#5: Perhaps it's time to at least redeploy our National Guard back home from Iraq. If Chertoff's gut has any say in the matter, we'll need them sooner rather than later.

#4: Well, now he is ORDERING private citizens NOT to speak. That would be like the US Navy coming to me now and telling me what to do. Not really, as the US Navy really is important and knows what it's doing (usually).

#3: Only mentally (and/or morally) corrupt people would still believe in anything Guiliani says. How else do you explain it?

This is not aimed at anyone...
Well, I guess they feel the need to go and try to find something to fight, just to keep A war going, we'll move it back to Afghanistan, so we can reap more money, keep the gas prices higher, fill our pockets, and just plain make ourselves look good! Is it possible they are seeing they may not be able to continue being in Iraq under false pretenses?

We should all know the newbies they have in the CIA that Bush and Cheney have put in there are gonna say this BS! AL QUAEDA MY A$$! I'm so tired of this BS..

I said in an earlier post way back they would be doing this.. gawd.. let me try to guess where they just might attack too.. ummm maybe places where they pulled out Haliburton and made a quick exit to Dubai.. aren't there Oil refineries in both places they pulled out from.. damn what a good way to be able to raise the price of oil again! Haliburton is safe and snug with the rest of their cronies the Saudis.. SICK!

Strange, Darth Dick has repeatedly stated that 75% of al Qaeda senior leadership has been wiped out and
al Qaeda has been weaken...guess he just got more bad intelligence...strange, we left Afganistan and Pakistan where al Qaeda and bin Laden are to invade a country, Iraq, that didn't have any al Qaeda or Taliban in the country until Bush, Dick, Dumsfeld, et al, destabilized Iraq...and strange, al Qaeda has reformed and is as strong as ever...what brilliant leadership...

No wonder Homeland Security Czar Chertoff has a gut feeling...but he doesn't raise the alert level, doesn't boost security, says we are vulnerable six years after 9-11...Haven't we made ourselves safer in the last six years under Bush's stellar leadership? Shouldn't we be less vulnerable now, six years after 9-11? Shouldn't we have solid intelligence? Chertoff should recruit some psychics to help augment his gut feelings...brilliant leadership...

Remember Repub Koolaid Drinkers that the Repubs voted against the troops today...voted against allowing our troops to be home as long as they were at war...at least the Dems supported the troops today...

Good "Hump Day" evening. Thanks to Amy for filling in for Keith tonight! Maybe he went to see the new HARRY POTTER movie? :) Hell, a part of me is trying to get over that he's read all the books. I'M JUST KIDDING! While Harry's not my cup of tea, I'm glad people of all "stripes" enjoy him, and anything that gets kids to WANT to read is OK by me.

I'm tired of hearing about Chertoff's guts. And, I am sickened by the fact that I think it's going to take another 9/11-esqe attack by Al Qaeda in this country to get it through people's heads and WAKE THEM UP to the fact that this administration has truly bitten the big one when it comes to the "war on terror."

I think David Shuster deserves a medal and then some for keeping up with and clarifying all the ilk that's going on with our government. This all gets really difficult to keep up with, and he does such a great job!

The clips of the firefighters' video that were featured on tonight's COUNTDOWN were so powerful and gut-wrenching. I had tears rolling down my face. But, and I've said this in the past, if any debunking of the Mayor Rudy myth has any hope of effectiveness, these guys and anyone else in a position to do so have to spread the word beyond the east coast and COUNTDOWN viewers. A LOT of people still believe Rudy is "America's Mayor." And, as far as the warning about the "dangers" of playing politics with 9/11, IT'S ALREADY BEEN DONE!! It's a little late for that admonition.

