He "adopted" most of his victims by stealing family pets in Princeton. His motive was to study the living and beating heart, so he would dissect the stolen cats while they were still living. I know this because I was a classmate of Bill's at Princeton and took many courses with him. He used to joke about his "little nightly forays into people's backyards."

Sorry that I cannot identify myself, I do not trust my government or the Frist family. However, I have no doubt that you could confirm the truth of my story with a little additional research.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Now that Bush’s hope for any domestic policy on the immigration bill has been quashed, he is a dead duck president. Not only will you see the political assassins on the left coming out, but the assassins on the right are now emboldened to step up to the plate at the home run derby. Co-president Chaney and his unabashed ally Rove, have destroyed the Bush name and legacy forever. I predict it will continue to unravel on a daily basis. The Mission Accomplished banner mistake admission is just the start of all the mistakes to see the light of day. The Supremes have also now stepped up the plate, but we have to wait until Oct/Nov to see if they swing and miss or hit it out of the park.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

First, Keith, you and COUNTDOWN are usually near the top as far as the highlights of my day. You have my enduring respect as a journalist, and the courage you demonstrate by calling "B.S." when you see it inspires me everyday. I'd love to sit down with you and talk baseball, literature, whatever. You are probably guaranteed IRS audits for life and who knows what else if our Dictator-wanna-be has his way. Having said this, please, NO MORE SINGING! ;)

I had actually read about what Bill Frist did to cats in CONSERVATIVES WITHOUT CONSCIENCE, and, being a cat owner and animal lover overall, I think that if I saw him in the street, I'd have to kick him in the...well, you know - or get one of my cats to pee on him or claw him where I'd kick him. A little much? Sorry...

Glad to see the correct CoulterGeist image back for WPITW!

As far as Mr. Murdoch goes, yep, he's a scum bag, but I don't know if I have the energy to keep up with his scuminess (I just made up that word) in addition to our administration, Congress, and the other people that seem to p*** me off on a daily basis. Great report, though!

More toasts and kudos of appreciation to Keith and/or whoever was responsible for the Larry Johnson interview this evening regarding the events in London. I can always depend on COUNTDOWN to find a measured, educated, calming voice in the middle of all the things and people who are trying to scare us and keep us afraid. Mr. Johnson probably has a future of audits and whatever else ahead of him, as well.

I usually take advantage of the indulgence of the great participants of this blog and try to end the week on a high note; those of you who've seen HISTORY OF THE WORLD PART I will get this reference. If you don't get the reference, see the movie! The only thing I can think of tonight, which shows the state of my brain tonight, comes from the great philosophers Bill S. Preston, Esq. and Ted Theodore Logan aka Bill and Ted from BILL AND TED'S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE; the 80's were my formative years - what can I say...So, to the moderators and blog updaters at COUNTDOWN who work so hard to keep content updated, to EVERYONE who contributes to the good and lively debate in this blog, to all the reporters, staff, and producers at COUNTDOWN, and finally to Keith Olbermann, "Be excellent to each other!"

Have a good weekend!

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

RE: Reporting of the London devices. CNN is describing the devices found in London as "potentially viable" bombs. The quotation marks are theirs, not mine and meant to signify their quoting British police. Regardless, that is fine example of spooky and vague language. Everything is "potentially viable" as a bomb under the right circumstances. I loved your guest on this subject. I thought it sounded iffy just because growing up on the farm you learn quickly that it is gasoline's nature to burn unless vaporized. Nice to hear it from an expert though.

RE: Rupert. I heard a high pitched whine and the sound of dingos hiding their pups as his blood pressure spiked. Or whatever pressure from whatever it is Rupert has thundering in his evil veins. Holy cow, Keith. I know I said kick him again, but your gusto impresses me. Good show. Oh yeah, kick him again . . . not that you need any more encouragement it would seem.

RE: Sharpened Arrows - Way to dish it out to Pelosi and Reid. Indeed, Nancy, you have had the arrows all along and no guts to draw the bow. Time to pony up, um, er, Annie Oakley? Are there any female archery heroines? No female Robin of Loxley? You get the idea. I am not holding my breath given your track record of almost total spinelessness. In fact, I suspect that you leave the hangers in your clothes to simulate a spine. Prove me wrong.

And Larry? That's an example of why I can't go to work for the DNC. Don't forget, I don't like either party, just for different reasons. Just a reminder since you hadn't been by in a while.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

#1.It's not like he's Clark Griswold, draggin' AUnt Edna's rabid dingo from his bumper. Every dog needs some air blowing on it, once and a while. #2. I realized
that I had become more focused on how people expressed themselves than what they were saying and had had the arrogance to presume I was in a position to remark on that.

