If Craig Crawford sat through 5 hours of political speeches on Saturday night, he doesn't need college credit; he needs and deserves a medal or at least a hearty handshake, a pat on the back, and the warm glow of victory.

The #3 story about British Airways gives a whole new meaning to "ghost riders in the sky"!

You're expecting "the comedian" to fact check?! That activity would almost smack of a news program, and that would be so...uh...what's the word I'm thinking of...oh yes, professional - something of which "the comedian" could never be accused except for maybe being a professional boil on the butt of humanity.

It's no wonder Senator Craig's so confused about his sexual orientation if he's getting his "family values" lessons from FAUX News! I wonder what Mr. Loofah's spank-the-monkey-O'vision hotel bill is when he goes away on business?

Amazing, I thought it was a fluke Friday while watching Countdown when I saw a commercial for Fox News Chicago, but it happened again tonight - 7:30 central time right before Keith stomped on Faux News there was a commercial for the local Fox News. I don't think I've ever seen a commercial for a news show played during another network's news show.. This was on Comcast cable so perhaps MSNBC would be interested in knowing that this is happening.. I go out of my way to make sure I don't get exposed to Fox News, and here are commercials for it being played during my favorite show on TV!!
Just thought someone should know, and I didn't know where else to post this.

I passed along thanks and best wishes to veterans over the weekend here, but as Paul Rieckhoff so eloquently said, every day should be Veterans' Day. So to all bloggers here who are veterans and to anyone in any military branch who may be reading this thread, thank you so SO much for your service to our country and the sacrifices you've made in the defense of our freedoms. The idea that ANY VETERAN is being denied one of the freedoms that they've sacrificed so much to defend, namely the freedom of speech and to redress grievances to our government, so GWB could play war video games in Texas with wounded soldiers that Dana Perino is stupid enough to think are the real deal makes my stomach turn. Keith, I begged you yesterday to make GWB the WPITW tonight, but what you said to introduce the segment tonight gave me "Special Comment"esque goose bumps. So, you are so forgiven! Thank you so much.

What I found particularly nauseating about W's appearance at the Center for the Intrepid, aside from the fact that we should not have to be privately funding care facilities for veterans, was this tidbit reported in the LA Times:

"The president visited the military center between parties for the Texas GOP and for Sen. John Cornyn's reelection campaign that were expected to raise $1.3 million.

When the president splits his travel time between official events -- in this case, the tour of the rehabilitation center -- and political events, the government picks up a share of the costs that would otherwise be charged to the beneficiaries of the fundraising."

George Bush doesn't hate the troops. He simply doesn't care about them. He is too big a coward to expose himself at Arlington, breaking a tradition of countless years. Bush deserted the Texas Air National Guard after one year (his records have mysteriously disappeared) and he has never seen a day of combat. He will never go anywhere but a military base where he is completely guarded. When he addresses "the public" you have to have a ticket to get in and to get that ticket you have to answer a series of questions. Wrong answers, no ticket. If you so much as wear an anti-Bush t-shirt you will be arrested and removed from the speech site. Bush neither knows nor cares what our troops are going through as long as he doesn't have to go through it.

Totally off topic and more than likely totally irrelevant. If so feel free to tell me get lost you crazy woman:

Awhile back I was watching music programming on RFD TV (which is in negotiations to air Don Imus's new AM show, apparently because he's horsey) and happened to hear a group somewhat improbably called The Cluster Pluckers sing a beautiful song called "Weapon of Prayer." My mom told me later that she remembers it being sung during WWII, when most families had husbands, fathers, sons etc. away in service. It occurs to me that this would be a very appropriate song for our current situation, with some minor tweaking of the lyrics. Especially since we have a president who would rather try to sweet-talk a foreign leader to go against her country's economic interests in Iran than pay proper respect to the dead of all our wars by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns.

Anybody else ever heard this song?

We invaded Mexico in 1846, Cuba in 1898 (or so) and the Phillipines in 1900. The same year we sent solders to China to help put down the Boxer rebellion. Mexico again in 1916 to try to catch Pancho Villa. So WWI was not our "first grim venture into international combat". You should read more history and talk less!

