Countdown Friday: Sex on the City

Posted: Sunday, December 02, 2007 1:52 PM by Countdown
Filed Under:

Sex on the City:  Our fifth story on the Countdown Sex On The City. The good news: a long-time friend, a man once seen as joined to Rudy Giuliani's hip, has rushed to Giuliani's aide. The bad news: the long-time friend is disgraced and 16-times-indighted ex-New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik. Then again, if the subject is using public facilities to enable elicit liaisons with mistresses on the taxpayer's dime... Mr. Kerik knows his subject matter.

War Mangling:   Did Jack Murtha say "The Surge is working.” Finis. End Communication? Or did he say "The surge is working militarily, but not politically, and the Iraqis have to do it for themselves"? The lunatic fringe gets into another lather, hearing only what it wants to hear.

ODDBALL: Some pimped out bikes, remember when people just used to put baseball cards in the spokes? A boy and his pet Alligator, and you thought the tree was nice you should see the holiday hairdos.

Truthless People: From the president who promised to restore honor and dignity to the White House today we get not one, not two, but three examples of current and former top officials trafficking in dishonesty in some cases, rewarding it, and treating it, literally, like a joke. In our third story tonight, lies and consequences.

Tabs: Julia Roberts goes after the paparazzi, and farewell to Robert "Evel" Knievel.

WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD: Billo, Fox Business anonymous spokesperson, Steven Galson and Santa all battle for Worst Person Honors.

Bill O'Reilly's very useful advice for young people:Our number one story on the Countdown: when the Village Voice printed two pages worth of "Bill O'Reilly's very useful advice for young people, as channeled by vile left-wing smear merchant Tom Tomorrow.” We thought you kiddies at home might enjoy it if Billo himself read you about half of it.

Between Giuliani’s corruption and Romney’s flip-flopping, no wonder former Governor Mike Huckabee’s pulled ahead in the Iowa polls!! This is going to be fun to watch --Rudy’s going down and Romney can cancel his plans to redecorate the White House!!

The GOP line-up has spiraled faster than I thought it would; my favorite word today --KARMA!!

PEACE!!

Pam Bignardi, San Pedro, California (Sent Sunday, December 02, 2007 5:30 PM)

Pam the country is speaking and do not want a President with alot of baggage.  That is why both Rudy, Mitt, and Hillary are dropping in the polls.  They don't want the old political machines.  Hillary's coverups, bobbing and weaving, and just plain avoidance of answering questions has worn on the American public.

I don't know whether Huckabee has the horsepower ($) to win the rep nomination, but it certainly would be an interesting contrast if it was Huckabee vs. Obama.  I see on this site, that anti Huckabee rants have started.  If this ends up being about the issues.  You can compare and contrast the candidates, understand their respective positions, and make an intelligent decision.  I would also say that this race would not be as negative as previous elections.
#5 - I'm still hung up on media coverage of Giuliani's Qatar business dealings vs. the tryst fund. I'll concede that both stories need attention. Arguably, the difference in significance has to do with their impact going forward. The tryst fund is something that's already happened; the business interests are ongoing. Oddly, though, it's the tryst fund story that keeps generating new details.

#4 - Even militarily, the surge is not the whole ball game. Had Murtha not bothered to mention the political failures, it would still be wrong to take his remarks as supportive of the war as a whole.

#3 - I'm pretty sure the first time Countdown played the Rove interview clip that my WHAT?! violated a local noise ordinance. Rove did say he was going to write about the Democrats' rush to war in a book. I expect it will be in the fantasy section. If he keeps changing his story, he should consider the "choose your own adventure" format.

#2 - Evel Knievel. That, kids, is entertainment.

WPitW - What's so remarkable about having ALF on with Billo? Isn't FOX News already overrun with puppets?

#1 - The segment was educational. I learned that, even though they call it a coffee table, you're not supposed to spit your coffee on it.

