OK...better discuss the serious news for a bit...I'm grateful as always for John Dean's insights on "current events." I especially appreciated his thoughts about Tony Snow's ability to so seamlessly "tow the party line". Tony may not actually have much of a clue about what's REALLY going on.

I'm at a loss for any other words regarding the situation with Pat Tillman. I only hope that his family gets the answers they need and deserve.

Switching gears big time here, was anyone else besides me waiting for the parrot to take a dump on the guy's shoulder? Or, am I the only sick freak here; or at least the one honest enought to admit it? ;)

OK...since it's Friday night, I once again leave you with some "words of wisdom and inspiration." Well thank goodness for a thunderstorm starting at 8:45 PM. We have satellite tv and reception can be iffy when there's a thunderstorm. I managed to dvr up until the end of the Harry Potter segment, and then poof, there was a complete signal loss.

Well, I guess even KO needs to take a break from the harsh realities of life...
It occurs to me, many of us are prodding Keith on, simply because he is the only true, rational thinking person\voice, we can look to\listen to, these days.
Some others have their moments, however, we can usually trust that KO will maintain a balance of good judgment.
I am most likely one of the few people who has not read, or watched Harry Potter stuff - so, it gets boring for me to watch and hear Keith dwell on it. To each their own, I say.
Now, I have to respond to the vp's heart thingy...
First, I must say - I have to REALLY use a great deal of control, NOT to write what I feel about it. I will simply say this: Perhaps they will install a REAL heart in the man - 'electronic', or otherwise.
Yesterday, some wrote about the upcoming Congressional Recess - break, and, I 'second' that interaction.
I am one who is so fed up with this Administration's using the 'breaks' as a license to do whatever they wish! Another one of those; "There oughta be a law" moments - to ensure that at a minimal, there will always be some form of Congress in session, at all times. Now, having written this - it concerns me to what extent some people would use\misuse this policy\law. Invariably, there are always those who will use whatever tools at their disposal to misuse power. You know the laws of physics - for every positive, there is a negative... and so on. It is all too true, today.
There used to be laws in place, which this Congressional Leadership, is having to re-institute - simply because the people who were in power, changed them to suit 'their' p.Resident and his goals...
I remember when there used to be laws which prevented huge monopolies from being created - now, there are huge monopolies which are taking over, making their own rules and regs., and doing the bidding of whomever they darn well please - even to the point of allowing other countries to buy out America.
And, anyone who gets disgruntled, disagrees, or believes I am creating something untrue hear, just check it out.

When will the producers of Countdown quit wasting our time and Mr. Olbermann's talents with the stupid and irrelevant segments that have absolutely nothing to do with news? I have found that after @ 15 minutes into the show, there is nothing worth watching and I turn off the TV. I do not understand, with the vital need for truthful and competent reporting, you do not change the format of Countdown and provide your viewers with meaningful information and analysis instead of the irritating and meaningless dribble that fills up the news hour. How about being truly bold and allow the news to be the news and not half news half entertainment? I am really frustrated and tired of trying to find solid information on the TV. What a waste of what could be a truly informative medium. You wonder why the public is so uninformed? Take a look at your show.

I have a question for everyone.. on 9/11 after the plane hit the second WTC our National Emergency Broadcast System Warning wasn't on my TV to alarm us that this country was under attack.. I know not everyone was watching their TVs at home, I know I was and my sister and many of my friends.. I never seen it.. did any of you? Also if this was the case why were the children in that School Bush was at not asked to take cover? A friend had brought this up to me tonight.. I know they started grounding planes but what if those planes were going to attack somewhere else? Some other major city.. Not everyone did have a TV or any other kind of warning.. Why didn't the Sirens go off? Grounding them would not have made any difference would it have? Most large Airports are in Major Cities making them all targets.. GESH!!! Just asking if anyone else had it on their TVs that were watching.. Today the Warning System was on my TV off and on all day.. I finally figured out that if I hit the exit button it would stop.

Now worries, Ro, the blog moderator is a stealth agent. Never know when s/he will appear and run an update. It is doubtful that your posts are rejected it just, on occasion, takes a while for them to appear.

