What happened to actually debating on a candidates positions on war, taxes and health care? This is important stuff. If the best these mouth-breathers can do is make fun of someone's name, a name that he was given as an infant that he had no choice in, a name that is as common as John or Michael in parts of the world, then obviously they haven't got much. But then, most people with two functioning brainc cells figured that out a long time ago. This is just so stupid! If he had changed his name at some point in the past the right would be slamming him now for trying to hide something, since he didn't, now it's an obvious sign he's a terrorist. God, these people are pathetic!

And, as an aside to the educationally challenged dolt who wrote the sign, moma is a museum in NYC, momma is a female parent.

Another Mitt-stake

Read Larry's post if you think you can stand to. He says what the bigots in the south REALLY think. As awful as it is, he is speaking for all the bigots in the Country. He is their spokeperson. Some scary stuff out there folks, we need to hear it and expose it for what it really is, TRASH.

Another Mitt-stake

Soon to be Navy retired guy: Why else would someone put those two names-Osama/Obama together without the implication that they are easily interchangable? Because they are on two 'different lines, ' doesn't change the meaning.

I've heard from people that they could never vote for Obama because it would be too easy to accidently say Osama, and they didn't want to make the mistake. THAT is ignorant.

Regardless of what this person was implying when making the poster, Mitt Romney just showed how ignorant he is by smiling and posing holding the poster, and surely he should be aware of the implications of it.

BTW, my MIL signs her letters: Momma

Another Mitt-stake

From a Repugnikant we expected ..... ?

They know they're about as welcome in America as wasps at a picnic. Their Oil War is an endless nightmare with an escalating body count, they have destroyed our Constitution, they enable President Stupid and all his ridiculous endeavors, they are getting outed all the time as frauds and phoneys, the American people have figured out their corporate agenda, and the smell of BS has reached astronomical proportions.

Soooooo ..... they bring out the childish personal attacks, of course. The same way 5 year olds make fun of someone's name or appearance. Remember the "fat legs" comments about Hillary made by Ann CoulterGeist? The Osama/Obama comments made famous on Faux Made-Up News? The Edwards haircut sensationalism brought up by all their NeoConJob talking heads?

It's what they do for their audience of unfortunate Neaderthals.

Another Mitt-stake

Get a real story if you want to bash the guy...there must be better than this - there is on every candidate. So - 1) he agreed with it as we understood it to say - an awful thing about Mr. Obama, 2) he agreed with it using the spin (hah!) that you provide and, yet, didn't say or do anything to ensure that everyone understood what he agreed with (meaning he didn't recognize or consider any backlash from it.), or 3) Just didn't pay attention to it all (see last statement from #2).

In none of these instances does Mr. Romney show well. Just another missed opportunity to show some class that is not limited to Mr. Romney. Just imagine how impressed we'd all be if he has said something or, even better, took a pen and corrected the damn sign. We'd all be willing to say that he showed quickness, that he showed dignity, and that he showed decisiveness all of which would have given him points. As long as such people buy into the BS, the lack of specific position statements and the negative attack campaigns, the more the politicians will give them what they want. Only when a majority of the American people demand a change will a change take place. But as long as you have people who will support a person this early in the game simply because on the surface that person represents something meaningless as being a Dem or Repbulican, or other superficial and meaningless quality that defies intelligent choice, the politicians will play to this support with superficial, meaningless and negative campaigns that say a lot while saying nothing. The lady in the picture above apparently supports Romney. She certainly does not support Obama or Clinton. But why? I bet she can't even tell you why except perhaps to say that she is a Republican or that she likes Romney's graying temples. This is how Presidents are elected and these are the people who elect them (on both sides). And then we wonder why candidates won't supply more specific position statements and less garbage coming out of their campaigns. The fault lies not with the politicians but with the American people. The politicians are just the dogs who have been conditioned to salivate when they see hords of voters like the lady above. As it appears to me (to date) the Dem who can do his/her best bashing Bush might get elected while on the Republican side the candidate who can do their best tearing apart Obama or Clinton might get elected. But what does that tell you of the candidates themselves, their positions and their ability to run this country, nothing! And because the Republicans are the very best at the tearing apart bashing game watch for a very tight race in 08 even if many people vote strictly Dem as a vote against Bush.

