Michael Moore Tonight

Posted: Tuesday, November 06, 2007 3:15 PM by Countdown

Big show on tap for this evening...Keith will interview Michael Moore on the day his 'Sicko' DVD is released, and the day some states vote on their own versions of the S-CHIP children's healthcare plan.

Also, we'll have all the latest on the Mukasey nomination (in case you need a refresher on the stakes we refer you to Keith's special comment from last night), the latest on the new death figures from Iraq that make this year the deadliest for American Troops there, the Rush Limbaugh comments that have everyone talking again, and the news that there's a new planet in another solar system that might be able to sustain life.  Big show...hope you can join us.

WOW!! A brilliant "Special Comment" and now Michael Moore??!! You are spoiling me Keith; as I believe Michael Moore is a genius!!

His analysis pre-Iraq was also dead on!! This should be a great interview!!

KUDOS & PEACE!!
Today
Talking about rush only encourages him.
When are the liberals going to stop bringing these kids (even though she is 18 and should know better) as experts on Global Warning ? Losing our food ? Our homes ? Why , are the igloos melting ? Get real, she was a another joke that backfired. But I will say she made more sense than Al Gore ! Maybe he should relinquish his Nobel Prize to this little Eskimo !
More hot air from the gasbag Limbaugh..oh no. Waiting to see Michael Moore and what he has to say..love astronomy..can't wait for this one..and the death figures from Iraq is just too sad for me.
Larry Charleston, SC (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 3:34 PM)

Why is it that neocons go after children like pit-bulls go after a slab of meat?  Is it because they sense vulnerability?  I wonder if a child survivor of the bridge collapse in Minnesota (which remains mostly forgotten by now) were to petition for money to repair and maintain bridges, would neocons attack and blame this kid for it?

At this rate, all the democrats need to do is trot out an easy target for the republicans to attack like rabid dogs, and when it comes election time, the republican party will have dug itself into such a deep hole that it would never get out of.

Really, what do neocons have against kids?
"The comedian" having his head where the sun don't shine is old news; and, I may be in the minority among most here, but I don't like Michael Moore but will be watching anyway. And, maybe another planet that can sustain life? Hells bells, don't tell anyone where it is, or it'll be FUBARed up, too, in infinite ways!

Once again, tell your senator how you want them to vote on the Mukasey nomination:

http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/
Can I believe my eyes and ears?! Finally, a prime time TV newscaster gutsy enough to come out and call the President and his gang of thugs exactly what they are - hijackers of our country and despoilers of our democracy. Nice work, Keith! I'm so genuinely impressed that I just might start watching your show...especially since you've got Michael Moore on tonight!
Time for a brief lesson in life...

If someone posts a comment that you believe to be incorrect, outrageous, misinformed, or offensive in any way, just ignore it. That's the beauty of internet posting; the effect of an individual's controversial comment only goes as far as you, the reader, let it. The back-and-forth ninnying between the same characters here is a bad feedback loop that just reinforces itself. All the nonsense can dead-end the instant you scroll right past the same irritating characters and simply refuse to respond. It's so obvious and easy.

That's the last you'll hear from me about this. I refuse to become part of the problem.
Wow - Michael Moore!  Another don't miss show.  And a report on the Kucinich impeachment resolution would be good too (voting is going on now).

I've been busy with a friend's sick dog (metastatic cancer, poor baby) so I'm behind in my news and therefore have no links to share.
For you people who actually listen to what comes out of Keith Olberman's mouth, I have a question....What mind altering drugs do you all take?  He doesn't know Jack about what he talks about. Mark, AZ (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 3:47 PM)

Mark -- If you’re saying that you don’t “actually listen to what comes out of Mr. Olbermann’s mouth” (he forgives you for spelling his name wrong), then how do you know he “doesn’t know Jack about what he talks about”?

In fact, how do you know what he talks about?

And if you’re saying you do listen to Mr. Olbermann, then what’s your point?  Are you saying you take mind-altering drugs, too?  Because that would explain a lot.
It's so obvious and easy.
James, NYC, NY (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:24 PM)

I agree with you James; however it is NOT always easy!! Have your children been called "terrorists", "rag heads", part of the "Nard terror training camp in San Pedro", etc. because they are half Arab and these people do not like what I say?  If not, perhaps that's why while obvious, it is certainly not easy!! It's also probably difficult for you to understand if you have not walked in the shoes as I have here!!