Like I say i'm pretty late to the game but I have been watching more nightly programs because my work shift actually let's me work the "normal" day shift. Have been watching Hardball and it's very informative. I'm really interested in the Democrats simply because the Republicans don't excite me. I like Obama but to watch Countdown one would assume the nomination is already Hillary's. Now come on Countdown let's be fair about this Demcratic race. Hillarys ahead but that planted question(s?)fiasco was downright "dumb". And please let's forget about Fox News and Bill O'Reilly. All your doing is giving them more publicity. The people that watch you don't watch Fox anyway. Let's concentrate of far more important matters. We have a very,very,important election that is coming up. Dang it we need a change in this country.

When these polls are mentioned about Hillary and her lead, who is being polled? I only know 1 (one) democrat who would vote for Hillary in the primary here in CA -- only 1. The rest are for Kucinich or Edwards or Obama. In a DFA poll she came in 5th behind Kucinich, Gore, Edwards, Obama and Richardson. So, where are these numbers coming from? I think we've been heard .... good. Nice to see updating on this thread instead of waiting for a day.

I'm still irritated at the privacy discussion scheduled for tonight's show being shoved off along with Rachel Maddow, but hope it will get covered tomorrow. However, the topics covered made the show full and much appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are still 24% of American's that don't have a problem with GWB not bothering to show up at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Probably the same ones that think that supporting the troops has everything to do with one of those car magnets.

Paul Reichoff was a guest on Rachel Maddow's show today prior to his time on Countdown. He says there's a veterans bill already on BushCos desk that he hasn't decided whether to veto or sign. They think he didn't want to veto anywhere close to Veterans Day. I think he doesn't give a $hit. He'll do what he wants, as he has over and over again because Congress will not stand up and hold him accountable - for ANYTHING.

Interesting that BushCos no show was not covered on the other networks. Haven't they realized they don't have to suck up to him anymore?

It's all blank at the top so you think the page is still loading, but then when you scroll halfway down, there's the window with the video in it, already started! Is that page still under construction? I hope so because it's not a very good plan. I liked the original layout with the video on the left, the date and description on the right, and all the current Countdown video thumbnails below it, very easy to find.

Is it just 'coincidence'? Or, is GWB simply hiding from all those who are angry, disgusted, dismayed, disgruntled, and have little regard for the 'little' man?

How else can I put this? His 'cronies' - his 'money people' - his staff - his VP - and all those on the list, simply don't allow him to know how much people really oppose him and his "decider" decisions.

Even, some people dispise him! I'll add: maybe not as a person, (though I hesitate on this one) but, most assuredly as a president! This idea keeps popping up in almost all his public appearances now.

Do you suppose there might be some 'reality' in what appears a bit flakey and fishy, in the murkey waters of the p.Residents public appearances? All staged with pre-planned questioners, pre-planned photo ops, and so on?

Just watched a late viewing of the Bill O'Reilly show "The Factor" just to see what I have been missing. Has some lady on there talking about body language. Boring to say the least. All in all his show was ok but nothing that I would make a habit of watching. So if there is an obsession there I just don't get it. Fox Noise,Fix Noise,Faux News. Try forgetting all about Bill O'Reilly and Fox News for a few weeks and see what happens. If not maybe it's time we lay down on the couch and have a nice long talk with a doctor. As far as Hillary having the nomination wrapped up,that's not the feeling i'm getting here in Iowa. She has a slight lead in the polls but the feeling that I have is the Democrats would just like there nominee to be someone else other than Hillary.

Both my parents Stanley and Maria Ploharski are buried in Arlington National Cemetery. Prior to the death of my father on Vet Day he wanted my sister to take him to Washington so he could tell the president to end all wars. That was in 1999. He must have been turning over in his grave these last few years as the ceremony is conducted at the tomb of the unknown soldier. I am glad that Bush wasn't there and wish Dick had not have been either. I would have much preferred someone who knows the agony of the actual vets who have given their lives. You've obviously revealed your e-mail address to them. Presumably, you trust them. But have you ever posted your e-mail address on the blog? If so, that might easily explain how someone is able to post as you. (I assure you it’s not me -- not my style.) I don’t think it matters whether you use multiple computers as I have used at least four different computers to post, but always the same e-mail address. Could this explain it?

But that's cool too. I didn't see Larry or Scott, NV, Tom-DC and a few others from the right on here the last day or so. What have you far right liberals done with these people? Not nice. In any case can we get back to the "Way We Were". Now, what has Bush done stupid today? Looks like Hillary is having some trouble. How about Pakistan, scary huh? And water boarding is still torture.