And thanks for mentioning Hitchcock's Saboteur when Norman Lloyd was on the show. Watched it this weekend. In particular, the scene with Vaughan Glaser as the blind man was amazing.
Hey Pammie , I'm back after a nice weekend , reading your post and see you must be so afraid of Rudy. Let's face one thing from the beginning _ You are stuck with Hillary. Barry Huessein Obama can't stop the machine. Barry's cocaine problem doesn't help either. Now, catching up on all of the weekend news confoirms what I already stated , you and Bill Clinton are liars.Even the most liberal commentators confirmed that he backed Bush and was For the war. Therefore, both of you are FOS.
Secondly, since Bill was out sexually abusing Gennifer Flowers, Paula Jones, Kathleen Willy, Monica Lewinski , and many others - Was it Hillary that came up with Don't Ask Don't tell? Is she for it now? And what about her early years when she worked for a law firm associated with the Communist? Please check these out and get back to me. And was Web Hubble ever incarcerated? The answer -YES. Criminals seem to gather around the Clinton's also. Check out friends of Bill and search for criminal records , it will be interesting to see. My point is, sexually and criminally, Rudy has nothing on the Clintons!
08 is going to be fun!!
Chris Collinsworth has driven me batty from day 1 of FNIA. I loved it at halftime, though, when he was sitting all by his lonesome in the "Bengals bar" while "the Bus" got a rousing welcome in the Steelers bar!

This has gone too far, posting the phone number of random people you think is me.  Jeeeze, I wouldn’t be surprised if some of you idiots made harassing or threatening phone calls to the guy.  I can’t be a party to this – the possible harming of someone who is in no way involved.  I am taking Scott Henderson off line.

Don’t be too sad however, I can resurrect him at any time and anyway a new virtual character has been created and will be ready to go on line at several conservative blogs in a couple of days.  I am sure she will be quite popular, just like scott was here.  Ta ta…
Before you nominate an ordained minister for America's top job -- consider this article.  Texas fired a teacher who wanted to teach science only in science classes.  Any wonder why we are losing our competitive edge?

Official Leaves Post as Texas Prepares to Debate Science Education Standards
By RALPH BLUMENTHAL
The Texas Education Agency's director of science was dismissed for refusing to remain neutral about whether to teach evolution or creationism.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/03/us/03evolution.html?th&emc=th

"Creationism" or "Intelligent Design", a religious myth, should be taught at home or in Church on Sunday.  Evolution, a scientific theory, should be taught in school.  All religions have myths which explain their view of world origin, none of them rise above fable status with regards to accuracy.  This is ridiculous.

And we are counting down.
Well, Larry Craig is at it again. Apparently, eight other men have "come" forward to say they have had relations with Larry, including Ted Haggard's former paramour/meth connection. Larry sure has a full dance card. At this rate, Larry is going to be the Grand Marshal at the gay pride parade in San Francisco. Will the GOP theme song at next years convention be "YMCA"? Will KD Lang sing the national anthem? Will the GOP change their symbol from the elephant to the fruit fly? Enquiring minds want to know!!!
Saw Sunday Night Football (Steelers & Bengals) and of course Olbermann did his stint giving the scores of the afternoon games and running down some plays.

The problem is when an obvious left-wingnut liberal continually slams Bush, O'Reilly, Beck and others like them on his own show (Countdown), a large part of the country has NO INTEREST WHATSOEVER in seeing him smackdown the scores on NBC's Sunday Night Game.

It's like seeing Billo doing the game. Many people wouldn't like it and would voice their opinion just like me and others do when we see KO doing it.

I know Olbermann is part of NBC television's two-bit network attack, by far the lowest rated (behind ABC and CBS), with his MSNBC cable gaffe.

KO is better suited for the Sportcenter type stuff instead of trying to immitate O'Reilly, Hannity, Limbaugh and Beck, and trying it left-handed at that.

Keep the game of football out of politics and controversial talk show hosts out of NFL games.
Period.
Wecome back Mr. Don Imus (the I-Man) to his weekly radio show 6-10 AM on WABC. Hopefully he will NOT have anyone on his show who threw darts at him, especially AFTER he apologized to the Rutgers women's basketball team for disparaging remarks made about them. And hopefully a TV cable station will pick up an hour or two of his broadcast in the mornings. He was the best thing MSNBC ever had but they caved to Sharpton and Jackson's intimidation.
Looks like Mike Huckabee is a strong possibility for Rep. presidential nominee at this time. Hillary slips and Obama is currently on top in the DEMO race.
Since GWB's reign will be over DON'T count out another Republican victory in 2008.
To who ever updated this blog over the weekend, and this morning.Thank you.Must have been the "Update Fairy."That's right folks thank you.I know C.A. understands what those words mean. So thank you.
Thank You Countdown for Billo piece by Tom Tomorrow!
He really hits the nail on the head doesn't he ?
I've tried to tell fellow bloggers about him from time to time. Thanx for expanding Tom's audience.
Truthless People that sums up the Republican party very nicely Countdown. Condi Rice is an absolute disgrace who should be perp walked onto the nxt plane to The Hague along with Bush, Cheney, Dumsfeld oops Rumsfeld, et al.
The right wing is generally opposed to affirmative action in this country and Condi gives them all the ammo they need.