I have a theory that this database uses distributed servers located in various time zones. You'll notice that, sometimes, you'll have read through a whole thread only to return later and find comments you'd "missed" appearing sprinkled throughout. The comments are listed in ascending EST time stamps so if the west coast is run after CST, for instance, those west coast entries will "magically" appear before CST entries that had already been visible. That's my theory, anyway.

We all keep trying to figure out how to use the blog effectively. Keep the faith. This is a relatively new blog - been around for less than a year. I think that they are still trying to figure out how to best use it.

It certainly offers the best topics than any of the other MSNBC blogs.

I gave up on this blog several days ago when it appeared to be going the same way other blogs have when they became troll-controlled and mainly consisted of a series of attacks by nut jobs, responses, counter-attacks, and counter-responses and impossible to find useful information. I have been told that things are better now, so I'll give it one more try.

It was concise, well presented and directly links this criminal activity to the heart of the firing of US Attorneys. It is the first half of the show, so it takes about 15 minutes to view it. Well worth the time to see it.

I have not read are watched Harry Potter either not that I ever won't, but don't mind it brought up for the people who are interested, I might be one day who know's.

Kieth's show being unique as it is leaves his audience (fan base) wanting more, which can't be found anywhere else. With people & advertiser's being so diverse I accept the few celeberty & humor segment's as just that. Being so hard to find more of what we want, Msnbc should in my opinion make an offer to steal Alan Colmes from Fox, & give him his own show before are after Countdown aires. Let him also show Fox what Fair & Balanced realy is. Hannity just makes fun of him anyway.

Also just my opinion congress, senate, nor the administration should be able to recess or vacation while the men & women they sent to fight are still fighting an dying 4 1/2 yrs later because of the lack of leadership, political,& diplomatic skill's, oh & let's not forget all the political games.

News Flash (lol) - it looks like the Bush Administration isn't just hiding, deleting or "executive priviledging" away the truth - they're now STOPPING AND PREVENTING the truth. One of the measures of how well it's going in Iraq <snark> is how much electricity the Iraqis have access to (it's been LESS than pre-war levels ever since we've been there to "help" them).

As the amount of electricity dropped to 1-2 hours per day (from the 5-6 hours per day earlier this year), they have simply STOPPED reporting on electricity availability in their monthly status report! Excuses they give for their reporting changes are incredibly lame.

This seems to be the same tactic they imployed to deny all the other bad news they don't want, such as news of soldiers killed (they prohibit video of returning coffins), soldiers wounded (they recently announced a prohibition to any news coverage), or even car bombings or IEDs(a newly announced policy prohibiting video of these events). Yup - when it's bad news BushCo doesn't want people to know about - just block all the facts and information.

Wayne - you should be congratulating and even thanking the liberal democrats that did serve in the past, and are serving even now in Iraq - saving your sorry ass (and those of your white house heros) from fulfilling an obligation that you seem to hold so near and dear - Oh! of course I forgot; you're disabled and not 'fit for duty'. Fact is, I see veterans every working day of my life and you won't find alot of support for the war in Iraq at this point among that population. Would it be "fair and square" to say that Barry Bonds lost plenty of home runs based on the swirling winds at Candlestick Park, (ask Willie Mays) where he played from 1993-2000, until the new (and BEAUTIFUL) ball park was opened, whose fences extend much further than 296 feet?

Would it be "fair and square" to say that Pete Rose's gambling problems have absolutely NOTHING to do with Barry Bonds and it's an absurd argument?

I have MANY more questions but I would like your answers on these first, and before I spend any more time countering your post!!

Remember these things, for they are REALLY important:

1) Pete Rose broke baseball's ONLY cardinal rule: no gambling on baseball. Rose, who was one of my favorite players denied it, in the face of a mountain of evidence, for almost twenty years.

Barry Bonds has broken NO rules of baseball, period. Even if people want to continue to whine about it, he has never tested positive for steroids, nor has he ever failed one for banned substances. Never. He STILL has never tested positive for steroids.

2) Pete Rose went to prison for tax evasion, not gambling on baseball.

