Joe Wilson asked how the President can still employ the Vice President. Simple. Bush has to keep Cheney employed until it’s the right moment to pardon him. Then Bush can resign and Cheney can return the favor. My question is whether Cheney would return it. Hmmmm.

Good pre-Thanksgiving evening! I've read that this night is one of the biggest bar and drinking nights of the year; people are either starting their Turkey Day celebrations early or, maybe, "steeling themselves" for the upcoming family togetherness? Well, if anyone is doing either of these things, don't drink and drive!!

OK...onto the matters at hand...Kudos to Senator Dodd for requesting our new AG to reopen the "what did the President and/or his minions know and when did they know it" issue. I don't think anything will come of it, but he at least made the effort. And, don't hold your breath for Congress to do anything about this, no matter what Jonathan Turley said tonight that they SHOULD DO; great to see him, BTW!! Anyway, what's going on now is not the first "high crime and misdemeanor" done by this administration, and there's plenty of time for them to do more. Why would Congress do anything now? There's been more than ample opportunities in the past that have been ignored. Oh, the transcripts that everyone kept talking about tonight will never see the light of day; GW will play the "executive privilege" card, and that'll be it.

So, "the big head" is now the "Frank Burns of news"?! I am a HUGE M*A*S*H fan, and that, Mr. Olbermann, is an insult to Frank Burns - either the Robert Duvall or Larry Linville versions! ;) Way to go USO & Jon Soltz!!

And, Keith, that was THE WORST Shatner imitation I've ever heard. PLEEEEZZZEEE don't do that anymore! :D

I posted some thoughts on the passing of Milo Radulovich in the previous thread, so you're welcome to check them out there.

And, finally, knowing full well it might be a few days before posts from tonight's show emerge, which is OK with the Turkey Day festivities (I don't think Countdown is going to be on for the rest of the week anyway), don't forget, gang, that Keith will be making his SIMPSONS debut this Sunday night! I CAN'T WAIT!

Again Olbermann accuses Romney of anti-Romney Push Polls with-out evidence. Just on air speculation about what might be, could be, what if's that I find disgusting and turn off whenever the Media starts.

It's the old "How many Angles can sit on the head of a pin" arguments that does nothing to inform.

What if this Anti-Romney Push Poll was being done by Clinton? As a backdoor attack on Giuliani? Think of how effective that could be as Hillary brings up questions about Rudy's "Religious Bigotry" during the Presidential Campaign.

All that Hillary would have to do is make sure that her fingerprints can't be found by anyone. I find that theory plausible. You?

Hope you all survived the food fest Thursday. Maybe some of you or all of you have the day off to do something fun. I'm off and will vegetate with hubby, cats and a good book (John Dean's Broken Government). No mall shopping for me..and C A how was the reunion with the "boys" and was Dog excited to see them?

#5..good to see Jonathan Turley again. McClellan must have "gotten notice" from higher up to change his story, or there's a whole lot of lyin' going on.

#4..The Pentagon on requesting "refunds" from troop bonuses..nothing like alot of bad publicity and public outrage to turn a story around. Loved the way Jon Soltz opened up in the studio. Looked genuinely happy and comfortable talking to Keith in person. Great guest. Liked his comment that the troops watch Keith and football. Keith, more studio guests..works for me. Jon calling Billo and Limbaugh chickenhawk pundits..too funny. Billo getting a "spanking" from the USO, which he deserved. Would like to see the entire text of that letter.

#3..Rudy is going to implode. What other tidbits are yet unknown?

World's Best..#2 Jim Friel..absolute 2nd Best..old Chinese saying (Chinese Diswasher can maybe correct me if needed on this) "Save a life and it's yours"..this Principal and student are bonded for life.

Keith, Don't forget that Plame's Brewster-Jennings was the true target of the outing. The Wilson smear angle is all Rovian mis-direction and spin. It originated from the White house so is it to be believed? Hell no. Did it ever smear wilson, no. Wilson was sent by cheney to set up the whole deception.