You must be a Bob & Tom fan. Since your from Indianapolis you get to sample the real deal. We used to have them on a strong station out of West Palm Beach but Clear Channel, in their infinite wisdom, put them on a station who's signal you can't pick up unless your sitting in their parking lot. Are the grannies kicking Chick's butt on the football picks again this year?
CA and Anomaly: No offense meant but I don't think Al Gore is going to get in the race. I think he would have by now if he wanted to be a candidate. Why should he want to run anyway? Right now life is good for Al Gore and why would he want to mess it up by running for office?
CA about religion vs. spirituality.I am aware that not all religious people are spiritual and vice versa.
Spirituality does seem to be the glue that holds societies together. My problem is with the Zealots of any stripe. Especially those who try to tell others how to live, and, think, based on a collection of ancient history and myths (aka born agains).
As one who "used to be Irish Catholic. Now I'm an American" I find the current crop of evangelicals to be quite scary.

News Hole, this is horrible!! 9:30AM my time, 12:30PM back east and NO update since last night. That was after the Friday thread was down for two days and the first update came Sunday afternoon PST?

Please, get the moderator act together, this is getting old!!
Anomaly (3:23 pm Post):

Regarding Huckbee, perhaps it is all there in the eyes, but the anti-Christ? Don't think scripture indicates that the anti-Christ will come from Arkansas. Besides, although a matter of interpretation, near the end, there is little mention in scripture of the US playing any kind of major role. Perhaps Bush has laid the foundation and will now be followed by future self-serving inadequate leaders whose lack of leadership will bring about the demise of the US as a world power before the beginning of the end. And perhaps this is just the beginning of the end for the US. I suppose that would kind of, sort of, make Bush and those who follow like little mini-anti Christ representatives.

Note how the recent polls in Iowa have the candidates in a close race (on both sides). Iowans are just a reflection of what the rest of the country feels. Don't know who they want as President because there is no one they really do want. They are trying to once again decide between the lesser of two, three, four, five, etc evils.

Regarding unconditional love. Yep, know what it means.
KO, PLEASE BRING BACK PUPPET THEATER WITH GIULIANI STARRING AS THE EVIL COUNT ORLOV!
UPDATE THE BLOG
SEX ON THE CITY ?  How about sex on the United States of America ! Who do you think pays for all of the security for the President. From his days in Arkansas, State troopers, Secret Service agents have taken part in Bill C's sexual escapades , with Hillary's knowledge. See the Paula Jones lawsuit and the Impeachment Articles. That being said , I agree with your complete investigations of the presidential candidates. It just becomes so obvious, Countdown when a so called news program like you claim to be only investigates one party. I feel sure if you investigate Hillary or Barry you will find some good stuff! LOL  Let's bring it all out and let the voters decide. Don't cover one particular party.
Immortal Cougar (Sent Sunday, December 02, 2007 2:45 PM)

President Johnson once sent the Secret Service to walk his dog. It had just rained, so the Agent walked the dog, as ordered, but didn't clean off the dog.
Mud got tracked all over Johnson's Texas Ranch, and he never ordered the Secret Service to walk his dog again.

BTW there were many, many areas in Wisconsin that couldn't get the game - including the Governor of Wisconsin who had to travel to his son's house to see it.  Dish, NFL, and cable need to get their act together.

HEY NEWS HOLE!..I submitted a post for Friday's thread twice. Once Sunday, again this morning..IT'S MISSING! FIND IT PLEASE! I don't want to have to try a 3rd time..well, maybe the third time will be a charm. OK, try and find it anyway.

David Molinero (Sent Monday, December 03, 2007 2:38 AM) Hi. I just thought it was funny; I think "the big head" is a blow-hard (always have even before he joined FAUX News), but I don't always agree with everything Keith says. Silly me...I listen to and pay attention to lots of sources and make up my own mind.
C A 8:52 AM..Good Morgan to you too C A as one of my all time favorite DJs in town used to say. His name was Robert W. Morgan. Weekend was good. We finally got a good measurable rain..more end of week.  Hope this week is a good one for all.
After Friday night, the blog shut down!! At approximately 3:00PM eastern time today, the blog was finally updated, after nearly 24 hours!!

