Thankfully, GWB was in New Albany, IN today, a good 2-2 1/2 hours south of Indianapolis almost to the Kentucky border. It's a good thing because I just finished the purification and sterilization of my fair city after DICK's visit a couple of weeks ago.

To whomever was responsible for the caption "GOP Your Pants," loved it, loved it, LOVED IT! You all think Mayor Rudy, Mr. Kerik, et al are "GOP"ing their pants tonight? It almost sounds like a bad soap opera. All we need is an evil twin brother coming back from the dead, a poor lady with amnesia, and the bad organ music playing in the background.

Coffee is my alixer of life every day - especially these long days I've been "enjoying" at my job. These include sunspot variations, volcanic eruptions, changes in the large-scale ocean current conveyor belt, and to a lesser extent, changes in the earth's albedo. None of these theories on their own offers conclusive evidence; it is more likely that each has played a role.”

Which of these factors are in play today? From the perspective of a layperson, I don’t see any factors listed in your article, other than maybe albedo, that could account for the steady warming we are seeing now. It also seems apparent that increased CO2 from man-made activity, enhanced by the destruction of the filtering rainforests, is a new mechanism for warming that wasn’t present before the LIA, but has certainly been present since (because of the Industrial Revolution, maybe?).

From the data in your article, it is clear that the general trend since about 600 AD has been warming, with only brief periods of cooling, except for the Little Ice Age. The cause of the LIA is not clearly explained in the article (volcanic activity or sunspots, maybe?), but it apparently ended around 1850. This suggests we may still be recovering from that cooling period. In turn, this may explain why the average temperature is lower today than it was 1,000 years ago. But frankly, as I see it, even from your own evidence, except for the LIA, the overall trend appears to be up.
Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

#1. Keith, 99.999% of us here at NewsHole understand and appreciate that "the big giant head" is the gift that keeps on giving. He makes it so darn easy; we know. His stunning eduation in history, his decrying of smut at the same time as asking about all the juicy details about naughty pictures, videos, etc. are well-established. You notice he never gets up from behind his desk during his show? There may be times he could run amok with the Brent Bozells of the world if we caught a glimpse of the front of his pants during one of those segments. We know this, we get it, and we understand. Having said this, you devoted 2 SEGMENTS to him tonight?! There are too many important things going on in our country and in our world today to devote that much time to a "man" who has continued to and will continue to admirably demonstrate what a hypocritical moron and boil on the butt of humanity he is. The beautifully articulate constitutional mind of Bruce Fein tonight was wasted on "he who shall not be named" when citizens need to be reminded of the trashing of the Constitution and our civil liberties that the current administration is inflicting on us and the complicity of the Congress that is allowing this trashing to continue out of fear of being portrayed as "soft" or "unpatriotic." What I say next is not to besmirch or downplay the feelings of people who participate here in NewsHole on a regular basis, but you will not find much more of a staunch loyal defender of you than I am. I don't know the intent of the movie or the purpose behind producing the same. Would I go see it? Most likely not, and therefore could not really make a fair judgement about it. But I will say this. I have no desire to see a movie depicting US Soldiers raping and killing a young girl. I don't see the point other then to say that war is hell for all involved and we all know that. I don't agree with the timing and part of my independent right leaning side tells me the timing of the movie is for anti-war movement propaganda purposes (but I cannot validate that). I need no propaganda from either side to make a determination whether to agree with the Iraq invasion and police action or whether to oppose it. I have always opposed it. I have been an eye witness of many disturbing and cruel behaviors from both sides of a war when I served. I don't need to be reminded what war can do to a young soldier and that in war even the most level headed soldier can find themselves particpating in acts that they would never have dreamed of particpating in prior to entering into combat. I am also aware that the military is a smaller society of people that reflects the larger society. That there are going to be good people, bad people, law abiding people and criminals in both. My gut reaction is that the movie will be seen by military personnel regardless of anyone's politics as a slap in the face no matter the true intent of the movie. This comment may not be the outrage you seek but it does state how I feel. I am against this conflict but as a Vet I am against such a movie and the timing of the movie. That's all I can say for now.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Mary Mac, Memphis, Tennessee (Sent Wednesday, November 14, 2007 1:24 PM)

I've been worried about this for a while. See my posts on several previous threads, including one yesterday that asked this exact question, and one on this thread. This is a BIG concern.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

I wish him luck, and if he succeeds then we all need to apologize to "Chuck" and "Diane" -- obviously they both knew a secret and how to keep it.
Carol, Long Valley NJ (Sent Wednesday, November 14, 2007 10:21 AM)

He has a history of being an independent mind, so all the hysteria that KO stirred up regarding Mukasey, Schumer and Feinstein may have a bit premature. I thought all along (pats on my back commence) that he was a good choice.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Sue, West Allis, Wisconsin (Sent Wednesday, November 14, 2007 1:34 AM)

"Krista - It might be nails on the chalkboard to you, but I love the Bill O'Liar whoop-a$$ that gets piled on by KO. Remember, it's helpful for those of us who have to put up with his drooling ditto-heads to know what he's been up to. Keith's got BillO's phoney outrage down to a T. And I think he has fun doing it too...."

Ditto Sue !!!