And, I want to end tonight's post by letting you all know that you may not be seeing much of me here over the next few days. No, I'm not being shuttled off to an undisclosed location for my or anyone else's protection. This weekend is my husband and I's 5th wedding anniversary, so we're leaving tomorrow morning for a long weekend in Memphis. While not exactly an "exotic" locale, neither one of us have been there, the trip won't bankrupt us (check local listings for news about the property tax situation in the Indianapolis area!), I get to get the heck out of Indy for awhile, which I DESPERATELY need, my husband can stuff his face with BBQ, and I get to see if Graceland's as tacky as pictures indicate. Our actual anniversary is this Friday...the 13th...GOOD THING I'M NOT THE SUPERSTITIOUS TYPE! So, while I may not be posting for a bit, I will be here "in spirit" and will be back for sure by early next week ready to educate (I hope!), be educated (a guarantee!), inspire (Wouldn't THAT be fabulous?), and, perhaps, pi$$ off (but, hopefully not TOO MUCH).

Thank you all for brightening my days and keeping me on my toes. YOU GUYS ROCK!

I was disappointed to see the stand-in host for Olbermann talking about Giuliani being "swift boated." Swift boating means smearing a political opponent with lies. That's what the original Swift Boaters did to John Kerry. Nothing was presented in the Countdown program that even hinted that the firefighters union was lying about Giuliani's less than stellar performance after the 9/11 attack. Yeah, they usually endorse Democrats, but that's irrelevant to whether or not they got their facts right. Somehow, I don't think Keith would have let this sneaky Orwellian twisting of meaning slip by him.

He based his assessment on earlier patterns of terrorists in Europe and intelligence he would not disclose, except that “summertime seems to be appealing to them," Chertoff said in his discussion about terrorists, "We worry that they are rebuilding their activities,"

"The threat coming out of there is very real, even if there aren't a lot of specifics attached to it," one officials said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

The Medical Examiner now has a permanent presence there for the forseeable future because of the remains they keep finding. It's been hundreds of bone fragments as well as whole arm and leg bones since October of last year.

Al Qaeda beat Bush to the punch on this surge. Whereas Bush started his surge but a few months ago Al Qaeda started their surge the minute Bush invaded Afghanistan and Iraq (several years ago). What did this administration think the terrorists and organizations as Al Qaeda were going to do? Run or sit on their ass, bury their faces in their hands and exclaim "oh my, Bush is coming". These people are fanatics and they are tough. They are not like one large tumor that can be easily pinpointed and then removed, but rather like cancer cells that have entered the blood stream and hide throughout the body. Kill 10 and they are replaced by 20. Kill the leaders and they are replaced by another. There can be no total victory against these people except by way of change of hearts and minds and by getting to the younger people before their minds are twisted by fanatical religious leanings and the terrorists. And that takes good relations where possible and education of young people across the globe to learn to live in harmony as a world-wide community. It will take years and years and will not happen in our lifetime. In the interim, one does not make matters worse by invading countries and threatening others. It gives your enemies the ammunition they want and need to increase their numbers. It gives them a cause and/or a target at which to cast their hate and violence. Give one no enemy and their hatred and desire to do violence will fade. But is there a war against terrorism? Yes there is. But it is a war against the evil and violent of the future based on those choices young people may make in their futures. You cannot win that kind of war using agression. Should one defend oneself against those who have already chosen this type of life, of course. But there will be losses on all sides and all around the globe including in the United States as with 911 until those causes that push people to do evil and violence are eliminated. In the interim, yes defend yourself. Yes, develop covert stealth units that can elimnate the terrorists leaders no matter where they are in the world. Yes, hit any known terrorists training camp with air power or missles and yes, continue to do what it takes to protect the American people. But unless attacked by another country, and there is no doubt as to what country has attacked the US, and that this foreign country's government and people were behind such an atack, do not invade other people's land, property or way of life. Because when you do, you set the clock back a thousand years in the world's attempts to decreasse acts of terrorism. Thank you GW and Cheney and Rumsfield and to any others who have supported this administration for setting us back several hundreds of years in our fight against terorism. First off - Krista: Happy 5th wedding anniversary. Enjoy your time in Memphis and enjoy the BBQ. I hear it is one of the best if not THE best in the country. I also will be taking off soon for the "sunny beaches" of Ohio next week with my son...well; maybe not the sunny beaches, but it sounds better than just saying "Ohio". We are actually leaving on the 17th which is my husband and my 26th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately my husband is over in the war so, as has happened many times through the years, we are spending it apart. We'll be celebrating it when he returns. The best anniversary present I could receive is for him to be safe.