Perhaps if we all begin posting comments that relate to the thread, with the exception of a "late breaking" story, etc., the moderators will take us more seriously also!! Just my two cents, but I have seen this blog deteriorate and I believe it has happened, in part, as a result of the foolishness, attacks and outright stupidity posted by some!!

I don’t wish to offend anyone but I am going to state my opinion with regards to the blog of late!! I don't really care what color Keith's eyes are; I care about discussing relevant political topics that are critical to our country's future.  Sadly, what was once an incredibly brilliant blog, with just enough levity, has become consumed with off the wall topics, hate-filled rants and bigoted comments that have absolutely nothing to do with "TODAY", let alone the topic of the thread!!

As I stated, my goal is not to offend anyone; however, I think many here, myself included, need to take this blog more seriously!! I want to say THANK YOU to the people that consistently have –you know who you are!! This blog is not the place to discuss fairy tales or Harry Potter.  I’m sure there are blogs for that. I will do my best to rectify my behavior by ignoring those who shall not be named also.

PEACE ALL!!

All, for some reason, "The Moderator" (Larry's Mom?) refuses to post my response to Larry's rather derogatory comments towards veterans who disagree with his POV. They've got my email address, and my response to Larry has been ignored/rejected for several days now despite several postings. Anyone else suffering from this kind of treatment or is it just veterans "The Moderator" doesn't like?
David Molinero (Sent Monday, December 03, 2007 1:23 AM)

With all due respect David, I disagree; also, the "story" has not been debunked by democrats, not all!! I do thank you for your civility!!

I also suggest you try to get a copy of "Cover-Up"; it's a great documentary.  It covers the hostage crisis and Iran-Contra.  I own a copy, it's wonderful and perhaps your views will change!!

Regarding Lou Dobbs, he’s a bigot who has target one border, the Mexican border.  He has targeted one race, the Mexican race.  There are millions of undocumented workers in this country from other parts of the world.  Lou Dobbs has not only singled out the Mexican population, he has exploited them for personal financial gain!! He’s a disgrace in my opinion!!

PEACE!!
Bill Rochester (11:42 AM Post):

I understand Bill.

Frankly, and pardon if I offend anyone, but I find not only zealots but all orgainzed religion scary. There is not one Bill that does not to a degree try and tell people how to live. And many if not most use man-made rules to do so. Spirituality on the other hand simply means that one acknowledges there is something greater then themselves and that once having learned this that person does not require man made rules or organized religion to lead a harmonious and peaceful life. There is not necessarily a name to that greater being or entity. It could be a God or some other source that provides the person with that  sense of peace and serenity. But whatever one calls it (if one even applies a name to it and some do  not) a truly spiritual person is one who will try to practice humility and love towards others, to share the same, and to be an example of that which is greater then themselves. I mean, what else is needed among us all? It is easy to spot those who do not have spirituality, even among those who might be firmly committed to their religion.
Anomaly,
Please don't quit your day job. I'll beg if I have to.
David Molinero (Sent Monday, December 03, 2007 1:24 AM) . . . before you get your undies in a twist, you need to read the case and you might try reading this Harvard Law Review article.  Clinton had NOTHING to do with this program, it was a program instituted by the County of San Diego designed to prevent welfare fraud (as a direct response to the Reagan era crackdown on welfare fraud) and the people who were the "victims" of warrantless inspections signed documents acknowledging that their homes could be inspected without warrants . . . they waived their rights in order to obtain welfare funds.  Just because the case occurred during Clinton's presidency doesn't mean he had anything to do with it.

Look up San Diego County's "Project 100%."

(you might also consider getting a better source on news than Rush . . . he's a known liar and drug addict.)

If you are voting for the Republican party because you are against abortion or against homosexuality, then you are exactly the kind of ignorant voter the Republican Party likes.

When your good paying job is outsourced and your pension fund has declared bankruptcy and social security and medicare have been completely gutted, maybe just maybe you'll understand that being "pro-life" and "anti-gay" are very stupid reasons to vote Republican.

Any one who votes Republican in the next election -- who is not making more than $200k/year -- is a fool.  The Republican party has set out to systematically destroy the middle class and weaken the agencies that protect regular folks from the abuses of big business.  It started with Saint Ronald Reagan and his union busting and continues to this day.

