Why wouldn’t we hold Blackwater and other private security firms that we hire for our purposes to the same rules of engagement we hold our own troops? Hmmmmm. Is it because ... they have immunity and the troops do not? Perhaps a 21st Century extrapolation of that old saw … ‘the West wasn’t won with a registered gun’? Cowboys, for sure. These guys have been watching way too many movies (or maybe playing way too many video games) where people don’t bleed when they get shot.

I don’t think Countdown needs to worry much about big-headed Billo, who is clearly a blowhard (so much fun with alliteration, so little time), but if I were you, I would worry about Dick Cheney. He will bring more than a loofah when he comes after you. And you’ll need more than a talisman. Hold on to your hat (the one you wore on last night's show will do nicely) and be sure to keep your wits (or skull) about you.

That political rookie Senator Obama wants to get rid of nuclear weapons?! FREAK! HIPPIE! PEACENIK! His obvious inexperience discounts the fun of radioactivity, nuclear winter, and mutations. He should know better.

Who would make the call to have "the comedian" removed from Armed Forces Radio? Would Clear Channel or some kind of government entity?

A war tax, huh? That would be a way to get more people to feel they're a part of the war effort. A war tax may help bring about our quick exit stage left from Iraq once the war began hitting people in their wallets.

As far as Blackwater goes, let me try to follow this logic - a dangerous thing, I know, with this crop in D.C. GWB has claimed to always listen to the soldiers on the ground and to the generals. The only general he's listened to up to this point has been General Petraeus. So, if someone tells General Petraeus to say that Blackwater and other "private security companies" should get their money-grubbing behinds out of Iraq, y'all think GWB and the "Dictator-Wanna-Be" will order them out? Just a thought...I'm still under the influcence of Nyquil.

Unthinkably, I missed the #1 story, and reading the description above, it sounds so very interesting. This is exactly why you have to fix the video thing for Mac users. So much so that she told her family to investigate her death if something happened to her. Well, last week she was found dead from a bullet wound to the head at a "secure" base in Afghanastan. Have her family on your show. The world needs to hear what this soldier had to say!!!!!! It reeks of Pat Tillman!!!!

The more I find out about Blackwater the more this war makes sense. It is designed to be perpetual war to profit a few and instill fear in many. Even if it went to fixing up our aging infrastructure (bridges, roads, sewers, tunnels), I would still willingly pay it.

But we don't have the money to give working class kids health insurance. It's all about prioritizing to pay for the War in Iraq and now we know just where Georgieboy's priorities lie.
This veto shows just how disconnected, and, disinterested Georgieboy is in the well being of American kids. Maybe if they lower the enlistment age
to say 10 or 12 these kids could sign up and get health care through the army.

So, let me get this straight...there's a spare $190 billion or so for Iraq but not a spare $35 billion for kids' health insurance. O....K....

Since we are paying way too much for private soldiers (contractors) to avoid having a draft which would surely have sunk Bush's re-election, how about if Bush makes a few sacrifices.

Maybe we could pay for the war if he would donate his salary back to the coffers. Ted Kennedy does.

Maybe he could stay in the White House on weekends instead of spending the fuel to go to Camp David or Crawford every weekend.

Perhaps he could stop his endless "chamber of commerce" type speaking engagements all about the country, although they do provide comic relief on Dubyaspeak.com.

Perhaps we could discontinue providing insurance benefits for Congressmen and Senators whose income exceeds $500,000 per year. They can well afford their own private insurance far more easily than the people Bush wants to keep off SCHIP.

I welcome other suggestions.

The Pointless Nightmare in Iraq ISN'T about oil. Well, not entirely. It's also about corporate profits; enabling tax dollars to be shifted to military contractors' coffers.

BushCo, who can't give even a small salary raise to our own soldiers (or increase the hazardous duty pay), can earily afford to shell out 10 times as much to each mercenary plus another big bundle of bucks to their corporate employer. Not only that, but allow them to recruit employees out of our own military - particularly our Special Forces, who have been extensively trained with taxpayer dollars.

We have the best government corporations can buy.

Taxpayer dollars -----> corporations -----> campaign donations to politicians who will continue to support corporate profit ------> pro-corporation legislation -----> more campaign donations to corporate supporters ---> taxpayer dollars ----> corporations ----> (continue the endless circle)

The circle needs to end.

The solution is public financing of campaigns so politicians will no longer need to kiss corporate or lobbyists butts to get cash to get elected. They will need to run solely on their merits.

My dad and I went to Cubs games every summer until I went off to college; we'd spend the day. We'd go to the Sears Tower (and I did the FERRIS BUEHLER thing on the observation deck after the movie came out), catch a game, then eat at THE ORIGINAL Pizzeria Uno - no big bright well-lit "copies" for me! To this day, I haven't been to a night game at Wrigley Field; somehow, it just wouldn't feel "right." Call me old fashioned and set in my ways.

Thanks for reminding me of great times!

People wiser than I am have advised me not to talk to you, but since you asked, I'll give it one shot:

1. John Kerry didn’t get elected, so don’t try to tell me what he would or wouldn’t have done. This mess is not John Kerry's fault.
2. I’m not sure Bush really “deposed” the Taliban in a meaningful way. Our policy of neglecting Afghanistan in favor of Iraq has re-empowered the regional warlords and permitted the Taliban to re-emerge and strengthen to near pre-9/11 levels.
3. Gosh, I thought Osama Bin Laden and his #2 guy were still out there. I could swear I saw some tapes recently. Must be my mistake. And I’m not sure we really got the 9/11 masterminds, either, because those confessions were achieved by torture, which our own generals repeatedly tell us does not yield reliable information.
4. If I had a chance to bring Saddam to justice without committing mass murder myself, I certainly would. However, given that this was not the original rationale for the war, I don’t think it was worth more than 4,000 coalition lives and countless additional innocent Iraqi lives just to replace one form of madness and brutality with another. Non sum zero.
5. I think the real impetus for Khaddafi’s surrender was when we bombed Tripoli and killed Khaddafi’s son. Bush didn’t do that. By the way, many people believe Khaddafi was merely yanking Bush’s chain, and that he may still be a threat.

I here you CA, that is my point, whether its dem or rep, it doesn't matter at this point. We all want someone who can execute a smart agenda that makes sense in today's world. We still have a terrorism issue to deal (Don't get on me for that, because terrorism has not gone away). Maybe every hear makes a pact to just select the most qualified candidate, regardless of party affiliation. I believe Carol of NJ said at the end, to research the candidates and make an informed decision. What Sue was doing here does not accomplish that.

As for Sue as leader, we could have Larry as the Vice President. That would be some fireworks. A deserted island is looking good right now. Give me an endless supply of corona and pineapple, and I'll will enjoy ;)
