Keith, there's a third option before next week's FISA vote:
STRIP TELECOM IMMUNITY for actions taken specifically before 9/11/01.

Telecom immunity for actions after that can and should be voted on separately, but by singling out Bush's hunger for privileged information prior to 9/11
Democrats can turn the tables on the GOP brain trust. This simple change CANNOT BE FOUGHT without forcing opponents to directly side with corporations and against the Constitution. ANY OPPOSITION TO THIS CHANGE CAN AND SHOULD BE USED TO DEFEAT any vulnerable Senators this fall.

Perhaps I did not get it, whether Mr. Obama vote for or against the FISA bill, it would look pretty bad if the FISA bill passes to allow telecom companies to wiretap, get immunity in doing so, then we have another "attack" in this country. Our national security should be questioned, right. People are tired of high gas prices, rumors of war,living in fear and dealing with natural disaster all around us. We need a change, period.

They have been two steps ahead of us on this one. Bush has been insisting on the civil immunity provision all along just because he knows he can pardon the telecoms from criminal prosecution but can't shield them in civil cases without this bill.

I am a faithful viewer of Keith Olbermann, but I am so confused. Can someone please explain to me what "Obama voted uh-uh... thing terror stop" means!? I consider myself to be an intelligent person, moderately informed about politics, but maybe I am not. What is the "Obama voted uh - uh... thing terror stop" reference about? Is there some sort of reference to something that happened? I just don't get it.

Hmmm, I have not read the FISA bill, but it is hard for me to believe that it does not somehow allow for all the pertinent telecom records to be sealed forever or deleted or burned-up in a fire. Heck, Cheney probably already has them in his files....and NO ONE goes there!

I love Keith Olbermann & Countdown. The dogged truth and unswerving constitutionally minded commentary are wonderful. I can usually count on Olbermann to give the unabashed truth.

However, I found the special comment on Obama's FISA vote to be at best a sugar coated truth. A truth which is: the FISA bill will take away the citizens right to seek legal compensation for corporate compliance in Big Brothers ease dropping while making no promise of criminal prosecution; a blatantly unconstitutional measure. I felt the forthright precision usually a staple of Olbermanns was missing in the commentary.