Barry Bonds investigation regarding BALCO is for possible perjury, NOT for using steroids. The guy in jail is there for contempt of court - not for steroids themselves - BECAUSE he will not talk about Barry Bonds. Kinda like when Ken Starr jailed Susan McDougal because she refused to testify to what he wanted her to say about Bill Clinton.

3) Jason Giambi is NOT cooperating with Congress; he is cooperating with MLB, who is conducting the investigation regarding the use of steroids in the game.

Please, if you're going to post "facts," make sure they ARE facts.

Pete Rose, regardless of what happens to Bonds, will NEVER deserve to be re-instated to the game - he broke the ONE rule that EVERY baseball player learns when they FIRST step into a clubhouse, and he broke it with impugnity.

Bonds never broke a rule of the game, at all. People don;t like him because he's not the nicest guy in the game. Well, get over it - he'll never be as big a jerk as Ty Cobb was, and HE'S in the Hall.

I have a question for everyone.. on 9/11 after the plane hit the second WTC our National Emergency Broadcast System Warning wasn't on my TV to alarm us that this country was under attack.. I know not everyone was watching their TVs at home, I know I was and my sister and many of my friends.. I never seen it.. did any of you? Also if this was the case why were the children in that School Bush was at not asked to take cover? A friend had brought this up to me tonight.. I know they started grounding planes but what if those planes were going to attack somewhere else? Some other major city.. Not everyone did have a TV or any other kind of warning.. Why didn't the Sirens go off? Grounding them would not have made any difference would it have? Most large Airports are in Major Cities making them all targets.. GESH!!! Just asking if anyone else had it on their TVs that were watching.. Today the Warning System was on my TV off and on all day.. I finally figured out that if I hit the exit button it would stop.

KUDOS TO YOU!! As I was born and raised in San Francisco, worked at Candlestick Park, got to know Barry's father Bobby very well, who was a class act (may he rest in peace) and who was so kind to me when I began working at "The Stick" as a 15-year-old teenager.

I am very tired and extremely irritated that people have convicted Barry Bonds for something he has NEVER tested positive for or admitted to. I become more angry when people use “The Pete Rose Offense” to further their point. That point is? Non-existent!! It's nice to see someone in Tennessee defending him for the same reasons, the facts!!

Ro and Brenda - there are innumerable questions about 9/11 which have never been answered. My favorite is how Mohammed Atta's intact passport ended up being immediately recovered when there wasn't much of anything of those buildings that was readily identifiable. Somehow it left the plane, missed the jet fuel fireball, found an open window and just floated away so it could be found. Even the black boxes, meant to survive impact, weren't that lucky.

I'm still wondering how those buildings didn't tip over, but collapsed onto their bases. There are demolition companies who spend months preparing buildings for demolitions like that. And how exactly did those buildings collapse at free fall speed as though there were no contents or floors inside?

There are people who were eyewitnesses to things like bomb sniffing dogs taken out of the building not long before it happened, the security cameras being shut down the weekend before and many other important issues that were not listened to..

Not everyone is physically fit for service, and despite the myths that emerged from WW2 the Military has a long list of what might appear to be minor problems which disquallify one for service. Howard Dean's back problem for example.

For every soldier in the field there are a about 16 non combat positions, these days medical waivers for such positions are not uncommon.

And the fact remains that the Nard's propaganda list is deliberately misleading and does not reflect the realities of military service by party, not even among elected officials.

The List of who served found at the Veterans Administration shows that more Republicans of the 108th Congress served than Democrats.

Once again as of 2003 the Military was 60% Republican compared to 13% Democrat with Liberals barely showing up at all.

Thank's that was another thing i was woundering about, was the length of the field's thank's for posting them. Now that I know that, we can't messure how far over the fence each of Babes HR's went. Like you said what is fair, one can claim that there's better knowledge to apply to HR hitting, pitcher's today may or may not be harder to hit for some of the player's mentioned, today there's better training, maybe the Bat's the Ball's are different from year to year. As i stated i don't take anything away at all from the other player's & was also a fan of Hank Aaron. What i do know is that when i was a young boy in the 60's Babe was who most talked of so i'm partial to him. I would still like to know if possible how many games each played. Not that it would matter since what it comes down to for me are my boyhood memories.