I told them that, just as I had that revelation about myself (and was feeling very self righteous about it), fate stepped in to slap me down as only it can slap a person down for such arrogance. I was presented with a discussion topic for which I felt entirely too much passion. That will always be the test for me - how to handle myself when the issue is of such deep personal meaning.

I really blew it. I let all the rage that had been building up over a lot of different things boil over into a post addressed to you with what was probably the nastiest writing I've ever done in my life.

I was so embarrassed and, if I could have, I would have grabbed that item out of the blogosphere before it posted. (One lesson here is that anytime self righteousness shows up at your door step, the asshole factor will be right behind it.)

My friends asked what I had done about this situation. I, of course, said I had done nothing. After being roundly berated for being the coward that I am and for having, evidently, left any character I once owned in a packing box, they asked what I was going to do now? Nothing like good friends to tell you
when you are being an idiot.

So - I got on ebay and bought myself some character to replace that which I'd lost somewhere along the line. The packaging indicates that the more I use it the stronger it will grow. I'm hoping that is true. I also got myself a miniscule amount of courage in the same purchase.

If you don't mind, I'm gonna test these things on you. (You won't believe how much I am sweating while being on this blog. I didn't know if I'd be able to pull it up since I'd not been able to do so until now.)

Ok. Here goes. Deep breath.

I humbly apologize for my behavior in last week's posting to you. No matter what my own circumstances, opinions, or beliefs may be, I had no right to express myself as I did. I hope you can forgive me and have fonder memories of my time on the blog.

Thank you,

(I think I'll go take some anxiety meds now.)

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Resignation Alert: Rachel Brand, Assistant Attorney General for Legal Affairs resigning 7/9/07. No reason was given - I guess they figure we're not buying that "spend-more-time-with-my-family BS.

Her major accomplishments at the Injustice Department included preparing Alito and Roberts for their confirmation hearings and helping with the reauthorization of the so-called Patriot Act.

I'll keep examining the Friday trash for other goodies. With this one, it's good riddance to bad garbage.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Hi, Keith, et al,
I am a graduate of Washington State University's Edward R. Murrow: An American Original" (all media owners, reporters and publishers should be required to read this) and feel profoundly blessed to be connected, in some small way, to the pioneering journalist who prompted the citizens of the United States to see through governmentally created fear and seek the truth. Thanks to NBC for having the guts to sponsor your show. And thanks to you and your staff for not yielding to fear.
I am 58 and have never been so ashamed of my country and the actions of its government. It is indeed broken.
When Murrow decided to go forward with his program exposing Sen. Joseph R. Thanks for entertaining my comments at the "Bung Hole"..... It called the news hole? As always, great thanks. I am writing in regards to story #4. FYI jock sniffy, Piccadilly has two c’s. Great thanks.

Picadilly Bomb Scare: The London bomb scare. The intent was clearly the real thing. But what these people put together and left parked, and, authorities say, twice failed to "go off"...Did it even constitute a bomb or would it have been at worst, a car fire? The former State Department deputy head of counter-terrorism has his doubts...

I see that you terrorism guru is as esteemed as your legal expert, John Dean. Oh well, at least Johnson wasn't disbarred and was not a rat like Dean was. This would be the same Larry Johnson as:

"None of these beliefs are based in fact. ... While terrorism is not vanquished, in a world where thousands of nuclear warheads are still aimed across the continents, terrorism is not the biggest security challenge confronting the United States, and it should not be portrayed that way."

--Larry C. Johnson, "The Declining Terrorist Threat," New York Times, July 10, 2001. Johnson, a former CIA officer, was deputy director of the U.S. State Department's Office of Counterterrorism from 1989 to 1993.

The funny thing jock sniffer is that your own network disputes your supposition. I guess the story changes about everytime its brought up.

As for service as an Interceptor pilot in the height of the Cold War, I don't think it would be wise to dis any of those pilots to their face.
The Soviets were bringing Tupolev Bear Bombers into Cuba and had planned to build bases in South America as well. The Bear was capable of firing air to ground nuclear missles with a range of ninety miles if memory serves. The Interceptor pilots in order to score a kill would have to use afterburners the whole trip (burns fuel like mad) then engage heavily armed bombers and most likely mig escorts with a very good chance of having to ditch in shark infested waters when the deed was done.
Just before Bush's performance began to fail he'd been a volunteer in high altitude experiments, exposed to near vaccum while monitored by airforce doctors. Its only speculation but I figure he had lost his edge due to the after effects of those experiments, which would explain his returning to flying the trainers.
Either way the F-102s were begining to crash on landings due to metal fatigue of the landing gear. The replacement, the F-106, would have required significant retraining and the other replacement craft such as the F-4 were very different aircraft all together.
Bush no doubt could have done more, but then again a whole lot of others did nothing to serve our country in those days.