As a mother, it was impossible for me for a long time!! I agree with what you say; however, again, it is NOT easy!! I’ve gotten better with the help of C A, Sue, B A, Independent (no longer blogging here), L T, Carol, Steve Turner; M K; mad in madtown, nuanced, Laura, Jamie and others.

PEACE!!
Your pathetic rants of lunacy never cease to amaze me. Whats your problem? Maybe because O Reilly is kicking your pathetic butt in the ratings. You are nothing but a water carrier for media matters and if you had a spine you will post this
Smash the Islamofascists (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 3:36 PM)

Nice try, Mr. Molinero.  It was almost a challenge for my pea-sized liberal brain to figure out who you were.

But I guess we've established that Countdown does have a spine after all -- to go with HIS well-developed brain.

I think maybe you've been riding your horse too much on uneven ground.  YOUR brain seems just a bit askew today.
Sue, West Allis, Wisconsin (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:26 PM)

Will you update me on the Kucinich vote as soon as you can?

PEACE!!
The state of emergency in Pakistan signals yet another low point in President George W. Bush's foreign policy—a stark demonstration of his paltry influence and his bankrupt principles. More than that, the crackdown locks us in a crisis—a potentially dangerous dynamic—from which there appears to be no escape route.

This has got to end. their has to be an ultimatum on the part of the US. Like how Reagan forced Marcos out of power in the Philippines in the 1980's( at that time a key US allie against Communism). Bush has to address the problem with Pakistan in the same way. Simply cut off all forighn aid to Pakistan until the nation restores democracy. Their will be fall out I'm sure, but it has to be done

Phony True – A metaphor!  Wow.  (Personification, to be specific.)  Looks like you’ve picked up an advanced liberal trick.

What “mind-altering drugs” have YOU been taking?
"Why , are the igloos melting ?"

Nice racist comment there, Larry.
I don't think Michale Moore is the right guest for Keith and Countdown right now. Just my opinion. I won't go into a long explanation why at this time. But I am curious....

junebug & Kevin, NJ: what are your impressions of Michael Moore?
Sue, West Allis, Wisconsin (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:26 PM)

PEACE!!
Pam Bignardi, San Pedro, California (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:45 PM)

They tried to table (kill) the resolution - that failed.  Then they voted to send it to the Judiciary Committee where it can die while sitting next to the other impeachment bill that Dennis Kucinich submitted using regular channels.  Kucinich wanted a vote!  On the resolution.

Write your representatives or John Conyers - chairman of the House Judiciary Committee to demand action on the resolution.
small caps scott, doth protest too much, methinks  ek mpls mn (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 2:01 PM)

No, ek, he’s just getting paid too much to care what we think about him.  After all, he told us that the government and pathetic liberals like me want to take away his “wealth.”

Trolling must pay pretty well.  I need to look into that.  I could probably do better than I’m currently doing with my scratch-off lottery tickets and bingo night down by the river.

But it’s always good to hear a little Shakespeare, correctly quoted.  Too rare.  Thanks for the treat.
I wonder if a child survivor of the bridge collapse in Minnesota (which remains mostly forgotten by now) were to petition for money to repair and maintain bridges, would neocons attack and blame this kid for it?
Kevin, Lincoln, NE (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:03 PM)

The short answer is yes -- the neocon nutjobs are blaming the victims. Bridges do collapse, you know.
Pam- The Kucinich bill is going to the judicairy commitee where it will be debated.  John Conyers is the head of the commitee, he like Henry Waxman, spent the 6 yrs of republican rule actually collecting information on the crimes of this administration.  Republicans voted not to kill the bill, probably thinking they can use the impeachment hearing to paint democrates as petty.  I'm unclear on how standing up for the constitution is petty.
Krista - You don't have to like Micheal Moore to like that he turns republicans into red faced, spittling idiots.
And then we have these two fine "gems" by President Stupid!!

"To those of you who received honors, awards, and distinctions, I say, well done. And to the C students, I say, you, too, can be president of the United States." (I guess he knows!!)
- George W. Bush

"Every nation in every region now has a decision to make: either you are with us or you are with the terrorists." (Terrorize the world; one bomb at a time!!)
- George W. Bush

Again, may the world forgive us!!

PEACE!!

