I love the fact that "real" Americans were able to submit questions of the candidates. I also thought the snowman was a pretty ingenious way of asking about global warning. Mitt needs to get over himself. I would be really surprised if a Republican made it to the oval office after '43' -- he'd have to be amazing, and that's not Mitt.

One of the morning radio show hosts that I listen to has been promoting a 'GRIP' campaign. It stands for Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians. If we keep throwing the bums out of office after one term, then they have less time to be thoroughly corrupted. So here's how it goes.

During the next election in 2008, we all hold our noses and all vote Democratic. In 2010, we give the democratic president a Republican house. In 2012, we all hold our noses and all vote Republican. In 2014, we give the republican president a Democratic house.

In the senate, because of the six year terms, we just vote against the incumbent -- it's not as neat as the House is when every one is up for re-election every other year.

Another advantage, the stock market loves a divided government -- when Congress is one party and the president is the other.

Once we get all the 'old' fat cat politicians out, pork barrel spending is harder to accomplish. Maybe, just maybe, we can get a country of the people and for the people, run by the people.

Since it involves half of the country holding their nose every other election, it'll never get done. But wouldn't it be nice?

And, his denomination is very 'anti' most anything except the man rules the house, the country, the world, women should remain at home, "barefoot and pregnant" mentality.
So, why are 'snow' people a problem, really? Maybe because the image helps confront us with some of the real problems in the world - like, "global warming" climate change, and the environment.
If there is no humor involved, then, there should be no person allowed in the debates who doesn't have a good sense of humor.
Or, just let 'em run rampant, like our p.Resident, and do whatever they will, however they 'will it' - like just ignore the Constitution - as in, "this too shall pass." NOT in my lifetime, if I have anything to say about it.

BAGHDAD - "The Iraqi government has refused to take control of more than 2,000 U.S.-funded reconstruction projects, a move that could jeopardize the country’s credit line and cost American taxpayers, according to a report by an American watchdog agency.

The Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction said the government here initially agreed to take over the projects but the transfers stalled about a month after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki took office in May 2006.

That forced U.S. officials to turn the reconstruction to local officials or to commit more money to keep them running.

The report, which was dated Wednesday, found that no completed projects had been transferred to the national government since June 30, 2006. It said 2,362 completed projects valued at $5.3 billion were pending as of May 31.

The Washington-based agency warned that delays in transferring the projects meant less collateral for the Iraqi government in seeking loans “and could result in additional sustainment expenses for the U.S. governmental agencies that completed the projects.”

The report singled out Finance Minister Bayan Jabr, who it said had changed government conditions for the transfers, effectively halting the process at the national level in July 2006.

Jabr and other Finance Ministry representatives could not be reached for comment, and al-Maliki’s spokesman Ali al-Dabbagh said he had no information about the report."

I like most of your posts, but, I must disagree with you - Re: Senator Byrd: Yes, he is old... and, is close to retiring - however, he remains one of the great "orators" of our Legislative Body - He is the
longest serving Senator, I think, in the history of the U.S. Senate, and will reach his last term in office, this session. Let him leave with pride and dignity.

Also, I was just as outraged as he, about the killing practices of those who promote dog fights, and had to turn away from the news coverage of it... because they showed the dogs fighting, and hauling away the corpses of the dogs who 'lost' their battle.

I further submit, more people should be just as outraged by this kind of cruel, and inhumane treatment of "mans best friend."
If, we become so calloused toward such activity, and critical of those who oppose it - albeit a Senator - we lose the deepest core values we have as a Nation.
Dogs are intended as 'domestic' pets, or for breeding purposes, NOT for someones' foul sense of pleasure and joy - thrill of making a fast 'buck' and, laughter, glee at the senseless slaughtering of innocence.

Here in Indiana we have had Dan Burton, golf pro, as a congressman for years. He makes me sick, all smug and self important. He missed 27 votes (not sick, golfing!) in January and no one here even complained! We (voters) let him get away with it by not expecting more from him. I will vote for anyone BUT him from now on. If he wins again in two years at least I will know I didn't contribute to putting him back in office.

I posted almost the same thing awhile back, saying we should vote out "all" incumbent's till they get the message. Making the good suffer for the bad like some of the laws they place on the people do.

