Hells...bells...educational brilliant COUNTDOWN and educational brilliant NewsHole bloggers...y'all have given me ever more reading and "life work" (as opposed to "homework") to do! GGGRRR... ;) Now, I have to check out Carl Bernstein's Senator Clinton bio from the library. When I checked earlier today, the Draper GW bio wasn't there yet; I'll check again. My oldest sister, bless her heart, bought me THE KITE RUNNER for my birthday back in May, and I haven't touched the thing. There's too much interesting life stuff going on to keep up on!

So, Keith, life is half MONTY PYTHON (*^%$@?!) and half BOB AND RAY? Darn it, now I need to learn more about BOB AND RAY. Python?! Sorry, I know I'm in the minority here, but I just can't stomach them. My hubby and most people I know think HOLY GRAIL is one of the greatest movies ever. The only times I thought that movie was funny was when I was really REALLY "intoxicated" when I watched it. But, BOB AND RAY...here I come!

I just love love LOVE Jonathon Turley. I'm still waiting for someone to throw his hat in the ring for AG!! His comment that the Senate was made of "denisons of Sodom and Gommorah" was just priceless!

Kudos to Keith or whoever else at COUNTDOWN was responsible for the TEAM AMERICA: WORLD POLICE recall to introduce the North Korean spectacle! TA is the product of SOUTH PARK wonderfully twisted minds of Trey Parker and Matt Stone. It is their take on world politics, terrorism, security, etc. with puppets.

And, Senator Craig...truly the gift that's going to keep on giving for awhile yet. He's going to get whiplash and pull himself apart changing directions so many times. Talk about your flip-flopping! The timing of the wonderful voice message RIGHT BEFORE his Saturday press conference was just...well...wow.

Gotta look up my reading and listening material, now. Everyone have a good evening!

Why do we have to wait for the Senate to do something about Craig? Hasn't anyone ever heard of "recall"? Why can't the Idahoans who elected this self-righteous hypocrite just take it back? I'll be happy to donate a few books for him to read in retirement. Maybe something by Oscar Wilde or Gertrude Stein. Expand his cultural horizons, if you know what I mean. And while those Idahoans are at it, maybe they could take Bush, too. Today's email to my Republican Congressmen -- every day another one until they vote on Iraq funding. Once again, feel free to use whatever you would like to email your Republican Congressman.

This President has shown by his over 750 signing statements, his utter contempt for Congress.

There is NO "WAR IN IRAQ", the "WAR" was over the minute President Bush declared "Mission Accomplished" over 1500 days ago.

There is sectarian violence in Iraq, some of which is aimed at our soldiers. You can't referee a civil war, it can't be done, and it shouldn't be tried. If you "pick" a side, then you are fair game for the other side. If you don't pick a side, then you are fair game for both sides, and right now there are at least three factions shooting at us. We are occupying another sovereign nation -- OF COURSE they are shooting at us, I'd expect nothing less. When Britain tried to occupy/control the 13 original American Colonies, we shot at them, and we called ourselves Patriots. It's the same thing, only this time WE are the 'bad' guys.

President Bush said that Saddam Hussein had biological weapons, he was wrong.
President Bush said that Saddam Hussein had a nuclear weapons program that was close to finished, he was wrong.
President Bush said that we would be greeted as liberators, he was wrong.

This administration said that the war/occupation wouldn't last long -- "I doubt six months", they were wrong.
This administration said that the war/occupation would be paid for by Iraqi oil revenues, they were wrong.
This administration believed that you could force democracy at gun point, they were wrong.
This administration believed that ideology is more important than experience and competence, they were wrong.

Why on earth would you believe anything that this administration says about Iraq now? They've never been right before.

President Bush said the he only listens to his generals, but he only listens to those generals who tell him what he wants to hear. President Bush has stated that "Washington Politicians" shouldn't be telling the generals what to do. He is a Washington Politician, with no real military experience and he's telling the generals what to do.

Once again THE INVASION OF IRAQ WAS PURELY ABOUT THE OIL -- EVERY OTHER MADE UP EXCUSE WAS PROPAGANDA. If Cheney and Halliburton still wish to have Halliburton's oil, tell them to buy it like everyone else. This illegal and immoral occupation of Iraq is nothing more than a 'game' to our president. Please stop financing his 'game' with American Blood and Treasure. Please stand up to him, and say "No more". Please vote for an orderly withdrawal, and the sooner it starts, the better. Please vote for the end to this insanity. This man may be the leader of your party, but he does not deserve your support. Please vote as a loyal American, and not as a loyal Republican, in this case, they are not the same thing.