It's going to take a long time for the middle class to recover, IF they ever can.  The backers of the Republican Party are laughing at you as they merrily count all their money.
Larry Charleston, SC (Sent Monday, December 03, 2007 1:55 PM)

Larry, Larry, Larry . . . you really need to get up to speed . . . The Arkansas State Trooper story?  A lie . . .Paula Jones' lawsuit?  Dismissed in response to a summary judgment motion because it lacked merit . . . it was settled on appeal for defense costs . . . you really don't know what the hell you're talking about, Larry, and neither do your "sources."
Kevin of NJ (Sent Monday, December 03, 2007 9:02 AM)

My opinion of Huckabee, nice guy --really bad ideas!! He doesn't stand a chance in the general election; after what will then be eight years of George W. Bush merging Church & State, there is NO way the majority of this country will even look at him!! He may have a chance for the GOP nomination, as the evangelical Christians have hi-jacked the Republican Party; however, he stands ZERO chance in a general election.

Also, I stated Mitt and Rudy's pasts have caught up with them, I knew they would --I have stated it here many times.  As far as Clinton, she has not dropped as much as Mitt or Rudy and I also believe she dropped based on that one awful debate performance.  I believe she'll bounce back; and NO, I DO NOT support her, I am just looking at things realistically.  I will vote for her if she gets the democratic nomination though; she's better than any GOP candidate running!!

PEACE!!
Larry, speaking of "FOS", you're the pot calling the kettle black. Bill Clinton never "sexually abused" anyone. Gennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky were consensual affairs, Paula Jones was allegedly sexually harrassed but the case was settled out of court with no admission of wrongdoing, and the Kathleeen Willey allegations were untrue. Where are the "many others" you refer to? Bill Clinton may not be a saint but when it comes to leading the country I'll take him any day of the week and twice on Sunday over Bush or any of the GOP bozos making their pathetic attempts to succeed him.

Whether it's Hillary or Barack or John Edwards, you'd better get used to it Larry. A Democrat will be in the White House starting in January 2009. And I for one will get a chuckle out of hearing you neocons whine about how you lost the White Hosue and BOTH houses of Congress, as well as the inevitable investigations and prosecutions that will uncover a virtual plethora of high crimes and misdemeanors committed against the American people by the Bush/Cheney regime.
David Molinero 2:38 AM..David, the comics are fun. Meant for entertainment..you do know what that means don't you? Loosen up a little and don't take life so seriously.

and your repeated comment about Billo inviting guests with opposing points of view and when was the last Keith had someone with opposite views as well. Perhaps it's a question you should take up with Keith. Write him a letter. Tell him your feelings and how you'd like to see he and guests with opposing views kick around the issues.

One more question while I'm here..you keep mentioning Americans or other people getting killed in the border towns. Since I don't watch Glenn Beck, he's gotten a little too crazy for me lately, please enlighten me as to which area on the border this is all taking place and where I can find some information on the subject to clarify my curiousity about what you speak of. To tell you the truth, I haven't heard any such thing taking place. I know there have been robberies taking place after the car races in Mexico, but they think it's the police themselves committing these crimes.

C A -- It’s a good thing I have you to look out for me; otherwise, who knows what stupid things I would say.  (All right, all right, everyone already knows.)  Anyway, you’re right.  Maybe “anti-Christ” is a little strong, but I took a survey over the weekend, and a couple of my friends agreed that Governor Huckabee feels a little “off” to them as well.  Of course, I do hang with peacey-lovey liberals, so that probably explains a lot.

Having given up scripture for the most part shortly after graduating from high school (except when necessary to pluck a good line for a funeral or a wedding or a blog), I know I haven’t read it anywhere near as closely as you probably have, C A.  But I do suspect a few republicans think the LAST president who was also a governor from Arkansas was (and is) the anti-Christ.  At least judging from their unwillingness to let go of their hatred for him (transferred now to his wife).

All kidding aside, I don’t know what it is about Huckabee that sets my teeth on edge.  I suppose it’s the fear of the zealot I mentioned earlier, and that Bill from Rochester picked up on in his post (11:42 AM).  Your observation about Mr. Bush and his followers being the little mini anti-Christ representatives is uncannily close to what really I think, C A. Satan was, of course, God’s closest lieutenant until the fall from grace.  One hopes that God would have chosen a lieutenant who was smarter than to make the anti-Christ look like the anti-Christ, until the very last moment.

I’m hopelessly confused about the “lesser of” the many evils I see out there right now, but as for your knowing about unconditional love, I never doubted it, C A.