Since then I thought more about it, not sure what other problem's that might create. Maybe if more voter's cared and thought more about the vote they cast, as most of us here do instead of looking at the voting process as just another chore that they rush in to do, many even forget and when you ask they say oh was that today.

Maybe if their was more actual oversight including more over the executive branch with stronger serious consequences. Instead of some member's on these committee's that worry about party damage or maybe getting cought later in the precedent they help set.

"My church has long ago given up that practice" was Mitt Romney's response to Chris Matthews' inquiry about polygamy back when the television series "Big Love" was getting a lot of coverage and Romney later made remarks about his personal distaste for the very concept of polygamy. As a former temple recommend holding Mormon for over a decade, I don't know what to make of Romney's remarks, but something is definitely wrong here. It was my decision not to remain a member of the Mormon church because I found I could not accept certain Mormon doctrines, (they don't lay everything on the table initially, so it takes a while to come in contact with everything the Mormon church actually teaches), but I've never felt "anti-Mormon." We practice freedom of religion in this country. I found the Mormons overwhelmingly to be exemplary Christians in their daily lives and my personal experience was, overall, extremely positive. I think Mormon people are a tremendous force for good in the world. I do believe that a Mormon could be a great president precisely because of their profound commitment to the principle of free agency, which is viewed as an endowment from God to every human being. But it has to say something about Romney's character and his suitability to serve as the President of the United States that he chose to go beyond the accurate statement that the official Mormon church abandoned the practice of polygamy long ago, to make remarks about how abhorrent he finds polygamy to be personally. The official Mormon church may have abandoned the practice of polygamy during this period in U.S. history, but their very concept of heaven is a polygamous design and that teaching has not changed. Mormon men who are judged to be worthy of the highest blessings God has to offer the faithful in heaven will live forever producing spiritual progeny with their multiple wives. He can't have it both ways. Governor Romney may not practice polygamy in the 21st century United States since it is illegal (though some of his ancestors apparently did for a time) but if he is keeping the covenants he would make as a good Mormon, he knows polygamy is Heavenly Father's plan for eternity. As long as my creator-bestowed free agency to choose for myself what I will believe and how to live is not interfered with, I don't have a problem with how many wives (or virgins) a man believes he will be rewarded with in heaven (if he doesn't harm others to obtain them.) But I don't want fundamentalist Islamists, fundamentalist Christians, or anyone else instilling their personal religious beliefs into my life. I like living under the undiluted Constitution of the United States, with the inalienable rights. So, it's not Mitt Romney's Mormonism that is the problem. It's his obvious willingness to spin and manipulate the facts in order to achieve his objective -- in this case, becoming the leader of the free world. We've learned that lesson, right?? "Fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." Spoken like a true patriot, President Bush. (Yeah, right.)

Could a Mormon be a good and desirable president of the United States? Yes. Is Mitt Romney that Mormon? No way. He must have missed his Primary Sunday school class when they taught the principle of honesty.

I've noted that news stories on MSNBC contain a lot of doubled words, repeating of blocks of letters in a single word, and the appearance of two sentences with portions missing running together as one sentence.
This sort of thing is not so uncommon on the net but MSNBC seems to have the highest incidence.

I first really took notice when a post of mine showed up with an apparent typo, but looking at the keyboard I realized that such a typo was not physically possible, even for those who can use all their fingers when typing.

What gives?

My experience with Mormons has been quite different than most. I find the religion to be exculsive, not inclusive. If you are not a Mormon you don't really matter much. As a matter of fact if you are a woman you don't really matter much to them. I cannot vote for him or Rudy, hell even Rudy's kids won't vote for him. If Newt gets in the fray, (I think he will, his ego won't let him stay out) then we all can sit back and see who gets the most mud slinged at them. It could get very interesting, they all have such sordid pasts.

GAY RIGHTS

When running for both Governor and Senator, during his 1994 and 2002 Massachusetts campaigns Romney stated, he “would have a better policy providing for domestic partnerships than his Democratic opponents would. I will support and endorse efforts to provide those domestic partnership benefits to gay and lesbian couples. We must make equality for gays and lesbians a mainstream concern."
- (Your open-mindedness and compassion is amazing!!)

In 2004, he opposed both same-sex marriage and civil unions in Massachusetts when the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ordered such marriages be permitted. Romney lobbied for a constitutional amendment to overturn the decision.