It would be great if there was a way found to insure that steriod's aren't being used in any sport.

I agree!! I also love Hank Aaron and think he is a class act; I also have researched a lot on Babe Ruth. I will say that if the Babe were playing today, he would not be a role model for our children.

His late night drinking and carousing caused him to miss many practices. He was also insubordinate on multiple occasions. These are not qualities I would want my children to learn from a "role model". Babe was a great player, but much of what he did was never exposed because he was brilliant with the media and the media, in turn, loved him. I take NOTHING away from Babe Ruth; however, I counter posts like Paul's because I DO like to compare apples to apples. Now you hypocrites get out there and volunteer for service at the VA, no ones stopping you and since you find it so easy to dis someone else because they lost much of the use of their hands we can assume that you are in good physical condition.

I went to college with Barry's Dad, Bobby Bonds, and his Aunt Rosie Bonds, they were both great athletes! Bobby really loved football, and I thought that would be the sport he would get involved with, he was good at both sports. Rosie was a 'gold-medalist' in the Olympics. Both Bobby and Rosie were very gentle, caring people. Both had a quiet kind of humility, and I had a good deal of admiration for them.
I cannot fathom Barry being anything less - it occurs to me, if he is not so friendly, and carefree as his father and his aunt - maybe it has something to do with all the turmoil in his life. I imagine the death of his father hit him very hard, it did me.

Because, I watched with a kind of shock, as some of our military in Iraq were doling out $20 bills like it was candy, to the Iraq's. I didn't make notes of it - I would guess it was about 6 mos. to a year into the 'conflict.' Did anyone else see this? I called my Senator(s) and asked what the H3ll is going on? Isn't that money supposed to go toward the 'war' effort? And... then, they reported there was millions of dollars not accounted for - is this why? They didn't want Americans to know they were giving out OUR currency, like candy?
It brought to my mind, movies which I had watched, where the soldiers were giving out candy to the children of the war-torn country, they invaded. Like that is supposed to make them feel alright about the killings going on. The 'saviors' were here, now! At the time, I was kind of dumbed down, thinking, the U.S. really does make a difference in the lives of those who have been bombed out of their homes, lost their families, and basically lived on the streets of 'anywhere' war zone. Damn 'propaganda', anyway! War really is hell! Not, some fantasy television movie!
I did agree with World War II because I understood it. I understood that we really had been attacked by the 'enemy' at the time. I do NOT understand this war - conflict, 'civil' war - whatever it is, in Iraq!

Given that and the 2nd rate wooden bats used then versus a baseball today and the advancement of the bats today, no modern day player had the power that the Babe had regardless of fence length at the time. Pitchers in Babe's era were just as good and in some ways better then pitchers today.

Wayne, I'm a "RIGHTARD" and I grasp the simple fact that al Quida in Iraq is a name that our administration GAVE to a group of folks in Iraq. In June 2004, Donald Rumsfeld himself said in a Pentagon briefing that Zarqawi (you know that leader of al Qaeda in Iraq) “may very well not have sworn allegiance to [bin Laden]." “Maybe he disagrees with him on something, maybe because he wants to be ‘The Man’ himself and maybe for a reason that’s not known to me.” Rumsfeld added that, “someone could legitimately say he’s not Al Qaeda.” In September 2006, it was reported that Zarqawi had "rebuffed" attempts by bin Laden to recruit him. He repeated this in October and said that there was no real information that Zarqawi had ever "pledged allegiance" to bin Laden or that he was even involved with al Qaeda. Miraculously, about two weeks later, Zarqawi "pledged his allegiance" to bin Laden.

You really do need to read and listen to something besides propaganda and scare-news. You're being had, Wayne. BTW, you do know that there are "al Qaeda in America," right? Bill, Rochester - you've made an astute observation regarding Wayne's obsession with all things war-like and further, his deluded perception that democrats and liberals are responsible for all of our national failures over say the last 50-100 years.

I made the statement quite awhile back that Ho Chi Minh was a powerful political lightening rod and national icon in Vietnam that not only spear-headed the overthrow of the French after 100 years of domination, but even past his death in 1969 continued to inspire the forces of the North well beyond our departure beginning in 1973 and finalized in 1975.