Digusted, GWB is a sociopathic personality. Even if he wanted to and even if he tried he could not sympathize with the emotional trauma, pain and suffering that our troops may experience. In fact I think he finds more internal conflict because he knows deep inside he cannot find a way to sympathize and emotionally care for people at a level that others are capable of feeling. His is a personality where internal emotional closeness was lost many years ago and lies dormant where it cannot come out and reveal itself. This is a very painful and depressing situation for a person with this kind of personality. In fact, there are people who are born with a propensity for sociopathic tendencies. If not recognized early and countered with a great deal of love by significant others the person grows up incapable of having deep emotional ties with people and a conflict with society in general. They can't fit in. Most times this inability to enter into and feel such emotional attachments results in rebellious and irresponsible behavior.

I'm glad to hear someone else besides me call the Iraq war a video game war. That's what it has been to Bush since it began. Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld planned this war in the abstract, with little thought to long term consequences. They neglected to ask the two essential questions that must be asked before embarking on a major military operation. Is our national interest at stake and will we protect this interest by this action? The answer to the first was no and the answer to the second is that we have actually damaged our interest because Iran, Russia, Syria, Hezbolah and Hamas have now extended their influence in the region. A scarier thing has now happened. We have established a precedent for the contractor army which is answerable to no one. Their loyalty is to the company, not the country. The founders wanted a civilian leader to help moderate the military. The civilian leader is answerable to the people. Blackwater has shown that they are answerable to no one. Thanks to the hundreds of millions they have made in Iraq they could now probably beat all but a few armies in the world. Unfortunately, is nothing in place to control them. They are free to sell their services to the highest bidder. They are better equipped in some respects than our military.

I am a day late but I wanted to thank all of the veterans for their courage and their service. In thinking back to how the vietnam vets were treated by the anti war group, I can't help but feel shame that a fellow American actually treated our soldiers in that manner. Vietnam vets are owed an apology from America for what the morally bankrupt anti war protesters did to them on their return home.

I also feel shame that someone recently has defaced the war memorial in Washington DC. Anti War protesters have the right to peacefully protest and assemble, but they have NO RIGHT to vandalize what I describe as hollowed ground. These are treasonous acts against our country, in my mind

No, President Bush does not hate the troops. He went to a ceremony of 4 fallen soldiers in Texas, with VP Cheney at Arlington. Should he have been at Arlington, I would say yes, Does he hate the troops, absolutely not. KO over the top with his Bush hatred.

pud. All the 'wars' you mentioned were the US against one other country, hardly an International War with the rest of the World involved. All were calculated in the interest of the US. Canada was against the Brits who were trying to enslave us, Twice, but hardly International in scope. The Spanish-American War was a land grab, pure and simple, and partly orchestrated by William Randolph Hearst. The Boxer Rebellion was brought about by the Chinese resisting European Occupation. We played very small part (See '55 Days at Peking' or 'The Sand Pebbles'). And Mexico was an incursion into that country at the behest of the French and Germans who wanted to divvy the place up. Pancho only crossed the Border to get even with a few Gringos, (mainly crooked US Army guys) who had ripped him off in a Blackmarket Swindle for Guns and Ammo. At least that is the version I heard from a Mexican Professor. I'd say, your History Lessons were ignored when they were given out, but you did learn how to twist a few words in your English Only Class.

I was going to ease my criticisms of El Presidente, but after the report that he was a no show to the tomb of the unknown soldier, I decided a few words were in order. This man is beyond clueless. It seems that the Clinton campaign wants to consistently hide from her true record and sneak into the White House without having to deal with any substance. We have so far

1) The non release of her WH records. If she using her experience in the WH as a prerequisite, then why can't the American people see her body of work while first lady.

2) Planted questions at news conferences. All of this is intended on making her look good.

3) Now the campaign is warning Wolf Blitzer not to "pile on" at the debate and not pull a "Russert". Another words, don't ask any tough questions.

4) Blame her poor performance in the prior debate on "the swiftboating" of her candidacy by fellow candidates.

I have to ask my democrat friends, doesn't all of this concern you. If she ends up being the nominee how can you come to grips with that, other than to have party loyalty.

If I was Obama or the other candidates, I would be continuing to pounce on "the front runner", to provide the American public with all of the necessary information to make an informed decision.