LABOR

Romney states his hugely successful leveraged-buyout practice “had created jobs”.

Kennedy exposed that Ampad, a company purchased by Romney's Bain Capital in 1992, had recently bought SCM, an office products company in Marion, Indiana. All 350 workers at the SCM plant were laid off, and then offered their jobs back at reduced wages.
- (Oh boy, now Mit’s in big trouble!!)

GUN CONTROL

In a 2002 debate during Romney's campaign for governor of Massachusetts, Romney said: "We do have tough gun laws in Massachusetts; I support them. I won't chip away at them; I believe they protect us and provide for our safety. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people. That's not going to make me the hero of the NRA. I don't line up with the NRA.”
- (Kudos to Mit, you’re concerned about the safety of Americans and cannot be bought by the NRA!!)

Romney now states, "I have a gun of my own. I go hunting myself. I'm a member of the NRA and believe firmly in the right to bear arms. In our state there are a series of laws restricting gun ownership in various ways. Over the past four years, I've worked very closely with the Gun Owners' Action League here, which is an affiliate of the NRA, and we've made some changes which I think they feel have been positive steps. And so you are going to see that, I think, hopefully, in other states as well, as they make progress, perhaps further than Massachusetts has.”

HEALTHCARE

As governor of Massachusetts, Romney signed legislation that required that nearly all Massachusetts residents obtain health insurance coverage by establishing means-tested state subsidies for people without adequate employer insurance, by directing funds designated to compensate for the health costs of the uninsured.

Romney vetoed eight sections of the health care legislation, including a $295 per person fee on businesses with 11 employees or more that do not provide health insurance. STEM CELL RESEARCH

While running for governor in 2002, Romney strongly advocated stem-cell research and he promised to lobby George W. Bush to embrace such research.

Romney now agrees with Bush's decision to ban federal funding for research on excess embryos and believes federal funds should not be used for research using human embryos created during fertility treatments.

ECONOMIC POLICY

As Governor of Massachusetts, Romney spoke against Bush's 2001 extension of tax cuts. In 2002, Romney refused to sign an anti-tax pledge because he considered them "government by gimmickry."

Romney now praises Bush’s tax cuts and states, “they are effective.”

CAMPAIGN FINANCE

In his 2002 gubernatorial campaign, Romney proposed taxing private political contributions in order to finance publicly funded campaigns. In his 1994 Senate campaign, Romney advocated spending limits on congressional campaigns and suggested abolishing political action committees.
- (Whew, finally all candidates will be on equal ground thanks to you Mit – Kudos!!)

Romney now strongly criticizes the McCain-Feingold Law, saying "We step into dangerous territory when politicians start eviscerating our fundamental freedoms in the name of amorphous principles, like campaign finance reform."
- (There goes equal opportunity for all candidates – we’ll continue getting screwed!!)

TORTURE

During the second Presidential debate, Romney supported the use of enhanced interrogation techniques in handling suspects at the Guantanamo Bay detention facility, stating, "enhanced interrogation techniques have to be used -- not torture but enhanced interrogation techniques.
- (You can’t accuse Mit of not knowing how to split a hair!!)

GUANTANAMO BAY & DUE PROCESS

During the debate in South Carolina held May 15, 2007 Romney stated that in his view "We ought to double Guantanamo." He then went on to state "I want them in Guantanamo where they don't get the access to lawyers they get when they're on our soil.”
- (Habeas Corpus still on hiatus!!)

IRAQ WAR

Romney states, "so long as there is a reasonable prospect of success, our wisest course is to seek stability in Iraq, with additional troops endeavoring to secure the civilian population and could become a base for al-Qaeda and could mean a future with far more military involvement and far more loss of American life."
- (Mit, why don’t you support the troops?)

In the June 5 New Hampshire debate, in response to a question asking if Iraq should have been invaded in hindsight, He stated, “if things occurred the same way they had, with Saddam Hussein turning away UN inspectors, Iraq should have been invaded.
- (The Mexicans bombed Pearl Harbor!!)

It was pointed out that Hussein did in fact allow UN weapons inspectors into Iraq, and they no WMD were found.
- (And O.J. is still looking for the real killer!!)

In conclusion, it is transparently striking how consistent Mitt been throughout the years. Yet this poor man continues to be ruthlessly attacked and some have had the audacity to call him a flip flopper!!