For better or worse, Uncle Ho's position as a singular historical figure in Vietnam remains firmly in place today. We had been there for well over 10 years, but Wayne actually blames the Democratic congress for losing the war via the refusal to continue funding that disaster & our 'pre-mature' pull-out (apparently that made the Democrats communist sympathizers in Wayne's world - 58,000 American dead and maybe a million Vietnamese were not enough). So much for good vs. evil in a black and white world.

He has a virulent hatred for all things non-Republican and that surely shapes his agenda & colors his entire political and cultural worldview - this extends to politics, religion, and any other topic under discussion. With such a predictable and jaundiced view, who could expect to be taken seriously?? His accusations seem to be escalating lately.....

First Gonzales testified "in hindsight, I wish I had brought in the Deputy Attorney General". Yet the DAY, after McNulty resigned Gonzales testified "Well again you have to remember at the end of the day, the recommendations reflected the views of the Deputy Attorney General. He signed off on the names and he would know better than anyone else, anyone else in this room. Again, the Deputy Attorney General would know best about the qualifications and experiences of the minds it’s a community and he signed off on the names."

It is the farthset thing from their minds. I'm sure that those in Iraq are having just as good a laugh over a few brews as did those in Vietnam about all the arguements in the States as to the percentage of military who are democrat vs. republican. What a pointless and stupid piece of information (which party members have the highest percentage of military service). Frankly, I can't speak for those in Iraq but those serving in Vietnam would have just as soon fragged those arguing over the politics of a war here in the States as they did some of their idiot Captains and 1st Leuts'. I am not inclined to disbelief of how dire things are in that region, but how is the following information, supposedly a quote from the UN spokesperson, even possible??

"Women are gang-raped, often in front of their families and communities. In numerous cases, male relatives are forced at gun point to rape their own daughters, mothers or sisters."

How can someone be forced at gunpoint to rape someone else? I didn't know fear and revulsion produced the physical state necessary to rape. I want to understand what's going on.

I was, and probably still will be, going to D.C. on 09-15-2007 to protest the U.S. presence in Iraq. However, I find I must publicly protest the involvement in this protest by any group involved in attempting to free Abu-Jamal from prison. Attempts by those to free him from prison have nothing to do with this anti-war protest, and have made me seriously question whether or not I want to be seen at any event in any way "sponsored" by such groups.
Abu-Jamal is a convicted killer, whose victim was a police officer, killed in the line of duty. Why did it take 20 years for him to tell his side of the story? I am no fan of Abu-Jamal's, and firmly believe that he is exactly where he needs to be: in prison. While there may be extenuating circumstances surrounding this incident, what has never been disputed is the fact that Abu_Jamal shot the officer first in the back, and later in the face, with a gun owned and registered to Abu-Jamal himself.
So, let this be my public disavowal of association with anything to do that is pro Abu-Jamal. I will most likely attend this anti-war protest, with my girlfriend and our daughter. However, should anything "unpeaceful" occur, you can bet I'll be on my way out of there as fast as my legs can carry me. I have no desire to be shot by anyone, and you can bet that GWB will have his spies out in force, taking pictures, videos, and whatever else he can do to have any and all of us posted as "sympathetic to terrorists" in every government file and database he can find. In fact, I wouldn't put it past him to have armed military forces present, with orders to fire under certain circumstances, which will, of course, be "deciderered" by himself, and unknown to every one else until the last minute.

It would be nice to see several million people in attendance at this protest. It is necessary for GWB and his cronies to see that an extremely large number of citizens are unhappy with the actions in Iraq. I would consider it an honor to see CA, Pam, et al, in attendance, if our paths should cross.

Here's hoping that a peaceful protest will occur. See you there!