Bush/Cheney wanted ethical Plame out of there (mid-east) so she wouldn't dispute their Iranian war lies when the time comes (now that is). NEVER loose site that the destruction of Brewster Jennings was TREASON. Valuable sources were lost, people were killed etc. Good intelligence is the Bush Admin worst enemy and that's why they wanted Plame's covert company gone. Why would they risk treason to smear wilson? That whole smear angle is so lame if you research it and look at it. Sy Hersh has some good sources on it.

Maybe you could expose the spin and focus on the destruction of Brewster-Jennigs a covert front company that took decades to set-up and millions of tax dollars to support. Regardless of the 'reason' for the outing the end result was the same TREASON.

You know I have a theory about Al Franken. There is a movie out called "The 13th Warrior", based on the Michael Crichton book, 'Eaters of the Dead/Skull, whatever". I had to read it for a class back in the Eighties. It's a Beowulf story, made logical, about a dozen Vikings going to help the people being decimated by Grendel's bunch and taking a Muslim along for good luck. This good luck charm being prescribed by the bone throwing hag who is well versed in these things. In the movie, Antonio Banderas is the Muslim who, while not converting the Vikings to Islam, isn't converted to Berserkism, at least not totally, and writes all the proceedings down, which is a twist on where the story came from. So now, We come to Minnesota. At various times, under control of either Grendel, Left-Wing Swedes, Right-Wing Nordskis, or a Pro Wrestler, but always having Al Franken. He's Minnesota's "13th Warrior". Though not as handsome as Antonio Banderas, or even Antonio's Jewish cousin, Shecky Banderas, Al, nonetheless, is the Bone-Thrown Choice of the Hag (possibly Jane Curtin or Gilda Radner), and Minnesota is wise enough to know that. Al hasn't converted them to Judaism, but he hasn't been converted to Gopherism, at least not totally. Whether or not Grendel is ever slain, doesn't really matter. In Minnesota, it's all for Odin. Al knows that, and he's been writing it all down.

Would you ever consider doing some time on AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS? WIth all the airline delays, airport problems etc......no one in the media has covered the real people working the the real traffic...air traffic controllers. Someone needs to expose what the BUSH adminstration and former FAA ADMINSTRATOR MArion Blakey and now Robert Sturgell has done to AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS> You had the short segemnt about the hearings on capital hill...when Sturgell was being questioned by the house sub committee.....THis is a serious problem and no one knows about it.THe entire thanskgiving week...major newscasts went to interview airline mgmnt, air terminal operations etc but no one gives 30 seconds to AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS>THESE ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE WORKING THE PLANES, not the computer sytems..... As a Southerner I can tell you there are those who will vote Republican no matter what in this world they have done. I grew up here and I keep trying to tell myself to shut up because no matter what you could possibly say there are Southerners who will vote for these maniacs no matter what they have done. It is astonishing. I just don't get it. I thank God I don't get it but it is driving me nuts and I'm not alone in this. Have a great holiday and maybe Santa will bring you some sanity. He knows who's been naughty (long list) and nice and he's checking it twice. Good luck out there and be careful.

I hope you notice I’m no longer calling you Phony or False True. I know now that you’re definitely True, whatever that means, either to you or to me. You may not remember this, but a couple of weeks ago, in response to my answer to one of your little puzzles (which I really like, by the way), you told me I was “finally seeing the light” and “starting to make sense.” I gave you a flip answer that I now regret because I didn’t know what to make of your response at the time. Sooner or later, however, your meaning became apparent to me.

Why bring this up now? I’ve been watching your recent posts and exchanges with others about spelling. Having some linguistics background, I was particularly interested in the post with the scrambled words (November 16 3:36 PM), and the responses you got to that. You’re right, of course. If a message is otherwise clear, then spelling is of no matter whatsoever. Spelling is like a switch that is turned on in some people and others not, like math, or languages, or science. My spelling switch is turned on, but some others not so much. I suspect that you have many switches turned on, even if spelling isn’t one of them (and I don’t know that for sure).