As for the show: Speaking of my husband, he has been to both war zones. He definitely sees that all of the money and resources have been poured into Iraq (although not enough to the troops; most to contractors). Of course that is where Al Quaida is NOW but wouldn't be had we not gone there in the first place. It is no big surprise to me or him or anyone with any sense that we should have been focusing on Afghanistan for the last 6 years. Now not only do we have a terrible situation in Iraq, but Afghanistan is also beginning to see the same roadside bombs that we now see in Iraq. Commader in Chief? No. Commander Inept. Commander Incompetent.

Giuliani: This guy is a dirt bag masquerading as a hero. We have a firefighter friend and he has sent us emails about what kind of "support" Giuliani gave the firefighters before and after the fall of the towers. He is a republican. Money first. That is why he stopped the search for remains AFTER all of the gold, etc., was found. It had nothing whatsoever to do with the health and well-being of those firefighters still searching for their lost comrades. As more information comes to light about what this guy really is about, I hope these that look at him as some kind of God will come to their senses, although these are probably the same people that voted for Bush - twice.

The Harry Potter movie. Whoopie. I'll be missing that one. Never a fan. I'm much more looking forward to the Simpson's Movie coming out. And speaking of that - Boooo to the Vermont Springfield that won the premier. I thought their video entry was lame.

Just a little levity here, I'm usually more serious.

The hypocrisy and incompetence of our WH makes me want to scream most of the time -- it's gotten to the point where nothing they do surprises me any more.

I'm 52. I read alot and I've read all six Harry Potter books. I'm looking forward to seeing the fifth movie. My 26 year old daughter and I will devour the last book the day after it comes out. My 21 year old son will read it after one of us is finished.

The books are great, the movies (at least the first four -- haven't seen the fifth) are great. They are steeped in mythology and magic, and yet the "Order of the Phoenix" deals with a wizard government trying to deny reality and control how people think -- imprisoning those that disagree. Sound familiar?

Maybe us 'Muggles' (non-wizards) can learn something from Harry, who speaks truth to authority and suffers the resulting character assignation with dignity.

World peace cannot be dependent upon governments as Bush would have you believe. Assuming stability would come to Iraq once a government had been put in place was a crock. Nationalism and pride in one's country is the basis on which a people build a stable and cooperative society. If those who are chosen to govern that society are corrupt or dishonest they damage the very fabric of the people's nationalism, pride and cooperative foundation. This has been the case for the US under Bush and it is the case for the Iraqi people under their current leadership (if you can call it a legitimate leadership). In the case of Iraq yes, Saddam was a sadistic leader that needed one day to be removed, but the Iraqi people themselves still had a sense of nationalism that they do not have today under the US occupation.

World peace has to be created from the bottom up, not from the top down. Governments (the top) can meet all they want, threaten all they want, promise all they want, but cannot guarantee nor force world peace. It has to begin with the people (the bottom). It begins with one sincere American becoming friendly with a reciprocating friendly Iraqi and vice-versa. And then another and another and another until indvidual friendly relationships grow to become a collective friendly relationship. It takes an Iraqi business man shaking the hand with an American business man over a deal that benefits both parties. It takes a 15 year old American student befriending a 15 year old Iraqi student (exchanging ideas and experiences), it takes individuals in theatre, sports, gardening, law enforcement, the arts, parenting, health & medicine, whatever from the US and from Iraq sharing their interests and love for their interests and thereby developing a relationship through those things important to both parties. It takes just one such relationship to start the process followed by others that will eventually grow intro a collective bond.

No sane American likes war, death and destruction and no sane Iraqi likes war, death and destruction. Those Iraqi women we see on television who have lost a child to war are just as distraught and in anguish as any Amercian mother would be over the loss of one of their children. The same holds true for fathers, grandparents and extended family members as well as friends and neighbors. So why is there violence, fighting, death and destruction? It is becauase we allow governments or fanatical leaders to decide for us, the people of Amercian and Iraq,and many other parts of the world how we are going to live and die and what price we will pay for their twisted goals and objectives whatever they might be.