As far as government files go, I sent for some medical records once and my doctor got a letter saying I'd been killed in a hotel fire in Atlanta, I'd never been to Atlanta, and I certainly wasn't killed in a fire, that I can remember anyway.
Later when they half assed corrected their books they sent another letter saying that since they thought I was dead my medical records were now lost in a warehouse in Virgina. Probably in a cardboard box sitting on the crate holding the Ark Of the Covenent right next to the jar holding Hitler's brain.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Stopping the war:

Here is yet another feeble attempt to get the President and All the President's Men in Congress to listen. Instead, I would like to send this letter:

Dear Mr. President, Vice President Cheney and All Members of Congress:

With regards to voting on another bill (or in your case Mr. President, vetoing another bill) to begin bringing our troops home, let's try doing a little role-playing beforehand.

All of you men and women, go home. Take a good look at your children; especially those of you with college-aged children, (and yes; that includes you Mr. President) which is the age of most of those in Iraq.

Imagine sending them to Baghdad instead of Brown.

Instead of you praying they WILL be on the dean's list, praying that they WON'T be on the injured or casualty list.

Instead of helping them find a job after college, helping them walk, talk, or deal with post traumatic stress after a battlefield injury.

Instead of receiving an email requesting more money for food, receiving an email requesting better body armor and stronger bomb-resistent vehicles.

Instead of opening the door to a surprise visit from your child, opening the door to a "surprise" visit from the military casualty notification team.

Instead of visiting them on Parent's Day, visiting them at Walter Reed, or at the cemetary.

Sincerely,

All of us with loved ones in Iraq.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

First of all, Clyde, just a small note...it's not possible for Edward R. The republican suggestion that cutting war funding undermines the troops is only the tip of the iceberg. The long view of what will happen in the Middle East if we totally abandon a troop presence in a destabilized Iraq must also be a factor in their decisions.
Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Dont worry folks bath tub boy will be back soon with his "expert" telling us that the Glasgow attack wasn't a terrorist attack but a totally random car accident.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Radio Free Europe's website is running a story with the following headline:

Russia: Expert Says Bush Doesn't Want Legacy Of 'Losing' Russia

Why not? He already has a legacy of starting a war for his personal profit-revenge-religious delusions, putting a moral degenerate and incompetent yes man in charge of the DOJ, appointing John Bolton to ANYTHING after his involvement in Iran-Contra, violating the Constitution repeatedly, destroying American credibility abroad, stretching our military to the breaking point, using mercenaries to hide the true death toll and bypass the laws governing military action, killing thousands of our troops based on fraud and greed, numerous criminal violations and treason. What difference would Russia make? Oh, yeah, that's right. He started pissing them off after forgetting they DO have enough nukes to make the U.S. disappear. Stupid monkey. His legacy is already doomed. So is Dick's, Harry's, Nancy's, Mitch's and the rest of the enablers in Congress. Enjoy the coming storm. You are brining it upon yourselves.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Hi, Clyde Small in Bainbridge Island, WA, I recently finished reading that book, as well, and agree that it should be required reading not just for journalists but for EVERYONE who cares about their country and what the people they "elect" are capable of when in power. Prosecutor Vincent Bugliosi's famous book "Helter Skelter" provides the definitive account of the murders.

And given that airline passengers have been screened for weapons--including any type of cutting tools--for many years and that intelligence experts had warned about Al Qaeda crashing planes into buildings, a dozen people on the same day, flying in groups on transcontinental flights, getting caught with box cutters or some other type of weapon would not "look foolish." The London bombs are better seen in the context of Iraq, where those producing them are unfortunately successful at exploding car bombs and killing people. Both 9/11 and the London story also suggests that the best weapons against both skillful and inept terror attacks involve gathering intelligence and vigilance.