For instance, he states that he has never supported gay marriage and only domestic partnership benefits are in dispute.
- (A perfectly rationale justification for his myriad of sea changes!!)

Romney states “his political opponents like to mischaracterize his past positions for political gain."
- (Whew, that’s good enough for me Mit and it certainly explains your numerous U-turns throughout your political career - poor misunderstood man – now everyone leave him alone!!)

Yeah, ok Mit, you're an opportunist and a coward if I saw one!!

About; "...replacing them all..." Congress - this too, concerns me, since there are some really good people, today in the Congress. For example, I really support and appreciate my Senators! Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein. They are both great, and I wouldn't want to randomly replace them with someone whom I do not know, or do not hold the same\similar positions.
It's kind of a double-edged sword, moment, since some of those in Congress should be replaced, period. You know, the ones who back Bush, no matter what he does or says - It seems to me, if he "passed gas" in a crowded room, they'd make it a law, not to say ewww.

I would that more people get to know their congress better... and get 'da Bums out! I had an opportunity to get to know someone who wanted to run for election for the House Of Representatives, because they make good money. It makes me wonder just how many of those in Congress do it for the same reasons.
I guess we don't all ask the right questions, of them. Like; "Why do you really want to run for Congress?"
Maybe we should start asking them and, ourselves - "Are they doing it for the money, power, prestige, why do they really want to be elected?"

Clinton issued 140 pardons as well as several commutations on his last day of office (January 20, 2001). When a sentence is commuted, the conviction remains intact, but the sentence can be altered in a number of ways. Some controversial actions include the following:

Carlos A. Vignali had his sentence for cocaine trafficking commuted, after serving 6 of 15 years in federal prison.
Almon Glenn Braswell was pardoned of his mail fraud and perjury convictions, even while a federal investigation was underway regarding additional money laundering and tax evasion charges. Braswell and Carlos Vignali each paid approximately $200,000 to Hillary Clinton's brother, Hugh Rodham, to represent their respective cases for clemency. Hugh Rodham returned the payments after they were disclosed to the public.[citation needed] Braswell would later invoke the Fifth Amendment at a Senate Committee hearing in 2001, when questioned about allegations of his having systematically defrauded senior citizens of millions of dollars.
Marc Rich, a fugitive, was pardoned of tax evasion, after clemency pleas from Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak, among many other international luminaries. He was required to pay a $100 million dollar fine and waive any use of the pardon as a defense against any future civil charges that were filed against him in the same case. Critics complained that Denise Rich, his former wife, had made substantial donations to the Clinton library and to Mrs. Clinton's senate campaign. Emails uncovered during the course of the investigation revealed that her final donation was provided a year before Scooter Libby requested that she approach Clinton for a pardon. According to Paul Volcker's independent investigation of Iraqi Oil-for-Food kickback schemes, Marc Rich was a middleman for several suspect Iraqi oil deals involving over 4 million barrels of oil.
Susan McDougal, who had already completed her sentence, was pardoned for her role in the Whitewater scandal; McDougal had served 18 months on contempt charges for refusing to testify about Clinton's role.
Dan Rostenkowski, a former Democratic Congressman convicted in the Congressional Post Office Scandal. Rostenkowski had served his entire sentence.
Melvin J. Reynolds, a Democratic Congressman from Illinois, who was convicted of bank fraud, 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice, and solicitation of child pornography had his sentence commuted on the bank fraud charged and was allowed to serve the final months under the auspices of a half way house. He had served his entire sentence on child sex abuse charges before the commutation of the later convictions.
Roger Clinton, the president's half-brother, on drug charges after having served the entire sentence more than a decade before. Roger Clinton would be charged with drunk driving and disorderly conduct in an unrelated incident within a year of the pardon. He was also briefly alleged to have been utilized in lobbying for the Braswell pardon, among others. However, no wrongdoing was uncovered.

The film uses archive footage, actors, and computer effects to portray an assassination of the 43rd U.S. president. The film covers topics of civil disobedience, racial profiling, the reduction of civil liberties, sensationalism and just-war theory.

The film premiered at the 2006 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, and was aired on the More 4 channel in the U.K. on October 9. It was then aired on Channel 4 in the U.K. on October 19, 2006 — a year to the day before the events portrayed in the film.

