Countdown Thursday: Which Way Out?

McCain EnableIt has been the danger at the heart of the Clinton election strategy from the very beginning.  Taring down your Democratic opponent, in part by praising the presumptive Republican nominee... And have you not just made the case for four more years of G-O-P rule in the White House? Our fifth story on the Countdown: With no end in sight for the bloody Democratic nomination battle... new evidence tonight of a potential Democratic defection in the general election... the notion of McCain Democrats beginning to take hold.

Nancy Ploy: It was an extremely thinly-veiled threat - sent to the Speaker of the House by 20 wealthy democratic donors...We give your party a lot of money -- we support Hillary Clinton - now stop supporting Senator Obama's contention that superdelegates should follow the votes of the pledged delegates. Our Fourth story on the Countdown -- the Clinton campaign knew of the letter, though not letter-by-letter... And the Speaker tells them to shove it. With one caveat.

ODDBALL: A car stolen at the police station, and the former Peruvian President falls asleep at his war crimes trial.

McEnomics: It's no longer just the security crisis call at three in the morning. Now, Hillary Clinton is warning about the economic crisis call at three in the morning. Let's hope the White House has call waiting. In our third story tonight, this time the subject of the senator's telephonic ridicule was not her Democratic rival... but the Republican nominee. And more over, her stance was almost identical, to Barack Obama's.

Tabby Time....

WORST PERSON IN THE WORLD: Lee Scott of Walmart, Michael Chertoff and  Senator Lindsey Graham vie for tonight's top honors.

To Catch a Cable News Thief:  Perhaps the cable news war is a "knife fight"... as a buddy of mine likes to say. And goodness knows the competition has employed skull-duggery... to artificially boost its ratings. But in our number one story on the Countdown, this is not just a matter that concerns all of us here on the Countdown. This -- Joe and Jane Q Public -- is now threatening the peace and happiness of everyone in the land. Because after having tried to steal me -- and my producers -- from this network... CNN is now trying to poach our guests. In fact, we believe they had somebody out there this afternoon casing the joint, to see if they could steal the chairs.

Wouldn’t it be faboo for me if Richard Wolffe decided to make a trip to Indiana for Indiana primary coverage??! Lordy, I don’t know if I could handle seeing him in person; I might begin giggling, and it’s been a long time since I’ve giggled!
Regarding a “Tanya Harding strategy,” I just can’t see Senator Obama cowering in a hallway yelling, “Why?! Why?!”
I just don’t understand any Dems even considering going Senator McCain’s way! I made my decision months ago that I couldn’t support Senator Clinton, but, if she becomes the nominee, I sure as sh*t won’t be voting for Senator McCain; I’ll write in someone.
Walmart is a disgrace. God bless Keith Olbermann and thank you for the Worst Person segment. You go Keith!
CNN can have Pat Buchanan. I'll even chip in for cab fare.
I hope you do keep the pressure up on Walmart, they should be ashamed! That poor woman has no power against them but perhaps continuous negative publicity will help.  Keep it up.
Awesome job on keeping on Wal-Mart's case, Keith!  Great work as always.  Maybe if you keep the story alive, someone will be nice enough to give her her $470,000 back.  That way at least the poor lady will have something.
Just curious, but since so much is said about "super-delegates" (an oversimplifying and somewhat misleading term) respecting the will of their constituents, wouldn't that force Gov. Richardson, Sen. Kerry and Sen. Kennedy, "supers" all who have endorsed Obama, to cast their "super-votes" for ("Wait for it!" the man said) Hillary Clinton?

P.S. Do my posts finally get admitted back to the discussion if I mention Krista?
Worst Persons -- Wal-Mart (duh!)
Was the trucking company a Wal-Mart contractor? If so, it would look like Wal-Mart chose to punish the former employee for suing their contractor rather than join that former employee in her suit against the trucking company.
It seems like China had more influence on Wal-Mart than Wal-Mart had on China.
More importantly, now that Wal-Mart has her settlement, guess who is probably going to be stuck paying for her nursing home -- the taxpayers!

The Democratic infighting and "win the nomination even if we lose the election" strategy just has to go.  McBush is still saying incredibly stupid things that don't get covered because of the media obscession with the Clinton-Obama hoohaa.  Stop it.
Hey Countdown -- Lets start a pool on what time the first post goes up telling you that “electile” was spelled wrong.  I’ll take all the time up to the minute that this is posted.

Regarding those hardline Obama/Clinton supporters who won't vote for the other guy even if it means jumping the fence and stampeding to Bush Lite: Does anybody know anyone who actually DID move to Canada when their guy didn't get elected? Enquiring minds want to know . . .
Maybe we should set up tables outside the entry of our local Wal-Marts like all the other fundraisers do, and collect donations for Ms. Shanks on their doorstep? Preferably after notifying the local media? (Yes, please throw me out of your parking lot on the 6 o'clock news, Mr. Store Manager . . . )
Solution,Draft Al Gore at the Convention and end the back biting and fighting between the other two!He outranks both with experience and diplomacy.
Does anybody out there know that after her appearance on the Today Show at the height of the Monica scandal, when Hillary had convinced the world that the "vast right wing conspiracy" was the [only]problem, and not her husband's wandering eye, she returned to the White House and announced to her cheering family and friends: "I guess that will teach them to [expletive] with us." That's in Jeffrey Toobin's book, "A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy,"
p. 258. I trust him; he has good sources and gets his facts straight. Can you imagine what contempt she holds the American public in to take such joy in putting one over on us? And she's still doing it.
Did anyone notice that Senator Clinton mentioned the Wright Brothers in her speech in North Carolina today?
And President Bush gave a speech at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base today.
Are they trying to send a subliminal message?
God it's great to read the TV ratings on TV Newser. I see Countdown is continually getting their ass kicked by not only Reilly, but also by Greta later in the evening. One night, brown almost beat him! Hardball is taking an ass kicking too! Gotta love it.
Haha, CNN wants to steal Keith's - maybe the want you more - don't go there please Keith; they can steal Keith's friend, but they cannot steal Keith himself.
No, Keith, no! You should have let CNN have Maria until American Idol is off the air. Then you wouldn't have to report on that drivel.

Damn. ;)

Keith,

Why don't you tell us who are the Democratic party oligarchs who are reverse blackmailing Nancy Polosi?  Are you afraid that they will unplug your camera?  It might help the democratic process if the public knew whot thinks they own the Democratic party.
I've recently started watching your show.  It is refreshing to hear you tell it like it is.  Thank You. I have some of the same opinions as you.  Bush and Mccain are both blubbering idiots.
Which way out? If you're a Dem then the answer is obvious ... through the back door.
If Wal-Mart sells Seinfeld 9 for $25 and every other store sells it for $39.95 then I'll buy it at Wal-Mart. It's the American way. Sundown on the unions.
Who's really at fault here?
I like Maria Malito, but that was an awful segment last night. How about doing a segment on Bob & Ray, maybe interview Chris Elliot or have Keith play his interivew he did of them back in the 70s. Anything would be better than I-Dull banter. Great Thanks.