Now why that works if it does is because the Iraqi citizens that don't want us there are the so callled "insurgents" that have been now named "al-Quida as of about last October or November", if someone were to go back and look at old news casts you will see the clever change from insurgency to al-Quida last year prior to or around the election.
The psychology of labeling your enemy is interesting also as it stirs up more fear to call the former insurgents..al-Quida (that never in surged from anywhere basically than being a bunch of Iraqis pissed off at us for occupying their country)

Take a look back to last year.The troops living with these guys is dangerous but have some effect because

That still does not change the murderous claims we have given and why Congress keeps appropriating money to keep us there.Don't quite see anything in the American Constitution about being involved in civil wars in Iraq.And sense we were never attacked by them you have to question any reason for being there.
To my knowledge the Constitution is the backbone of how we run the Country.
Course they think Executive order is and piss on the Constitution we go a different Rule book.The book of Rover.Lets piss on it as much as we can and stick it to em Dubyass with that deficit and hang that on the Democratic Congress on our way out.

Saw a great fire in the parking lot one afternoon.Some tailgater left his hibachi under his SUV.Forgot about the gas tank.Burned his and the two cars beside him down to nothing. Charred. Before Al-Quida ,CA ,and Troop 177 wasn't there.I hope CA like that and the following which the names were removed to protect whomever.Kind of an American Pie Story.

One time on a Explorer Scout Camperoree(circa 1961or62 early 60's) at a congressman's from South Carolina by the name of Floyd Spence who had some property near a lake a fellow scout and myself(well more myself) accidentally did cause a tremendous grass fire that took about 60 Scouts with shovels,pine burroughs,rakes ect to finally get out after burning about 4 or 5 acres I reckon.
You know the old fork stick and chicken over the fire routine to cook.We couldn't get the fire going. I always carried a little kerosene for back up and told my buddy step way from the fire.Well all hell broke loose with the wind and the place was a blaze quick.

After the fire site went out we went back to our camp site which was ground zero.There amongst the ash was a charred chicken that had been nuked into looking like a charred sparrow. Sort of,pathetic looking little thing.Looked like the head of a burned match.
The Post had no links to al-Quida though a lot did go to Nam and some didn't come back.

It was one of the many times my explorer adviser/scout leader wanted to lynch me.I did not start that fire on purpose sir.
Yea that guy Spence was quite a figure down there changed from Democrat to Republican.Maybe I have some deep seated Freudian disdain for liars and folks who tax the poor and have em fight amongst each other to stay rich.Funny thing is even the poor Republicans
buy in to it to be part of the herd or claim to be more American.

(because of the wind) will always be up for debate. He finished with 660 so that's a long way from 800/900. In those days the ball wasn't wound as tight .. another debate. In Coors Field he may have hit 1000 because of the altitude. In Babe's day a ball that bounced over the fence was a homer. Now it's a ground rule double. And the balls were bigger, softer and not as easy to catch with those almost child-like mitts. It's hard to compare era to era. Aaron is the all-time leader in most major catagories and never had a huge HR season. He was just consistent. In the 1970's a slugger shot for a .275 AVG, 30 HR's and 100 RBI. Now it's not a big deal to hit 50 or 60. In my own mind Maris probably still holds the single season record of 61, which was a fluke year for him. That's why people were hot when he passed Ruth's 60. The McGwire/Sosa battle was fun but eventually that would change for me. It started all of the doubts about player credibility. Palmiero. Canseco. Giambi. People count Griffey Jr. out but he's 12 shy of 600 and missed two full seasons (altogether) with injuries. He says he wants to play 3 more years. Healthy, he could get 700. The positive on Griffey is he's never been mentioned in the steroid mess. Then there's A-Rod, who is the likely candidate to breaks Bonds' record, which I think will hit the 800 mark.

I guess the greatest thing about baseball or any sport is that everything is up for debate. Who's the best ever?

At old Crosley Field in Cincy I saw Reds player Tony Perez (Hall of Famer) hit a ball completely out of the ballpark, over the wall and 30 foot screen, over Western Avenue and landed on the exit ramp coming off of Interstate 75. That was 1970 and the beginning of the BIG RED MACHINE. From that moment on I followed EVERY Perez box score until he retired about 20 years later. Man I love baseball.

