Countdown Tuesday: Brain Taxing

Filed Under:

Read McCain's Lips: Never mind Senator McCain's flop back today to no tax increases, barely 48 hours after he had insisted that tax increases were not off the table. The Senator's latest motion, leading to a story perhaps even more remarkable. A McCain campaign spokesman actually claiming McCain does not speak for the McCain campaign.

IndictedUntil today, Senator Ted Stevens of Alaska was best known for the 'bridge to nowhere'. A multi-million dollar, pork-barrel project so pointless, it was later abandoned by local officials. But now, the longest-serving Republican Senator becomes the first sitting U-S Senator in fifteen years to be indicted. Ushering in a corruption scandal for this election cycle, which includes the Senator's own re-election bid.

ODDBALL: A horse named Arrr and the Jesus Cheeto now called Cheesus.

Billo BlusterTo repeat an analogy, it was about as surprising as the moment in "Casablanca" where the police captain shut down Rick's because he was shocked, shocked, to discover that gambling was going on.  And then the croupier handed him his winnings. You know, not exactly a stunning revelation, like a McCain campaign spokesman saying McCain doesn't speak for the campaign. But the apoplexy has finally hit, about Scott McClellan's "no duh" announcement that his White House used to feed Fox News talking points. But the apoplexy is not coming from, to quote more of Casablanca, the usual suspects: the liberal blogs, me, people who like the government to observe the laws. It's Billo the Clown.

Worst Person in the World: An architect firm, an NYPD officer and Charles Krauthammer all in the running

Live BaitOnly the most bitter and cynical of you might be sitting there thinking, this is almost the story Olbermann has always dreamed of covering: Ryan Seacrest, eaten by a shark. Shame on you. He'd never wish that on anybody. Besides which, the shark only took a small bite out of him. He didn't even miss work at any of his 445 jobs.

I find it fascinating that the Republicans are confident that they can win this election by smearing a canidate and making us afraid. Help us if we fall for this again
This is the last deperate gasp of the rich white male power base. May they go away soon, to lie only to each other in retirement
Am I the only one picking up on this?  The latest McCain attack ads are now implying that "celebrity hound" Obama is "arrogant."  This sounds like codeword for "uppity."  Why isn't the press all over this?  It's not like the R's are above racism.  Just look at Nixon's Southern Strategy in 1968 after passage of the Civil Rights Act.  All the white Democrats turned Republican and all the Blue Southern states turned red.  No racism there!
have you guys at the news hole been shut down by someone?????????? this used to be an interesting blog. do you want us all to go over to FIRST READ, and forget this place ever existed? what is up? how about someone there growing a pair and answering some questions?
Would someone please explain to me how Obama can be called "elitist" when he just finished paying off his student loans and stillhas clothes that are 10 years old-me too!-while Insane in the McCain has 8 MANSIONS, pays NO TAX on them and wears $500+ shoes to see the dalai Lama?!  WTF!!!
On the web today I read this DOUBLE NEGATIVE sentence by John McCain that about says it all:

I don't think our campaign ISN"T negative in the slightest