I agree that carping about spelling elevates form over substance. Unfortunately, we see too much of that kind of thing here. I’ve even done it to you, on at least one occasion. (Although, in the context of your own pot/kettle remark that preceded my riff on your spelling, I hope you’ll cut me a little slack.) But here’s the point. Your comment that I was starting to make sense contains the same spelling error I had riffed on before. For the life of me, however, I didn’t remember that. Or care. As someone once said, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eye.” After I finally got over my pre-disposition to discount any message coming from “True Liberal,” your message was very clear.

Your mentoring has meant more to me than anything that I ever got from the other “True” because you’ve made me think. I thank you for that. (:

Americans of late have undergone a disturbing transformation. The way America looks at things, as well as the way Americas is looked at, has changed dramatically. While most of these changes aren’t inherently positive or negative, there is one telling transformation that stands out among the rest. No longer do the American people answer the call of citizenship as they did in years past. In a democracy this is terrible news.
In a democracy the common citizen, not the political establishment, makes the primary decisions that govern our nation. When the populace fails to reach a decision, a decision is made for them. When a decision is made on behalf of the people instead of by the people, then by definition the democratic process has failed.
A democracy is delicate. In fact, it seems to be the most delicate form of government there is. More than any other political system devised by man, a democracy relies on the fact that all people are inherently good, and can be trusted with matters of importance.
However, this delicate situation can be changed instantaneously. In fact, all it takes is a small handful of truly driven people to take control of any government. When those people are driven by corrupt motives, then democracy becomes threatened, not only in America, but everywhere.
The greatest threat to democracy doesn’t come from some abstract threat of terrorism or from some great war against an unseen enemy. Democracy’s greatest threat comes from the inside. The true threat to democracy comes from the darkest uncharted regions of the human mind, the places where selfishness and jealousy breed like mad in the safety of their subterranean lair. The battle for democracy is fought by the same people who make democracy a reality-the citizens.
Therefore, it is up to the good citizens of this nation to come to the realization that the war to save democracy is being waged not in Iraq of Afghanistan, but in their own minds. It is up to the common man to pick up the sword of justice and the shield of human rights. It is up to the common man, now more then ever, to defend themselves from themselves.

Off topic from Wednesday's show, but I would like to send thoughts of strength and compassion to Rep. Julia Carson. My representative in Congress, Julia Carson, has released a statement this Sunday morning that she has terminal lung cancer. I met her a few years back the day before Thanksgiving at, of all places, a nail salon. She was sitting right next to me, and we talked about what to do with all the leftover food. The skin cell to t cell transformation unfortunately has one small problem. Ah, the devil is always in the details. The genes they are manipulating to provoke this conversion also seem to be proactive in cancer cells. Maybe they can call in Benny Hinn to cure the cancerous genes.To date, all I've ever seen Benny cure is an over abundance of cash in his poor followers bank accounts but there is always a first time. I've always been fascinated with the televangelist' rabid pursuit of two things, money and sex. Even Jim Bakker's career is undergoing a revival( pun intended ).I'd be happy if just one of them could come up with a cure for hubris. That, however, would mean they would have to cure themselves first.

Wednesday night - thread goes up - no updates

Thursday - holiday - you're excused, but MSNBC programming is rehashed rerun crime/predator documentaries instead of news programming.

Friday - while the other news channels have news, MSNBC chooses to do predator and prison documentaries rerun dozens of times. Guys, if you want people to seriously think of you as a news network, it helps to have news. This ISN'T a holiday.

Saturday - NO UPDATE

Sunday - NO UPDATE

I found myself watching CNN since Thursday if I wanted TV news. Even Faux Made-Up News was on live. Hard to establish a news reputation if you consistently serve up rehashed infotainment rerun off NBC. It might be cheaper, but it gives cable services like Comcast additional reasons to move you to their more expensive digital tier or drop MSNBC from their line-up altogether.

No wonder the NeoCons took over this country when we only have crap news available. Stuff doesn't just happen Monday thru Friday on non-holidays.

Get your act together, and not just on this flimsy excuse for a blog.