Yes B A, and as I stated, "Croix De Candlestick" pins, which were handed out to only the best and most diehard of Giants fans. After an extra inning game at Candlestick, any fan who braved the elements and stayed for the whole game was given the coveted pin. Candlestick Park's conditions past 10 o clock and the 9th inning at night were harsh and unforgiving. To own a Croix De Candlestick pin is a badge of honor that tells the world, "I love my Giants"

Great post Paul, as it has become very evident you love the game of baseball as I do. You did neglect to mention Barry Bonds missed the 2005-2006 season due to injury though. You also failed to mention Barry's 73-homer season was also a "fluke" as his homerun average is 41 and consistently in the 30's and 40's since he began playing in 1986. I'll forgive you though - LOL!!

I do believe A-Rod will pass Barry Bonds and Barry Bonds stated, "I hope A-Rod hits 100 this season and 1000 in his career".

I hear you and I respect you for your love of the game. Also, I HATED your "BIG RED MACHINE", although ONLY because my Giants were not so good in the 70's (well, they sucked actually) but I always loved them and NEVER walked out on ONE game) and Candlestick was wicked!! Anyway, Maris at 61 is cool if it is EVER PROVED Bonds (or McGuire)ARE guilty!!

PSS: Paul, I think we have broken ground here on a friendship, as when you first came on, we both said some "not so nice" things to each other.

The one thing that could jeopardize this is calling my city, "Frisco". NO ONE and I mean NO ONE who is a native San Franciscan calls it that and you may fall victim to some “pranks”. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble by having some bratty teenagers give you wrong directions to Fisherman’s Wharf when you’re a block away (I did this MANY times as a teenager – not nice but REALLY funny then), i.e. “How did I end up in San Jose or Oakland?” We call it either "The City" or "San Francisco". "Frisco" reeks of tourism and we don't like it!! Now where a sweat shirt that says “Fisherman’s Wharf”, “San Francisco” or “Alcatraz while wearing shorts and referring to it my city as “Frisco” – look out, could be dangerous to your vacation!! You may wear a Giants or 49ers sweat shirt as this IS appropriate!!

Also, growing up and even today, but to a much lesser degree, boys/men have called me "Bignardi" instead of "Pam", like I'm "one of the guys". I hope that's why you have done this twice now, as that would be ok. My dad had four daughters and called me "his only son" because I loved AND understood sports!! My sisters were "girls" big time growing up!! My male childhood friends called me "Bignardi" and some of my male adult friends do today.

I hope it's one of the above!!

I know that I will be viewed as a bad guy along with Wayne, Scott and Larry for this post, but its just something I need to say. I typically enjoy your posts. I have posted only a few times on here, and always in response to some stupid ass statement by Wayne or Scott.

I was troubled by your response to the post by Paul Gardner concerning Barry Bonds. Please reread your response. It appears that you are, in some way, trying to turn Paul's statement into some sort of racial statement. He's merely pointing out that Bond's has eclipsed/will eclipse records by people who didn't use performance enhancing drugs. Please note that 4 of the 5 are black.

It is certainly your right, and that of John in Nashville, to be fans of Barry Bonds, but don't begrudge those who believe that he has cheated. I personally don't care. All I have against him is the sissy throw he made from left field in the Divisional championship series against the Braves which allowed a run to score which won the game and series. That was pre steroid Barry and his arms were less like tree trunks than they would be later.

Do you really belive that he never used steroids? Did you ever see him before he came to SF? There were no rules against using steroids when he used them, and he did. He never had a + test, but he used them. It might have been better for him to have just said that he did, but doesn't, and hasn't since whenever he last did. But he continues to deny, just like the man you, and I, so loath, George Bush, and his entire administration.

Just say you like Barry and wish him well in his quest to break Aaron's record. He will any day now. Just don't personally attack those who think he's a cheater and still denies it. Hopefully A-Rod will eclipse Bond's record in 5 years or so and all of this will be moot.

A further indication that your response to Paul was more personal than it should have been was the "learn to spell the city you live in." Implying that old Paul disagrees with your opinion and so is ignorant, not just capable of a typo, pretty easy to leave an N out of Cincinnati, I do stuff like that all the time. Pointing that out had nothing to do with your response to Paul's post. Ironic coming from someone who once related to us that your hero, and mine, president Bill Clinton was a "Road's Scholar."

Just lighten up a little, we don't want to see you adled to the point that you want to quit blogging here again. We need you, and everyone else who makes this a must read for me every day.
