As much as I condemn Mr. Bush et al, I truly thought when he was first "selected" that we would be embarrassed by him not that he would be so amazingly horrible.

When the Iraq invasion was first announced I did, indeed, put my partisanship aside. I really did support what I thought at the time to be the best thing for our country.

He LIED to me. He BETRAYED me. He KILLED the men and women who went forth to do his bidding.

He PARDONED the only person who hadn't been lucky enough to wiggle off the hook who KNEW that the LIES had been told.

He did indeed betray me and all of us. There are no words to convey how sad I am. I'm not even angry anymore. I am in deep mourning.

We will never be able to trust anyone in office again. Although we've always been cynical, deep inside there has been trust that those upon whom we bestow our greatest expectations will somehow do the job right. That trust is completely lost.

Keith, You have so many commentary in very realistic and gut wrenching manner. Let me ask you how much doest appeal or matter to comman Americans.. When I see or try to talk to them "THEY KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS" who is "Scooter LIAR" or who is VALERIE PLAME..
It is well and good to make all this talk at national level but when it comes to local level not many many people are aware of all this happeneing. Perfect example is local news coverage. I am from Detroit are and I see very minimuml coverage of this on local media. People are so IGNOREMUS of the happeniong that they simply do'nt care unless it affects their life style or pocket book.
This is about local media should put all this in a proper perspective. Michigan is one of the state which has been ignored by this administration. A groundswell of immense proportions would be necessary to initiate and carry an impeachment forward. Reuben, your comments about keeping them in office but tying their hands is well-intentioned but unrealistic. While everyone is up in arms about Libby, the administration is waiting for the Senate to hand over still more power when it returns next week. From Think Progress (http://thinkprogress.org/2007/07/03/political-appointees-given-new-regulatory-powers/):

"President Bush has signed an executive order that “would require regulators to show that private markets had failed to address a targeted problem before they went after it themselves.” It would also give political appointees in an “obscure White House office” “greater authority over how federal regulations are written.” Next week, the Senate is set to vote on legislation blocking the order, which the House has already passed."

The post includes a link to the WaPo article, "House Balks at Bush Order for New Powers"(http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/07/03/AR2007070301245.html), which includes a link to the Executive Order. Follow the trail - it leads to the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs (OIRA), which is headed by Susan Dudley, a recess appointee who Bush knew would never be confirmed by the Senate and who consistently puts the interests of Big Business ahead of individuals (sound familiar?).

The EO itself stipulates that no new regulations can be enacted by government agencies unless OIRA determines that the problem has failed to be adequately addressed by private industry. Whatever expectations you have of the EPA, FDA, FTC, you name it - this executive order ties THEIR hands.

So, as we all continue to express our outrage at the Libby pardon, we must not delude ourselves into thinking that the presidents have done their worst and now we just wait for them to leave office. They continue to shift what little balance of power remains to themselves at our expense!

Cheney - ....this guy's been in the GOP pipeline since Reagan. This is the one man that could and does control GWB - and don't we know it?! This character is the so-called Machiavellian personality that controls the throne...history tells us that we've been there and done that, more than once. This is not a unique situation historically, but certainly unique to the USA. I wish I could say that Congress will save us....can't do it. What we've got in front of us in the upcoming election is the 'lesser of two evils' candidates, but nothing that will set us free by any means. I'm sorry to say that in my opionion virtually ALL the viable candidates are bought and sold - but that's just my cynicism shining through. Still, I'll vote for 'the lesser of two evils' party and you know what that means...I've got to at least vote for the party platform that represents the People - the candidates will have to prove themselves. Something I read recently - as the President goes, so goes the nation. The character of our next leader will shape us for better or worse for the ages - and largely because of the additional recovery time required from the present administration's monumental mis-management and fiscal bleed-out. Media Matters had a truly grand expose by EL Doctorow on the state of the nation today. Highly recommended to one and all......

One last aside if you will - Al Gore would have, in my opinion, done an infinitely better job dealing with (what has become) global terrorism, would not have exacerbated relatively localized terrorist problems in 2001 by invading Iraq, and would not have spent down fiscal surpluses also present in 2001, and most importantly would not have needlessly expended the many thousands of American and Iraqi lives sacrificed in this needless war. It's hard to fathom the world-wide chaos that has been created by the invasion of Iraq, and yet people are celebrating the release of Scooter Libby - simply a pawn in Cheney's war to be sure but legitimately tried and convicted.....the celebrants are forgetting the implications. I have to say it again ... I'm absolutley astounded that anyone at all supports Bush at this moment in time, but we have them right here and they're in you're face.