Kevin -- I’m curious. Are you saying that, if people are not under oath, then it isn’t important that they tell the truth? If so, I’m surprised to hear it. After all, you’re never under oath here. Are you saying that we have no reason to believe you are telling the truth? And that you have no fundamental obligation to tell it? Hmmmmm.

Since McClellan was Mr. Bush’s spokesperson, but rarely under oath at press conferences, then by extension, are you saying that we have no reason to believe he (or his boss) was ever telling the truth -- or should have been? Hmmmmmm.

Seems like a pretty low standard to me. I can’t believe you really mean it.

Re Toby Keith: so right you are, Bill. An executive in Nashville who refused to speak on the record once said that Garth Brooks went farther on less talent than anyone he'd ever seen. Frankly, he had not at that point seen Toby Keith. Gotta say though, Orally and TK are quite possibly the most nauseating acts who could be inflicted on the troops. And before anybody who thinks TK is a great singer goes apeshit, I have done my homework in his music, I am not impressed with him (or the Dixie Chicks, either), and it's only my opinion. Period.

Steve -- As you may already suspect, in addition to French (a post-college class) and the Booleans, I slept through Latin (too much chanting), medieval history (too much genuflecting), and confirmation class (too much self-flagellation). I did read Dorothy Dunnett’s Lymond Chronicles, which provided a pretty good look at the Middle Ages. Beowulf, Chaucer, and things like that were more along my line. That at least forced me to be aware of French, Latin, and history, but thankfully not the Booleans. When would we have discussed them, anyway? (Oh, no, does this mean I also slept through computer programming? THAT explains a few things.)

Ahhh, Chaucer -- music to my ears, especially after a glass of ice-9 (and especially now that I can’t have Erik Satie anymore).

Anyway, I always wonder how much pain and suffering has been caused in the name of religion (not much in Chaucer, anyway, unless you count “pain” of a different kind). And Henry VIII wasn’t much different from Britney Spears.

gator -- I’ve heard that a shot of ice-nine works well for that. Sort of shuts the whole hubris thing right down. I’m working on a delivery system for that in my garage right now. My current problem is how to limit the effect to everyone who doesn’t agree with me, and yet still have someone to talk to the next day. The Witch King of Angmar may be able to help me. He knows how to deliver the mail.

#4: The Frank Burns comparison was hysterical, and Sunday Night Football is not the place for KO to get political, much as I enjoy it when he does. However, "Here's the news from Fox" was funny tonight.

Best Persons: Nick Saban. This man makes me want to give back my diploma.

NPR interview: The Cincinnatus reference was nice, though I can't see KO retiring to FNIA.

FIFTH ATTEMPT TO POST!!

I just knew the loyal Bushies here would find some way to bash Scott McClellan based on his new book, revealing five top White House officials, to include George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Andrew Card, Karl Rove and I. Lewis Scooter Libby were all involved in the leak and cover-up in the outing of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame.

I wanted to wait and read some of the asinine comments I knew would be forthcoming prior to posting a lengthy comment. Oh you loyal “Buffoons” have not let me down!! My favorite so far has been that Scott McClellan was a failure, was fired and he’s just getting back at the Bush Administration and now he's a liar too!! Oh, save it!!

When McClellan gave notice, George W. Bush stated the following, “McClellan had performed a job well done." The two had a long relationship predating the presidency; therefore, nice try to all the trolls here, your excuses are absurd.

George W. Bush further commented by stating, "I thought he handled his assignment with class, integrity. It's going to be hard to replace Scott, but nevertheless he made the decision and I accepted it. One of these days, he and I are going to be rocking in chairs in Texas and talking about the good old days."

“Good old days” President Stupid? It is my sincere hope that those”good old days” are spent sharing a prison cell!!

This rationalization becomes more absurd when one looks at the average time press secretaries serve. One only needs to examine the presidencies of both George W. Bush and Bill Clinton; it is rare a press secretary serves for the duration of a president’s tenure. Tony Snow, one year; Scott McClellan, three years; Ari Fleisher, two years; Jake Siewart, one year; Joe Lockhart, two years; Mike McCurry, four years; Dee Dee Myers, one year.