In the end our political system has become outrageously infantile, corrupt and responsive to what many American people respond too including those who would vote strict party lines on this blog. Nationalism and great pride in the country have given way to self-serving, enthnocentric American Idol style immaturity. The country, its natural beauty, resources and history remains great in my mind, but the people who represent the country today including the general public really do suck. Their maturity has not been able to appreciate or to keep up with the maturity and greatness of the country they live in. Give them a candidate who promises them kool-aide in all the drinking fountains and they'll vote for them.

Another Mitt-stake

Nanalinda, San Antonio, TX (Sent Monday, July 23, 2007 12:57 PM)

I promised you on an earlier thread I would no longer be responding to Wayne. He’s a sick man. I also want to thank you so much for concern. Yes, I have been naive; and I also find it very sad that "we" have to disguise ourselves for fear of backlash.

You are correct; however, I am ONE SAD PERSON, as I have come to the realization that in the year 2007, we "still" have to be afraid of our First Amendment rights!!

God Bless friend!!
Another Mitt-stake

Independent, there is no misinterpretation - America is saying NO to Barak Huessein Obama , Osama Bin Laden. and Mrs. Bill Clinton.WHAT ABOUT THAT DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND. It really is unfortunate that his name is even an issue. Most americans don't have a first or a last name that is of "Pure American" origin. There is no such thing. We are a country of immigrants. Does that make a person with a scottish, british, or even arabic derived name less American? Certainly not. It simply means that their family struggled to come to America from another country. To me, that speaks not against their "Americanism" if you will, but for it.

You would be an arrogant, bigoted, pompous fool if you believe that an arabic derived name has any kind of negative effect on an individual. When you do that, you judge not only that person, but the religion of Islam (which on a whole isn't extremist), the arabic language, and that person's ancestry.

(That goes for your use of Hussein too Larry. Don't think I missed your point. ^.~)

Racism and ethic bigotry should have no place in our elections other than universal condemnation of such concepts. But for that to happen, the people who use such remarks need to accept that they are racists and bigots. Acceptance of a problem is the first step to finding a solution to it.

Alas, our government doesn't seem capable of accepting its mistakes, both past and present. That also seems to apply for our republican presidential hopefuls.

Another Mitt-stake

Not everyone living in Dixie is as impressed with Larry's blowhole by-products as he himself apparently is - really, it's hard for me to believe the guy is actually what he says he is .... or at least, implies - that is a graduate of the Citadel and a retired USAF LTC .... The draft sparked the protests by students and their parents who didn't want to see their kids shoved into a win-less meatgrinder.

And every Neocon that is serving in your beloved Administration received rich kid deferments so they could get out of Vietnam. In fact , the whole debate was an embarassment. Actually I was at dinner with a lot of democtats and they too were disappointed. Not one leader on that stage, except Joe Biden, he actually tried to tell the truth. Not what the liberals wanted to hear. The fact is the questions they picked were lame and we still could not get a straight answer. Good luck in 08, you gonna need it !

Another Mitt-stake

He needs to drop out of the race. He continually makes a fool of himself and is wasting everyones time, not to mention money. What a joke. If we ever stooped this low as a nation and elected a sh#thole like this I think I would move. Oops, we already did. Twice. Hmmm, maybe Romney stands a chance.