You will go to war, you may not have the proper equipment. You will see things that will scar you for life, you may even be blown to bits. If you do make it home, our government will do all it can to make sure the american people don't have to pay for your health care. We will make it so hard for you to recieve benefits, you are sure to just give up trying to get them. No free rides in america, even if you give your body and sanity in defense of the rest of us. We won't understand what you went through, we won't even think about it very hard. After all there is shopping to be done and didn't you sign up for this. When we see you on the side of the road with a cardboard sign we will roll up our window, homeless people are scary and we are afraid of everything, and drive away. The Dole-Shalala report had 27 suggestions to improve healthcare to vets. The president has the power to enact 23 of them with out congress he has done nothing, of course. Congress had increased VA funding and funding for expanded PTSD care in the schip bill, the president vetoed it. We may glorify our troops, but we sure as hell don't support them.

Glenn Beck.

Last Thursday, Beck had a rather informative show on the crime which is spilling over the Border with Mexico. Americans Citizens being kidnapped and held for ransom or killed. Mexican Army escorting drug runners and illegal immigrents. Night Clubs on our side of the Border being assulted, and the local press recieving death threats all along the Border with Mexico.

Now the Mayor of Laredo Texas wants Glenn Beck to appologize for having Sheriff Flores of Laredo, and others witnesses from Laredo on to complain about how little the Federal Government is doing to secure the Border, and protect the citizens of Laredo.

Glenn Beck call the Mayor during his show today to ask what he got wrong on about what's going on down there. The Mayor got into a name-calling hissy fit rather then engage the dangers facing the people of his city from the Drug Lords crossing the Border.

And for that, I'd guess that Keith Olbermann would call Glenn Beck "The Worst Person in the World".

But I could be wrong on that, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit.

I had problems with it too. If you use the "feedback" link at the bottom (it WORKS unlike the links on Countdown), your comments and complaints will be reviewed and responded to.

I used it the first day it went up and got a very nice email with information and instructions from the guy in charge! He says he's anxious to make it all better and wants to be contacted by users. He says that there is an entire team reading everything users send and that they respond to every one.

After using the American Soldier as a prop for all this time, Dubya now stiffs them out of a piteous amount of money that will go to his Trillion Dollar No-Bid Contractor buddies. You know what $900 bucks a month means to a homeless Vet? A little apartment and enough food to fight off malnutrition. But Dubya doesn't think they deserve it. Some of them will give up and kill themselves. And Dubya won't even buy them a bullet. Dubya didn't go to the Memorial because now he can't look them in the eye. Maybe he thinks one of them would say something mean, as he and Cheney like to do. The homeless ones are past that Dubya. They internalize the pain, and some are past even that. Some are barely hanging on. And as I type this, one of them is looking for a quiet place and one last sunset. And hoping that the one person who really loved him, will understand.

Wow. I suppose that could be it, but if so it might be the negative consequence of good intentions. It might mean, for example, that your name alone has credibility, and you get a “pass” when it appears, and it might also be the consequence of improved moderation – the faster the whippersnapper has to work, the more possibility for error. Just a thought, for whatever it's worth.

I confess this whole thing is a mystery. I like puzzles, but this one seems to be pretty much unsolvable. Anyway, I gave up trying a long time ago in favor of playing mind games. More fun than sudoku, for sure.

Kevin in NJ- Our vetrans deserve a lot more than an apology. They deserve health care both physical and mental. They deserve a country of grateful citizens who understand the sacrifice they and thier families have gone through. A country that believes using them unneccesarily in a war is treason and holds accountable those who would needlessly send our soldiers to war. A country that thinks thier lives are more important than monuments. They don't get that and your "outrage" at the defacing of a monument by a few, only adds yet another red herring that distracts from the utter neglect of our soldiers. You can hate the antiwar movement all you want. You can point out all sorts of protests that are not palitable to your senses. No one ever died because of paint on a monument. bush sends soldiers to die for......I'm still waiting for a reason. I find priorities baffeling.

David Molinaro- Please do a little more research on nuclear power. Sure oil prices would fall. But nuclear power isn't free. There are processing costs and contamination cleanup at the sites. Google Hanford WA or Savannah River Georgia. Then there are storage costs and problems. Currently there is no place to dispose of the high level waste they create. So it is held on site at reactors all over our country. Creating huge security and environmental threats. The power companies like nuclear over other renewable sources because it keeps everyone on the grid and paying them every month for there electricity. As opposed to solar, wind, water power which takes people off the grid or even allows them to feed excess electricity into the grid and get paid from the power companies.