UPDATE REQUIRED
If someone posts a comment that you believe to be incorrect, outrageous, misinformed, or offensive in any way, just ignore it. That's the beauty of internet posting; the effect of an individual's controversial comment only goes as far as you, the reader, let it.  James, NYC, NY (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 4:24 PM)

James – With all due respect, that philosophy may work well for you, and bless you for your self-restraint.  But consistent with my own personality and my current, more defiant philosophy, those are exactly the comments I LIKE to respond to.  It’s my personal version of letting a controversial comment go as far as I let it, but with a different approach to controlling how far that is.  I often find that the sender goes away after a brief encounter with me.  Either that, or we eventually reach some kind of peaceful co-existence.  I consider the latter folks to be my friends, whether I agree with them politically or not.

Of course, following my own agenda sometimes makes my experience on this blog kind of lonely, but I don’t really mind that.  I’m afraid I really am an anomaly (or linoleum, or whatever).

Forgive me if, in following my own star, I sometimes subject you to things you may not want to read.  Just follow your star, and skip them.

Larry, do you get your "news" from Rush?????  Now I know why your posts are so ridiculous.  Do you not know how much that man lies?  It's easy to check his lies.

Oh, and lay off the kids.  It only makes you look weak and small.  Weak people usually attack those they perceive to be weaker.  They think it makes them look stronger.
Way to go Keith having Michael Moore on.  Whne he was looking for peopleto do his"SickO'movie I almost submitted my story but even so many many years later it would have been too painful to to tell it even if not picked.Short version, my younger son died  several years ago of CNS lymphoma stage 4 of brain and abdomen. He died three months after he was diagnosed. I had what I thought was great insurance. Then after Ryan passed away I startd getting the bills the insurance would not cover.I harldy had time to grieve the passing of my son (I have an older son in his twenties who has a three year old son named Ryan). I set up payment plans where I could, maxed out all my credit cars, moved to a smaller rental apartment, worked two jobs. It took me a couple of years but I finally paid the hopstial and the doctors off.

We need S-CHIP!
Although I believe Michael Moore goes a little over the top in his criticisms of the gun culture (Bowling for Columbine), the Iraq War and the Bush administration's dishonesty (Farenheit 911), and health care (Sicko), I derive a great deal of satisfaction in the great degree of discomfort he gives to neocons and other uninformed people. Want proof? Just look at the ignorant rants from Larry (Charleston, SC) and Mark (AZ).

Also, Sue & jen, thanks for the Kucinich update!! We CAN hope!!

PEACE!!
I see that the rabid NeoFascists are frothing at the mouth again, because Mr. Olbermann had the courage to tell the truth about Dubya and his criminal administration. I also see what a bang-up job Dubya has done for Pakistan..pun intended. Thanks Condi, Heckuva job!

What has this administration touched that hasn't resulted in disaster? 24% of our citizens apparently fail to understand how BAD it is that millions around the globe hate us. It was bad enough when the Repugnican GOP'rs tried to legislate morality for all Americans; trying to force Democracy on people whose culture we don't understand, when America is barely a Democracy itself any longer.. Heckuv an idea NeoCONs! What has it gotten us? Trillions in debt, thousands of dead and wounded soldiers, thousands of dead and mangled civilians, an entire country's infrastructure decimated, and the hatred of most of the world.

Please stay home and watch your John Wayne movies on election day Neocons. You've done enough, really. Keep bashing Clinton, because you have nothing with which to defend the depraved bunch of lunatics you elected, who are running this great country into the ground. I don't understand your concept of patriotism and the American Way..and I don't want to. It is time for those of us who have a national conscience, real morality and a sense of right and wrong (for more than just the chosen few), to take our country back.
Maybe I'm old fasion, but honestlty, if somebody was to ask me about a month ago if i thought waterboarding was considered torture, I would have assumed that you were talking about surf boarding.
FOURTH ATTEMPT TO POST - THIS WAS PRIOR TO PRESIDENT STUPID'S QUOTES - I'LL SPLIT IT UP!!

Quotes - Part I

Some spot on quotes from three brave and honorable presidents!! None of these men would have or does condone torture, none of these fine men would have even considered it!! None of these men would have trampled upon our Constitution, none of them did!!

Carol – the last one’s for you!!