I recently saw this movie on DVD and though I am not Liberal, I did find it interesting. I does portray a fictional assassination with a very liberal view.

The Left locks onto "stockpiles" of freshly manufactured Chemical weapons as if that was the only consideration in the determination that Saddam had in fact violated the ceasefire agreement and the relevant UNSCRs.
Besides the fact that hundreds of Chemical Warheads have been found, prohibited and undeclared long range missle programs, plans to restart Chemical Weapons Production, Chemical and Biological Warfare Experiments on human subjects, experiments in the modification of rifle grenades to carry Mustard gas salvaged from old stock chemical weapons for use in assassinations and covert activities, an attempt to obtain the No Dong missile from North Korea, prohibited UAVs capable of carrying biological weapons with intent to attack US Naval vessels, and a laundry list of other activities prohibited by the UNSCRs were discovered.

The UN Inspectors were pulled out after Saddam's regime denied them access to ares they wanted to inspect, the final violation. Inspectors reported that Iraq military were moving materials out of sites while their Iraq escorts delayed them and made sure they couldn't speak to personel candidly. They were obviously hiding things, just what and how much remains to be seen.

Regime Stategic Intent was to reconstitute full scale WMD production just as soon as the UN officials and politicians they were paying off and/or blackmailing got sanctions lifted.
The French and the Russians had fronted Saddam billions of dollars worth of War Materials and they wanted sanctions lifted so they could get their money.

Al-Quida afilliate Ansar al-Islam was operating in Iraq and al-Qu'ida agents were coming and going with the co-operation of the IIS.
Besides al-Qu'ida afilliates Saddam played host and sponsor to a dosen or so Islamic Terrorist organizations and gave safe haven to terrorists know to have murdered American Citizens and been involved in the WTC bombing.

The administration did not claim Saddam had gotten Yellow Cake from Niger, they found enough Yellow Cake in Iraq for several Warheads in any case.
They said that if he could obtain fissionable materials he could build a bomb in a short time, and equipment and high speed detonator circuitry suitable for building such a bomb have been found in Iraq. As events have shown AQ Khan might have easily supplied him with the fissionable material he wanted.
Pressure on Pakistan and Libya led to the uncovering and dismantling of the AQ Khan network.

Al-Qu'ida in Iraq is Al-Quida in Iraq, not some fly by night group hijacking the title.

In a recent interview US military authorities stated that the surge has reduced US casualties and that Tribal leadership in Anbar province is now an effective ally against al-Quida. Violence in the city of Ramada is down by over 90%.

I am not for or against Romney at this point, but I guess I am somewhat old school. While I agree that average citizens can ask presidential candidates about the topic of their choice, I think that the youtube style is kind of hokie.

I think that it cheapens and trivializes the meaningfulness of a debate. What I would like is to here in detail their positions and their rationale for those positions. Often times, everyone says that a candidate will win if he or she gets the best jab or joke in. The best presidential candidate often may not be the best debater, but may be the most thoughful and decisive.

I am Republican (Go ahead everyone throw your spears at me), and at this point I have no clue who I am going to vote for. Quite frankly, I don't like anyone on either side of the aisle.

I know what you are trying to say, but there is no link between Bush and Pat Tillman. You say that the Bush lies all the time, and that is your perogative (sp), but my point is Bush is not to blame here. Now if you also believe that Bush caused 9-11, then I can see how you would make that link. I don't agree with it, but I stated that in the paragraph above.

Please keep your focus and perspective on what is right and wrong. I have come on here and said that Gonzales needs to go, but I respectfully disagree with your Bush Lied mantra. One reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' program will not work is because too many people believe that "it's not my politician" that's causing the problem. Every one else's representatives and senators are corrupt, but not "mine".

Another reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' program will not work, is the 'hold the nose' factor. No matter how bad it is, some people would never, ever switch parties and vote the incumbent out.

The main reason why a 'Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians' campaign is necessary is because even if "your representative" is not the problem, they have been enabling the "problem" ones either actively or passively.

Today, it's the lock-stepped republican foot soldiers who faithfully follow '43'. Listening to them try to defend the 'executive privilege' nonsense over Tilman and everything else was enough to turn my stomach.