To the extent that government officials exaggerate attempts at producing terror, they are simply finishing the job that the terrorists (whether success or not) have attempted to do: instill terror in people in order to make them abandon democratic principles.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Keith, as usual, you're a half-wit(as are your ratings outside of Cindy Sheehan's house). Tell you what buddy, next time we find a "car fire" with a possible device in it, let's send you out to disarm it, since it's obviously a prop planted by Cheney and Haliburton. Aluminum foil hat, conspricy nutjob poses as journalist. Non-Muslims find great pleasure in maligning Prophet Mohammed, citing his marriage to Aishah at the age of 9 and calling him a pedophile. This kind of disrespect is extremely disturbing since we, Muslims, never denigrate Jesus, ever. To us he is one of our greatest prophets including Abraham, Moses, Noah etc. Judaism, Christianity and Islam share the same prophets, is it too much to expect that some respect is shown to our Prophet? But I digress, Prophet Mohammed was married at age 25 to a widow, he remained married to her for 25 years. After her death he married a number of times mainly for political alliances and to give protection to widows. His marriage to Aishah, there are varying reports of her actual age, was proposed by Aisha's father, Abu Bakr, as a means to cement the alliance between Prophet Mohammed and his friend Abu Bakr. Also, Aishah being exceptionally intelligent was also the means to later educate the followers on religious matters and also to remove beyond a shadow of a doubt the prevailing concept about the inferiority of women in society. In the Arab culture prevailing 1428 years ago, marriage for girls at such a young age was the norm not an exception. Sitting in the 21st century it's rather ludicrous to be judging something that we have no experience about. A quick mention about the cartoons, Islam does not allow the physical depiction of any of the Prophets, it would only be a rendition of artists based on pure imagination after all. You have numerous statues/pictures etc of Jesus and you think that's how he actually looked? If Jesus is depicted in cartoons or offensive caricatures, you may be open minded enough not to be offended by them but truthfully, it is extremely offensive to me. Islam is a great religion, if you study it you'll hopefully learn some tolerance but if you cannot please leave it alone. Don't think some fanatics are the representation of what Islam is about. To quote from Sura Kafirun (The unbelievers - 109): Say, oh unbelievers, I worship not that which ye worship; nor worship ye that which I worship; and I shall not worship that which ye worship; nor will you worship that which I worship; unto you your religion, and unto me my religion."

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Bring troops home. George W. Bush has not."

Mr. Bush has authorized only the release of his records from Texas National Guard files. And his Military Personnel Records Jacket from Texas is missing many things. There should be pay stubs for every day served, a roll-up of total retirement points earned for service, and, most likely, an Officers' Board of Inquiry Report on why a pilot, who had spent $1 million dollars learning to fly a jet in war time, was suspended. These records, if they exist, have been committed to microfiche and are on file at the Air Reserve Personnel Headquarters in Denver. And, regardless of the president's parsing of language, he has not yet authorized the release to the public of his full service record from Denver.

Since 2000, journalists and researchers have been struggling to make sense of files that contain far less than "everything." In May 2000, Walter Robinson of the Boston Globe reviewed 160 pages of Bush's record, and concluded:

For a full year, there is no record that he showed up for the periodic drills required of part-time guardsmen.

*****************************************************

Cheney and the draft
Cheney was of military age and a supporter of the Vietnam War but he did not serve in the war, applying for and receiving five draft deferments. In an interview with George C. Wilson that appeared in the April 5, 1989 issue of The Washington Post, when asked about his deferments the future Defense Secretary said, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service."[7]

PEACE!

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

PA, Los Angeles (Sent Monday, July 02, 2007 2:34 PM) PA in this country we have several freedoms, including freedom of expression and freedom of speech. Islam apparently has a law against the physical depiction of Mohammed. Obviously the two laws conflict, which do you think should prevail here in the US? If someone here violates Islamic law should they be punished, if it does not violate US law?

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Jaime,

I know it would be futile to send any kind of letter to the President. It's quite obvious that no matter how much evidence GW and Dick are presented with about the Clusterf**k this war has become, they show no signs of changing course and bringing our troops home. I am so tired of hearing from his Stepford wife how much he "cares" about the troops and how much of a "Christian" man he is. It's all bulls**t. He is also no man of courage, which he keeps telling everyone that it takes to "stay the course". My definition of courage is when one stands up and does something for the good of someone else; in this case many. If he had any courage at all he would be bringing our troops home rather than worrying about how this so-called "defeat" would ruin his legacy. Arrogance is the opposite of courageous.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Steve - Roast Chickenhawk? Probably tastes like turds. You've got me spitting coffee on my screen again lol. Good thing I got LCD monitor cleaner last week. I must remember not to drink coffee while reading.

Ron Whittle: Breaking with my long standing policy of not replying to Kool Aid Drinkers, you do have freedom of speech to write and post whatever you want. However, we also have the freedom to bypass posts which are designed to provoke, mislead, misrepresent or misinform us.

Freedom is a two way street, my friend. God Bless America!

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

'a car bomb in Central London, not far from Picadilly Circus, that police were able to diffuse overnight.'

...defuse. Defuse, guys. There's bad English and then there's inexcusable. You just hit the latter.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

B A - Now that's how to handle the "Ann's" here!! The same can not be said truthfully about Mohamad.