I vote, and I monitor your voting record.

Yes, I watched the whole thing. Ron Paul was the only one who had the courage to say the truth about Iraq. He claimed that his anti-war stance is the only valid Republican stance historically, and actually he's correct.

Most of the rest scared me to death when they talked about torture -- except McCain.

The anti-gay rhetoric went over like a lead balloon in the "Live Free or Die" state.

The chest thumping over Iran (like our military isn't broken enough) was scary to witness. IMHO, the best answer came from Huckabee who stated that he would surround himself with many experts, listen to what they all had to say, then pray, then make a decision, and that was the only non-chest thumping answer in the bunch.

The other interesting note is that each candidate had a display next to their name with biographical data, like spouse's name, # of children, AND RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION!!!

And lastly, the chosen 'after-spin' audience were completely unimpressed with the debate but felt that McClain had won it because he actually answered the questions put to him.

Was President Numskull aware of disbanding the Iraqi Army?

Of course he was!! The policy came from of the American Enterprise Institute and the 2002 conference regarding post-war strategy. Below is the link to the transcript of that conference.

To quote a great line, “When he says the policy was to keep the army intact", he's probably using some Cheney-esque definition of ‘intact’, the same way ‘last throes’ means ten or twelve years.”

He doesn’t “recall” his discussions or the Wolfowitz letter; or, did he even read it? My research shows he had quite a bit on his plate during this period.

-It occurred less than three weeks after his infamous "Mission Accomplished" declaration.

-He was busy working on the “spying on Americans” policy, in addition to other courses of action to trample on our civil rights.

-Paul Wolfowitz was being interrogated on Capitol Hill regarding Iraq; where he told Congress, “One of the keys to getting Iraq up and running as a country is to restore its primary source of revenue: its oil infrastructure.”

-Also on this same day, “the UN officially turned the country over to Bremer's CPA and Bush signed Executive Order No. 13303, granting immunity to oil companies working in Iraq to protect the UN's Iraq Development Fund's ability to pay for all of this -- so you don't have to.

-General Tommy Franks said “Ciao”, announcing his retirement.

-Last, but not least, George and Laura were devoted to American Idol. Yes, that’s right, Ruben Stoddard beat Clay Aiken to become the American Idol and that took precedence over those “pesky” calls and letters from Wolfowitz concerning the Iraqi Army.

A few questions for you “Ghost”; why have George W. Bush and Dick Cheney continued to support the current dictators of Saudi Arabia; the country of origin of 15 of the 19 terrorists who perpetrated the September 11th attacks? Why hasn’t George W. Bush or Dick Cheney taken any punitive actions against the Saudi government for funding the radical religious schools that continue to spawn hatred for America? Oh, and remember those 28 pages redacted from the first government 9/11 report regarding the role of the Saudi government in the attacks, why do they continue to be hidden by George W. Bush and Dick Cheney?

NONE of my posts of the last two days have made your blog, why? No bad language, no attacking others, yet "others", which break your rules are posted.

This site has gone from bad to worse and it's a shame. It was once a great blog, moderated well, now either hours go by without updates, posts randomly get put up and NO effort whatsoever is being dedicated to this blog.

My question, why do you have it at all? This is disgraceful, period.

KO, you seemed to be so slap happy last night, better hold off on the Nyquil to having it after the show. All kidding aside, Larry Craig has never had so much attention called to him aside from the Russert interview where he called Bill Clinton, "a naught, naughty, boy." Well, sit and spin look where he ended up. He is not only dumbe but also light years away from being voted into MENSA. to speak without an attorney, claim he is guilty and be mirandized without an attorney present is his own fault. Prof. Turley stated this was a misdemeanor and since I am not at an attorney I will buy that for now. Noone cares if what his sexual preference is but to keep shouting it from the roof tops and then state there is no right for the gay community is shameful. What a putz. Peace to All, Denny!

Uh, Ron Paul WON the text message poll . . . 33% over his closest competitor, Mike Huckabee (who I happen to like) at 18%. Sean's favorite (who he has openly campaigned for . . . fair and balanced, indeed) roo-DEEE, came in third with 15%.

Amber Fields, you're right. Suzanne Craig was a staffer in Craig's office. They married six months AFTER he denied accusations that he was involved in the 1982 page sex scandal. The fact that no one had ACCUSED him of anything was apparently lost on him.