Chemically bombing a defenseless oil reserve to steal 70 percent of all their oil profits forever and control of development and production is simply an international oil theft gone terribly wrong. Don't litter the war dead with more lies about Saddam's intentions. Cheney and Halliburton were selling oil field equipment to Saddam before 2000. Bush and Cheney are taxing us for an oil and gas pipeline in Azerbaizan. Their leader, Ilham Heydar is a mass murderer. How self righteous do you feel? Are you better than the dead barbarians you melt with a B-52 from 40,000 feet because you're such a man? NO, you're Neanderthalic Hunter-Gatherers sitting round the campfire deciding how much longer to murder the wrong people if we can't fetch their oil for Exxon!! It's a disgrace to humanity and not one of these presidential candidates can even mention the oil or the Iraqi Federation of Oil Unions who kept Halliburton off the rigs in 2003 when the oil company illegally represented this nation as an "agent" stating reconstruction funds would be withheld if the unions didn't allow them to access the rigs. The unions reacted by shutting down the entire system for three days, cutting off funding to the former parliament and Halliburton ran away. It is now moving to Dubai, perhaps to escape American justice and be closer to the oil reserve they still intend to steal. One last thing. Bush lied about commuting Libby's sentence. Judge Walton had sentenced Libby to 30 months for obstruction of justice, six months for making false statements to the FBI during an investigation, 24 months for perjury, making false statements to a grand jury and fifteen months for another perjury to the grand jury. Judge Walton had already reduced sentencing to 30 months. The Presidential Liar said, "...do hereby commute the prison terms imposed by the sentence upon the said Lewis Libby to expire immediately, leaving intact and in effect the two-year term of supervised release, with all its conditions, and all other components of the sentence." Well folks. Libby can't serve supervised release if he never goes to prison. There will be nowhere for him to be released from and hence, the Presendial Liar would have the American public believe Libby will serve some type of supervised probation. NO WAY. This is Bush Country. There's only one rule, there are no rules. We murder for oil and tell the world we're spreading democracy. We're spreading something alright!!

Personally, I find it absurd, irresponsible, a violation of his oath of office and criminal that he remained in that classroom and continued to read "My Pet Goat" after being told our country was under attack. Carol, Long Valley and others - "throw all the bums out" won't necessarily work. For one, I will never give up Russ Feingold in the US Senate - the best guy there in my opinion. Additionally, it provides no reward for those doing a good job.

What is really needed is public financing of all campaigns - so that we don't continue to have a Congress made up of millionaires or those beholden to corporate donors. Limitations on those expensive media ads would be a blessing to us all and limit the amount of cash that they would need to raise.

Right now we have a millionaire Congress beholden to their corporate donors, without a care for the people. They figure that they can do what they want and then just put out massive amounts of "attack the other guy" election ads to ensure that the sheeple will vote for them. After all, we no longer have real news reporting in this country anymore to discount all their lies and expose their records so they feel that they can do and say whatever they want.

I forgot to say thanks to all the regular bloggers who disseminate such useful information. I especially appreciated Pam's point by point of Mitt's being against everything he once was for.

Again, this site gives me hope that not all is lost. I must admit to being a little disappointed when I hear "Off the Wall" conspiracy theories about Sept. 11th, from some of the bloggers I have come to rely on for clarity and wisdom.

I understand Brenda and Pam that you no longer trust anything the government has to say, about well, anything, and of course it is your right to believe what you want.

It's more likely that our "intelligence" institutions were simply caught completely off guard..and felt rather embarrassed by how unprepared they were to deal with the Sept. 11th attacks. Why else stir up a big Broohaha with Israel over whether or not Israeli intelligence had foreknowledge of the Sept. 11th attacks?

Now of course all of that has been smoothed over..but our highly self-important intelligence officials had to point fingers somewhere after getting caught with their thumbs up their posteriors.

In other words, I really don't think there was enough competence and awareness to pull off some big conspiracy..not from our home-grown government flunkies. They were too busy drafting "The Defense of Marriage Act", as a constitutional amendment and promoting abstinance education to the wicked American masses.

Apropos of the entire who-should-hold-debates-and-who-should-participate folderol: I think the most productive thing any of these presidential wannabes could do right now is go back to their day-jobs and impress us with their performance there. And if they do not have a day-job, perhaps they need one! (Lord knows, I am not particularly impressed by Rudy;s record at his previous job.)