Is the following correct?
"Volume 7, Book 62, Number 64: Sahih Bukhari [the most venerated and authentic Islamic source]
Narrated 'Aisha: that the Prophet married her when she was six years old and he consummated his marriage when she was nine years old, and then she remained with him for nine years (i.e. till his death).
"

We recognize that there are a number of differing sects in Islam, the News is full of stories of them murdering each other right and left.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Renee, you don't like the rules, you buy GE and change them. Or go elsewhere. Your choice.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Scott, Henderson - The law of the land prevails, no one is talking about applying Islamic laws if someone makes derogatory comments about Islam in the US. He was lucky he had people interceeding for him, otherwise he would not have escaped.

"As to avatars, there have been many so described .....

What's a atheist Christian? - a believer that doesn't believe that he believes that he doesn't believe?? Wow, pass the meds......
Terry Columbia, SC
"
There are several levels of belief or disbelief among those who describe themselves as "Atheist Christians".
Albert Schweitzer was occasionally described as an Athiest Christian. His materialistic mental processes could not allow him to state with honesty that he believed the story of Jesus was true as historical fact. He did say that the Gospels were true on the Metaphysical plane, and always tried to live as a true follower of the teachings of Christ.
You'd have to visit one of their websites to get a clear picture of their philosophy.
Kurt Vonnegut would have been considered an "Agnostic Christian", he once stated he was a Christ loving Agnostic.
Thomas Jefferson was more of an Arian Christian.

Crass Materialism is a mental condition as well as simply being a philosophy.
Bill Gates for Example once stated that he could not say that God exists, he was rocking back and forth like his mind was examining all possible angles of the question.
He has contributed huge sums of money to Christian organizations around the world and he and his wife( whom he named his fondation after)are very active in promoting both Christian and Atheistic philandthropy.

I understand that Mohammad's uncle while on his death bed told him he could not in all honesty say that Islam was the best Religion. He is revered for his honesty.

The Muslim Hadiths brand Mohammad by their own words.
As the record of his life they are a sort of Gospel.
If they wish to deny their own records of his life,so be it. Toss the Hadiths on the fire and start over with only the Koran.
If they accept the Hadiths and wish to try to justify having sex with a child, heaven help them, and heaven help their children.

The lowest age of Consent I know off is 14. While its possible for a girl of 14 to be mature enough physically to have sex in a more or less normal fashion, its really not cool at all.
I've never heard of sex with a nine year old being acceptable in any but the most primitive societies.

Now I'm for dropping the subject, because it disgusts me. Remember I'm not the one who brought it up, I just provided textual evidence of the fact.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Renee - No, it's like telling all the people who complain endlessly about the posting policies to either deal with it or leave. If you want to make a facile comparison between that and attacking someone's patriotism, you are starting the wrong fight with the wrong person. It's that simple.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

I wasn't complaining about the rules, that was not my point, but whatever, fine, no problem, I don't want to argue, it's no big deal.
Peace be with you.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Mr Olberpuke you are so left of left that you make me sick i am a member of the democrat party but people like you make me sick your so blinded by hate of Mr. Bush that you can not even report the story with out a snide comment. The same thing that Pearl Harbor had to do with the Soloman Islands...Nothing. In case you still don't understand...We had to fight the enemy where they were. So the poor innocent people of the Solomans are the same people in Iraq today.
And don't say Saddam & sons were swell guys who didn't murder a million people, because they did.
And don't forget that Saddam Hussein used weapons of mass destruction on his own people, remember the 5000 Kurds who died in one day from Saddams chemical weapon stock pile.
And lastly, when will people understand history? I mean liberals like Neville Chamberlin (UK prime minister) in WWll appeased our enemies (Hitler) with phony treaties that meant nothing. Not because they may one day have the Bomb but because a State run by Islamic Fanatics is many times more likely to use one than any Western Nation not already embroiled in a World War.
Pakistan and India have had nuclear weapons for decades as has Egypt and possibly Israel and a number of other states whose Governments look at Islamic fanaticism as a threat to their own Nation as well as others. These States are unlikely to use nukes unless attacked with nukes, or on the point of being over run by a superior Invading force.
As the AQ Khan nuke proliferation ring has proven constant vigilance and stern measures are necessary in order to keep the Djinn in the bottle.

I'm reminded of an article on the mythology of the Djinn in the Bottle.
It made a good case for the Djinn representing forbidden and highly dangerous knowledge, since there are historical references to such records being sealed in jars and either buried or cast into the sea.

Countdown Friday, Stop the War: 2

Wow!