So before you criticize the commander in chief I suggest you take a look at who in your party could be the next commander in chief. The Corination of Hillary ought to make you absolutely nausaus.

The judicial branch is currently leaning too far right to survive another four years of ultra right appointments. We need balance to be restored.

I'm still undecided, but I've been leaning towards Richardson, Biden and Dodd. After listening to Obama's JJ speech, I would have to add him to my 'short' list as well. As much as I would like a woman president, I don't think that Hillary is the solution.

Very correct about Charlie being alive--he celebrated his 80th Bday awhile back--and about Ira dying in I think a 1965 car crash after surviving being shot by his wife (there was an epidemic of that in 1960s Nashville; the late lamented Porter Wagoner was too). I would daresay Ira probably attacked Elvis in a drunken rage. Yes, love the Everly Bros., not so fond of Gram Parsons but dearly love his protege Emmylou Harris who has recorded any number of Louvin Bros. songs herself, including one heartstopping duet with Don Everly of "Every Time You Leave." We have a local music reporter that writes for our local newspaper, and I'm paraphrasing here, but he wrote something to the effect that in the 70's his editor sent him to interview Gram Parsons and it ended up being an afternoon of firsts. He was waiting at the venue they were supposed to perform at and it was the first time he'd seen a Silver Eagle tour bus, then Gram steps off of the bus, so it's the first Nudie suit this writer has ever seen, then he went on to say after Gram stepped off the bus Emmy Lou got off and he wrote that was the first time he'd ever seen the most beautiful woman in the world. Even now at when I see a picture of her with her grey hair I can still feel some testosterone coursing through my veins. So sad in the few weeks to have lost both Porter Wagoner and Hank Thompson. Apparently close to 15,000 Veterans who died as far back as 1890 have been cremated and if they have no family, stuck on a shelf and just left there.

My father fought in WWII and I'm his only family - if I die before he does, apparently the government will just cremate him and stick him somewhere?

I would not put it past the current administration to try something similar and Senators Reid, Feinstien and Liberman would defend it! Is any one else worried?

Larry (2:25 PM Post): I wrote a lengthy response to your post Larry but it looks like it won't be posted. In a nutshell what I tried to say is that in the case of GWB those standing ovations at military bases are not for him, but rather the soldiers are celebrity themselves and their commitment to their call to duty, their willingness to do their duty, and the self-respect and self-worth they have for themselves and for one another. Now give GWB a helmet and stick his butt on the patrols in the streets of Baghdad and perhaps he could earn just a bit of respect. Don't assume the applause at these miltary base appearances are for Bush. They are not. In war time the soldiers would clap if Bozo were at the podium. This is not a projection on to the speaker the pride they have in themselves. What would you have them do? Boo their own purpose and that which gives them a feeling of respect and worth. I don't think so. They know, believe me, that Bush has not earned a place as one of them.

It's the platform planks that you have to be aware of. The Supreme Court is now 5-4 conservatives vs not conservatives (only one or two could be considered 'liberal'). "Strict Constructionist" judges would unravel many accepted threads of our society besides 'abortion rights', Child Labor laws and Minimum Wage are two that I could think of.

With every Republican candidate trying to 'win' the Religious Right, I don't think that I have given the matter too little weight. How come everyone cannot just practice their own religion and not try to 'convert' every one else?

Not so sure I follow or agree Adelaide. There are speciifc issues on local and state ballots one can vote for or against depending on how the issue is worded on the ballot. But in a federal general election one is attempting to vote for a candidate (President). If one votes against someone then they are obviously still voting for someone they do not want. Back to the lesser of two evils. Perhaps the American people need to begin boycotting these elections as a protest reagrding the lack of good and decent candidates. It would be their statement saying we don't want any of you cracker jacks. Let's start over. Even as unlikely as that is to happen I'm still not sure voting against someone is the answer either.

Obviously,we don't want to turn our country into a religious zealot state where you can only practice one religion. I don't see that happening. The "religious right" doesn't have as much impact as you think. The "right to life" nuts I don't pay attention to, but it shows their relevancy by endorsing Fred Thompson. Fred Thompson is not a candidate that is going to garner that much support from the general population, and he would never win the election.