Yeh, I am sure that the Iraqi study group recommended that we tell the Middle East that the US in Iraq is an illegal occupation. That always brings about goodwill. The Iraqi study does not recommend that Dennis Kucinich act on behalf of the American Government. What right does he have to undermine US foreign policy. You can't defend his actions, so your typical response is to divert and ask questions about something that has nothing to do with the topic. You never respond to the topic at hand.
We can only hope that he wins the dem. nomination. That would ensure 4 more republican years in the white house

I wonder how old you are? Seems you are so one sided in your views. Your critism and opinion, which you're entitled to, (having been born in the great country of ours,) ALLOWS you to voice that opinion! It is sad that the young generation or maybe you're of the Vietnam Generation(?) does not comprehend the worldwide picture or the lessons of the past as in what could happen with a tyranical dictator such as Adolf Hitler and (which some countries still have one almost as bad.) You do not have all the intellegience data that this administration has, nor would they put it "out there" for possible terrorists to interpret (such as MSNBC showing a map of all possible nucleaur storage sites in the U.S.?) How WISE was that? Are we so out there to get the news, which changes from one hour to the next!, that we are not considering we might be putting our whole population of the United States at risk? Talk of soldiers dieying...it is sad...but let's talk about innocent civilians, women and children especially that could die because of some radicals who DON'T LIKE OUR IDEOLOGY... THE ABILITY TO SPEAK OUT IN FREE SPEECH...AND BECAUSE OF THE RADICAL WILD LIFESTYLE THEY "THINK" WE HAVE AND SEE ON TV AND DON'T WANT IT TO SPREAD TO THEIR COUNTRY? And what about other countries that think that Bush is a bad guy who needs to be "taken out". Is it OK with you for them to invade America?

War is a last resort when everything else fails and there is a danger to our country. Just as other countries can't dictate policy to us, we have no business dictating policy to other countries.

We should do what we have always done best in the past: Lead by example.

I'm old enough that the flag only had 48 stars on it when I was born, and I know what I was doing when JFK died. I was too young to go to Woodstock, but I remember the music. My brother-in-law fought in Vietnam and spent years suffering from the effects of Agent Orange exposure. I know more history than most, especially WWII, because my father never met a WWII movie he didn't like and watch repeatedly. I also found your post just a tad condescending.

As to Afghanistan, they harbored terrorist training camps, OBL is probably still in the neighborhood hiding out in the border regions between Afghanistan and Pakistan. When we went to war in Afghanistan, the whole world was behind us, I was behind it. If we had finished the job, the world would be a better place.

With regards to Iraq, Saddam was contained and he was a secular dictator who would never share his power with religious zealots. I firmly believe that '43' and Cheney had the correct intelligence, and warped it to fit their goal of stealing Iraq's oil. This invasion was planned long before they took office and 9/11 gave them the excuse. I don't trust either of them at all -- and I consider myself more of a Republican than a Democrat. I can't think of one good reason to stay in Iraq, but I can think of at least 3700 reasons to leave.

There will always be some group that hates America, and lately bush has increased those numbers exponentially. You can't 'win' an occupation, you can only stay forever or leave. You can't export democracy via a 'rifle', you only recruit new terrorists or 'freedom fighters'. If Bush and Cheney wanted to make our country safer, they could start with port inspections, they could continue with keeping our national guard at home and training them as well as our first responders how to handle a 'terror' emergency. They could stop with the 'code red' fear mongering, and start with working towards fossil fuel independence and infrastructure repairs to our bridges, tunnels, roads and sewers. They could stop with the partisan politics and distribute the Homeland Security money where it will do the most good, but that would mean that 'blue' states would get their fair share, and bush can't have that.

For the moment, we barely are keeping our free speech, but 43 and co are working on preventing an anti war protest rally in DC.

They are monitoring our phone calls, our email, probably our snail mail. America is becoming more and more like a dictatorship, and I'm going to keep speaking up until they are stopped and/or the last 28% wake up from their coma.

I haven't found a candidate for 2008, I'm watching the debates on both sides, I'm listening and paying attention, but if the Republican candidate is 'bush-lite', then whoever the Democrats nominate will get my vote. It won't be the first time that I voted 'against' one of the candidates, and it probably won't be the last.

Re: Sen. Craig. Why is it a crime for one adult man to "come on" to another adult man? How is that different from one adult flirting with another adult of the opposite sex in a bar or anywhere else? I am not defending Craig - he obviously has some problems - but I don't get how flirting is a crime. If he hadn't been acting out his self-hatred by being so anti-gay all these years, I think a lot of people would have called this incident discrimination and gay bashing. If he had been flirting with a woman in the parking garage would he have been arrested?