May we all look forward to future Independence Days that celebrate what our Founding Fathers really had in mind - liberty and justice for all!! Happy 4th!!!

Brilliant, simply brilliant.

Truth be told, I'm no fan of the POTUS or VPOTUS. But whats funny Olby is I don't think the ones I am a fan of walk on water. Your hard hitting interviews of Clinton, Gore, and other liberals and Democrats aside, I ask you, do they all walk on water? Do you feel that they can do wrong? After the GOP's losses in 06 one would'a thought you'd have, well, continued to concentrate and hold those in power accountable. You had no problem critiquing every move they made, making them out to be little Satan's out to destroy your version of Democracy. But now the Dems hold both houses, and amazingly, not much critiquing of them. I'm so astonishingly shocked I can barely adjust my windsor knot.

And than theres Fox Noise... Get it, instead of Fox News, you say Noise, because all they do is make noise and not news like your the current network you haven't left yet in a fury of arrogance and burned bridges. Look, if I got stomped into the ground as often as you do, well, every night, even by Nancy Grace, I'd be pretty pissed off too... But what did it for me was that night when your were talkin to the Rev and he said how there needs to be more people of minority status (cough, blacks, cough) on TV... And you so subtly made sure he knew that your guest host is not only a black, but a black woman to boot!

As in, I may be a lily insulated rich white guy just like good ol Scooter, but at least I know whose ass to suck and who I should stroke a few times a year. (cough, Dan Abrams, cough) You may not be able to relate in the slightest to the plight of minorities in this and other countries, but you can feel guilty about it AND pat yourself on the back making you feel better because of it. And surely that pay raise you got mentioned above really helps you be even more down to earth and understanding of those that rely on for praise.

Again, the founding fathers of this great country of ours would be up in arms today for this administration has shown no regard for the rule of law.. The Bush administration states that the punishment is excessive? They've got to be kitting, right? A conservative judge, appointed by his excellency himself king George, did not either write or add his own interpretation of what constitutes just punishment for the offense perpetrated by Cheney's fall guy, Scooter Libby. As a matter of fact, the punishment is just and suited for such an offense. To my better judgement I'd say reason has left the building. This administration has and continues to make a mockery of the executive branch by showing no regard to the very paper king George swore to uphold and protect, the Constituion of these United States. Lest he be reminded that the real sovereign of this nation is the people that put him in office. And come Nov '08 the people will again cast their sovereign right to oust his excellency. God bless our United States of America for these are indeed perilous times for our Republic.

I've just looked at this video, and it made me laugh. Keith Overboard keeps giving his same old Howard Beale spiel - another special hissy fit - let me sum it up - Bush Bad!

Most people who have commented on Mr. Olber-lib's latest rant on this site seem to think he's speaking, "truth to power." Is that what this is all about? Is it a bunch of otherwise insignificant people who get their rocks off by trying to take down people who actually are significant?

I am not a Bush supporter, but I do not believe the man is a liar, I do not believe the man is stupid, and I am sick and tired of the disrespect shown to him by the demagogues in Congress and the same old National Enquirer media.

Mr. Olber-wimp is just throwing meat to a bunch of rabid dogs here. He is not convincing anyone, he is just playing to his base. His ratings are awful, and no one I know has even heard of him. I would love more people to see him, so they could witness Lib misery and malcontents first hand.

I think Mr. Olber-cry is possibly the most disingenuous person on the air waves today. He never has a contrary viewpoint on his show, though he decries "Fox Noise" which actually does show both sides of an issue. Yes, they may be slanted right - but they show both sides of an issue. Olber-whine just ferments propaganda to rile up

I'm not writing this to get in a fight - nor do I want anyone to fire back at me that I'm spreading hate. The only hate I see here is from the Libs, who spend our tax dollars hand over fist to investigate Republicans. To me, this is a clear waste of my tax dollars, and it is a shameful attempt to hold on to power - and possibly grab more - NOT by doing anything constructive - but by smearing the Republicans. It's so easy to tear down, it's not so easy to build.

I live in NY and I constantly have to call up Chuck Schumer's office to remind him that fixing the George Washington bridge is much more important to me than the time he spends trying to find a new way to get Karl Rove.

Enough with this Lib obsessions! But back to Olber-fool...

The bottom line to all of this is: if we the people had any doubts, reservations or down right distrust of the government before, we have been validated - convincingly.