Therefore, save the “McClellan was fired because he was a liar, incompetent,” etc. etc. etc. He resigned after serving three years, which is longer than any other press secretary under the administration of George W. Bush!!

Reading through people's comments, I have a question for David Molinero. What exactly are you trying to convince anyone of?? I see you putting out increasingly provocative statements and cut-and-pastes, like a little kid poking at something with a stick.

Here's a hint sir, if you want to provoke a genuine dialogue with people on this blog, then try to stick with blog topics as they relate to current affairs. If you want to initiate discourse, try having an original idea (eg. not from one of your NeoCon pundits that has already been dispproved multiple times), that isn't just the same old crusty NeoCon blather.

What we see now, comes off as a pathetic attempt to instigate negative responses..if this is how you get your "jollies," like the other folks we consider to be "trolls," then I say look in the mirror before you tell us yet again that we are wrong in our beliefs.

Why did Bush rush the building of the Iraq Embassy?

How can we forget the arrogance of what this administration has deliberately done to insure that our troops/military are going to be involved in Iraq for an indefinite period of time?

The Iraq war has already been allowed to continue for longer than WWII. During this amount of time, it has allowed this administration to build military bases and also to build the largest, costly Embassy in the middle of the Iraq war which is/will require continued protection because of the fighting still going on, without any end in the near future. Is there any wonder why President Bush is always "smirking" when he has committed our country into an indefinite period of war. This should upset Congress and the people, causing some type of repercussion toward this administration by pointing out the "got-you" that this administration has gotten our country into by trickery and false pretenses. The American people have been badly mislead and there has been a lack of respect shown to our volunteer military, by this administration.

The only way we can leave Iraq is to "throw away" all of the construction that we have done for providing our own occupation in Iraq. Just look at the conversations taking place about bringing our troops home. Is it all a "farce" for most of the candidcates, running for election, to even talk about bringing our troops home? Here we have another play with words. Redeploying the "combat troops" when there is a war going on all around the Embassy. Who is going to protect the Embassy and the military bases without coming into contact with the "enemy forces"?

I see in the latest poll from Reuters Hillary falls behind the top 5 Republican candidates in a head-to-head contest. Obama and Edwards remain 2-3 percentage points ahead of the same Republicans in the poll with a +- error of 1%. Things are going to be very tight and if Hillary gets the Dem nomination even tighter with perhaps another Republican win.

I also see that two top Iraqi officials want to make a deal with the US for the US to stay permanently in Iraq to help provide security, etc. (Of course I'm sure oil sharing will be one of the items yet to be negotiated before such an agreement will come to terms). Trading American lives for oil. Just does not seem right does it?

Glad to see Trent Lott leaving soon. Not soon enough in my book.

I saw that poll too friend; however, I believe in the end, just like in 2004 when Dr. Howard Dean "had the nomination, Iowa will go Hillary Clinton, just like it did in 2004. It was the last hour and John Kerry beat the “polls” and won!!

I believe when it comes down to the actual voting, people will look at experience, but primarily, former President Bill Clinton. While I do not support Senator Clinton, you know I'm a huge Kucinich fan and am also leaning towards Senator Biden, I strongly feel the majority of democrats will vote for who they perceive can win, and that's Bill Clinton--therefore, it's Hillary Clinton!!

If you're talking about the older photo I think you're talking about, it has been retouched. His eyes aren't blue. Stare at them intently the next time you see him on the screen......and you can see that they are brown with the slightest hint of hazel. You might also notice that Keith's right eye is the tiniest bit lighter than his left. Either that, or the lighting in that studio is really messed up.

Addendum to my last post:

It seems that a lot of these rats are jumping ship just in time to avoid the new lobbying regulation, which will increase from 1 year to 2 years the amount of "space" needed between being a lawmaker and becoming a lobbyist. It seems that THIS is the real reason that Trent Lott will forgoe the remaining 5 years of his Senate term.

It used to be "the buck stops here". The Repugnikants have turned into "the buck comes here (to me me me me)". We might have a better government if we could get rid of the dollar signs in their eyes, self-serving, slaves to corporate sponsorship jerks that are holding far too many seats in congress in order to enrich themselves.