If 20,000 Americans visited 20,000 Iraqis tomorrow in a small town in Iraq to share a meal, to share ideas, to play a little soccer, to learn of one another and to simply enjoy each other's company, 40,000 people would have a wonderful time, unless the event was shattered and ruined by others (government officials as Bush or fanatical leaders as Bin Laden). Two people able to influence others in a manner that it could ruin a wonderful gathering between to separate peoples. As I stated, world peace must come from the people and in cases where we need to start over through one friendship at a time until a collective bond can be developed. Unfortunately, the damage done by the terrorists leaders and the damage done by Bush will require years and years of relationship building before we even get back to pre-911.

The president of the Florida Holocaust Museum, George W. Bush's grandfather derived a portion of his personal fortune through his affiliation with a Nazi-controlled bank.

John Loftus, a former prosecutor in the Justice Department's Nazi War Crimes Unit, stated Bush's grandfather, Prescott Bush, was a principal in the Union Banking Corp. in Manhattan in the late 1930s and the 1940s. Leading Nazi industrialists secretly owned the bank at that time, Loftus said, and were moving money into it through a second bank in Holland even after the United States declared war on Germany.

The bank was liquidated in 1951, Loftus said, and Bush's grandfather and great-grandfather received $1.5 million from the bank as part of that dissolution.

That's where the Bush family fortune came from.

The grandfather of President George Walker Bush (Skull & Bones, 1968) was Prescott Bush (Skull & Bones, 1917), and his great grand father was George Herbert Walker. Prescott Bush and George Herbert (Bert) Walker were directors of the London-affiliated New York banking house of Brown Brothers-Harriman and its various fronts, which funded and directed the military-industrial complex behind Hitler and the Nazi revolution.

In 1919, George Herbert Walker had organized W.A. Harriman & Co which merged with the British Brown Brothers in 1931. In 1924, Averell Harriman (Skull & Bones, 1913) and Fritz Thyssen, the German industrialist who began funding Hitler in 1923, set up the Union Banking Corp in New York to handle funds supplied to it through Thyssen's Dutch bank for American investment. Prescott Bush, who had been an officer of the W.A. Harriman bank since 1926, was a director of the Union Banking Corp from 1934 through 1943. According to government documents, "all of the shares of the Union Banking Corp., were held for the benefit of members of the Thyssen family."

The federal government did not crack down on the Bush-Harriman/Nazi operation until 1942. After the war, Congressional investigation revealed that Fritz Thyssen's German Steel Trust, Germany's largest industrial corporation [which interlocked with Union Banking Corporation] produced a high percentage of Germany's national output of metal products and explosives. Vesting Orders signed by the Office of Alien Property Custodian, Leo T. Crowley, which were "published in obscure government record books and kept out of the news, explained nothing about the Nazis involved; only that the Union Banking Corporation was run for the 'Thyssen family' of 'Germany and/or Hungary'-- 'nationals...of a designated enemy country.'"

Thank you Pam and others. I shall respond in kind by posting that I enjoy your and others' posts a great deal. We true Americans need to stick together in this time of darkness, as this too shall pass.

As for scot (small caps), at least his stupidity has not cost thousands of young Americans their lives.

Also in scott's (small caps) case, I'm sure the Nevada sun has baked some of his already limited supply of brain matter, so we should try to cut him some slack. Think of him as a slightly malfunctional invalid.

However I feel it is part of my duty as an American to tell you scott (small caps), blind partisanship is not an admirable quality. Politics is not sports. You can blindly cheer for "your team" all the time, it's a free country after all, but when they're getting their asses handed to them over and over, you just look like an obnoxious boor who refuses to accept the reality that your "team" sucks.

Sometimes you have to let that go, do some research independent from the sources who shout the loudest and come to realize what is best for our country.

Here's a clue - normally those who shout the loudest do so because they don't want anyone to hear what the other side has to say (see - O'Reilly, Hannity, et al). If that doesn't turn on a light switch for you, then you're beyond help.

Lastly scott (small caps), lighten up, you'll live longer. There are many people in the world - some of them are rather large people, I'm sure - who would not take kindly to loud mouths who think it is funny to taunt someone for being gay, whether they truly are gay or not.