“In the field of world policy I would dedicate this nation to the policy of the good neighbor.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt

“Our Constitution is so simple and practical that it is possible always to meet extraordinary needs by changes in emphasis and arrangement without loss of essential form.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt

“The United States Constitution has proved itself the most marvelously elastic compilation of rules of government ever written.”
– Franklin D. Roosevelt

Quotes - Part II
“The atom bomb was no great decision. It was merely another powerful weapon in the arsenal of righteousness.”
– Harry Truman

“I would rather have peace in the world than be President.”
– Harry Truman

“History teaches perhaps few lessons. But surely one such lesson learned by the world at great cost is that aggression unopposed becomes a dangerous disease.”
– Jimmy Carter

“War may sometimes be a necessary evil. But no matter how necessary, it is always an evil, never a good. We will not learn how to live together in peace by killing each other's children.”
– Jimmy Carter

“Let us never negotiate out of fear, but let us never fear to negotiate.”
– John F. Kennedy

“Domestic policy can only defeat us; foreign policy can kill us.”

Thanks so much for your excellent Special Comment!
You're right on the mark, and have never spoken truer words!  I can only hope and wait with relish, picturing GWBush and Dick Cheney in jail, convicted for their crimes.  Not that I believe it'll really happen, but, at least I can hope.  And know that there are others out there that PUBLICLY tell it like it is.
Thanks again.

A young woman weeps over the fact she is losing her native land and Limpbomb has a hissy fit?  Not surprising given the extrordinary amount of courage shown in the past from this call screening drug addled draft dodging liar.  Yeah, these big old tough conservatives are gonna keep ya safe.  Scared of an Eskimo, scared of three little girls called the Dixie Chicks, scared of the world so badly the veep needs a body safe....
Well said, Kevin from Lincoln.  Although the neocons pretend to be pro-life, their love for the fetus ends when it becomes a baby.  It's all downhill from there.  When a child expresses an opinion they don't like, they'll come after the kid, along with the family (Graeme Frost).  I guess it's insecurity.  They can't express themselves well enough to debate adults, so they attack our kids.  What a shame.
Michael Moore always hits the nail on the head when it comes to our domestic woes. Let's hope people sit up and listen when it comes to fixing our health care system! GO BUY THE DVD OF SICKO AND TELL ALL YOUR FRIENDS!
Pam Bignardi, San Pedro, California (Sent Tuesday, November 06, 2007 6:38 PM)

Thank you Pam,

Unfortunately there were millions of ignorant voters during the 2000 and 2004 election.  I don't understand why so many people view "gay marriage" or "pro life" as a good reason to vote against the "smartest" candidate and for the "fear mongering" moron.

I sincerely doubt that we would have invaded Iraq on Al Gore's watch or that we would be threatening Iran on John Kerry's watch.

I sincerely doubt that the Consumer Safety Agency would be refusing to do it's job, the same goes for the EPA.

I sincerely doubt that a Democratic President would have borrowed us into debt to make Bush/Cheney and their homies even richer than they already are.

I've never understood willful ignorance.

I've never understood people who hate, or who are more concerned with "keeping their money" at the expense of children's health. It's not as if they can take their money with them into the afterlife.

I've never understood people who attack those who are weaker -- i.e. cowardly bullies.

I hope that I never do.
I'll be there tonight with bells and everything else on. Even if this country is going to hell in a handbasket, thank goodness that at least we have Keith on board to ring the stops.
Rachel Maddow will be on discussing the Kucinich Impeachment Resolution.  Pressure needs to be put on John Conyers - the Judiciary Committee Chairman.  Yeah, he's a good guy, but he's already got an impeachment bill in his committee that's NOT being dealt with.

These are WAR CRIMINALS that deserve rights, as do all those they deny rights to.  We, the citizens, deserve and demand accountability for what they have done in our name.
Okay Michael I'm on your mailing list for awhile and at the Capital In Sacramento I know you know the work on health care by Carolyn Negrete, and Senator Kuell's health care legislation. Here is one of my takes on this problem.HMO's have been on a hidden agenda genocide of elderly seniors for cost effectiveness and to take out some Social Security Medicare folks costing their the systems as well. We know as well what they do with younger patients. Murder for Economics. The middle man job without the KY
Watch that glove!Senator Moscone carried Legislation In California in 1973 that would have provided Health Care for everyone here who wanted it. I believe the bill was S.B. 772 or something like that. Progressive and fair. No real HMO's back then. Here is where it got it interesting the Bill was going to allow every one in CA to health coverage on a graduated basis by franchise tax proportionate to their income. The fat cats weren't going to get a bye either as I recall. The private companies could still insure. So what killed that,Hmm the AMA,and Insurance lobbies. One of the big reasons the Fat Cat Doctors were going to have to treat all patients equal as far as access.Rich or poor.Have fun tonight meanwhile these guys are killing us "Smalls"
Sorry about this Steve I scagged for a moment.