Republicans and Democrats are to blame for the devisiveness that now exists in this country. We are again, brother fighting brother.

On this day, July 4th - while watching the history of the revolution, I am reminded that we are still battling against the arogancy of government in power who have no regard for what is right for the people they govern. We fought to have these rights, only to find ourselves 200 plus years later still fighting against anarchy. A government that could care less what the people want and need, and conspire to do what they will to their own ends. Sounds like King George all over again. How appropriate - King George.

I look at the Iraq war - where a stronger more coordinated, better equipped army is fighting against a "militia" minded rebellion... and lo and behold.. the militia is holding their own. Does this too sound familiar? Our arogance is parralell to that of the British Military in the Revolution. I pose this question to all - Who won the Revolution? The mightly British? or the rag-tag, undisciplined American militias?

How do we get our self-respect back after this Presidency? Who has the ability to rebuild what has so horribly been squandered and taken from the American people - our convictions of a United Nation? This administration has devided us. Our congress has let us down. In total, we the people are divided from our government. There is no bigger shame. We are at our lowest. Who will save us? Can we be saved? I have very little hope.

It's time to put an end to the neo-Inquisition, and bring in the true freedom and democracy, we've longed for.

Don't forget that President Bush was duly elected following a constitutional process that was upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court. If you don't like the way it turned out, fine, it's your right to think that way.
As for the war in Iraq, you might try asking some of the members of the military who have been over there some time during this conflict. Your own NBC even featured a few soldiers who told the NBC reporter, in effect, "Don't send us home yet...we're not finished here. Let us finish our mission first." Obviously, the mission is more than just finding WMD or bringing to justice Sadam Hussein. Obviously Iraq, as well as the entire region around Iraq, is a breeding ground for Islamic terrorists. Obviously, the war against Islamic terrorism goes beyond Iraq too.
You may not like what President Bush has done, and it's your right not to. Many didn't like Abraham Lincoln either, when he served in the White House. Statistics clearly show that history has been kinder to Lincoln than his contemporaries, and so it might be with the current President, too. At least, Mr. Olberman, he thought enough of your right to your opinion, that he took it upon himself to make a controversial decision to send troops into harm's way with the goal of making the world a safer place to live in.

Hey 'Mark' wherever you are: I have spoken to members of the military and how they feel about being in Iraq-they aren't happy. Even the people I know that were gung=ho about going, aren't happy-particularly those that spent three deployments there and are gearing for their fourth.

To be sure, people want to stay because they don't want it to be for nothing, but don't ever ass-u-me that everybody over there is happy to be there or is a willing participant.

I can assure you that my brother would much rather be here in the US with his children and not be there hoping not to get killed for a reason that he thinks is bogus, and would have loved to celebrate our Indpendence day here at home. His wife would have loved to have been here. My nephew, who has missed nearly the whole entire first year of his young sons life, would love to be here instead of doing another year (wait, had 3 months added to it).

Besides the fact that not everybody wants to be there, do you realize what is happening to our heroes both mentally and physically? Are you going to be the person that gives money to the young guy standing at the street corner because he's not 'stable' enough to hold down a job, are you just going to pass him by because he bothers or scares you? Guess what patriot, that person will probably be a veteran. A veteran who was sent off to hell, and came home without the help and support that he desparately needed from our government.

TBI, PTSD, missing limbs: Oh, what a wonderful life to have that. Just becareful though, because when you go to the VA for a disability rating, they seem to think that PTSD and TBI fall into the same category. Yep, you can can't PTSD from TBI, but you don't get TBI from PTSD.

Oh sorry, that is just ONE persons story. How many thousands more are there???????????

Bush and Cheney care more about the corporate-pollutin' crooks than the laws in our Consitution, or caring about the enviroment of our fragile planet Earth.
They have turned to the Almighty Dollar, and away from Great Spirit.
I'm definitely in favor of some type of revolution

I'm an American, flying the flag with 15 stars and 15 stripes(which is my "rebel" flag).
I'm not affiliated with any political party, nor do I conform to organized "church" religions.
I follow my own(indigenous) spiritual path, Great Spirit has set my feet upon.
I shall not be intimidated or persecuted by extreme
ulra-conservative/neo-con zealots(or to be forced to conform to their repressive beliefs), for they are bigoted towards the unconventional(i.e. vegetarians, free-thinkers, and free-spirits), or anyone who does not support to their oppressive views.