It is in this context that the new world geo-strategic map is being designed, that the resources of the planet are being re-distributed, that borders are disappearing, that international law is being torn into pieces, that cultural identities are being erased, that spiritual life becomes impoverished...

The analysis of the essence of the globalization process, the military and political doctrines of the United States and other countries, shows that terrorism contributes to a world dominance and the submissiveness of states to a global oligarchy. This means that terrorism is not something independent of world politics but simply an instrument, a means to install a unipolar world with a sole world headquarters, a pretext to erase national borders and to establish the rule of a new world elite. It is precisely this elite that constitutes the key element of world terrorism, its ideologist and its “godfather”. The main target of the world elite is the historical, cultural, traditional and natural reality; the existing system of relations among states; the world national and state order of human civilization and national identity.

Today’s international terrorism is a phenomenon that combines the use of terror by state and non-state political structures as a means to attain their political objectives through people’s intimidation, psychological and social destabilization, the elimination of resistance inside power organizations and the creation of appropriate conditions for the manipulation of the countries’ policies and the behavior of people.

Terrorism is the weapon used in a new type of war. At the same time, international terrorism, in complicity with the media, becomes the manager of global processes. It is precisely the symbiosis between media and terror, which allows modifying international politics and the exiting reality.

In this context, if we analyze what happened on September 11, 2001, in the United States, we can arrive at the following conclusions: 1. The organizers of those attacks were the political and business circles interested in destabilizing the world order and who had the means necessary to finance the operation. The political conception of this action matured there where tensions emerged in the administration of financial and other types of resources. We have to look for the reasons of the attacks in the coincidence of interests of the big capital at global and transnational levels, in the circles that were not satisfied with the rhythm of the globalization process or its direction.
Unlike traditional wars, whose conception is determined by generals and politicians, the oligarchs and politicians submitted to the former were the ones who did it this time.

2. Only secret services and their current chiefs – or those retired but still having influence inside the state organizations – have the ability to plan, organize and conduct an operation of such magnitude. Generally, secret services create, finance and control extremist organizations. Without the support of secret services, these organizations cannot exist – let alone carry out operations of such magnitude inside countries so well protected. Planning and carrying out an operation on this scale is extremely complex.

3. Osama bin Laden and “Al Qaeda” cannot be the organizers nor the performers of the September 11 attacks. They do not have the necessary organization, resources or leaders. Thus, a team of professionals had to be created and the Arab kamikazes are just extras to mask the operation.
The September 11 operation modified the course of events in the world in the direction chosen by transnational mafias and international oligarchs; that is, those who hope to control the planet’s natural resources, the world information network and the financial flows. This operation also favored the US economic and political elite that also seeks world dominance.

The use of the term “international terrorism” has the following goals:
Hiding the real objectives of the forces deployed all over the world in the struggle for dominance and control;
Turning the people’s demands to a struggle of undefined goals against an invisible enemy;
Destroying basic international norms and changing concepts such as: aggression, state terror, dictatorship or movement of national liberation;
Depriving peoples of their legitimate right to fight against aggressions and to reject the work of foreign intelligence services;
Establishing the principle of renunciation to national interests, transforming objectives in the military field by giving priority to the war on terror, violating the logic of military alliances to the detriment of a joint defense and to favor the anti-terrorist coalition;
Solving economic problems through a tough military rule using the war on terror as a pretext. In order to fight in an efficient way against international terrorism it is necessary to take the following steps:
To confirm before the UN General Assembly the principles of the UN Charter and international law as principles that all states are obliged to respect;
To create a geo-strategic organization (perhaps inspired in the Cooperation Organization of Shanghai comprised of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan) with a set of values different to that of the Atlantists; to design a strategy of development of states, a system of international security, another financial and economic model (which would mean that the world would again rest on two pillars);
To associate (under the United Nations) the scientific elites in the design and promotion of the philosophical concepts of the Human Being of the 21st Century.
To organize the interaction of all religious denominations in the world, on behalf of the stability of humanity’s development, security and mutual support.