I think Trent Lott has just seen the writing on the wall. Oh, I'm sure he wants those big bucks he's going to make as a lobbyist. However, the scorched earth politics he and the Republicans have practiced since Newt was a rising star have not really benefitted the public that much and the elephants are going to be in decline for awhile. Besides, his old buddy Haley Barbour has all the casinos back home open and they're redirecting FEMA funds from home replacement to enhancements at the port of Biloxi. Mucho dinaro to be made right in his own backyard. If you watched his little duet with former senator Tom Daschle at the University of Mississippi Leadership Center you can see that he has become a little tired of the confrontational atmosphere in Washington.

There are several ways to TRULY support the troops:

1) Do not deploy them without an exact mission and all the equipment and body armor necessary to do the job. Bush/Cheney and the Republican right failed on that one.

3) Care for the injured, both mentally and physically until they are ready to resume their normal lives. Bush/Cheney and the Republican right failed on this one too.

How can the Republican Right claim to support the troops when they sent them in to fight an elective war, with faulty intelligence and missing equipment. They then cut the funds for the VA hospitals and asked for signing bonus back from injured vets.

No, based on those facts, I would have to say that Republicans hate the troops.

I agree C A, which is why I have been upset since she announced her candidacy!! While she has every right to run, she has known for years how polarizing she is; she knew what would be forthcoming; she's extremely intelligent and had a comprehensive understanding of how public opinion would make a general election win particularly challenging!!

She put "Self before Country"; and I therefore have been, and continue to be, extremely upset with her decision to seek the presidency. This election is too critical for our country's future; she knew that and seemingly didn’t care!!

I hope I am wrong, but seriously, I don't think I am!! The only thing that will save us "if" she gets the nomination is Giuliani, McCain and Romney!! The republican candidates are exceedingly more frightening, which is why I stated last week if Senator Clinton gets the democratic nomination, she has my vote hands down!!

Giuliani and Romney have both stated they will expand Gitmo, not close it under “their administration(s)”; McCain will have us in Iran if Bush/Cheney doesn’t first (as will Giuliani and Romney)-- remember “bomb, bomb, bomb--bomb-- bomb Iran-- by John McCain; all three will keep us in Iraq with no end in site and all have said so!!

Therefore, I have much more confidence and faith in Senator Clinton than these three inept GOP buffoons!!

I googled 'embryonic stem cells cause cancer' and what the scientists are talking about, are finding the root causes of cancer through embryonic stem cells. The ONLY site that makes the claim that e. stem cells cause cancer is a Catholic site..go figure. Here are a couple of quotes cause I didn't want to get too cut- and- paste- happy:

I confess I really don’t watch religious channels. I always feel SO unworthy. Not much reason to waste their time on me. Don’t look for me in Utah anytime soon, but I do watch galaxies from time to time, or at least I used to. That’s my idea of worship.

Teaser for McClellan's book? He needs one in light of the former CIA's director's flop. The question is how does one write a book that people will not only buy but also read while not angering the President's people to engage in backstabbing and keeping your future on hold as that future appears compliant with being a Republican? How close can one come to saying that the president is a liar while not actually saying that he is a liar? There has got to be a game that Parker Brothers can sell on the basis of TWISTER that begs standing on a lie but not actually being a liar! I like times such as this because it presents McClellan with an opportunity to convince people that he truly is honorable guy while working with an unhonorable group such as the White House. In this weeks's flyer for "Toys R Us" they advertise(really!) AQUA DOTS! I nominate them for worst person infamy, since this is Wednesday and no one has reported on this YET, I thought you might want to check it for yourself-here is what I wrote to the company:

To whomever:

You had better check your own recent recall list and then fire your advertising staff. This past Sunday's flyer advertises a sale on AQUA DOTS!!!!! Who in your company is so uninformed that they would still be selling this?? Have you in-or out-sourced all your operations to indigent and illiterates? I will be informing my community of this major "kerfuffle". I will now vow (even though I have recently supported your business) to encourage all I talk to, "Take your business somewhere else!!!"
