had washed out of Basic Training after 44 days. Thereby "Phony Soldiers"

Olbermann would never cover Operation Stolen Valor, as it would a major part to discredit the Smear Job that Media Matters (Olbermann's script writers) did on Rush Limbaugh.

Did you read the letter?  I did.  It politely chastises Limbaugh 'pre-doctored' remarks for what they were.  I thought it was civil.   Only an extremist would consider it a smear.  The really sad part is that someone paid over $2 million for it.  Hopefully they really just wanted all the autographs.

Harry Reid - First you lie about Limbaugh and the phony soldier crap that you new you were taking out of context. Then you get 41 democratic misfits to sign a letter to Rush's boss, Clear Channel, in an attempt to have him fired for something you knew he didn't say and now Limbaugh puts your smearing letter on E-Bay and it sells for over 2 million bucks and Rush matches it so it's 4 million bucks for the education of children of fallen soldiers fund. And I heard you on television saying it was a good thing Rush was doing and you encouraged people to bid on the letter. Mr. Reid, YOU HAVE MADE A BIGGER FOOL OF YOURSELF THAN RUSH DID. You just shot a cannon into the heart of Media Matters, a Hillary backed whacko group who helped you start this whole lying mess. It's this kind of stupidity that proves that you, Hillary and pretty Pelosi have nothing to offer America. This will be one of the main pieces of ammunition the Republicans will use to remain in the White House. When you finally wipe that egg from your face, I'd say an apology is due. LONG overdue.

Obviously, the poor in this country don't pay much in the way of tax money. They pay in the blood of their sons and daughters. During Vietnam, young poor kids in trouble with the law, either went to prison, or went to Vietnam.  Not much has changed. Their options are still those two. Except now it's Iraq. The rich pay their taxes, but not in blood.

I find it odd once losing the soak the Rich argument, Libs,  tries to debunk it by asking irreverent questions which insults those who serve.

I have family in the Service, one who just came home from Iraq, and three kids who plan on signing up out of Highschool.

Of course, Libs, and Olbermann thinks nothing about insulting those who who voluteer to serve, it's a sport to them as to who can get away with the most outlandish insult possible.