The campaign season goes on entirely too long, as it now apparently begins as soon as the previous election ends. Perhaps what we need, rather than spending limits on politicians' campaigns, is a TIME limit on the campaign season. From what I can tell, most of the present field of Republicans and of Democrats will either self-destruct or simply go bankrupt before we even get to (let alone through!) the primaries. In the process, they will end up so boring the average American that he/she will have succumbed to campaign fatigue just when it is most important to pay attention.

Then again, that might just be what one or two candidates count on.

That said, who do you like for the 2012 race? ;D

I REALLY get tired of hearing that total load of crap. As a retired Navy Medical Diver, I find it hilarious that according to the right-wing blowhards, and the President, that we're living in constant fear of a imminent terrorist attack.

Fact is, we've been attacked twice in the last decade. The death toll from both of these terrorist attacks is LESS people than cigarettes kill every 2 days. Our response is to spend trillions of dollars and over 3,500 young men & women to date, to supposedly stop them from coming over here and attacking us again.

The fact is our two oceans provide us with more protection than anything the republicans and this administration has done to date. Our borders are still wide open, very little imported cargo is checked(can't hold up those Chinese goods enroute to Walmart!), and we've squandered trillions that could have been used for things like health care, housing, and education. Our constitutional rights has been shredded and the fear drumbeat gets louder everytime this administration is on the ropes.

Mark my words, historians will find George Bush and his buddies did more damage to our country than the terrorist ever could.

(And no, before you right-wing weenies get up a full head of steam, I'm not suggesting 9-11 wasn't a terrible occurence. But what's been allowed to go on since is worse. Maybe we ought to see if we can find the 6'4" tall guy that needs dialysis every day who planned it six years ago)

It only took him two days to Google a couple of canned responses. As to my rejoinder, you are correct that my second comment was Danish and translates "You make me laugh!" The first, however, isn't French, and I'd like to draw out the suspense for just a little while. (I'll translate it eventually, promise.) :)

I thank you for your kind words. I must clarify a couple of things though. I do not buy into the 9/11 conspiracy theory and never have. I believe I did not make my stance clear enough.

The only point I was ever trying to make is that many people disbelieve anything out of this Administration's mouth because of its excellent track record of lying (the only good thing they know how to do)!! I do not fall into that group of people who state they believe everything is a lie; however, I DO NOT BLAME anyone who feels that way, as the blame for this distrust lies squarely with George W. Bush.

I will say I do not believe one word George W. Bush or any of his puppets, i.e. Tony “Pants on Fire” Snow, spew regarding Iraq, the DOJ, Alberto Gonzalez personally and Karl Rove. However, I do not believe "EVERYTHING IS A LIE". I hope this clarifies my position and thank you again for your kind words!!

Pam, I apologize if I insulted you in any way with my thoughts about "Conspiracy Theories." Likewise my apologies to Brenda.

I know I shouldn't bother, but uh, Scott, Columbus OH, myself and many others on this blog have offered many succinct arguments and rebuttals in the face of neoconconservative illogic. It gets to the point where folks just get tired of wasting their breath.

Witness the neo-looney response to my post about "Compassionate Conservatism".. The response went something along the lines of "Cheap porno and Clinton." I guess that's what passes for intelligent discourse in neocon circles these days..but BW don't care no how about intelligent discourse and he's President!

What a shining beacon, which perhaps explains why so many of the neocon "contributors" to this blog seem to have a 5th grade level of grammar and spelling. We've all noticed it.

Lastly, folks who believe a CEO sponsoring a POLITICAL debate should be shunned for saying blatantly racist/slanderous POLITICAL things about a candidate, well they have their opinion and are not forced to defend it, even if you say so Scott.

I have asked several times for any neocon on this blog to explain why they think BW is doing such a Heckuvva job. They denounce every point we make, for what appear to be partisan reasons, but have never once offered to say WHY this administration is good and right. Not one response to my question..ever. Not that I would force anyone to answer..

What amazes me, is that in the Bible it says is that all judgment is reserved for God, and that we mortals are not to judge any man, especially on another person's relationship with God, which no other person can possibly know. Yet there are many political types that claim to know that Mitt Romney's relationship with Jesus is false. Me thinks they should go back and review what the Bible says about judgment, and hold to that, instead of creating their own bogus interpretations.