Another Mitt-stake

Waiting for October guy: Better hope you aren't counting on your PENSION to be safe, if another Republican President gets elected!! I didn't get into the debate because I'm obviously not gay, lesbian, transgender; nor am I black or a liberal woman. That being said, the response of the people was not that receptive. 3000 questions worldwide, 12 from Charleston ? Not much interest shown here. The people down here simply don't accept that we are defeatist and will walk away from the war on terror. The people at Charleston Air Force Base cretainly don't believe it. There is an overwhelming response to his visit today. Now maybe the people at Ft Jackson are ready to quit, I doubt it. The liberals I saw yesterday were still afraid to call themselves liberals. Why ? Because even they know liberalism is dead. Hillary can call herself a progressive all she wants, the people of SC won't be fooled. The Republican Party is alive and well in SC and across America. The liberals simply don't have a clue , no ideas , no solutions , no suggestions. So MoveOn over and let the GOP lead the way.

Another Mitt-stake

It was not only inappropriate decision that Mitt made, posing for this picture, but also an inappropriate decision by the media to publish it.

Another Mitt-stake

Larry you nutbar.

Paraphrasing Kurt Vonnegut, if you support invading a country that did not attack America just so you can feel more secure, why don't you take a shotgun and blow the heads off all your neighbors who you suspect of being armed? It's the same principle.

Where do people like Larry think the liberals, the "terrorists", the worshippers of a different kind of mythical grandfather in the sky, should go?

There's only one planet Earth. There is no place else for you to send everyone who doesn't agree with you, look like you, act like you, or genuflect like you!

The sooner we all start learning how to be good to each other, the better it will be for everyone. Larry, you have a lot of work to do in this regard.

Keep up the good work though, Larry! You're as nutty and unhinged as ever! Keep showing the world that Republicans are lunatics! You're better and definitely cheaper than several million dollars' worth of Democratic TV ads!

Another Mitt-stake

So Larry...You attempted to tackle everybody else.

How about coming back around to answer my question sir?

Of course as you said-

"I didn't get into the debate because I'm obviously not gay, lesbian, transgender; nor am I black or a liberal woman."

Correct sir, you are a troll. A right-wing troll who when addressed with their own false statements picks and chooses their battles. You sit here only to provoke people with your false statements, and when confronted you cower sir, only to make more lies.

The only thing the GOP leads is, unfortunately folks who don't take the time to learn the facts. Sheep.

I notice that under the "please read" section before posting, it states "We will only approve comments that are directly related to the blog, use appropriate language and are not attacking the comments of others."

Can we punt this troll so everybody else can move on? All his posts start with a flame, and I'm sure many folks here are tired of Larry spouting misinformation. I realize that I am also in fact "attacking the comments" of Larry, but those who insult and demean others while spouting propaganda for their own political party need to have an admin address their posts. Larry serves to add no constructive thought to any of the discussion here at the N-hole, but rather drags what should be a community of people -appropriately- discussing these topics instead of trolling to incite a flame war.

I apologize I even got sucked into this flame war mess. But it's time for the admins to either address this issue with a post, or stick to the rules of the board and no longer allow Larry to use such inflammatory remarks.

(Sidenote, I apologize Terry, I spent some time in York and you are correct, Charleston minus Larry isn't all that bad. I should not judge a whole city on one of it's citizens lack of maturity. That was my mistake.)

Another Mitt-stake

J. You might as well linked to a Faux News or the Washington Times or some other Neocon propaganda outfit!!!! Thanks for the laugh!

Here's a piece from an article about the urban myth of anti-war protestors spitting on Nam Vets with a link to the article from Slate Magazine. Turns out a guy researched this myth and wrote a book about it:

"Lembcke uncovered a whole lot of spitting from the war years, but the published accounts always put the antiwar protester on the receiving side of a blast from a pro-Vietnam counterprotester. I like Edwards, his universal healthcare proposal is the best.

And I'll debate you on Edwards with one caveat...no superficial ad hominem crap about haircuts and big houses. I believe it is possible for people from humble beginnings that achieve wealth can be sincere in their passion to help those who are less fortunate. And rich liberals are entitled to enjoy their own wealth as much as rich conservatives.

So, I'll debate you on their stances on the issues and performance as politicians only.