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Kevin, NJ:

I agree with your comments regarding Keith's obsession with O'Reilly. GWB would never pull a Musharraf move in the US. In fact, GWB can't wait to get the hell out of offie. His stubborn and unmoving stance on so many issues is typical of a sociopath but it is wearing him down. But don't look for him to back down until he leaves office. The sociopathic behaviors will become even worse as the person feels more cornered by those who confront his need for control. No, Bush's personality is like peaks and valleys. Rebellious, anti-social combative behavior followed by episodes of child-like sulking. So what you will see from Bush until he leaves office is the anti-social combative behavior, then sulking, anti-social combative behavior, then sulking. Then when he leaves office he will project blame on to others for his failures (the same anti-social combative behavior) while also experiencing sulking child-like episodes because he can't understand why no one seems to like him. Now if Cheney were President I might worry. His is an altogether different and very scary personality type. Where Bush really has no idea what he believes, other then his need to act out to get the attention he craves and control over his own lack of self-respect, Cheney truly believes it is his destiny to make things right, whatever that may be, according to Dick Cheney no matter the cost. Even at a cost of his own life that he would describe as martyrdom.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

How about a segment on illegal immigration? If Keith were to report on O'Reilly's propaganda once or even twice a week and professionally expose O'Reilly's lies and half-truths I see no problem with that. But reporting on O'Reilly almost every single night, and using that false voice like Limbaugh and Hannity do at times to try and micmic someone, goes beyond what should be exposed and how to expose it. We like to give Keith credit for his professionalism and reporting of the facts. But this perceived obssession with O'Reilly based on the amount of attention given the same, and the verbal tones and manner used by Keith to expose the propaganda, takes something away from that which you state should be done to properly expose O'Reilly. There are many other segments of Keiths show where his humor and variety of verbal tone deliveries is appropriate and appreciated. Like the man/dog marriage and Keiths exclamation, "now you can kiss the bitch". But if it is being perceived by many viewers that Keith is or has become obsessed with O'Reilly, beyond just exposing O'Reilly's propaganda, then it has whether true or not. Just my thoughts.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

CA Here is part two of Adelaide's "Lazarus Long" quote. "If this is too blind for your taste, consult some well-meaning fool (there is always one around) and ask his advice. We all know that war is horrible and that it produces horrible events. We all know Bush has placed our soldiers in an impossible situation as our leaders did with us in Nam. We all know that war is not all sunshine and lollypops. And we all know that those of us who are against this Iraq conflict are not against the troops. And although I still think most soldiers spend the majority of their time worrying about protecting their rears and those of their comrades, such a film at this time (even if the intent is as you say) will be seen by many military personnel as a question of their integrity, their purpose, their commitment to doing what they have been ordered to do. You may not like it but that is the way it is. I am a firm believer in the education of people about war and free speech, but I am also a firm believer in the responsibility that comes with such education and free speech, and the timing of the education and knowing the consequences of how the free speech will be perceived by those caught in the middle or on the sidelines of the debate.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Larry (4:02 PM Post):

Yes Clinton has Larry as most professional career politicians, but the "living to talk about it" accusation against Clinton is a very very serious allegation Larry and is way out there in left field. Prove that one.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Didja know that there is a town in Arkansas named DeQueen and it's newspaper is Bee??
Texashogfan (Sent Wednesday, November 14, 2007 3:43 PM)

Perfect. My next career. I hope you don’t mind if I call this my version of “hog heaven.” Queen of DeQueen. Publisher of DeQueen Bee. I’m going to get myself a subscription to that and start studying. Thanks – I was feeling a little down after James Taylor called me that, but you just may have changed my life. Maybe it was meant to bee.
Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

This is more like the news Black Hole. If you actually did research instead of emailing moveon.org for sources, you'd see that the President more often than not sends a dignitary to lay the wreath.
Steve Simmons, Cleveland, Tn (Sent Wednesday, November 14, 2007 1:23 AM)
-----------------------------------------------------

Well thanks for that perfectly “rational" explanation Steve!! Welcome to the blog.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

"Hillary continuously skirts the issues. She made thousands on cattle futures, fired the entire travel office then brought up false charges against Billy Dale, had over 340 FBI files on Republicans illegally, denied knowing anything about the Rose Law Records until they mysteriously appeared in the living quarters in the WHITE HOUSE, continues to take illegal campaign donations from the Chinese. These are but a few of the concerns I have with Hillary. Please defend each concern and make me feel better about her presidential aspirations."

Larry, I'm not a Clinton supporter, but do you EVER look any of this crap you post here up? None of it is TRUE . . . you really need to READ something besides Free Republic and you need to listen to something besides Hannity (Rudy's shill) and the rest of your heroes. They lie, Larry.

Countdown Tuesday: War Chest Pains

Mary Thursday 8:02..Mary what a brilliant idea! The crowd reaction was loudest when DK proclaimed Impeach!
Why don't you mention this?

This is the best way to get Cheney and Bush to answer questions on everything you rail about or get ousted. Very simple.

The "no action" excuses so far have been pathetic.
Yes, they can do two things at once.
Yes, there is time (the actual impeachment is 3 days)
With Bush vetoing everything crossing his desk Congress will not get through anyway so WHY NOT spend the time getting the TRUTH.

eric