Even though he doesn't get the press he deserves because of the media's obsession with the "top tier" candidates, I am seriously considering Mike Huckabee for the Republican nomination. I would give Ron Paul a look, but his foreign policy ideas scare me a bit.

I have to ask why you would think that child labor laws and minimum wage laws would be affected by "strict constructionist" judges. Don't you want judges that won't legislate from their bench. That is not their purpose.

Alternative energy is part of most state's "energy plan", but at this point it is unrealistic and ridiculously expensive to make bulk purchases of electricity from alternative energy marketers. Utilities tend to be indifferent between nuclear energy vs. alternative energy, except that they have concerns about the reliability of solar and wind power.

New nuclear plants are costing about $1,800 to $2,000 per kw (Or $1,800,000 to $2,000,000)in cost. The cost of those units are put in their rate base and recovered over time. The ongoing cost of procuring power by a utility is usually a passthrough (Unless there is rate caps)to customers.

A combined use of clean coal power, nuclear energy, and a hint of alternative energy will allow us to reduce our reliance on natural gas and oil, thus reducing our consumption and, in the end, our dependence on foreign oil.

Ok, I take up the statistical challenge and find that you are correct in that that more often than not someone other than the President lays the wreath; however, if you break it into categories, presidents appear far more often than any other dignitary "type." Not sure why it was not posted Mark. But I'll say this about your comments. I agree that other past Presidents also did not lay the wreath at the Nationally acclaimed and recognized site and symbol of honoring veterans on Veterans Day (Arlington). Some of these Presidents who may have been represented by others in past ceremonies were most likely Presidents during times of peace. Some may not have been. Be that as it may, many believe that any President, past, present or future who orders troops into a major war or conflict during their Presidency should do several things. One, is to lay a wreath on Veterans Day at Arlington in view of the national audience, and two, is to greet whenever possible those dead soldiers arriving home at various airports. One can argue that other Presidents did or did not do this, but based on Bush's current status with the American people and his struggle to maintain support for this Iraq conflict it was really, really ignorgant for him and his staff not to realize the criticism and the perception that would be taken if he were not the one to lay the wreath at Arlington on Veterans Day (regardless of how mnay wounded soldiers he visited on that day). Keith's criticism was not based on Bush versus past Presdients laying the wreath at Arlington. Keith's criticism of Bush had to do with Bush's ignorance of the perception it would create if Bush did not lay the wreath because of his constant call for support and defense of sending troops into harms way.

I assumed that since he regularly uses such language in his broadcast, I would also be able to use such descriptions. Comparing this blog to a Thanksgiving dinner is is fallacious. I would almost agree with with your take on it, that Bush should have known what the perception would be, except that "the perception" of which you speak , I think, was artificially created and emphasized by only a few media types, like Keith, who seize upon any opportunity they can to stir up more malcontent for Bush. Personally, I would not have heard about this "story" if it hadn't been that Keith felt it necessary to make such a big deal about it on Countdown, (and I had left the TV on MSNBC after having watched Hardball)....Google "Bush Veteran's Day" and most of the major news outlets simply report the fact that Bush was at a ceremony in Texas. Only Keith, Drudge, and the likes of Capitol Hill Blue reported the story with their particular negative slant. All I'm saying is "too many trips to th well!" There may very well be some transgressions the Bush administration has perpetrated, but SHEESH! Thats all many of us are really saying Mark. That there has been a lot of transgressions by the Bush administration and some of us think the Iraq war was the biggest transgression. This is not a hate Bush crowd. This is a very very disturb with Bush crowd. There are going to be persons on the left that report negatives whenever they can about Bush and there will be people on the right (just wait and see if the Dems win in 08, especially Hillary) who will report nothing but negatives about her and the Dems. The fact is, no matter who is President they should learn, especially after having been in office a while, that most people judge the Presdient's performance on perception. All I am saying is that by now Bush should have known and had the smarts and the intelligence to know that he would be criticized for not laying the wreath, especially as a war President. In order to be successful Mark you have to learn to satisfy the crowd, not ignore and dissatisfy the crowd. Bush has always given off the air he dosn't care what the crowd thinks even though the crowd are the American people (a very bad mistake). Just how many Americans upset about this do you think have gone back to do research and see how many Presdients also did not lay the wreath, especially war Presdients. Not many I would bet. So their perception is that Bush is the only one who failed to do so making him look quite stupid, uncaring.
